            Good morning to you and we hope you are adjusting to the time change.

            We had a typical Sunday with nothing exciting happening. I will comment on the quiet neighborhood. In most of my posts lately I have commented on the neighborhood being quiet and if you allow me, I will expand on that thought.

            Yesterday I had gone to the front porch to read some notes from the bible study homework. As usual there was no traffic and no people outside at that time. As I began my reading, I was aware of a sound that seemed to be coming from our driveway. It was a crunching sound, so I looked in the direction of the driveway, and I saw a squirrel that was at least 50 feet away from me and it was chewing a pecan shell from our neighbor’s yard. I again started reading and after a short period of time I started hearing a different sound and it was coming from the neighbor’s trees. There was a squirrel chasing another squirrel through the tree and I could hear the noise from their feet on the limbs. When you are sitting on your porch, and you can hear those sounds that means you are in a quiet neighborhood.

            My favorite wife and I did sit outside on the front porch for a while yesterday and we use to be able to stay out until about 7:00pm, but with the time change we will be going in earlier. Before we went in, I turned the lights on that Alex had installed and I soon learned that one set has a different look. Two sets are a cool white while the other set is a warm white. I will attempt to get another set of cool white bulbs today, and if so, I will see if Alex can install them.

            Today’s events; try to purchase a set of bulbs, the cleaning lady is scheduled to be here today, review my bible study homework as we have a meeting this evening.

                Good morning to you and we hope your day will be filled with happiness.

                I will attempt to review some of yesterday’s events, if I can remember them. The day started with me posting to the blog, and I should note that I have as of yesterday, posted 4010 times. After the posting I ventured outside and picked up some debris from the front yard and I removed Poopa-Loopa from the back yard.

                Alex arrived and he began the mowing process in the front yard, we both decided that the back yard did not need to be mowed. Mowing, trimming and clean up complete, he started installing the Christmas lights on the house, and then continued on to placing them around the flower beds. All total he worked 3.5 hours.

                I do have a photo of a bloom that I will share with you, as usual part of the dog is in the photo.

                Work completed we all went to lunch, and the food was good even though there was a huge number of customers. Back at home I did very little as I was tired from all the work that Alex did. A friend dropped by for a few minutes and then I took my nap.

                Late in the afternoon I went into the office and did my daily bible reading and I even did my homework.

                I then started shutting down the house, closing the window shades, turning off the outside lights and the lights in the house. I was attempting to say to any trick or treaters that we were not handing out candy. My favorite wife and I went out to the back patio and enjoyed some quiet time. We did not have one attempt at getting candy as I had the ring camera on and could see our front porch and the quiet street.

                Today’s possible events: possible lunch at the cracker store and then do nothing the rest of the day.

                Good morning!

                We have some big plans for today if it doesn’t rain. Our yard man Alex will come over and mow the front yard and when that is completed, he will start putting some lights up on the house and around the flower beds as Christmas decorations. These lights will not be turned on until around Christmas, we just wanted to get some decorations in place. The manger scene will be put together later.

                What happens the rest of the day, who knows.

                Subject change: I have been reviewing some of the stories and articles I have written in years past, some about work and others about things like time travel, and personally I am impressed with my thoughts. One was about the future which goes back to the beginning of humanity.  

                I have below a small part of a story about “time travel” which I often refer to as “time movement”. It was written 11 years ago, and the entire story has 22 pages.

Only the wealthy would know!

                As previously stated, time travel does not, and will not exist, at least you will never know of it. Would you believe it has been invented, you and I along with everyone else, including the government have, until now, been unaware of this invention. 

Could you believe that time movement was invented years ago by a team of people working for a fellow named Steve?

Steve became rich and famous for building electronic devices, such as computers and the like. Steve had learned years ago not to trust anyone. He had many project sites across the US with teams of people working anonymously, sometimes on the same ideas, but none knowing of the other’s existence.

