April 29, 2024

Good morning to everyone, we hope everyone got through the storms ok, we have had about 2 inches of rain here at the Ford homestead, and there were reported tornados just a few miles away.

Let’s see if we did anything yesterday. If I can get my ole brain to access yesterday’s memories, I believe, there was rain, lightning, heavy winds.

We decided to go to lunch at the cracker store which allowed my favorite wife to not need to cook. Food was good and service was very good, there was a crowd, and yes, we did need to wait to be seated.

Later in the afternoon, my present spouse, Tres and I went to the front porch and rested during the afternoon between the storms that had been occurring. I was able to read several pages from my story and yes, I am still finding it interesting, even though I wrote it. I often wonder if someone other than me read it, how would they respond to the story, and the ending. Yep, only I have read it.

While we were sitting out on the porch yesterday, our neighbor lady and her two sons came out of the house and the two boys were able to move the tree limb that had fallen during a storm on their driveway, then one of the boys and the mother came over and talked for a while.

Topic swap: I have a couple photos that I will share with you and one other person, the others just don’t get to see them. The first photo is of a few sunflowers that have voluntarily came up in a flowerpot and in the jasmine bed.

These sunflowers are very skinny, but they are growing. What? I am talking about the sunflowers, and you are more interested in the fallen tree limb in the neighbor’s driveway. Try to stay focused on the content of my wording please.

I have a photo of the water that was standing in the back 40, there was more water there earlier. Before anyone asks, yes that is a couple limbs in the upper left corner that has fallen from our tree in the back 40, that the tree trimmers did not want to remove, fearing that they would damage something.

I have another photo of the tree limbs that fell in the back 40, I will remove them when the water has departed.

My favorite wife wanted to wash the dog yesterday, but the rain ruined her plans, and we do not plan to wash him today. my wife gets to go out for breakfast with a couple friends to celebrate another neighbor’s birthday.

I guess that is all for now, we hope you day is storm free, we hope you stay safe, and we hope that one person will be nice to you again.

Not enough, then too much!

April 28, 2024

I wish you a good morning, even though there is thundering and lightning outside. We are under a storm watch but it hasn’t started raining yet. We hope everyone stays safe and please, keep an eye on the weather all day.

When the Tres and I walked outside this morning we had an odd feeling. It was cloudy and there was some thunder off in the distance but that was not the odd part, the neighborhood seemed to be lit up with some orange lite. It was kind of spooky, the light seemed to be coming from the clouds, we did not stay out too long. I just looked at the monitors and it is now starting to rain.

I am now glad that I got outside and mowed yesterday. I did get the front yard mowed early in the day and I was back in the house to do my daily reading of the bible about 10:00am. Reading complete, my favorite wife allowed me to take her into town to get a sandwich for lunch. We may go there too often, because as I have stated in the past, we walk in, and the lady says good to see you again, and starts placing our order into the computer without asking what we want. By the way, it is now pouring rain like crazy.

After eating our lunch, we headed to the cheap store just to see if there was anything we might want to purchase. We look a lot of the items over and I found something that I consider a toy. It is a solar powered unit that can be one of three things, a motion detecting light, it can be a bug zapper, and it can be both at the same time. I decided to get it and see how it worked.

Returning home, I decide to get a short nap before attacking the back 40. Nap completed I headed out back and the first thing I needed to do was pick up sticks. As I picked up the sticks, I located the Poopa-Loopa that would be removed next. During the process I noticed that the dog’s water had some crud in it so I cleaned the bucket and added some clean water, then I removed the hose from the back 40.

I was now ready to do the mowing, I used the walk behind first and then got the riding mower out. I did use the small air compressor that I had bought a week or two ago to fill the tires on the mower. Tires filled, oil checked, I started the mowing process. About 15 minutes into the mowing, I noticed that the mower seemed to be cutting on an angle, which could mean a tire was low but I had just filled them with air. I stopped the mowing process and checked the tires and both of the back tires were low, one was lower than the other. I refilled them and completed mowing.

After mowing I checked the rear tires the way my neighbor suggested, and both are leaking in ways that they need to be replaced. Wow, what will that cost.

