March 30, 2024

What? Its Saturday again. Didn’t we just have a Saturday a couple days ago? This is crazy, how many Saturdays can we have in a week? OK, let’s get started, good morning to you and your friends, we hope all have a good day and good weekend. You should remember that Easter is not just for easter eggs, it does have a more important meaning, and it will affect all of us!

As you can see, the Don made it through another week of doing nothing. Now that you know what I haven’t done, allow me to tell you the one thing I remember doing. I did review the front yard for new oak trees. I did not find any, I assume that being mowed twice they may not want to come back up, but we will keep an eye on the yard.

You know I said I did nothing yesterday, but it seems as if I might have done something, if I had done nothing why would I be tired and have some sore muscles. Ok, ole people don’t have muscles, and we don’t remember everything we do. It seems as if I got the Fords ole string trimmer out and put some gas in it. I think I tried to start it and it was acting crazy as usual. If I could remember, I probably decided to fix the old unit (for that one person who knows we have the other gas-powered trimmer that Alex likes, but I did not get it) and if I repaired the ole unit, it would have started, almost like a new unit.

If I could remember, I probably headed for the ditch out back and first reviewed the area for fire ants. Locating the mounds I would have begun the trimming process. If I could remember I would probably say the weeds on this side of the ditch averaged about a foot tall. If I could remember I probably ran out of string and had to refill the trimmer with string, which would have allowed me to rest a few minutes.

If all the above happened, I would probably have gone back to the ditch and continued trimming. Being an ole person, if I would have finished the trimming on the close side of the ditch, I would have taken a break to get some water and rest the ole body before going to the other side of the ditch. I would have likely sat on the front porch drinking the bottle of water. As I rested, I might have thought, I could water the flowers in pots here in front of the house while I am resting. I would have gotten the hose and provided water to all the potted plants.

After that rest period I might have gone to the back yard thinking I should get to work on the other side of the ditch, but not being focused on the work ahead, I may have decided to rest a little longer and water the potted plants in the back 40. Wow, another 20 minutes of rest! I would have likely taken a photo of a blooming flower that I had sprayed with water, while I was resting.

There is a good chance that I would have gone to the ditch and found a way to get over the mud and water at the bottom of the ditch, and then began the weed trimming. If that would have happened the weeds on the other side of the ditch were 2 to 3 feet tall, and it would have been a difficult task to knock them down.

Probably if all that would have happened the Don would have put the equipment away and headed to the homestead for a shower. Likely as he finished his shower his favorite wife would have returned home from her shopping. She would have been commenting on the fact that everyone was out shopping, there were few parking places, and that she finally found all the items she was looking for.

Things that I remember happening yesterday: my favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday afternoon and enjoy the quiet time.

Well, another nothing day has passed, we hope your day will be memorable, that you have fun and please stay safe.

Can’t remember?

March 29, 2024

Is it Fry-day again, what will you be frying today? Oh, I will stop trying to be funny, even though most ole people are funny, and I will say good Morning to you, but not to that one person who is mean to us ole people.

It is Good Friday; we hope you take the time to consider the meaning of Good Friday.

Let me comment on a subject, expectations; now this is a very simple comment that we all should consider. Something that has happened time and time again, and we assume (ass-u-me) that it will continue to happen, but since no one said anything about the event, some could be unsure if it would happen.

What is the event, one might ask. It is Easter dinner at the parents’ house.

4 days before Easter one son asks his dad, what are you doing for Easter? The dad said we are doing what we always do, your mom is getting all the necessary things together for the Easter dinner. The son said, we had not heard anything, so we were not sure if it was happening this year, is my brother coming up for Easter. The dad said, I assume he is coming but I have not asked him.

That afternoon the dad called the other son to see if they were coming up on Easter, and he said he had not even thought about it, and yes, they are coming up.

Sometimes we get so use to the same thing happening, that we forget to even discuss it, as we assume everyone knows it is going to happen. We should talk about usual things, and also ask questions.

Different topic: will the Don do anything today, or will it be another day of nothingness for an ole senior person? I have thought that I might attempt to remove weeds from the ditch behind the homestead. Assuming I will get started on this project I will need to be very watchful for the fire ants. The ditch is covered in weeds even though half of it has been trimmed I think twice this year. The ruts in the bottom of the ditch make it difficult for an ole person to navigate without falling. It is tough for ole people, we have to do all the work and we have to be careful when we are working. Do you really think ole people can do two things, “work and be careful”, at once.