One of the teams learned how to initiate time movement. After numerous secret tests, the process was perfected. Steve (wanting to keep the process completely secret) hired an exterminator to eliminate the 9-person team. Each member of the team was, shall we say, put to rest.  Then Steve himself eliminated the person he had hired to put the others to rest.

A person who can time travel without others knowing that he can, would potentially be the richest person in the world, and now you know why Steve was so rich.   

Steve died but before he passed, he destroyed the machine and all the information concerning it. He knew of the power anyone with a time machine would have, and he did not want someone to seem as great as he was. Steve also knew the government would, when they learned of it, take it for their ill-gotten use.

                Good morning to all, we have a little sprinkle of rain again this morning.

                I want to start off with a comment about yesterday and something I have found interesting. I was looking for instructions for building bird houses; the instructions would have the dimensions of each piece and the order of putting it together. Well, I found the folder and it has instructions for a couple bird houses and bird feeders.

                As I was sitting at my desk, I decided to check the computer for any notes about bird houses and other subjects. I knew I had in years past made many notes, stories, and instructions on many subjects. What I found is very interesting to me as I wrote on just about any subject. I have posted below a few words from a 3-page article titled “You can make things better”.

You can make it “Better”              

                You maybe, no, you “will be” surprised how you can affect others, if only you try.

We have all worked for or been around someone who did not seem to appreciate us. This can apply to work as well as personal relations. You probably know how this goes, this person never sees the good work you do but always sees the errors, and they never compliment you on your good work but are quick to point out the errors.

                You are correct in your belief, “the (person or boss) should recognize and comment on good work as quickly as an error”.

                Why doesn’t that always happen?

                There are several reasons and excuses that can be used by the (person or boss) for not following through on good work.

1. 99.5% of your work, as well as that of others, is good work (meets expectations). You should not expect to receive frequent positive comments for your normal daily work. You should, however, expect and receive positive comments for special projects and unusually heavy workloads. A positive comment and or special recognition should be received for a week of error free work.
2. Errors are problems that need to be corrected and not repeated. You need to know of your errors so you can correct them and not repeat them. If you become upset when learning of an error, you should be upset at yourself, not at the person delivering the message.
3. Some (people or bosses) do not have the skill set needed to explain errors, poor quality work or not meeting expectations in a professional, positive manner. That is their error and it will likely be difficult to point that out to them in a professional and positive manner...

After reading through the above part of an article and several other articles, I was happy to see all the subjects like interviewing, listening to others also known as work notes, and the subjects like mowing the yard, time travel, the end times and other subjects. I wrote about many things and I enjoyed reviewing them.

Different topics; I did go to rehab and that seemed to go well, back at home we had about an hour before we headed out to supper, so we sat on the front porch and enjoyed the sprinkles of rain. We did get to supper safely, the service was very slow, but the food was good. Back at home we again sat on the porch and my favorite wife put on a jacket as the temperature was in the 70s and the lite rain did make it feel cool.

Today, I have no plans at all but I might go to the store for a couple grocery items. I will go through more of these notes and stories for my enjoyment.

        It is dark thirty but it’s still a good morning (dark thirty means the sun isn’t up yet). I guess it will be dark even longer when the time changes this weekend, fall back.

Yesterday was a normal day here at the Fords. We did the usual things like bible study homework; I did remove debris from the front yard. My favorite wife and I went into Waco to get a couple items, and we made it back home safely.

I did go to the shed and find the Christmas lights that we might have Alex install them this weekend, I did get the chop saw out and brought it to the car port and placed it there. I brought some scrap wood to the chop saw and started cutting some pieces for the possibility of building a few new bird houses. All went well until I got to the last piece of wood and when I cut some pieces from it, they split in half. I did not have any additional scrap wood, so I disappointedly put everything away. I did get some wood glue and glued the pieces together. If the glue holds them together, I can use them and once they are assembled as bird houses the screws will keep everything together.