All the mowing finished, equipment put away, I head to the house at about 4:00pm, my poor ole body was tired. I feed the pot hound  , made myself a drink and headed out side to rest. A friend arrived and all three of us were seated. Discussions were varied, and yes, the bible did get into the discussion.

I just looked at the monitor again and the back 40 is standing in water due to the heavy rain. Most of the back 40 tilts toward the house, so all the water from the back 40 and off the roof of the house drains to that area. There is a lot of lightening it is getting closer.

Well, I guess I will stop for now, we hope the storms go away and everyone has a good day, please stay safe.

Yard man Don.

April 27, 2024

We want to wish everyone good morning and we hope you have not been hit by any of the storms that were seemingly everywhere yesterday. We here in Hewitt were not in the line of the storms, we did see a few sprinkles, but nothing heavy. We are told that today may be kind of good, with a lot of wind and the possibility of storms this evening, tonight and possibly into tomorrow morning.

I did nothing much yesterday, other than get Dave and the kids from work and school. I did go and get some gas in the Fords ole Chevy and I also filled the gas can with gas so we can continue to mow the yards as needed. After getting the gas I decided to go to the Star coffee place and ask for a cup of coffee with cream. The last cup I got there they forgot the cream. The line of cars was wrapped around the building and I did not want to wait 15 minutes to get a cup, so I got out of line and headed for happier times.

I did not sit outside and read yesterday due to the lightning and thunder, I was able to sit inside where it was somewhat safer and read. I still have more of my story to read, and I am still enjoying it. Later in the afternoon the thunder and lightning had left the area so we did sit outside for a while enjoying the quiet time.

I guess today will be a kind of normal day, heck it the weather stays dry I might even attempt to mow the front yard. If I get that done without incident, I might try to mow the back yard, we will see how things go. If I do mow, I will need to give up some of my normal schedule and you know how difficult it is for ole retired people to alter their schedule.

Wow, work or stay on my Saturday schedule? Why do ole people have to make these difficult decisions? I guess I will stop and attempt to decide between working, or a normal schedule. We hope your day is good and please stay safe in all you do.

Work or schedule?

April 26, 2024

It is me, I am here again, and I want to say, “good morning to one and all”.

We had a good day yesterday; my favorite wife and I did go to the home store and purchased some dirt [aka potting soil]. We have a couple projects to work on, but we also need to pull some weeds. Nope, I did not pull any weeds yesterday, I was just too busy, or maybe I didn’t want to, or maybe I was afraid it would rain.

We did, after shopping for the dirt, get lunch and bring it home with us, lunch was good.

Later in the afternoon, after I picked up Gabi from school, I did not need to get Alex as he was involved with orchestra after school. I did get Gabi home safe and when I returned home my favorite wife and I went to the Cracker store for supper. Now that is very unusual, us having two meals out of the house in one day. Usually, if we have one meal out anything else we have is at home.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday afternoon and enjoy the quiet time together. It was unusually quiet yesterday afternoon, heck even the birds were not making noise. Our discussions were few as our bellies seemed to be full of food from supper at the cracker store.

Speaking of sitting outside, myself and Tres did go to the front porch to read yesterday in the early afternoon. Even though I wrote the story, I find it interesting. I am editing as I read, I think I have found 5 words that needed some attention, and that is not bad as I am more than half way through the story.

We are still on the watch for more rain and storms from today through Sunday. Since we were in a drought last year, we do not want to complain about the rain, but we also do not want any flooding.

Well, I guess I will stop for now, it is another short posting and I know some of you like short posts. We hope you have a nice day, and we hope you are nice to that one person, and please stay safe in all you do, if you do anything.

April 25, 2024

Is it a good morning, he asked? Then he said, yes, it is a good morning here at the Ford’s homestead, and we hope it is for you too. Our day is starting off cloudy and a possibility of rain again today and for the next 3 days. The rain we received yesterday was very lite, but it did make everything wet. I did not get on my knees in the back 40 to pull weeds due to the wet grass.

We are hoping that we will not get the predicted storms and very heavy rain over the next few days, and if we do, we hope that everyone will stay safe.

