Good morning to all and our day is starting out well.

We got through yesterday without too many problems, the doctor visit was ok, they gave me shots at the bottom of three of my fingers to help with the trigger finger. Two seem to be improving already and one is taking its time. I did get to enjoy some bible reading yesterday but I did not read from the Charlie Kirk book.

My favorite wife and I went into Waco yesterday afternoon about 3:30 and the traffic was heavy. I have spoken of this traffic in the past and it occurred again yesterday. As we approached a traffic light I pointed out to my favorite wife. “That the number of vehicles in front of us will probably take four light changes before we get through”. In the past at this same traffic light and about the same time in the afternoon I was in line and the light did change 4 times before I got through. It happened again yesterday.

We stopped at the chicken salad store and purchased some meals to go for our suppers. Back at home we sat outside enjoying the afternoon.

After supper I was allowed to go out back and provide some water for the three black berry beds. There is a lot of weeds and dead vines that still need to be removed. With the possibility of some cooler weather and some possible rain I might be able to get my ole tired body outside and work on the beds.

Today, I took Alex to school, and I am working on this article. I do plan to go to the store for a few grocery items this morning and do my bible reading. Who knows what else an ole senior person might do.

I will stop. We hope you have a blessed day and please stay safe in all you do. You are in our prayers.

August 31, 2026

Good morning to you all, I have already taken Alex to school, and I have been to the doctor’s office. I received three shots at the base of three of my fingers for trigger finger. My appointment was scheduled for 8:35 and I arrived early due to the short drive after dropping Alex off at school at 7:30. I was finished and out of the building before 8:35. My fingers are somewhat numb, and the shots hurt a little but not too much.

No plans for today, part of the front yard needs to be mowed but not all of it.

Sunday was a lazy day for me other than the housework I was required I mean allowed to do. I vacuumed the floors and washed two loads of clothes. I was allowed to cook supper, also known as putting items in the microwave.

Well, I need to rest from all this creative writing, I will stop and take a break. We pray that you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. You are in our prayers.

August 30, 2026

It appears we are starting another good morning here and there.

Unusual event. This happened the other evening, I had gone outside with some items to put in the trash can and that completed, I walked over to the gate where I looked up at the sky while I prayed. The sky was a dull blue in color and the sun was down. Toward the end of my prayer, I saw one star appear in the dull blue sky. Yep, I consider that an unusual event.

Saturday was a good day; we went into Waco for lunch and we decided to go to a restaurant that we had not been to for several years. When we had completed lunch we both indicated that we should have gone somewhere else for lunch.

Lunch over we returned to the homestead where we rested. My favorite wife decided to make a cherry cheese cake. At the end of the process, she then began going through the knives and other items in the drawers separating and placing then in a manner where they are easy to get to.

We went outside later than usual but it was still hot. With a cool drink in hand and the big ole fan blowing we enjoyed the quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood is usually quiet, and it seems a little odd when we think it is quieter than usual, and that is what we thought yesterday.

One of the tasks while sitting outside in the afternoon is watching the drones. When we see a drone come over, and if it is going slow, that means that it is going to be making a delivery. Deliveries within a block of our sight we often observe as much as possible. The drone flys to the location for its delivery, it stops, then it goes down and we start guessing whose house is getting the package. At about ten feet above the ground the drone drops the package, then it goes back up. We have noticed it goes up a little higher for its return flight than when it came for the delivery.

At one point my favorite wife suggested that we should walk down the street, so we ventured forth. As we walked a neighbor lady came out and walked with us. We made it to the cul-de-sac and started back up the street when another neighbor came out and brought us some cake to take home with us as it was his wife’s birthday. Back at home the next-door neighbor came out with her grand kids, and we had some fun discussions. The one grandson who is 8 years old wanted to mow our front yard.

All that excitement over, my favorite wife and friend sat outside while I went inside to prepare supper. The microwave worked as expected and supper was ready. The neighbor lady left and we went inside to eat. When the meal was eaten, we did have the birthday cake, and it was good.