I wanted to get a photo of the chop saw and the work area, but I only remember that I wanted to get the photo after I had put everything away. Forgetful ole person.

Today’s big event will be rehab and then we will go out for early supper, also known as date night. We go early to beat the crowds. We have friends that often go with us which makes the evening more enjoyable.

                It is Wednesday and we hope you have a very good morning. For the person who looked at this in the afternoon we hope you have a good day.

                Yesterday was a kick back and do-little day, I did my bible study homework, and I did my daily bible reading.

                Interruption: our cat just walked up to the side of my chair and looked at me, as if she was saying. “I want to eat and you should pick me up and put me on your desk”. Molly can jump on the desk anytime she wants, but if I am here, she expects me to pick her up and place her on the desk. Oh, perhaps I should say, her food bowl is on the desk to keep Tres from eating it.

Back in my do-little day, I did go to rehab, and I got a good workout. Heck, I was sweating when I left there. On the way home I did stop and get a couple glasses of to go ice tea and I stopped at the chicken salad place and got a couple orders of chicken salad for our supper.

I made it home safely and my favorite wife and I took the ice teas to the front porch and sat down. We have several of the same conversations each time we set outside like the neighborhood is quiet, there is no traffic on the street, and we comment about the drones. I should say there were probably 20 or more drones fly over yesterday.  

As we sat outside our neighbors from down the street had their little dogs out for a walk, so they walked up and we talked for a while. We learned that the rooster that I heard crowing, is in the yard behind them. They said there are some hens there with the rooster.
               

Today’s possible work; I need to pick up debris from the yards, and I might get some Christmas lights from the shed if I can find them. Alex might be able to install them this Saturday after mowing the yards. I might go into Waco to get a bottle of adult beverage. Wow, way too much work for an ole senior person.

                Hello and good morning to you and only you.

                Yesterday was an exciting day, I went to the store for some grocery items, back at home I sat on the front porch all alone with a cup of coffee, As I was on the front porch with my cup of homemade coffee, I began to remember old memories. It would have been about 1957; we lived in the country and down the road from our house was a friend named John. His parents were rich and they lived in a very big, nice house and they owned a Glass company in Cape Girardeau. How was it I considered them to be rich; they had two telephones in their house. One phone was upstairs, and one was downstairs. Heck, I don’t remember if we had a phone when we lived in the country.

                They had a horse and I think that is where I learned to tie a saddle strap which led to me knowing how to tie a necktie. They had a Cadillac and I got to ride in it a couple times. The windows had buttons that you pushed, and the window would go up or down, power steering, power breaks, automatic transmission and air conditioning. Heck back in the olden days most cars did not have any of the nice things we now have.  Anyway I had a rich friend when I was a kid.   

Later I reviewed my bible study homework, after that my favorite wife and I sat on the front porch enjoying the nice weather.

                I have a photo of a new bloom and an ole bloom which was taken as we sat on the front porch, the photo is not very clear, but the pot hound Tres and my favorite wife are in the photo. The weather is good, so some blooms are trying to get here before the real winter weather arrives.

                After supper I went to bible study.

                Today’s big plan is to go to rehab. Wow, ole people have a lot to do. Well, I pray for a blessed day for you and that we all stay safe in all we do. We will keep you in our prayers.

                As usual we wish you a good morning.

                Sunday was a kickback and do-little day for me, but my favorite wife had started looking for some instructions that she thought she had placed on a shelf. She did not find the instructions, but she went through a bunch of items, and she found a cast iron frying pan that was her father’s. She said there should be two smaller cast iron frying pans and she looked everywhere, heck I even helped for a while. I told her they had to be in the house somewhere, as she had not given them to anyone.

                I did take a cup of coffee and went to the front porch to read the notes from bible study. The weather was nice and the neighborhood was quiet as usual. A friend did stop by which caused my favorite wife to stop going through all the things in the garage and visit for a while.

