Today is Halloween and I was thinking I should find a scary face to post at the beginning of this Halloween article, here it is, and it is scary!  BOOOO!

I was driving my vehicle on Hewitt drive when I observed a motorcycle rider with a passenger. I thought it was funny, the biker had a skeleton as his passenger.

Today Alex has a football game, yep, on Halloween, and luckily it is a home game which means, I should not have any problems getting to the Bible study group meeting this evening.  We will leave the porch light off as we do not have candy to distribute.

Well let’s see what the Don was able to accomplish yesterday. First, he cleaned out the items from the ole hot house, making it ready to place the flowers inside. Photo to follow.

Ok, he had not swept the trash from the floor, prior to this photo being taken, but he did later.

Then the Don addressed the big flowerpot, you know the one that he questioned as to whether he could handle it alone or would he need help, he handled it alone. He used the wagon to move the pot to the hot house, then he used his ole senior body to position it in the back and center of the house, photo to follow.

You are correct, my supervisor was checking out the building, making sure it was ready for the flowerpots.

With advice from his present spouse, the Don was able to find and move the other flowerpots from both the front and back yards. There was a couple of these pots that were very heavy, as they are large, made of glass and hard to handle, no good place to grip the flowerpots. It took about 1.5 hours to carefully move and place the flowerpots, photo to follow.

The electric cord will be used for the heat lamp during cold nights.

After that exhausting work, the Don took a short break with a cup of homemade coffee. Break completed, he decided to pick up sticks, that is pick up sticks from the yards, not the game pick up sticks. This task took another 30 minutes of the Don’s time. Completing that task, he then did a Poop-a-loop-a removal. The Tres has provided the Don with several donations.

All the Poop-a-loop-a along with the sticks and other debris has the Ford’s ole trash container full to the top.

Speaking of trash containers, the Don did put our ex-neighbor’s trash container out to the curb. Heck, the Don is a good neighbor even when they are no longer neighbors.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday, the weather was really nice. Well, I guess that is it for now, hope you have a good day, stay safe, and be nice to ole all people!

Trick or treat?

October 30, 2022

Today is Sunday, and I believe we are supposed to have some sun today, with temps in the lower 70s. I hope to move some of the flower pots to the so-called hot house today. My spouse of more than 53 years has suggested that a couple of the potted plants should be moved to the little hot house, so if I move a couple, I might as well move them all.

I think I can move most of the potted plants, but there is one that I may need help with. We will see what I can do before I look for help.

Reviewing yesterday, it seems as if I did very little. A friend came by and picked up the 5-gallon bucket of acorns, which he was happy to get. He noted that they had put acorns out to attract the deer, and they had also put cameras to see the deer. What they saw was not what they wanted to see, there were wild hogs that ate the acorns. They will use these acorns in a different location, hoping to get the deer instead of the hogs.

I did do my studying for the bible study group and afterword’s I did drive to the coffee place to get a cup, I just wanted to get out of the house for a while. Returning home, I checked with a neighbor who had recently purchased a dash cam, I wanted to see if I could offer some help in getting it installed and working. Unfortunately, my friend’s back was hurting to a point of applying ice packs to help with the pain.

My new $10 dash cam works but it has an odd occurrence. It is set up to record for 5 minutes then save that and begin another 5 minutes. This will continue, one after another, and then if you want to check a video from another day, if you know the time, you can easily fine that video, and not need to go through all the videos.

With that long explanation, my camera records about 3 minutes, even though it is supposed to record for 5 minutes, then it goes to the next video. That is ok, it still works.

Topic swap: even though it was cool yesterday afternoon, my wife and I did sit outside for a while and a friend came over and sit with us. We discussed all topics even a little politics.

Well, I guess I will stop and do nothing again today. we hope your day will be filled with whatever you like, and stay safe.

October 29, 2022

Ole people need a lot of help, and I get it daily here at the Ford’s homestead. Yesterday, as I was sitting at my desk, it was raining which we were happy to see, but the rain was encouraging Molly to stay inside. As I was reading the bible, Molly evidently needed some attention and some petting. She jumped on the desk and walked back and forth while I rubbed her back. At some point she lay down and took a short nap. She may have been trying to tell me to relax, photo to follow.