As to today’s events, we will likely go to the cracker store for lunch and then who knows, maybe another rest period.

I know you want me to stop so I will stop, so you can get started. We hope you have a blessed day, and we all stay safe in all we do. You are in our prayers.

August 29, 2026

Good morning to you and if it is afternoon when you look at this, good afternoon to you.

Yesterday was a normal day, I did go to the store for a couple grocery items and when I returned home my favorite wife and I went into Waco where we had a quick lunch and then went to a different store for some other grocery items.

Back at home we did rest for a while then my favorite wife chopped some Lettuce and tomatoes and also prepared some Broccoli into a Broccoli salad. Items ready for supper.

A friend dropped by and we all sat outside in the heat with cold drinks in hand. Our conversations went from bible comments to the olden days when we were kids. One of the kid thoughts was when we got our first TV. I was 7 years old when Mom and Dad purchased their first TV. It was a big TV with rabbit ears on it and the local TV station started a couple days after we got the TV.

Prior to the TV my brother Jack and I would listen to the radio in the evenings, one of the radio programs was called Sargent Preston of the Yukon, and he had a dog whose name I believe was Yukon King.

Olden day discussions are always interesting to us ole people.

This morning started out with me getting to sleep a little longer. I did let the dog Tres out at a little before 4:00am and I did get back into bed and was allowed to stay there until a little after 5:00am.

When I let the cat go outside, I noticed that the outside temp was actually a cool 74 degrees. Heck, we might have a good day with less heat.

I had a cup of homemade coffee, and I attempted to watch the morning news.

I had noticed that there was a small limb down in the back yard, so I decided to cut it into small pieces and put them in the trash container.

The limb finished I went to the number 3 berry bush and started removing some more of the dead vines and weeds. I got to work on the berry bed for about 30 minutes before the sun started shining on me and then I stopped working. I am now back in the house and entering data for this article.

I have big plans for today, the first is to take a shower and then rest as I attempt to find something else to do.

I will stop for now, we hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. You are in our prayers.

August 28, 2026

Good morning to you and that other person too.

Yesterday’s events: As usual I took Alex to school, and when I returned to the homestead, I took a nap.

Allow me to comment on the reason for the nap. My dog woke me up at 3:30am as he needed to go outside. I was back in bed by 3:45 and at 4:30 he woke me up again. I took him to the back door, and he went out but did not leave the porch as it was thundering off in the distance. He came back in and we both sat in the TV room with the cat Molly as neither of them liked the thunder.

Later in the morning my favorite wife and I decided to go out for breakfast, we both had ham and cheese omelets and they were very good, along with good service. Back at home I did some reading in the bible and after a short rest period I read some from the Charlie Kirk book. Other than reading most of the day I sat around doing very little as I did not want to go out in the heat and work.

We did go out for our usual Thursday evening supper, also known as date night, and we had supper with Larry and Janice. Now this was not as usual, we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated even though there were tables available. We are not sure why there were so many people there at that time of the day, as we go early to avoid the crowds.

I should inform you of the amount of water in the rain gage from yesterday morning’s rain, it was a little less than ¼ inch. Any amount of rain is better than none.

Today if it is cloudy this morning, I might go out to the black berry bed and attempt to remove the dead vines along with some weeds. I do not intentionally work in the sun. I also want to get Alex to school safely and on time and I should attempt to go to the grocery store for a couple of items. As you can see, ole people have things to do, but will they do them.

It is time to stop this data entry and consider a cup of coffee. We pray that you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. We are keeping you in our prayers.

August 27, 2026

We are having a good and slightly wet morning here in Hewitt, Tx, so that means a good morning to all.

Review of yesterday; nothing new happened. I did get Alex to school on time; I did return home after dropping him off at school and had some cereal for breakfast. After that delicious meal I headed to the doctor’s office for my eye checkup. They do not accept money or checks for any payments, only credit cards.