                I was allowed to do the washing of the clothes, which is not difficult but the part that takes time is the items that need to be put properly on hangers. The other items like towels and underclothes can be folded and put away.

                After the friend left and the clothes were all washed, dried and properly hung on hangers, I did get an adult beverage and sat out on the driveway all alone as my favorite wife was again going through things in the garage.   

                Today’s possible events; I will likely go to the store for a few grocery items and other than that I will need to wait and see what happens. We do have bible study this evening so I will need to review my homework.

                This evening you may be able to see the Hunters moon just about the time the sun goes down, the moon will be coming up.

            We wish you a good morning as this day seems to be starting off nicely.

            Yesterday was mostly about the granddaughter getting married and I have a couple photos. First is a photo of Bryce and Gabi and their first dance.

            Then we have a photo of another married couple.

            The wedding was very nice, and we all had a good time. I am not going to add more words as each photo is worth a thousand words.

            Yesterday we did very little, heck we didn’t even leave the house. I did get a photo showing that “X” marks the spot and the “X” was over our neighborhood.

            Today, our favorite granddaughter gets married. It sounds like it will be one very exciting day.

            It is a cool morning here in Hewitt, and I know that because I have been outside working a little after 5:00am. I wish you a good morning too.

            I have a photo to present to you which will be the beginning of my work explanation.

            In the above photo we see the back patio here at the Ford homestead. Yesterday I was allowed to go out back and blow the leaves and debris off the patio, then I was allowed to sweep it with a broom, then I was allowed to wash everything with the pressure hose and then let it set and dry except for the table which I dried with a towel.

            This morning at 5:00am our dog wanted to go outside so I obliged his request and let him out. As I was letting him out, I remembered that the sprinklers would run today starting at 6:00am. I need to get everything out of the yard and back on the patio.

            You are correct, that is too much work for a 92-year-old man, and it is too much work for me too. Later today I will need to rearrange everything on the back porch. Never a moment for me to rest.

            Yesterday’s workload: everything on the back porch was dirty as we have been only using it as a place to keep items that were not needed very often. Heck the gas grill has not been used for more than a year. As I put things back in place today, I will light the grill if there is still gas in the tank. We drove into Waco to get a couple items and then on the way home we got a couple glasses of iced tea, and we did set outside for a while before heading out to the early supper with friends (aka date night).

            Supper was good and the conversations were mostly about travel and weddings. We do enjoy having supper with friends. Back at home we again sat outside for a while doing nothing but relaxing as both of us were filled up due to the good supper.

            Big plans for today: finish the back porch, rest, bible study homework, rest…

                Good morning again and it is another cool morning but should be a nice warm afternoon.

Let’s see if I did anything yesterday: Nope, it was another do-nothing day. I had a thought lately, and I know what you are thinking, “the Don has thoughts”? Yes, I do occasionally have a thought and that one thought was, “I should do some things differently”. Now with that in mind, I have changed one of those things. I have for a long time finished the blog and then took a short nap before starting my bible study homework. Yesterday I finished the blog and without a nap started the bible study homework, and the change in habits was ok.

After a short rest period I went to the backyard and worked on removing a bunch of dead stuff out of the number 2 Berry bed. I don’t remember how many times I said ouch, I worked until 11:00 and there are still more dead to remove.

Back in the house I cleaned up my ole body, and my favorite wife and I went into town where we had a quick lunch. We stopped at one store on the way home and purchased a couple items.

Back at home we did very little for a while. I did my exercises for my ankle and that completed I set up the two benches in the back yard that we use when washing the dog. My favorite wife and I did team up and wash the dog. He does smell better.

Dog washed, we went through the items on the back porch, and all of them needed to be cleaned. We do not use the back porch, so it gets little attention. I plan on cleaning it today, sweeping, and washing with the pressure hose. Heck if I clean it we might use it. The gas grill has not been used for a long time, so I need to clean and check it out too.