The kids are out of school today so I will only need to get Dave from work.

My favorite wife and I did go out for supper last night and returning home we did sit outside for a while. The weather was good and the quiet time was nice.

I did get my book about Revelations yesterday, and I hope to get some time today to start reading it, but I still need to do my bible study homework and I do still read from the bible daily,

Well, I hope that is enough words for the day, please be safe in all you do, think a couple positive thoughts while you are doing the daily chores.

March 28, 2024

Well, we made it to another day, and we hope it is a good day for all. As usual, I have nothing to enlighten the public with today, so I will just say have a good day, and I will halt my data entry process, changing to a take it easy time with a cup of homemade coffee.

I will not comment on Easter coming this weekend, or that there is a religious meaning to Easter. I did ask Alex yesterday, he is now 14 years old, if he was excited about hunting for some Easter eggs? He quickly responded with, “no”. I ask, “why not, you use to be excited when it came to hunting for easter eggs”? Alex just gave me the look, you know the look, it says without a single word, “are you crazy?” I continued driving him home and the rest of our discussions did not include Easter eggs. I did learn that school is out this Friday and I do not need to get the kids from school, so what will I do, ole people have nothing to do.

I did attempt to do a couple things yesterday; one was to get gas in the Ford’s ole Chevy. Since I was out and about, I thought I would get an expensive cup of real coffee, which I sipped on during the rest of the morning episode. I did stop at the teller machine and got the $5.00 stipend.

I then drove all the way into Waco, yes, it is a long trip of possibly 4 or 5 miles. It was about 10 minutes after ten o’clock when I arrived at the Booz Emporium, no that is not its real name, and I knew that the lady who run the place usually opened the store at 10:00am. The store was not open, there was a delivery truck sitting there waiting, the lady arrived, the drive through window bars were still locked shut, I decided not to wait so I headed for home with tears in my eyes and no adult beverage in the truck with me.

On the way home I decided to stop and get my clothes from the cleaners. I did make it back home just as the cup of real coffee was depleted.

I did walk through the front yard looking for the oak trees popping up, I did not find any but I assume they will return.

It is a bit warmer this morning than it was yesterday, and we should get to the low 70s this afternoon. We did get to sit outside yesterday and enjoy the quiet with no TV. One would think that leaving the TV off would be an easy task, but just having the sound of the TV when one is doing other things seems to be normal. We have gotten so use to having the TV on that is seems odd when you turn it off and the house is quiet. In the olden days, before everyone had TVs, the radio would be left on all the time, providing the person with the feeling that they were not totally alone.

That is all I have for this morning; we hope you have a good and safe day.

Another nothing day.

March 27, 2024

Good morning to everyone, we hope you all have a good day. The day is starting off a little cool here at the Ford’s homestead with a temp of 41 according to our temperature gage. They are saying it will be a cool day and possible storms this evening.

The stranger’s car is back, it is here almost every morning. Some male parks there at night and then walks, or sometimes runs away, returning the next day, where he gets into the vehicle and drives away. We do not know why he does that, some have speculated that he has a female friend on another street and don’t want people to know he is at her house, so he parks on our street. Maybe they just don’t want that ole ugly vehicle parked on their street.

Let’s talk about me, or should I say, let me talk about me. I did very little yesterday, I did set on the front porch with a cup of homemade coffee for a while, Tres was also there. I did pull some trees from the Jasmin bed yesterday. I am wondering, should I have a container with me to put the pulled trees in, to keep them off the ground. I pull them up and drop them and they often look like they have not been pulled up. That is a lot of work for an ole senior person. I did get a photo of a rose near the Jasmin bed.

I did vacuum yesterday, and I found that I had a problem. I ended up taking the unit apart, cleaning everything, washing the filter, and wiped everything down. I did let it sit outside most of the day to dry out, yes, I wiped it down with a wet cloth. Good news, when I put it back together it worked. Bad news, I will be allowed to use it today.