I did get checked in and I found a seat to sit on while I waited to be called back. There were several people who were called back while I waited, then the lady who does my testing walked into the waiting room where I was sitting and just stood there about 20 feet away saying nothing. She did not call my name, but I knew she was after me. I got up and we walked back to the testing room. After all the tests were completed, the doctor came in and checked my eyes. All the testing and checking done, I returned to the homestead for a rest period.

They dilate my eyes and that bothers me for several hours, so I do nothing other than attempt to stay away from any bright light.

At lunch time we decided to get some chicken for lunch, so we drove to the chicken place and purchased our lunches.

Lunch over my eyes were still dilated but I could read from the bible and also from the book by Charlie Kerk.

My eyes were back to normal when we went outside about 4:00pm. It was hot but the big ole fan was helping. I have a photo of some blooms.

At bedtime the weather people were saying we might get some rain during the night hours, so I predicted ½ inch of rain. We have been receiving some light rain this morning, but we have not come close to my predicted amount, ½ inch of rain, but the rain we have and are receiving is appreciated. My predictions do not always work.

Today we have no plans other than to attempt to get Alex to school on time.

I need to stop and get dressed, so we wish you a blessed and safe day. You are in our prayers, please keep us in yours.

August 26, 2026

Good morning again to you, and to the person who gets up late, good afternoon to you.

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my annual visit and today I go to another doctor for my annual eye checkup. I do want to get some new glasses so I guess this visit may be beneficial.

Yesterday was a cloudy day but it was still hot and we did nothing that would be interesting to any of our friends, aka you.

As usual we sat outside yesterday afternoon and at one point I was allowed to go out to the backyard and water the black berry beds along with the flowers in pots while my favorite wife was on the phone with her niece.

I did get a call from an old friend who lives in Missouri yesterday, and his comments are always interesting.

Well, I don’t have anything exciting to present to you so I will say have a blessed day and be safe in all you do.

August 25, 2026

Good morning to you all, please be careful if you go out in the heat today.

Yesterday was an ok day, I did go to the store to get some grocery items and that is about all I did. Our cleaning lady did a good job. My favorite wife and I sat outside in the heat with the big ole fan blowing on us. I assume neighbors wonder why we sit outside together most afternoons and there is a reason. This is time together when we are away from the TV and napping in our chairs. We actually talk to each other when we are outside. The neighborhood is always quiet but, on the occasion, when someone drives by we usually acknowledge them with a wave. It is time together and we often discuss the past. (I have made that comment before and felt as if I needed to say it again today.)

It has been so hot and dry that I ran the lawn sprinklers yesterday afternoon, and they are scheduled to run again this morning.

Today I get to go to the doctor for my annual checkup. Also, today my favorite grandson is scheduled to go to the DMV to take his driver’s test. When I call him my favorite grandson, he reminds me he is my only grandson. That is true, and he is still my favorite.

I guess I should stop and get started. We pray that you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. You are in our prayers.

August 24, 2026

A bright and cheerful good morning to you and may your day be filled with happiness.

Yesterday was a normal day for us here at the Ford homestead, we did as usual go to the cracker store for lunch. On the way to lunch I said to my favorite wife, “there will be two handicapped parking spaces available when we get there and there will be a car parked in between the two handicapped spaces”. My favorite wife gave me the look, as I do often speculate as to whether we will get a handicapped parking space or not, while on the way anywhere.

Then I looked at the clock in the car and it was 10:58 so I said, “if we get there before 11:00 the handicapped spaces may be different”, I should slow down, but I was too close to slow down so I drove around the building to the handicapped parking spaces. There were three spaces, so I pulled into one and then I looked at the clock, and it was 11:00.

Since we were in the third space there were two left and there was a vehicle parked in between the two spaces, it was 11:00.

I was correct when I said that there would be two handicapped spaces available when we arrived with a car in between them. Most of the time my parking predictions are wrong.

Today’s big events, take Alex to school, go to the grocery store for a few items, the cleaning lady will come to the house, and we will see if anything else happens.