Molly was demonstrating that taking a nap is not only good for ole retired people but for cats too.

I went out to the ole employer to pick up an item I had ordered (kerosene). Since it was raining, I parked in the space closes to the front door. This parking space and a couple others that are for the handicapped, these spaces have dirt on them, also known as mud when it is raining. You would think someone would remove the dirt when it is dry.

I proceed to the front door in the rain, and I pushed the button that is for the handicap which should open the door, it did not open. I walked up to the door and the doors were locked. 9:30am and the front doors are locked?

I then walked back through the rain and got into the Ford’s ole Chevy, and drove around the office to the driver’s room, where I entered the building, and on into the front office. I paid for my item and then left the building. The people I talked to were all friendly, but the doors being locked made the business seem unfriendly. The mud in the parking spaces also is not inviting. Maybe they should also do a security review to see how easy it is for a person to get inside the entire building.

Yes, I did get a cup of coffee at the Star coffee place, since I was in the area.

No one asked, but my arm never did hurt from the #5 covid vaccine.

Let’s discuss windshield wipers; as I had noted several times in the past my new wipers had been on the Ford’s ole Chevy for several months and never got used. Well, I did use them yesterday, and they are anything but good. It seems as if the rubber is not flexible, and when they go one way they are smooth, when they go back the other way they bump across the glass. You pay that much for wipers….

We did get 1.75 inches of rain yesterday, and the device that turns the sprinklers off when it rains, worked. I checked it several times and it had the system turned off all day. I do not know how long the device will keep the system off, and this morning as I lay in bed it came to me that the sprinkler system normally runs on Saturday (aka today). I jumped out of bed and went to the garage as I did not want the sprinklers to run after receiving that much rain. Luckily, the device still had the system turned off.            NICE!

Well, I guess I will stop enlightening the public for a while, we hope your day is safe, healthy and happy.

Stay alert, crazy people out there!

October 28, 2022

We got the 5th covid shot yesterday, it was free to ole senior retired people, although there was another ole person waiting to get her shot and she said, “They said on TV that they were going to start charging for the shot, $100” and that is why she was there. The shot did not hurt and our arms have not been hurting as they did with the previous shots.

Since we were out of the house and close to a Star coffee place, I thought I would get a cup before heading for home. Now we had drove the present wife’s van as it needed gas, so I filled the tank on the way to get the shot. Well, I do not have my star coffee card in the wife’s ole van, so no coffee for me.

My first wife allowed me to take her to the cracker store yesterday afternoon for supper. They had a new item on the menu which was Country Fried Turkey. You get two pieces of turkey breasts and a couple sides, my favorite wife and I both tried the new item, it was ok but, in our opinion, “Not as good as regular turkey and dressing!”

I was out in the yard picking up a few of the acorns when our neighbor came over. Now that is unusual as normally, I am the person who initiates the conversation. He came over to tell me he was purchasing a house in Huston, as matter of fact he was closing on the house yesterday. Yep, he is moving to be closer to family and friends. I asked when would he be moving and he said tomorrow (that is today since the conversation was yesterday). He has been a good quiet neighbor; I hope we can get another good neighbor. I told him we were happy for him but sad for ourselves since he is moving.

I did pick David up from work and I did get Alex from school yesterday. Other than those things I did little or nothing, we did sit outside for a while yesterday afternoon, it was nice but a little cool.

Well, it was supposed to have started raining here in Hewitt about 3:00am this morning, but no rain yet. They say it is still coming and we will get a good amount of rain. Maybe the slow movement will allow for more rain. The radar is showing it to be about 30 miles away.

Rain, rain, don’t go away, little Donnie don’t need to play.

Well, I guess I will stop for now hope you have a good day filled with friends and happiness.

Be happy be safe!

October 27, 2022

As with all my recent postings, I did nothing yesterday, I just set around wishing I had something to do.

As I stated yesterday, it was too cold to take the Tres for a walk, until after the sun was up and shining. I messed around the house until about 9:00 then we took a nice walk in the warming sun. I know you do not care, but the spoon is still laying in the flower bed, where their mail box is also located.