I am already tired of seeing the ship take down the bridge. They talk with different people, and we hear the same thing. They said that the ship put out a distress signal a couple minutes before hitting the bridge. I predict, we will learn that the ship was having problems at least 20 minutes before impact, and that they were trying to correct the problem. They will also learn that these problems have occurred before, but not in a harbor.

Today, I need to get gas in the Ford’s ole Chevy, I might want to get a bottle of adult beverage, I need to get the clothes from the cleaners. I hope to pick the kids up from school and get them home safely. Wow that is too much for an ole senior person to attempt to do.

Well, looking at the security cameras I see that today may be recycle day, I see recycle bins sitting out on the curbs. I guess I will need to put ours out before the truck runs. You are correct, there is not much rest for ole senior retired people.

We hope you have a good day, please be safe in all you do, and try to be nice to everyone.

March 26, 2024

Good morning to everyone, yes, even to you know who. It is a cool morning here in Hewitt, the sun is up, and we should have a high temp today in the mid-60s. All in all, it is a good start to the day. Well, I guess that is it, I have nothing else to present that you might be interested in.

I am not going into how the Bible study went last night, even though it was good, we had good participation in class, and some interesting conversations with participants, aka friends. The bible study is good and the lecture basically covers everything that was discussed in the class setting. I find it interesting when people are not totally focused on the study topic, and discuss various bible topics. It is interesting to get others points of view on various subjects.

We will have a “get together” prior to the meeting next week. There will be pizza to eat and we bring our own drinks. I liked the fact that in last year’s study group we sat at tables. This year we sit in chairs that are in a circle. Personally, I am more comfortable with the table to sit my book on. I do usually learn something, or better understand a topic due to the meeting.

Most of the men in the study groups are happy that we will be discussing Revelations next year.

What am I going to do today, probably very little. I would go out and pull the trees from the front yard but since they have been mowed, I can’t see them. They will pop back up with leaves and I will then be able to find them. Possibly I might get a photo of them when they return.  They have been the topic of discussion for a couple neighbors.

Well, I see that a ship knocked down a bridge and that is the topic of the day for the so-called news people.

Easter is this weekend, try to remember the meaning of easter other than the easter eggs and candy.

Well, I will stop for now, we hope your day is perfect, no problems, and lots of relaxation, along with staying safe in all we do, if we do anything.

Right but not left.

March 25, 2024

We have the start to another day here at the Ford’s homestead. It is raining this morning and has been raining on and off during the night hours. Maybe I should say, it is still dark outside so even though it is supposed to be morning, it is still night. There is some thunder and lightning going on but we are not supposed to have any severe storms. Oh, I almost forgot, “Good Morning to all”.

As I look at the security cameras, it appears that the rain is now increasing. I am glad we had our yard man over Sunday to mow the yards. Alex is getting better at all the work. Heck we even put together the string trimmer that I had purchased about a year ago. I found it on sale, so I bought it as a back up to the ole trimmer that I have had for several years. The ole trimmer works but it is hard to start, the new trimmer starts easy.

We did have breakfast with Alex and that was good, we made it home after eating and he took off doing the work. We had a slight problem with the battery power tire pump, the battery died. I was allowed to help by using the leaf blower to get the grass out of the street. I think it took about 2.5 hours including putting the new trimmer together.

We have no special plans for today, the rain keeps us inside. I may take some clothes to the cleaners, and I will attempt to get the kids home from school, we do have bible study this evening. It does not look like a busy day.

I did review the black berry beds yesterday and it appears that we may have a good crop again this year. There are blooms open and many buds coming on, and the stickers are very sharp.

The first photo is from the number 3 bed, the second is from the number one bed.

I guess I will stop for now, we hope your day is filled with goodness and please stay safe in all you do.

Stickers await.

March 24, 2024

Good morning to all, we hope your day has started out well, it is Sunday and we are supposed to have a windy day. Our plans for the day are to get Alex this morning about 9:30 and go to breakfast at the cracker store. We hope the wait to be seated will not be too long. Then our yard man Alex will mow and trim the weeds from the front and back yards.

Speaking of Alex, the boy scouts did pretty good with their car wash yesterday. The money they earn goes toward the cost of the summer camp.