I did have problems with accessing the blog yesterday, but later I was able to make things work.

I am stopping for now and I pray that we all have a blessed day, and that we stay safe in all we do. We are keeping you in our prayers.

August 23, 2026

Good Sunday morning to you, it is supposed to be extremely hot today so be careful if you go outside.

As most everyone knows, my favorite wife and I set outside most afternoons, and while we are outside, I have noticed that there is an occasional leaf floating high in the sky and they have a tendency to fall in my sight. I have a photo of one of those leaves, and I have a photo of a tall tree that these leaves sometimes fly over before coming to the ground.

My questions are; where does the dried-up leaf come from, and how does it get that high in the air?

Yesterday’s main events in chronological order: we went to Arby’s for lunch. We went to the hardware store where I purchased $45.00 worth of items all for my favorite wife, I got nothing. Back at home after a rest period, we went outside to set. A friend came over to sit with us and brought a bottle of wine, which she and my favorite wife consumed. Main topics of discussion was the heat, the need for rain and our aches and pains.

Different topic, as I had noted on the 21st, Tres had received some chew sticks and he enjoyed them. Well, yesterday I decided to give him one, so I took him out in the back yard and gave him the stick. He seemed very happy as usual, but he did not start chewing on the stick, instead he started walking around the yard with the stick in his mouth. I stepped inside and watched him. He was trying to find a place to hide the chew stick. It took him some time, but he did go to a flower bed and dug a hole and then covered the chew stick with dirt. I guess it is saved for a later day when he is hungry.

Today we will likely go to the cracker store for lunch. No big plans other than that for today.

Note: our son Patrick and his wife Karla bought a new pickup truck yesterday. The old truck had lots of problems, and it was about 13 years old.

Ok, that is it for now my old body needs to rest from all this data entry. We hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Yes, you are in our prayers!

August 22, 2026

Good morning to all, we are expecting another hot day so be careful if you go outside and work.

Yesterday started in a normal fashion with coffee and taking Alex to school. Back at home I did rest before my bible reading. My favorite wife and I went to the bank to cash the check we had received (a little over $100). Now that we had some money to spend, she allowed me to take her to the store as there were a few items that she wanted to purchase. Leaving that store we went to another store for a couple more items. It is so nice when you have money to spend.

Store hopping finished we went to a restaurant that we had never been to before. We went to this restaurant because a lady who use to be a wait staff at our regular restaurant and whom we considered a friend, had changed jobs and we wanted to see her. This restaurant has Sea food and Mexican food. Lunch was good, the wait staff were good, and we did get to visit with the lady friend.

Back at home I again rested for a while before I started reading a book by Charlie Kirk. This book was given to us by a good friend, and I believe it is going to be very interesting.

We set outside yesterday afternoon in the 104-degree heat with no visitors and nothing exciting happening, heck even the drones were not flying over.

Today, the yard man Alex is scheduled to come over and mow. I have no other plans at this time; we will need to wait and see what happens.

We hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. We are keeping you in our prayers.

August 21, 2026

As usual we are starting with a good morning here at the Fords homestead and we hope your morning is also starting off as a good morning.

What were the events for the Don yesterday? We all know he took Alex to school and that he rested for a while before starting his bible reading. After the bible reading was completed and lunch served, the Don decided to go out in the back forty (aka back yard) and remove the dead vines from the number 3 bed. Yes, it was hot (103) as the Don ventured forth to work in the heat, I should note he was working in the shade of the tree.

Now for some reason the Don went to a flower bed and started removing weeds and dead flowers from the bed. This took a while and the Don did take a break to get a glass of cold water to sustain his ole body in the heat.

When he finished the flower bed he then headed to the number 3 berry bed and proceeded to remove dead vines. I should note that there were more small trees and odd plants than there were dead vines, but there were plenty of dead vines too. I was able to clear maybe a fourth of the berry bed before heading into the house to cool down.