I am wondering if I will get to pull weeds today. We want to go to the store and get some potting soil and some top soil to aid the flower beds and flower pots. If we are able to drag our ole bodies out of the homestead and into town, I would also like to get some fly paper, the type that can be hung in the garage to catch the flies. There are a lot of flies outside right now, and I want to keep them out of the house. Yes, I have the zapper running outside and it is getting several bugs.

Due to the wet weather yesterday, I wanted to sit on the front porch and watch the neighborhood. You know I am a good neighborhood watcher. As I was getting ready to go outside and sit, I thought I should take the story I wrote a few years ago and re-read it. I am always surprised when I read it, that I actually wrote it. The wording is good for the most part and the story line amazes me that it came out of my head. The story is only about 70 pages long, and it explains how our universe begins, along with some other interesting things. I only got about 20 pages read yesterday and I hope to get more read today.

I wish I had some other stuff to present, but I don’t, so I will say, “have a good day, be nice to all and please stay safe.”

Writer, “the Don”.

April 24, 2024

Good morning on this hump day, aka Wednesday, we hope your day is off to a good start. The Tres and I went out to the front yard as usual this morning where we noticed the air was very moist. It was not raining, but we could feel the moister. As I stood there waiting on Tres to review the front yard, our cat molly came up behind me and rubbed on my leg. That is her way of saying, “I am here, are you going to pet me”. As I rubbed her back, I could feel moister on her back from the humidity in the air. She also went across the street and fertilized the neighbor’s yard.

I am not sure what I might do today, I did get on my knees yesterday in the back 40, and yes, I might have been praying as I pulled the weeds from the #3 bed and some weeds from the #2 bed. I do not like working in the sun, so I did not work on all the beds. It is cloudy today and if it doesn’t rain, I might be on my knees again today.

I just observed the neighbor lady putting her recycle container out at the curb, I guess that means I need to also. I find it interesting that when she leaves her driveway, she turns on her turn signal.

New thought: one of my neighbors ask why our house number shows up on the driveway when it rains. He is the only neighbor to ask about it, I assume others are too focused on their driving to see my driveway when it is wet.

Yesterday, the weather was nice enough that my favorite wife and I did sit outside for a while. Just sitting outside doing nothing together is very enjoyable for me.

I have seen some of the TV news about these so-called student protests and the politicians who are supporting them. Calm civil protests and calm discussions from the leaders and politicians [I don’t consider all politicians as leaders] are the correct way to protest. They should take a lesson from Dr. Marten Luther King when it comes to protests, and all protests should be done in a legal manner without causing problems to the opposition. When the opposition gets upset, the civil communications cease, and all progress stops. Polite civil discussions between two parties will often bring about change.

Well, I guess I will stop for now, we hope your day is filled with polite civil conversations, and we also hope everyone stays safe.

Calm and polite.

April 23, 2024

The sun is shining again this morning, and we are having a good morning, we hope you are also. Today will be a normal schedule for us here at the Ford’s Homestead, that means we have very little or nothing to do.

What did the Don do yesterday: I sit around a lot doing nothing and at one point I did walk outside and see that I needed to pull a few weeds in one of the flower beds. I got the ole knee pads and a rubber mat which helps to protect my ole body when I am on the cement walkway. I did not get off the walkway into the flower bed, so I could not reach all the weeds, but I did get a bunch.

After all that work, I did get into a chair on the front porch and enjoy some rest. Nope, I did not have anything to read I was just sitting there doing nothing.

After my break was over, I did provide Tres and the birds in the back 40 some fresh water to drink. While I was out there, I reviewed the black berries again and we have a bunch. It will not be long until we will be saying ouch many times every day, “Black Berries do hurt”. I do have a selfie that I will share with you.

Yes, I was near the #2 black berries when this photo was taken.

Speaking of photos, we have several flowers blooming at this time, along with too many weeds, I will attempt to provide a photo. This photo is of one of the flowerpots in the front yard.

I took this photo this morning when Tres and I had taken our morning stroll in the front yard. Yes, the flowers are pretty, but they are not the reason of the photo, look closer. I wanted to show you the weeds are trying to take over everything. What? No, the flowers in the photo are not real, the weed is the reason for the photo, and yes, I pulled the weed out of the pot.

The bible study went well last night, and we have one more meeting before our summer break. At our last meeting we have food to eat before the meetings starts, it gives us time to socialize.