Back at the homestead, it was decided that I could go to the hardware store (not a DIB store) and purchase a few items. I needed to get the BBQ gas tank filled, and I want a rat trap, as I suspect there is or will be rats coming into the garage as it gets colder. Heck, I have seen squirrels and birds in the garage, so I assume a rat might show up.

I was wondering what the cost would be to fill the gas tank, it was $18.00. The fellow who filled the tank for me was very friendly, and we enjoyed some conversations about BBQ and the olden days.

Before returning home, I had decided to go to the coffee place and see if I could get a cup, which I did. My ole gold card is almost out of money, so the future is looking like I may only be able to have coffee at home. Leaving the coffee drive through with the coffee in hand, I decided to stop by the teller machine and get our $5.00 stipend for the week.

I made it home safely; I did put the gas tank in the BBQ grill. Then I decided to check the device that is supposed to turn off my sprinkler system after a certain amount of rain. First, I removed it from the utility pole, which is near the back fence. I then brought it to the table on the back patio and began to examine it. I had noticed that the antenna wire was kind of tangled when I was removing it from the post.

I took the unit apart and cleaned anything that was cleanable, I checked the two batteries to see if they were usable, (the two equaled 6 volts). I then put it back together and got some water. I proceeded to the garage and I poured water on the unit, as I watched the controls in the garage, it turned the sprinkler system to off! I then replace the device on the utility post, and now I wait to see if the coming rain tomorrow will shut the sprinkler system off.

I did remove the old and new dash cameras from the Ford's ole pickup, and checked to see if they were both working. They both were working, so I decided to place the new camera (which my favorite wife purchased for me for $9.99) in the Ford's ole Chevy and keep the old camera as a backup.

I had decided since I have had nothing to do all day, I would get a cold drink and go outside and sit. A friend came over with a 5-gallon bucket filled with acorns, which I will give to another friend. We sat and talked for a while; I offered him a cold drink but he noted that he had one on the counter at home. After our friend left my wife came outside to enjoy the afternoon.

As we sat there relaxing from the day in which I had nothing to do, our neighbors from across the street came over and we enjoyed some lively conversations.

I do have one thing we are planning to do today, and that is get the 5th virus shot. We are hoping to go this morning and hope there will not be anyone in line, so we can get in and get out quickly.

Well, I am starting another day of nothingness, if only I had a job. ☹😐😊

We hope you have a wonder filled day, and please be safe in all you do.

October 26, 2022

Another day with little or nothing to do. I did nothing yesterday, and I will do nothing today. Wait a minute, we, (meaning my favorite wife and I) went to the Hewitt Library yesterday. Did I get a good book to read? Nope, we went there to vote. Yes, you are correct, we are good citizens trying to make the State of Texas better! I noticed that most of the people there voting were in the senior citizen age group.

Leaving there I thought I would see if I could get a cup of real coffee from the star coffee place. Heck, we were out in the Ford’s ole Chevy anyway why not try. We arrived and the cars in the drive through were wrapped all the way around the building, so it wasn’t a drive through, it was a stop in and wait. We drove on with tears in my eyes, no coffee in my hand and were heading back for home.

As we drove and the tears began to be less, it came to me that I might be able to get a cup of coffee at the Rose restaurant drive through (that is not their complete name, I do not advertise for free). In the drive through we ordered a cup of coffee (cost $1.00) and two bacon and egg tacos. We headed for home and had our breakfast.

I was then made aware of all the small limbs and debris in the front yard, due to the excessive wind we had the night before. I challenged myself to go out in the cold weather and attempt to remove said debris from the yard. First, I walked around picking up the larger sticks, those in excess of two feet long, I made two trips to the dumpster with those sticks. Then I started working on the smaller items, and I filled the ole five-gallon bucket three times, before my ole body decided that I had cleared the yard of most debris.

Later in the afternoon I went over to Alex school and got in line to pick him up after school. When he got into the vehicle, he noted that Gabi was staying late at school today. Now I did not need to get Gabi so I took Alex home. Dave had to work OT again yesterday.