I was allowed to take a shower and get dressed so we could go to our early supper. We go early on Thursday to beat the crowds. Food was good and our server was even better.

Back at home we sat outside for a while before walking down to one of our neighbors and good friend’s house. We visited for a while and then we returned to the Ford homestead where a delivery driver from Amazon delivered a package to us that we had not ordered. We sat outside and we opened the surprise package. It was for our dog Tres, and it was natural dog chews, I call them chew sticks. Tres took one and found a place to lay in the grass and chewed away. Tres says thank you for the chew sticks.

Let us see what our plans for today may be. We have a check that came to us and it needs to be cashed; we could use part of that money for breakfast or lunch out. As usual we have no definite plans so we will just wait and see what happens.

I should stop and get started, we hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Let us pray for our friends and families.

August 20, 2026

Good morning, the sun is up, I've taken Alex to school and made it back home safely. I'm sitting here entering data into this computer. I really should be outside pulling some weeds while it's still halfway cool but I'm in here at the computer.

Today is Thursday and our big plan for the day would be, go out to supper this evening. The couple the lives at the end of the street go to supper with us occasionally and that provides us with some interesting conversations about the olden days when we had kids and we used to go fishing and hunting and things like that.

As You may be able to see we have a very interesting day planned, not.

I am going to stop for now we hope everyone has a blessed day that we all stay safe in all we do and that we are nice to at least one person.

August 19, 2026

Is the morning starting off good, I guess it depends on how you look at it. I got up earlier than I wanted to, due to the dog. The TVs are not working, and I have a cup of home-made coffee as I begin to attempt to enter data on this computer. Under normal conditions I would turn the TV off while entering data, so I guess it is a Good Morning, but I don’t like the TV being off unless “I” want it off.

I have drunk my cup of homemade coffee, so I guess I should concentrate on this data entry. I am attempting to see if I or we did anything yesterday. Nope, we did nothing that would be interesting to anyone.

I dropped Alex off at school and then I had an hour before my appointment at the blood taker, (aka doctor). I attempted to turn in across the traffic at the doctor’s office but was unable as the traffic was backed up from a traffic light. I drove down the road and found a place where I could turn around and head back to the doctor’s office. Arriving early, I waited in the car for a while. I did get into the doctor’s office, and they did remove blood from me, that wasn’t very interesting.

Leaving the doctor’s office I did go to the gas station and got gas. In the olden days there were both gas stations and service stations. They both sold gas, but the service station would also work on vehicles.

Gas in the vehicle, I went to the Star coffee place for a cup of coffee. Coffee in hand I drove to the bank, and they were not yet open. I waited for about 5 minutes and they open the doors. I went inside and they could not help me as the computer was messing up. I left the bank and went home.

At home I rested for a while and then I did my bible reading. A little before lunch I went back to the bank, and they were able to help me; the computer was working.

The rest of the day was a do-nothing day. We sat outside for a while. We like being outside as it gets us away from the TV and we communicate better with less distractions.  I did get to water the flowerpots and provide some water for the birds.

Today: I should go to the store and get a few items. Oh, the TV did come back on. I need to get ready to get Alex and take him to school, so I will stop for now. We hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

August 18, 2026

Good early morning to all, we hope all have a blessed day, and that we all stay safe in the extreme heat.

Yesterday was a normal day with no exciting activities. I did a couple small projects in the yard, and we did set outside with the big ole fan blowing on us as the heat was 103. We did allow ourselves to get a to-go supper from a local restaurant and it was good.

Today I need to take Alex to school on time and then drop by the doctors office and let them remove some blood from my ole body. They are not vampires, at least I don’t think they are, the blood is to be reviewed prior to my visit with the doctor next week. I am not supposed to eat before the blood removal. After my visit to the vampire office I mean doctor’s office, I will attempt to drop by the Star coffee place and get a cup before heading to the bank. I have a couple things I want ask them about.