Well, I guess I should stop and go do nothing for a while. We hope you have a good day; we hope someone is nice to you and that everyone has a safe day.

April 22, 2024

We made it through another weekend safe and sound. OK, we are safe I don’t know how sound we are. We would like to wish everyone a good morning.

All about yesterday: we did very little. The clothes were washed, and I did sit outside on the front porch for a while reading, but the wind was blowing, and it was in the low 60s. I prefer to read outside but when the weather isn’t cooperating, I have a tendency to come inside. I did finish reading the book about Revelations, I think there was 340 pages, and yes it was interesting.

About dog feeding time [4:00pm] we went outside and rested for a while. I received a call from my sister in Missouri and we talked for a while. I found it interesting that before the call ended, we were talking about the bible. I guess I started it when I noted that I have been reading a book about Revelations. Oh, by the way, I have finished the book and it had 340 pages.

I have another one of those flower photos, it looks like the others, but it is a flower that is in the front yard, the sun was shining on it brightly.

Our plans for today, we are back on a normal schedule, of getting the kids from school and Dave from work. we do have our next to last bible study class this evening.

I guess that is all I have for the day, if you get a chance, be nice to at least two people today. We hope your day is productive, interesting and safe.

April 21, 2024

Good morning from the Ford Homestead to you all. Well, we got through the night even though there was a lot of rain and lightning.

Yesterday adventure: my favorite wife and I did go into Waco for lunch, we did invite Dave and Gabi to go along but they had other plans. Our lunch was good and we did go to the cheap store. We did not get the item we wanted but we did get another item, so the trip was not a loss. We have had lite rain off and on yesterday, I have not yet checked the rain gage so I don’t know how much we received. The rain seemed to come and go [off and on] through the day.

It was too cool to sit outside yesterday so we just hid inside the homestead. When I sit outside, I do like an occasional adult beverage, but not when I am sitting inside. Inside maybe some popcorn or peanuts to munch on, and we don’t usually have visitors inside the homestead, so not any interesting conversations.

I sat inside and read from the Revelation book but I would have preferred sitting outside to read. I think it is easier on my eyes outside and I don’t wear glasses to read when I am outside. I guess ole people can’t have everything.

I have a couple photos that I will provide to that one person, and you can see then also. As I was on the riding mower Friday, I saw what I call a “wooly worm”. Now this fellow was crawling along a board so I paused the mower and wanted to get a photo of him. I must have scared him with all the noise of the mower as he balled up.

You may notice that he is black, and I have been told that when we see dark colored wooly worms, that means cold weather is coming. I guess that’s why it was 55 degrees yesterday.

I have a photo of the black berry that was starting to turn color, it was also taken on Friday.

That is all the photos I have to share for now. I did go out this morning and check the free rain gage and it has an even one inch of water in it. I might note, the back 40 has some water standing in it, I am glad I got the mowing done before the rain.

Well, I guess I should say that is it for now, we hope you have a nice Sunday, maybe some good food and please stay safe in all you do.

April 20, 2024

Good rainy morning to one and all. I did not know it was raining until I went out into the garage and Molly the cat came to me to be petted. Now the garage door was up enough for her to go in and out, and when I bent over to pet her, I could feel that her back was wet. The rain appears to be light and needed.

Plans for today Saturday 20, 2024: well, if all goes well my favorite wife and I will go into Waco for a lunch sandwich, and maybe stop at the cheap store to look around. Alex’s school is taking the Orkestra members to Austin for the day. As I understand it, they will go to a very large mall and then to a place where they play games. Claire will be going as a chaperon. Since she will have their vehicle in Austin, we thought we would call Dave and see if he wants to venture into Waco with us for a sandwich and a visit to the cheap store.

What did I do yesterday, well not a lot that morning although I did go into Waco and visit the Harbor store. I purchased a small compressor for the shed. Every time we use the riding mower we have to put air into the tires on the mower. I thought I would make it easier for yard man Alex by having the small compressor in the shed. Does it work? Yes, it works. I used it yesterday in preparation of mowing the back 40.