Returning to the homestead I went outside to set and reflect on the day. While reflecting, I noticed that the neighbor next door to us had a large limb on his roof. One end of the limb was on the house roof while the other end was still laying against the tree. In other words, the excessive wind had broken the limb. Me being the good neighbor that I am, I decided that I would inform the neighbor of the limb just in case they were not aware.

The female neighbor arrived and I went over to provide council as to the broken tree limb. She noted that they were unaware and she would tell her husband.

As always, another day with noting to do, hope you have a good day with plenty to do and stay safe.

Nothing to do!

October 25, 2022

What could be the Don’s plan for today? Does the Don even have a plan for the day? Allow me to elaborate. The Don and the Donna’s big plan is, “to go and vote today!” Yep, we want to get the voting process done without standing in line. Now it is cold outside today so if there is a line, we might postpone the process for a day.

Just think, in a couple weeks we will no longer see these mostly irritating political ads on TV. I am not sure, but if some one would run for and office and not have any political ads, I being and independent voter, just might vote for that, “No ad on TV candidate”!

As I have already noted, it is cold outside, and the wind is blowing like crazy, which makes it feel even colder. I do not plan to take this ole retired seniors’ body out in the cold to walk the Tres. I might have a homemade coffee this morning, but I am not planning on driving to the coffee place in this cold weather.

We did go to the 7th grade football game yesterday; it was out of town, the GPS said it was 31 miles away. Our team won; the score was 6 to 0. The prognosticators were predicting all kinds of bad weather for yesterday afternoon and evening, but the weather for the game was very nice. I can’t say the same for last night. It stormed last night, with lots of wind and rain. Our rain gage has 1.25 inch of rain in it, and the automatic sprinkler shutoff did not work, so the lawn sprinklers also provided water to the yard. I might need to check the battery.

When we arrived home from the football game it was too late for me to go to the Bible study meeting. This game was the last out of town game.

Well, I will get the grand kids from school this afternoon and other than voting, I do not plan to be outside in the cold weather. Yes, I do have the kerosene heater, no I do not have any fuel for it, so we will be cold until the fuel arrives.

We hope your day is warm and safe.

October 24, 2022

Hay, it is raining! We are happy and thankful for the rain, even though they have predicted some heavy rain and possible storms this afternoon. Our favorite grandson has a football game scheduled for this afternoon, about the time they are predicting storms, and it is out of town.

My favorite wife allowed me to take her to the Home store yesterday, she was looking for some Christmas decorations. Would you believe, she said if I took her to the store I could also shop while we were there?

We first found the item I was looking for; it is a Kerosene heater. Would you believe, we will not be able to afford electric bills this winter, so we are going to use kerosene heater. The heater purchased at the home store was $5.00 less, than if I would have purchased it wholesale at my previous employer.

After finding the kerosene heater, we went through the Christmas decorations where I helped my favorite wife find a new Christmas Tree. We had saved for a long time in an effort to be able to afford these items, would you believe, together they cost more than $22.00.

At home I unloaded the tree and heater from the Ford’s ole Chevy and I went to work attempting to put the heater together. Getting it together, I found that it was not assembled properly, so I took a short break and then took some of the heater apart. I did find the error and put the heater back together. I do not plan to put fuel in it until it is time to use it, and yes, we do have a couple kerosene lamps which produce both light and heat. I have a photo of the heater but not the tree, as the tree is still in the carton.

In truth, the heater will be for emergencies, you know, a bad winter with a power outage it can be used indoors, and or, used in the hot house if we have severe cold that the heat lamp can’t handle.

We are hoping for more area wide rain today, but not for the storms. We hope you have a safe and rainy day.

October 23, 2022

Good morning if you are up early, good afternoon for those of you who sleep in.

Let’s see what the Ford’s did yesterday, I did water the black berry beds, we did wash the Tres, and I think he liked it, we went to Moody to a yard sell, they called it a garage sale but there was no garage involved. The ladies who were having this sell are friends, so we were not shopping, we were visiting.

I was able to motivate the Ford’s ole Chevy back home safely, and I then took a well-deserved 15-minute nap.

Popping out of the ole recliner I prepared to go outside and enjoy the afternoon weather. Now the temp was 82 degrees and the wind was blowing like crazy, but it was very comfortable outside. My favorite wife and I were enjoying the time together when neighbors came over. The conversations increased and we all had a good time conversing. We are blessed with several good neighbors; it is a nice neighborhood.