Wow, I am done with this article and now I will rest or maybe I will get dressed. We hope you have a wonder filled day and that you are blessed in all you do. Please stay safe in all this heat.

August 17, 2026

We seem to be having a good morning here in Hewitt, we hope other locations are having good morning too.

I did get my favorite grandson Alex to school on time this morning and as I see it, he will have 7 days before he goes for his driver’s test. This is his 4th day of school this year and he has an English test today.

Let’s look at yesterday’s happenings; we went to the cracker store, and we had to wait to be seated. Then we placed our order and we waited too long to get the order. When they brought the order to our table, we saw that it was not what we had ordered. The waitstaff then removed it from our table and put it on another couple’s table. They were not happy with that and a manager was called; they received fresh orders. We continued to wait and finally we spoke with a manager and then our orders came to the table. Food good, service bad!

Back at home we did very little, I did get my bible reading accomplished, and about 4:00pm when we went outside to sit. I started washing the clothes about the same time that we went outside. It was hot and the big ole fan was providing a breeze. As usual it was a quiet afternoon in the neighborhood.

The first load was washed and put in the dryer and the second load was inserted in the washer. I could sit outside for a while and then go check on the washing process. It was determined that I should water the potted plants that were near the driveway, so Tres and I went out back and got the water hose then I watered the potted plants. Never any rest for the old people.

I have a photo of a bloom that is from the Moon Plant. This plant blooms at night and when the sun gets on it the next day the bloom goes away. There is a bee on the bloom.

At one point I was unloading the dryer when a friend pulled into the driveway. We all sat around and talked for a while, most of the conversation was about their car and all the things the car could do. Oh, they also brought my favorite wife and I a red velvet cupcake and they were better than good, they were great. I guess we will need to learn where they bought the cupcakes.

After our friends left, we went inside and had our leftovers from the cracker store for lunch.

                Today’s plans…

Since I have no plans, I guess I should stop entering data and do nothing. We hope you have good plans for the day and that we all have a safe and blessed day.

                Donnie the do-nothing Ford

August 16, 2026

                Good Sunday morning to all.

We had a very good day yesterday; the family all came to our house for a while then we all went into Waco for lunch. It is always good when we can all get together. The food and service were good. After lunch Dave, Claire, Alex, Gabi and Bryce had things to do so they did not come to our house while Patrick and Karla came to our house for a while.

I should note that after eating if I get in my ole recliner and sit still, I will become sleepy, and that happened while Patrick and Karla were here yesterday. A lot of good conversations keep me awake but if the room gets quiet for a few minutes I get sleepy.

My favorite wife and I sat outside yesterday afternoon, and the neighborhood was quieter than normal. I did notice something that has been on the door of the garage for many years. And I have a photo for my enjoyment.

The Texas flag has been on the door for at least 20 years. I attached it with a couple magnets, and it is always hanging there. But I usually do not pay any attention to the flag but for some reason it caught my attention and I took the photo.

Today’s big plan is to go to the cracker store for lunch and then return home kick back and do nothing.

Wow, that is a short number of words. We pray you have a blessed day and that we are all safe in all we do.

Our morning is starting off as a good morning; I have put a water sprinkler on an area of the yard that does not get enough water from the lawn sprinklers.

I had a breakfast sandwich, you know, the sandwich that needs to be put in the microwave and heated. Well, this sandwich had cheese and sausage but no egg, yep, they had forgotten the egg. What a way to start my day.

Yesterday, aka my birthday: the day started with a free cup of coffee from the star coffee place. I also took Alex to school and upon returning to my home, I kicked back in the Ford’s ole recliner for about 10 minutes enjoying the free coffee.

Coffee ingested; I headed out back to remove the dog Poopa-Loopa from the back yard. I then decided to go ahead and mow the back yard as about half of it needed to be mowed, while the other half does not get watered and it did not need to be mowed. The yard mowed I then decided to get the string trimmer and trim the back yard. I should note that there was some clouds that reduced the amount of sunlight and there was the occasional breeze that help this ole person to work.