All that work completed we then went to the front porch and did nothing for a couple hours. The neighborhood was quiet as usual but there was noise from outside the neighborhood like sounds from noisy vehicles and loud motorcycles. Speaking of sounds, someone has a rooster that I could hear crowing yesterday and the day before. We noticed that we did not see any drones yesterday. When we sit on the porch we can’t see much of the sky, so we don’t see the planes as they fly over.

                Today: clean the back porch.

                Another cool good morning to you and we hope you have a warm but not hot day.

                Yesterday was another kickback and do-little day; we did go out for breakfast and as usual the ham and cheese omelets were good. Other than watering the flowers in the pots and watering the black berry beds I did little or no outside work.

                I did go to the rehab yesterday and they worked me harder than usual. I was tired when I left there and my ankle felt good. Back at home my favorite wife and I did set outside enjoying the quiet afternoon and the very nice weather. There were many drones flying over yesterday.

                Today, no plans at all, although we might attempt to wash the pot hound this afternoon, we will just see what happens.

                Good morning to all, we hope everyone has a good day.

                Yesterday there were no events at all, or were there? The cleaning lady did come and did the cleaning; I was allowed to go to the store for a couple items and going early means there were not many people in the store. I did go through some items in the garage, and I charged some batteries that power a drill and a light.

                I did attend the bible study yesterday evening and I still do not like the lecture being before the classroom discussions, can’t say I am really into it this year. I need to put more effort into studying and meetings.

What I saw in the sky by Donnie the Ford

We were sitting outside as usual, it was Sunday afternoon, there was very little happening and the neighborhood was very quiet as usual. Since there is little happening, we look into the sky at planes and jets that fly over, we had seen a couple drones but not many. As it happened, I looked up to see if there were any jets going over when I saw what I thought was a jet, but I quickly understood it was not moving. I continued looking at the object, but it did not move. I reached for the cell phone and took a photo.

                The cell phone did not take a very good photo and in the photo, there is a small white spot toward the center top of the photo and that is what I saw.

                As I continued to watch the thing (UFO) I noticed it started moving very slowly so I went into the house and got a pair of binoculars and looked at the thing. It didn’t look like a jet, but it did reflect the sun like a metal plane does when they fly over. I think it may have been a weather balloon as I believe they sometimes have a silver color and could reflect the sun. Even with the binoculars I could not be 100% sure what it was.

                Christmas is coming and I have a photo of the Cacti Christmas trees that are growing in our front yard.

There are to be 4 small Christmas trees on the cacti plant, and we will then be ready to celebrate Christmas. If you would like to send gifts to us ole Ford’s, they would be appreciated.   

Today’s big events: I do have rehab this afternoon, and it is later than I like.

                We have another cool morning here in Hewitt, it is 48 degrees as I start this soon to be boring article. Oh, I do wish you a good morning!

                Let’s see if the old Fords did anything yesterday. We did go to the cracker store for lunch with a friend, the food was good but the service was a little slow. After eating lunch, my favorite wife and our friend Nellie went shopping. There is a store that is closing and they were selling many items at 75% off. My favorite wife purchased a few items for her and me.

                I went home after lunch all alone with no one to talk with. I decided I would start washing the clothes and then while the washer was working, I would rest on the ole recliner. After a short rest I put the washed clothes in the dryer and started another load in the washer.

I then proceeded out to the garage where I started dismantling the big ole rocking chair. I had the chair sitting out by the curb in hopes that someone would want to take it but since no one took it I decided to take it apart so I could put the pieces into the trash to dispose of them.  

While I was working on the destruction of the ole rocker my favorite wife and friend returned to the homestead, and I learned about all they had done. They had fun shopping and my favorite wife purchased some clothes for herself and me. I did get the ole rocker destroyed and I did pick up the bolt’s, screws, and washer from the garage floor.

I was able to finish washing and drying the clothes and we sat outside for a while enjoying the nice weather. If there had been a breeze it would have been too cool for us to be outside.