I had a list of things I had planned to do yesterday, the only thing I do not remember doing was taking the nap. In addition to the list, I had provided of things to do yesterday, I did pull some trees from the front yard, I also watered the flowers in pots front and back yards. Then I also picked up the sticks and Poopa-Loopa from the back 40, I added a couple lights to the yard lights and adjusted the color to a few. When Dave was removing large flower pots from the shed, he found that some had fire ants in them.

We did sit outside yesterday with a friend, and there were many discussions, heck even our neighbor who was mowing his yard stopped and talked for a while. We learned that another neighbor has some medical problems. Most of the people in our block are considered senior citizens, so I guess medical problems are normal.

It would be nice if people when they were barned would be healthy all their lives and when their time came, they would just go to sleep and not wake up.

Well, this is a very short posting, I need to get going so I will say, “have a good day, take it easy, enjoy all you do and stay safe”.

Super short post.

March 23, 2024

Well, we are at, “Sat all Day”, again, and we have plans for the day. Did I say good morning to everyone, if I did, I take it back, you are the only one I wanted to say good morning to. You are my favorite, and I wish you a good morning, and I hope the rest of your day is also good.

So, what are the plans for the day? First compose this short blog, second vacuum the floors, third get the van washed at the boy scout washing place, fourth get a sandwich for lunch, fifth go to the cheap store, sixth go home, seventh take a nap, eighth get Alex and Dave from the boy scout wash station, ninth remove the big potted flower pots from the hot house, tenth take Dave and Alex home, eleventh return home and do nothing until time to sit outside.

Wow, I am already tired, that is too much for a senior retired person to do.

I have a couple photos which were taken as my favorite wife, and I sat outside yesterday afternoon.

The first photo is showing the bright blue sky next to the clouds. Ther were clouds everywhere and occasionally there would be an area of blue sky. The other photo should be self-explanatory. Tres is laying there close to Molly for protection from the squirrels. Molly is a very defensive sort, and she is Tres’ protection from all the bad things. If you don’t believe me, ask Tres.

We plan to have the Alex come over tomorrow and mow the yards. We thought we might offer to take him with us for breakfast at the Cracker store before he starts his work. We kind of assume he will be willing to join us for breakfast.

Well, that is it for today, this one really is short. We hope you have a good day, be safe in all you do, and please be nice to that one person, and you know who I am referring to.

Shortest blog ever.

March 22, 2024

Is it a good morning, yep, it is a good morning. We hope your day is starting out in a good way, and we hope it continues on in a nice way, and then finishes even better!

Well, I have nothing to talk about today, I did nothing yesterday, I don’t have plans for today. With that being said, I will get up from this ole desk and stagger into the front room where I will attempt to rest on the Ford’s ole worn out recliner. If I was like you real people, I would have interesting things to tell you, but, I aint like real people. (I am from Missouri; I can use the word aint!)

I wish I had something to relate to you all on this blog post, heck if I was to think of something to write about, I would just mess it up. By that I mean, I made my first mistake ever on the blog yesterday, and a good friend pointed it out to me. First mistake ever, again! I wonder how many times one can make their first mistake, before they are required to count a mistake as their second mistake? I have considered that thought for a while and I now believe, “we can consider all our mistakes as the first mistake as long as the mistake we make is not a repeat of a previous mistake”.         The following is an explanation of my comment.

Let’s say you are cooking some food and you forget to add salt. This is the first time you forgot to add salt, so that is your first mistake ever. Now if you forget to add salt at some point in the future, then you have a second mistake, but if you forget to add pepper to the food it is your first mistake ever.

Now you see, as long as you do not repeat a mistake, then the mistake will always be your first mistake ever.

The above is from the wisdom of the Don, you are welcome!

Topic alteration: as I sit here observing the camera monitors, I am seeing the birds use the back of my ole wooden rocking chair that sits near the garage door on the driveway as a jumping off point. I have seen red birds, bluejays, and non-colored birds land on the back of the chair, then jump down to the drive way. Maybe they use that to verify that there are no cats waiting on them when they go down to the driveway.

Another subject: We have six tenths of an inch of water in the Ford’s ole free rain gage this morning. Now that I am thinking about rain and weather, we had some storms come through last night and there was a bunch of lightning and thunder. Tres does not like thunder so he was going back and forth through the house. Finally, my favorite wife made him come into the bed room and he got on the bed with me. Maybe I should say, he got on the bed and on top of me. I did get him off to the side of me and I rubbed him and talked to him until the thunder had passed.