All week they have been talking about the rain and storms that are coming, so I decided to get outside and mow the back 40 before the rain arrived. The weather was mostly cloudy, and the air was cool and dry when I started the process. There were very few sticks in the yard to pick up, and not a lot of Poopa-Loopa to recover, I did need to roll up the hose before starting.

There are three processes in the mowing of the back 40, string trimmer, walk behind mower, riding mower. I needed to decide in what order to proceed. I have learned the string trimming for me should be last, and that is because if I do the trimming first, I have a tendency to trim more than needed, and let’s face it, trimming for this ole person is real work. I decided to do the walk behind first, then the riding mower, then the trimming. While mowing I observed a new flower blooming.

Something else I noticed was one of the black berries has started changing from green, heading for black. Now it isn’t black yet, but it has started.

I have three string trimmers, my ole one, the newer trimmer that Alex likes, and the electric trimmer. Well, I started with the ole trimmer and it wasn’t long until it quit, so I went to the one Alex likes, but it does not have a straight shaft on it, and I find it difficult to use.

Summary: I was tired when I finished, and the yard looked good. I don’t know why I used the curved shaft trimmer; I could have used the battery powered trimmer; it has a straight shaft. I should make better decisions.

All that work done just in time for me and my favorite wife to sit outside. One friend came over and set with us. After a little while a second friend came over and joined our discussions. Yes, we have more than one friend.

Well, I guess that is enough for now, we hope you have a good day, stay dry and stay safe.

April 19, 2024

A happy good morning to you, but not to them, they just don’t really care about you, and that makes me mad. I like you and hope you have a very good day.

News, the bird that has been sounding off all night, was not sounding off last night or this morning. Whatever he / she had been singing about must have changed.

Well, allow me to review yesterday in my mind, and yes, I do still have a small mind, at least I think I do. My favorite wife and I went into Waco to visit the Cheap store as planned, and we did not find anything that we were looking for. Sometimes you find what you want, and sometimes you don’t.

Back at home I reviewed the front yard and since they said it was going to be raining later that day, I decide to mow the front yard. I was able to get done before starting my pickup service.

I did get the Alex from school, and Dave from work, and yes, I got them home safely. Arriving back at home my favorite wife and I headed for the George restaurant where we had a nice meal, and good service. The couple sitting at the next table were friendly, so that made the date night even better. (one of the servers some time ago said we were on a date night)

Back at home we sat outside for a while enjoying the late afternoon even though it was hot and humid.

Plans for today, well I don’t need to get Dave or the kids today, so my normal schedule has changed. Heck, I have time to do something different. What can an ole person do that is not on their schedule? How would an ole person be able to consider different things to do? Since ole people don’t have any funding (aka money) even if they thought of something to do, they couldn’t afford to do it. Wait a minute: I could go to the Harbor store and act like I was looking for something to buy. Wow, I have something to do!

Different topic; I have a photo of a butterfly on the berry bush. You have to look closely as the butterfly is on a white bloom a little left of center.

Yes, there are a lot of green berries on the bush, but I was trying to show you the little butterfly. Yes, we will start reviewing the black berries daily before long.

Well, I guess I will stop for now, we hope your day is filled with blessings and happiness. Please be safe in all you do, and if you can, be nice to that one person, you know who I am talking about, even if they are not nice to you. You will feel better, and you will be blessed!

Green berries will be black soon.

April 18, 2024

We hope it is a good morning for all, and that the day will be even better than good. I do not have anything interesting to discuss in today's post, so I will just stop entering data and take a long-deserved break.

Before I get to the break, I will again comment on the bird that seemingly sings in the back 40 all night. Late evening I was in the Ford's ole bed room at 8:00pm and the bird was sounding off, loud and clear. At 1:30am the bird was sounding off, and at 6:30 this morning the bird was sounding off. I have started to believe one of the neighbors who live behind us has a recording of a bird sounding off, and plays it all the time.

We are more or less back on a normal schedule today; I will get the kids from school and Dave from work. we will probably not sit outside this evening as they are predicting storms to be in the area about 5:00pm.

Yesterday afternoon we went out to the front porch, we being Tres and I, so I could read from the book about Revelations. I still have a few more chapters to go, and for me it is very interesting. We had been out there for a while when my favorite wife came out to sit with us. I continued reading until I got through that chapter. All three of us just sat there enjoying the quiet afternoon, even though the humidity was very high, that is until a UPS truck decided to come into the neighborhood.