Todays possible events; I need a couple things from the grocery store, the cleaning lady is scheduled to be here today, and we have bible study this evening so I need to review the homework prior to the meeting.

                Good morning, it is another cool morning here at the Fords homestead.

                This post should be short and sweet starting with yesterday’s events. Our favorite grandson, and when I refer to him as our favorite, he reminds me that he is our only grandson, did come over and mowed the yards for us. I removed a lot of the debris from the front and back yards prior to mowing. That was to much work for a 92-year-old man, and it was to much for me too.

                After a quick shower my favorite wife and I headed into Waco for lunch. The food and service was good. Back at home we kicked back and did very little before heading outside later in the afternoon for some conversations with a good friend.

                Today’s possible schedule: we have plans to go to the Cracker store for lunch and a friend is planning on going with us. After lunch my favorite wife and our friend plan to go shopping together and I guess I will go home alone. I do need some time to do my bible study homework as I did not finish yesterday’s lesson.

                Good morning to you and yes, it is a good morning here at the Ford homestead. I have been able to repair my computer, so I am no longer using the very old computer and using the newer old computer.

                After a little prayer it came to me that I should take the computer which wasn't working and tap it a couple times. The tapping I assume was to see if there was something in the receptacle where the charger should connect. I then took a magnifying glass with a light looked inside the charging device both of them and I know that doesn't make any sense to you but that's what I did and I found the problem and not trying to explain it completely I straightened up a metal pen and now it charges.

                Yesterday was a very windy day and as I saw it, it was too windy for me to be outside in the yard working. There is a lot of debris in the front yard it's small pieces that have come off the trees which I will remove hopefully before Alex gets here to do the yard work today. Yes, Alex has agreed to do the yard work and I do not have to go get him he will drive himself over here.

                If I get the debris up quick enough, he will start mowing there then I will go to the backyard and try to remove the dog Poopa-Loopa before he starts mowing back there, so as you can see, we have a lot of things to do, and many things to pick up.

                We have no other plans for the day we will just see how things go.

                It is very cool outside with the temp in the upper 40s, so I will need a long-sleeved shirt or a sweatshirt. Other news, I was allowed to turn the furnace on this morning.

            We have a windy and cool good morning here in Hewitt, the temp is 62 degrees and they say it will stay in the 60s all day. I think winter is here.

            Wow, I hit the enter key on this key board and it stuck down. it took a few seconds for me to get it to stop going down.

            I am still using the old computer and it is slower than me, and that is pretty slow. Using this computer I can still post to the blog but I am not able to edit the blog after I have posted. In the past I would post to the blog then edit the page when I wanted to add a photo but I haven’t learned how to do that yet.

            Yesterday another do-everything day; I went to the bank and asked a couple questions and I did learn something, I went to the store and purchased some tooth paste, yes we were about out. I was able to talk my favorite wife into going in to Waco with me and we had a sandwich at the lunch place and then went to the store where we purchased a few items like a frozen Pizza. Actually, it wasn’t frozen but it is now as I put it into our freezer.

            We did go to the early supper as we usually do on Thursday but our friends from down the street didn’t go this time. Back at home we did set outside and as usual we talked about birds, clouds, and how quiet the neighborhood was, we did not see any drones fly over. Interesting conversations?

            Speaking of friends, and yes ole people do have friends. Our friend Darel brought us some “smoked salmon” for our supper Wednesday evening. My favorite wife and I had never eaten “smoked salmon” before. You might be wondering if it was good and we say it wasn’t good it was great! Let me say, there was none left as we both ate it all! Wow it is good to have very nice friends and neighbors.

            I am putting a photo in this post and we will see how it looks, since as I stated earlier I can’t edit the blog. The photo is of the two chairs on the front porch. Yes I have removed the old chairs and replaced them with two from the back porch. 

       

            Big plans for today, we might go to the cheap store and see if we can get some new cushions for the chairs on the front porch and the chair on the driveway.