I have a couple photos and one of them I find interesting, or maybe I should say, I found the events prior to the photo being taken, were interesting! I will attempt to enlighten.

The first photo is of a honey bee getting a drink at one of the bird baths.

The second photo is of a black cat in a tree, in a neighbor’s yard. It happened that I was outside watering the berry beds when I observed a black cat being chased across the neighbor’s yard by and orange colored cat. The chase went across the yard and past the house, then some how they came back into the yard and the black cat jumped on the trees and when up the tree as fast as it was running across the yard.

Now I have seen cats climb trees but never that fast, and although I could not see the orange cat, I assumed it was also on the tree. The black cat stopped in one place and then moved on to a smaller branch kind of like a squirrel would do. Photo to follow.

I stopped watching after a while, but later we did see the cat come down from the tree, where it ran to the ditch behind our houses.

Well, this was the Ford’s Saturday, we hope your Sunday is blessed and safe!

October 22, 2022

Sat all day is here, and that is want I plan to do (aka for that one person it is Saturday)! Let us see if The Don done anything yesterday. Well, The Don did not need to get the kids from school yesterday, so all he did was sit around the homestead. Possibly I have a photo of The Don taking a break from all that sitting around, he may have been on the front porch with a Cuban Cigar in his hand.

Yes, The Don was enjoying a short break from all that grueling sitting around. OK, let me tell you that The Don did pick up the debris from the front yard and after completing that task, he then mowed the front yard. Yes, it was a lot of work for an ole senior retired person, but The Don was able to get it done.

While sitting on the front porch The Don noticed that the honey bees were coming to the bird bath for water. Yes, The Don had filled both of the bird baths with clean water yesterday morning. The Don attempted to get a photo but each time he would get close, the bees would leave.

The rest of the day was uneventful except, that my favorite wife did go and help with the big garage sale, for a few hours, and upon returning to the Ford’s homestead, she was able to talk The Don into going out for supper.

When supper was over, we were able to maneuver through all the traffic on Hewitt drive, and there was a lot of traffic, would you believe it only took one hour to get home. When we arrived home my present spoused talked me into sitting outside and resting my ole senior body for a while. As one can see, there is little rest for the senior population.

Well, it is coffee time and nope, I aint going to the coffee place, I will have coffee here at the homestead. We hope you have a restful weekend.

October 21, 2022

Well, we are starting a new day, and it is supposed to be warm again, so I will need to go outside and do some work after walking with the Tres.

A good friend came over yesterday and raked some of our front yard, looking for acorns. Unfortunately, there was not as many as we thought there were, so after some work he gave up, and sat outside with my favorite wife and me. We did have some good conversations; in part we talked about motorcycle riding and places where we had visited on motorcycles.

Speaking of the front yard, I guess I will mow the front yard today, I really would rather leave it alone, but there are areas that could use some grooming.

Today is Friday and I have told myself to not go to the coffee place or to the burrito place on Friday, as there are always too many people out early on Friday mornings. Well, I arrived at the coffee place and seeing the cars in line, I then realized that it was Friday and I should have stayed at home! Well, I was already there so I stayed in line both at the coffee place and the burrito place. What a way to start your day.

I just remembered, I need to water the flowers in pots this morning, no rest for the senior people.

We did get Donna's vehicle repaired yesterday; the price was about $200 less than what we were first quoted for the work. 😊

I am considering getting a kerosene heater that could be used in the hot house if we get some extreme cold weather this year. The heat lamp works for normal cold conditions, but if we get extreme cold the heat lamp does not provide enough heat. These heaters are not cheep and the fuel is also expensive.

Does anyone make anything that ole retired senior persons can afford?

Well, I need to do something, even if I don't want to, hope your day is a delight!

October 20, 2022

Today is Thursday and we need to take my favorite wife’s van, to the car veterinarian. I was told that the car veterinarian arrives at 7:30, so I will try to be there about that time. My dearest wife will follow me to the car veterinarian, that way I will have a ride home.