Now Tres doesn't like UPS, USPS, or FEDEX trucks or their drivers. We were sitting there and Tres was laying there, we thought he was sleeping, when he jumped up and started barking. The truck wasn't even in sight when he started barking, he could hear it, and knew it was one of the three. Tres is a loud mouth when he barks, and he don't stop just because we tell him to. We were happy when the truck left the area.

The neighborhood was then quiet again as we continued enjoying the afternoon. Shortly after that a friend dropped by to see how we were doing. We then proceeded from the front porch to the swing on the driveway as there are only two seats on the front porch. We all sat outside discussing things, when I noted, "it seems as if we were talking about aches and pains and problems that everyone seems to have". We agreed that we were, and maybe it has to do with age. It was about 6:00pm when we adjourned the visitation.

My favorite wife and I plan to go into Waco and visit the cheap store this morning. While we are out, I should drop by the teller machine and get our stipend for the week, and my favorite wife needs to stop by the pharmacy to get a prescription. Heck with all that to do, I may not even get a nap today.

Well as I said earlier, I have nothing to write about so I will sign off for now and wish everyone a good day, and please stay safe.

Be positive.

April 17, 2024

Good morning from us to you all. We hope today will be a blessing to all, and that we stay safe in all we do, if we do anything.

I did almost nothing yesterday, the most exciting thing we did was to sit outside yesterday afternoon and enjoy the nice weather. I did get the heart monitor put on yesterday, it is small and it will be on for 7 days. Yep, that is a long time to have this thing on, but I assume it will be helpful.

I wrote about the rabbits that were in the front yard yesterday, well at least one of them was back this morning. Tres was in the garage and he was barking at something but I could not see anything on the monitors. I let him come in the house and then on the monitor I saw a rabbit come from the neighbor’s yard into our yard. I like the rabbits but Tres does not. He killed one about a week ago so they better be careful around our pot hound.

No plans for today, we will just see what happens. The grass is growing quickly, and they are calling for rain tomorrow, I think. The Revelation book is still interesting, I try to read a chapter daily. I have found that the front porch is a good place to go and read, it is quiet, Tres enjoys it, and I can keep an eye on the neighborhood. Normally, in the afternoon, there is no activity in our neighborhood. I think ole people take naps or watch TV.

Well, I guess that is it for now, we hope your day is pleasant, please stay safe in all you do, and think some positive thoughts, it helps.

April 16, 2024

Good morning to you all, we hope your day is starting well, and all your plans succeed.  Not a lot going on here at the Ford house. Yesterday the Tree trimming people arrived and cut a few limbs. Then I noticed the noise had stopped in the back 40 so I wondered what was going on. They were looking up into the tree and talking. They came to me and said, if they continue, they will likely damage some things, and they don’t want to do that. They offered me a price for the work they have done, or they can continue with the possibility of damage. They also gave me a price to remove the entire tree. I paid their reduced price. They are gone and I still have some dead limbs in the ole tree.

We did not do much of anything yesterday. I did sit out on the front porch and read from the book I have on Revelation. There was no sitting outside with my favorite wife yesterday afternoon, as it was bible study night, I did go to bible study last night and it was good as usual.

I was able to get the potted plants watered out front yesterday. The bird baths were totally empty of water and our pot hound Tres, has a tendency to drink out of the one next to where I sit and read.

This morning Tres and I went to the front door to go out front as we usually do, but I stopped at the door. I could see a rabbit in the front yard and I knew the Tres would go after him. I moved away from the front door and went to the garage door to get outside leaving Tres inside. I wanted to persuade the rabbit to leave the yard. As I walked around to the front yard, I saw that there were two rabbits that needed to leave. They left and Tres and I went out. Tres is part blood hound as he was smelling of everything and I assume he was tracking the rabbits.

Well, not much planned for us here at the Ford house for the day, we hope you have a good day and stay safe in everything you do.

April 15, 2024

Good Monday morning to everyone, we hope you have had a good weekend. Before anyone asks, yes, I have the trash can out at the street. What, you weren’t going to ask that. Sorry, I thought I heard someone talking in the back ground about the trash can so I thought you were going to ask.