Friday events: not much, I might drive to the cleaners as I have a few items that need to go, I will get Dave from work and the kids from school. I will sit around bored most of the day. Now on Saturday the boy scouts are supposed to have a car wash, and if they do, we will take the Fords ole van and get it washed. Dave and Alex are supposed to come over after the car wash Saturday and help get the last 4 big flower pots out of the hot house.

Well, as you can see, nothing to talk about, so I will end this and say, we hope you have a good day, be happy and be safe.

First mistake ever!

March 21, 2024

We have some rain falling at this time so I will say, good morning to all. They have predicted on and off rain for today, and this afternoon late into the early night there may be some storms.

This morning: as I was sitting here in front of the Fords ole computer, I noticed something moving in the front yard. My first thought was squirrels but they turned out to be rabbits. There were three of them and they seemed to be having fun, until my present wife opened the front door, then they all went around the north end of the house. I like the rabbits not the squirrels.

Big deal: on the local so-called news programs they continually talk about the coming total solar eclipse. This event is said to be happening on April 8th. Well, they got it wrong, April 8th is not the date I had requested. Why is it that I am the only one that gets things right? Now that they know they have the wrong date for the solar eclipse they are not doing anything to change it. These people in politics who get requests for events, and then get them wrong, are never punished for their errors. I would fire the bunch of them!

Different topic: well, the Don did not do much yesterday, he did pull some sprouting red oak trees from the front yard. I thought as I was doing the back breaking work, that I should go to the shed and get the stool / kneeling device and bring it to the work site (work site is the front yard). This stool / kneeling device would allow me to sit down while I pulled the little sprouting trees. This bending over for an ole senior person is not any fun. I guess I was too lazy to walk all the way out there and get the stool, so I just continued pulling for a few minutes. I use a pair of pliers that are about 14 inches long, to pull the trees, the length of the plier reduces the amount of bending a little.

I received a call from Dave while I was pulling the trees, saying he was off work, and he was off on time for a change. I stopped the tree pulling and headed for DIB. I retrieved Dave and got him home safely. Later I also picked Alex up from school and got him home safely.

It was not a sunny day but my favorite wife and I did sit outside for a while yesterday. I guess that is all I did yesterday, we hope you have a good day and, “What”, why do you feel it is necessary to interrupt me with your silly questions!                     OK, what is it?

Ok, you want to know why the solar eclipse date is wrong, I will enlighten you. The date for the solar eclipse was supposed to be on April 5th, and they set it up for April 8th. Now do you understand, they are three days off.

What? You want to know why does three days make a difference.

Ok, please listen and try to understand. April 5th is my favorite wife and my wedding anniversary. We got married on April 5th, 55 years ago. The solar eclipse was supposed to happen on our 55th wedding anniversary. Now do you understand their mistake?

That’s it, do not ask any more questions, I am stopping for now. We hope you have a good day, stay safe, and try not to make any mistakes.

March 20, 2024

Good morning to everyone, yep, today we are wishing everyone a good morning, and yes that still means you are my favorite. Today is said to be the first day of spring, so that means, “Spring has Sprung, and Summer is almost here”. You think we have complained about winter weather, just listen when we complain about the summer heat.

Irritating topic: I am not sure if I have commented on the vehicle that has been parked near the corner and in front of the neighbor’s house, but if I have, then I am doing it again. This POJ (piece of junk) gets parked there at night and stays all night and part of the day.

Yesterday the POJ was there until about 2:00pm, when a tall male person came from Arkansas street, got into the vehicle and drove off.

Yesterday I learned from a neighbor that he had called the police about the vehicle and after they checked they said it was parked legally, and they could not give the owners name.

Last night this POJ arrived at about 10:45pm, the tall male person sat in the vehicle for a couple minutes, got out and ran down Arkansas street.

We assume this person parks on our street and goes to someone’s house on the next street over in an attempt to keep anyone from knowing, he is at this other person’s house. We don’t like it but there isn’t much we can do. He parks near the corner, is there an ordinance as to how close to the corner one can park?