Speaking of vets, I need to drop by the dog vet and get some heart worm meds, not for me, for the Tres.

Yesterday I noted, that I would help a neighbor get ready for their yard sale. She does these sales to rase money to help pay for the dogs she takes care of, while they are looking for new homes. I was able to help a little that morning. My first wife went over to help after she returned from grocery shopping, and she spent the afternoon there working. I went over for a while during the afternoon and helped, before going to get the kids at school.

I sit outside yesterday afternoon by myself, as my favorite wife was helping get the sale items set out, for the sale which starts today.

Later today a friend is supposed to drop by and attempt to remove acorns from the front yard. The less acorns in the yard the better.

Well, I guess I should get ready to head for the car veterinarian, hope you have a nice day, stay safe!

October 19, 2022

Well, we have a start to a new day, and it is cold. As I drove to get a free cup of coffee this morning, I had the heater on in the Ford’s ole Chevy, it felt good. Now it wasn’t freezing outside, but it did feel cold on this ole senior retired person, and I did have a heavy duty sweat shirt on.

I might be allowed to help a neighbor today, she is going to have a garage sale for the rescue dogs, and she needs help getting everything ready. Her husband is in rehab and he also has the virus.

Yesterday, I did get the walk behind mower out and chopped up the leaves that have fell off the pecan tree. There are some spots in the front yard that need to be mowed, but I am not in a hurry to do that, maybe Friday or Saturday.

A friend is supposed to come by in the next few days and remove some of the acorns from the front yard. he provides the acorns for deer to eat. Yes, he hunts deer. It is easy to get the acorns if they are still on top the grass using a pecan roller, but when they get below the grass they must be raked out, and that is work.

I have in years past used a shop vac to remove the acorns, and that works well if you can see the acorns, but you do also get grass clippings and other debris. It was kind of fun seeing people drive by when I was vacuuming the front yard. I bet they thought I was total nuts vacuuming the grass in the yard.

Well, I guess I should get going, I have not taken Tres for his morning walk yet, and it will be a little nope a lot chilly.

We hope you have a wonder filled day, and stay safe.

Well, it happened, it has cooled off to a point that I wished I had taken a sweat shirt. Where was I when I wished I had a sweat shirt? Was this ole senior retired person sitting in the shade, no sun light to heat him up? Yes, he was at the 7th grade football game and it was out of town! This game was supposed to be a home game, but the day before the game they changed it to out of town.

The wind was blowing continually, not just a breeze, it was a wind from 20 to 30 mph, and there I sat, having a short-sleeved shirt on, heck I had left my cap in the vehicle so even the bald spot on my head was getting cold. My favorite wife took a sweat shirt and she was glad!

The game was good and in the last minute our team scored a touchdown, the score was then 12 to 12. Then we saw that there was a flag on the play, the touchdown did not count, we lost 12 to 6.

I was able to get back home safely and made it to the Bible study class, although I was late, they did not send me to the principal. The class and lecture were interesting. There was a concern last evening, there was a fellow who was sitting about 6 feet from me who was coughing a lot. Let's hope it was just allergies, and no one gets sick. I did see one fellow fall asleep during the lecture.

It is supposed to get cold here tonight, close to freezing but not quite there. It will not be long before we need to move flowers into the hot house, more work for an old person.

Speaking of cold, I will have an extras shirt on this morning when the Tres takes me for a walk. Tres seems to like the cooler weather; he has been voluntarily staying outside more lately.

Well, I don't have any more to present this morning, may your day be filled with kindness and love!

October 17, 2022

Let’s see what has happened; it rained some yesterday and last night, so I checked the rain gages this morning. You may have noticed that I said gages, which is a plural, meaning more than one rain gage. Each of the three gages had either, a little over or, a little les that ½ inch of rain. So, I averaged the amounts out to ½ inch for each gage, and that means, “we received 1.5 inches of rain total”. Nice rain for the ground!

Now that the rain has stopped, I hope to be able to mulch up the leaves from the pecan tree in the back yard. The leaves have been so sticky that I did not want to attempt to use the mower on them, I assumed they would stick to, and clogged up the mower. I hope the rain has washed the sticky off the fallen leaves.