As I was working a friend from down the street came to the fence and got my attention. I walked over to talk with her, and she wished me a happy birthday. She also gave me a birthday card and asked why I was working on my birthday.

Back at work I completed the work and then dragged my ole body into the house in an attempt to cool off before taking a shower.

Shower taken and clothes put on I then forced my ole body to head out to the Wally world store for a couple items. While on the way I decided to go to the hair stylists, also known as barber, to get my hair cut. I was the only customer at that time, and it took about 5 minutes from the time arrived to the time I left.

Hair trimmed I then continued to the store and I will note, “One should avoid all grocery stores on Friday as too many people are there shopping”. There were plenty of shoppers and almost as many employees in the aisles of the store. I did find the things I needed and was able to make it back to the homestead.

Groceries put away I asked my favorite wife if she wanted to go with me into Waco to get a bottle of adult beverage, to which she agreed. We left the house a little after 3:00 so school was not out and traffic was not too bad. I was able to get the bottle and on the way home traffic was terrible. At one traffic light in Waco the line in front of us was so long the light changed four times before we got through the light. We were lucky when we got back to Hewitt, school was not yet out so traffic was not too bad.

Back at home we decided to sit outside with the big ole fan blowing on us. Our friend came over and visited with us as usual on Friday, we had many conversations about our kids and many of the olden day events.

Well let’s see what might happen today.  Patrick and Karla are coming up and Dave and Claire along with Alex will come over. We do not know if Gabi and Brice will come or not, but we will go out for lunch together.

The rest of the day we do not know what might happen, we will wait and see. I am now stopping this too long article, and I hope to get a little rest. We hope everyone has a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Prayers help!

August 14, 2026

Good morning to you and happy birthday to me. I am 29 years old again for the 50th time. If you know how to add and if you were to add 29 + 50 = 29 and that is how old the Don is today.

Birthday events may include a free coffee from the Star coffee place as it is my birthday, take my favorite grandson to school, possibly pick up items from the back yard and maybe mow the back yard, go to the store for a couple grocery items and…

Yesterday we did very little. We received a bid for replacing the two storm doors and it was over $3,000.00, I told him no and he got up and left the house. We do have better bids, and we will use one of them. We did go to an early supper at the George’s restaurant with friends, the food was good and the conversations were mostly about olden days as we have both lived in the neighborhood for more than 45 years. Our kids grew up here and we use to get together a lot.

Back home we did not sit outside as it was 102 degrees and that was too hot.

Well, that is it for now, we pray that you will have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

August 13, 2026

Good morning or good afternoon depending on when you read this article.

Let’s look at yesterday’s events. I did get the grandson to school for his first day yesterday, and I plan to do it again today. I received a call yesterday wanting to know if I had a birthday, and I have not. This person noted that we had received a cake, and we have, and it is very good. Photo to follow.

I have the cake positioned so you cannot see how much had been eaten, the cake is good!

I received a text from a different friend who said there would be a drone delivery in their front yard. If we wanted to watch they would let us know when it was on the way. I got a couple photos for those who have not seen the drones.

Photo one is of the drone as it arrived and was lowering; the drone stays about 10 feet above the ground, and then drops the box to the ground, and then goes back up and fly back to the distribution center.

Photo two is just a closer look at the drone.

Our friends did come over after the drone delivery, and we sat out on the front porch talking for a while. We should have gone inside as it was very hot. Lots of discussions about the olden days, past jobs and the motorcycle that has at times hot-rodded on our street.

Today’s plans: I should go out back and mow the back yard but I might postpone that until tomorrow. We are supposed to have someone come this morning and give us a bid on replacing the two storm doors. Today is Thursday and we usually go out for supper on Thursday afternoon late, also known as date-night.

I stopped at the Star Coffee Place to get a cup before I picked Alex up for school. I had enough points to get a free cup of coffee.

I guess that will be it for now, have a blessed day, stay safe in all you do, keep family and friends in your prayers.