Different subject: what did the Don do yesterday? As usual, the Don worked too much and even though he needed a break, he did not get one. At some point in the day, the Don decided to wash the pollen and dirt off the Ford’s ole Chevy. Now the vehicle had not been washed for a long time, but since the Don had cleaned the inside of the vehicle, he thought it might be good to also clean the outside. Well, the vehicle did get washed, and it does look better but if the Don had waited one more day, he would have known that the boy scouts will be washing vehicles this Saturday. I did all that work making my ole body tired and if I had waited the scouts could have done it for me. We will take my favorite wife’s van and get it washed by the scouts on Saturday.

My favorite wife and I went to get Dave from work and also get the kids from school. I had an optical migraine and did not want to take a chance of having one while I was driving. Now I can still see when I have one of these migraines, but there is always a zigzag mark in part of the eye which would be distracting if driving. These only last for about 20 minutes and there is no pain with them.

I have made plans to get our yard man Alex to come over on Sunday and mow. I still need to get the big flowerpots out of the hot house. I don’t have anything else to present, wait a minute, allow me to add a photo.

The photo shows the pollen and debris on the driveway, that is falling from the red oak trees. What? Yes, the shadow of the chair is kind of neat.

We hope your day is starting out just fine, that you are safe and productive in all you do, and as always, try to be nice to at least one person.

March 19, 2024

Well, we are at the start of another day, at least I think we are. Tres and I went out to the front yard at 6:30 this morning for his early morning review of the yard, and it was extra dark. The streetlight did not help much. It was kind of creepy being that dark. Tres was able to accomplish his mission, and we then returned back into the house.

The temp according to the weather people is 36 or 38 degrees depending on who you are listening to. My temperature gages are showing 39 outside and 41 in the hot house, the garage is at 50 degrees. Yes, I have a set of gages and I see the results here at my desk.

It is now 7:00 and I looked at the security monitors, it is still dark outside, although I can see on one monitor that the sky is starting to show some light, maybe morning is coming.

Our friend who had the knee surgery a couple weeks ago, and she fell yesterday and was taken to the hospital. We have been told that she now needs to have her foot removed. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

To say I did not do much yesterday is a good statement. I was sitting around doing nothing, basically I was in the Fords ole recliner and I was acting as if I was watching TV, but I was in reality dozing off to sleep. Finally, I decided to get up and do something, so I made a cup of homemade coffee and went to my desk to do my daily reading from the bible.

When I had finished reading, I decided to attempt to clean the inside of the Ford’s ole Chevy. There was a bunch of vacuuming and sweeping to get the debris out and some wiping to get dust off. It does look better, and it would be better if I would have washed the outside. It will likely be too cool for me to attempt to wash the outside of the vehicle today.

We did have bible study last night and it was interesting, and that means I will need to start reading and doing homework today. I like reading the bible, but I do not really like homework. We are all looking forward to next year's bible study, it will be about Revelations.

I did sit outside for a few minutes yesterday afternoon and I usually observe the birds going in and out of the bird house. Yesterday the bird was just sitting at the front door not going anywhere, so I thought I would get a photo. Then a squirrel may have learned that I was going to take a photo, so he finds a place above the bird house to pose for the photo.

Well, I guess that is it for now, I have no plans for the day other than getting the kids from school and possibly spraying some of the Jasmine beds if the wind isn’t blowing. We hope you have a good day; please stay safe in everything you do.

March 18, 2024

Good Monday morning to you, but not to others on the mail list. You are my favorite and the others, well they just do not compare to you. We hope your day is starting perfectly. The sun is shining this morning, so the rain has stopped for now. How much rain did we get, well the Ford's free rain gage has 3/4 inch in it.

Plans for today, not many. I might clean the inside of the Ford's ole Chevy, even though that is something I do not like to do. MY favorite wife wants me to spray something on the Jasmin plants, so I might do that. I hope to get the kids home safely from school this afternoon. And then there is bible study tonight.

Yesterday's bad news: We received a call from a neighbor saying his wife who had knee surgery a couple weeks ago was going to the hospital. As we understand it, she was doing the exercises for the recovery from the knee surgery, and when she had finished, she fell. They had called the ambulance to come and take her to the hospital for a checkup. Her husband wanted us to tell the neighbors before the ambulance arrived, so they would not panic.