Well, yesterday, my do-nothing day, actually had a couple things to do. My favorite wife allowed me to take her to the cracker store for lunch. It was crowded, the food was good, the service was also good. Returning home I attempted to take a nap, but the nap did not materialize, so I proceeded to the back 40 where I decided to remove the debris that we had raked in piles and that Alex mowed around. I thought it would be a lot of work but it only took about 30 minutes to remove the sticks.

I then decided to mow over those areas which improved the look of the yard. The tree people should be here this morning, it is now 8:00am and they are not here. The back 40 seems to be dry enough for them to work and it they do not come today it is supposed to be raining tonight.

My favorite wife allowed me to help with replanting a large flower, we moved it from one pot to another and it was a team effort. We then planted flowers in two other pots. I then watered the flowers in pots in the back 40.

All that strenuous work completed; we then washed the dog. I did not set up the dog washing station (two benches that we sit on to wash both sides of the pot hound at the same time) in the usual location, and Tres seemed to be suspicious of what we were doing.

Washing done, I decided to read a little so I went to the front porch where it was comfortable and quiet. After the reading was over it was time to feed the pot hound. We decide to go outside and sit on the Ford’s ole swing to enjoy the quiet time together. As one might see, my do-nothing day had a few events to keep me occupied.

Well, I guess I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and please be safe in all you do.

A little more than nothing day.

April 14, 2024

Good Sunday morning to all, we hope everyone has a blessed day.

What did the Don do yesterday, just a little more than nothing. My favorite wife and I went into Waco for lunch, we may be going there too often as the lady who takes the orders did not ask what we wanted when we arrived. She greeted us, placed our order without asking what we want, took our money. Yep, we do get the same thing all the time.

On the way back home, we went over to get Alex our yard man to do our mowing. He was willing and able to mow the front and the back yards. The yards look good. Now I did pick up the Poopa-Loopa wile Alex got the mowers ready.

On the trip back to Alex’s home we did stop at the star coffee place to get him a big drink, and before anyone asks, yes, I did compensate Alex with some cash for the work.

I did put some time in on the front porch reading from the book on revelations. Even though I was sitting on a chair directly under the bird house, the birds continued flying in and out. I guess they think ole people are too slow to hurt a bird.

My wife made a pot of vegetable soup and corn bread for the neighbors down the street. This neighbor lady had her foot and part of her leg removed a few weeks ago and is now home recovering. We enjoyed visiting with her and her husband. She is doing good considering all that has happened.

Back at the fords homestead my present wife and I sat outside enjoying the noise of the birds. It seems like every bird was chattering yesterday afternoon.

Today: absolutely no plans for the day other than some reading. We hope everyone has a good day and as always please stay safe in all you do.

Short posts are good!

April 13, 2024

Good morning to you, but not the rest of the reading group, you are my favorite and the rest are just likeable. It is Saturday again and we hope you have a good day.

With nothing much to do yesterday I ventured forth to the back 40 and reviewed the area for the possibility of having my lawn man Alex over for some mowing and trimming. About ¾ of the back 40 is mow-able, the other ¼ is not. There is a lot of small limb debris that is left from the tree trimmers a few days ago. Speaking of the trimmers, they are supposed to come on Monday and finish the trimming, if the ground is dry enough.

I have thought that we might be able to rake the debris into a line and then have Alex mow around them. The trimmers are supposed to remove the debris when they complete their work.

While I was in the back 40, I reviewed the black berries and we have green berries in the vines, yep, photo to follow.

Later as I was nosing around in the garage, I happen to observe the cat, Molly. I think she was relaxing, and I am sure she was not aware of my presence.

Later in the day we did sit outside for a couple hours enjoying the nice sunny weather. A friend came over which always helps keep the conversation lively. We do allow our pot hound Tres to join us as we sit outside, I guess he could also be thought of as a bodyguard, photo to follow.

I think Tres was taking a nap when I took this photo.

Well, I have no real plans for this Saturday, we will just play along and see what happens. We hope your day is full of interesting things and that everyone stays safe.

Warm sunny day.