I hope that at least one of you understand that we only received ½ inch of rain, the 1.5-inch rain was a joke, I know you know what a joke is, but we all know that one person doesn’t!

Allow me to convert to another topic; we were supposed to have a 7th grade football game at the home field today, for some reason it has been altered to an out-of-town game. To be honest, I don’t like the out-of-town games because, it makes it difficult or impossible to get back to Hewitt soon enough to go to the Bible study group meeting. I will make due with the time we have and enjoy the game, possibly make it to the meeting.

I need to get the Tres out for a walk this morning, now that it rained, there may be a lot of new smells for him. Don’t ask if I have already had a burrito for my breakfast, as I have, and a cup of coffee also.

We hope you have a good day, and we will visit with you next time you sign on to this odd ball blog!

Football fun, getting there not!

October 16, 2022

What happened with the Don yesterday, you are about to know. He was allowed to walk with the Tres, and yes, the spoon was still there. We enjoyed our walk and when we returned, I went out to the Ford’s ole shed and looked for an ax. No, I was not going to chop Tres’ head off.

Speaking of Tres, there was a sick or injured squirrel in the back yard yesterday and Tres saw it. The squirrel was moving very slow which indicated that he / she was not in good health. Tres headed for the squirrel, and the squirrel went into the flower bed attempting to hide. Tres went in after him and the squirrel tried to climb the tree, but he could only get up about two feet above the ground.

Tres caught the squirrel and with one bite the squirrel was dead. I was able to get the Tres away from the squirrel and then I disposed of the body. We could not see anything physically wrong with the squirrel, although I do know my neighbor has been firing an air rifle in his back yard the last couple days.

Now let us get back to me. I did go to my sons homestead Saturday morning and we worked on cutting down a dead tree. One of the big problems was a limb that hung over the wooden fence. We did not want to damage the fence and we did not want to have limbs in the neighbor’s yard.

We were able to get a rope on the limb, and Alex and I pulled on the rope as David cut the limb. We were successful in keeping the limb out of the neighbor’s yard and not damaging the fence. I was taking limbs and putting them on the trailer while David was cutting other limbs. I did get the trailer full.

At one point we were talking about a limb that could fall toward the house and how we would keep if from hitting the house. Alex has an orange tree, it is in a pot and the tree has one orange on it, even though the tree is green. As we were talking about removing that limb, I decided to move the pot with the tree about 6 feet. When the limb was cut, some of the limb would have hit the little tree if it had not been moved, I did good!

We put in several hours hard work on this tree, we do have all the limbs out of the tree, there are several still on the ground. Some of the wood will be used for fireplace wood, the rest we will need to haul away. I have a photo of the yard, tree and limbs on the ground.

I arrived home wanting a lot of water, maybe I was dehydrated, I rested for about 30 minutes, and then I took a shower. I was able to get my favorite wife to go to town with me to purchase a bottle. On the way home we decided to stop at the George restaurant, and if there was a parking place up front, we would stop in for supper. There was a handicap parking space, so we stopped. Now that I think of it, I did not display the handicap sticker. The food was good the service was excellent!

Back at home we sat outside for a while enjoying the nice afternoon. That was my Saturday.

Sunday morning: well, surprisingly enough, I am still alive, and my ole senior body is not hurting from the work we did yesterday.

This morning the Tres was following normal procedures when he came to the side of my bed for a back rub. This back rub does two things. One he gets to feel good due to the rubbing, and two he wakes me up saying it is time to get out of bed. Well, we did our normal things in getting out of bed and going to the back door. I opened the back door, and Tres burst through the storm door (aka pushed it open very quickly) and I saw something run from the patio into the yard with Tres right behind it.

There was some barking at the back fence, but Tres did not catch this thing. I decided to check the security cameras and see what was on the back patio, it was a cat, it was a light-yellow color. I have not seen this cat in our back yard in the past.

Topic alteration: to the best of my knowledge, we have no plans for today, may it be a day of rest. I will need to catch up on my studying, for the bible study group, as I did not study yesterday. We are supposed to have a chance for rain today, I am praying for an area wide rain, which would help everyone!

Well, I guess that is it for now, hope you have a safe and productive day!

Day of rest and study!