I did not have one neighbors phone number, so I walked to their house and explained what was happening. It started to rain when I was walking to their home. Then I called two other neighbors and let them know what was happening. We learned later that she also had a fractured ancle. She will be in the hospital for 3 days. We pray that all will be well, and she will not need any additional surgery.

After notifying the neighbors, I sat on the front porch for a while watching for the fire truck and the ambulance to leave. I use to be a volunteer fireman and we made many runs on sick calls, heart attacks and other medical problems. It wasn't fun but we did provide a necessary service.

What else did I do yesterday, not a lot. I did cut some boards and make a smaller flowerpot roller. I have a photo of the before and after flowerpot roller.

The roller on the right is full size, it is the size and shape, as purchased new. The one under the flowerpot has been modified. I removed the carpet first, then removed the wheels, then decided how small to make the roller, then cut the boards, and then put the shorter version back together. I placed the flowerpot on the smaller version, and it move very easily. I have not decided if I need to modify the other roller.

Good food yesterday: my favorite wife made a roast yesterday with potatoes and carrots and some good brown gravy. I had a great noon meal and another great supper meal. 😊

Well, I guess that is about all for now, we hope you have a good day filled with kindness and as always be safe.

March 17, 2024

Another good morning from us here at the Ford Homestead. We hope your Sunday is off to a good start, even though the sun isn’t up yet, and it is still sprinkling rain, as I attempt to create this informative document. We have a little over ½ inch of water in the rain gage this morning.

Let’s see what happened yesterday: as usual on Saturday, we went into Waco for a lunch sandwich. Now we do usually get a sandwich for lunch on Saturday, and we often go to the same place, but occasionally we try the more expensive place. Yesterday we went to the usual place. The sandwich was good, and we always like to visit with the lady who takes the orders.

After lunch we went to the cheap store looking for an item, but we did not find what I was looking for, my favorite wife did find an item to purchase. Leaving the store, we headed for home and did nothing for a while. While I say nothing, we had the TV on, and we were both dozing off to sleep. After about an hour or so I decided I should get up and do something.

Since it still had not rained at that time, I decided to go out back and get the limbs that were in the yard, cut them up and put them on the trailer. I accomplished that task and put the tools away. Before returning to the house, I decided to check the berry beds to see if we had any berry buds, photo to follow. Different color bloom, different berry bush.

After reviewing the berry beds and getting a couple photos, I decided to get a cup of homemade coffee and a cookie then go out on the front porch and rest my ole bones. Coffee, cookie, and Tres in hand, I headed out to the porch. I sat down got comfortable in the chair took a sip of coffee and then it happened. No, the tree limb did not fall out of the neighbor’s tree, why do you always try to get ahead of what I am attempting to present. Please, just let me tell the story and you enjoy it.

Now where was I? I sat down, got comfortable in the chair, took a sip of coffee, and then it happened. It began to sprinkle rain. Now think about it, I took a nap, I picked up limbs, I checked the berry beds, I got the coffee, and when I was in the chair at rest, only then, would the rain start. You might say I am lucky; I say I am Blessed.

My favorite wife came out to sit with us, and she had her cup of coffee in hand. We sat there for a short while enjoying the afternoon. The rain had stopped but we were hearing thunder off in the distance. Then there was a very loud thunder that seemed to go from the north to the south. Tres was looking at the door as he does not like lightning and thunder. A short while later there was a flash of lightning and it was close, so we headed into the house. I told my first wife that the cat was probably wanting to come into the house, as she doesn’t like thunder. Molly was at the door to the office, and she came in. I put her on my desk, and she seemed to be satisfied.

Dog under the desk and a cat on the desk, could it be any better. Well, there was a ole time movie on TV, and I was actually watching it. I sat there actually interested in the movie, which is often unusual for me. My favorite wife was preparing some food for my evening repast. I was able to enjoy the meal at the ole desk as I continued watching the movie.

Movie complete and food eaten, I was allowed to wash the dishes. With all the evening chores complete I headed off to the bedroom to see if I could get my ole body into the bed. You guessed it, there was another ole time movie that caught my attention, so I watched it. I do not usually stay awake to long after entering the bed even if the TV is on, but last night was different.

At some point before sleep caught up with me, I realized that I had been so interested in the movie at happy hour, I forgot to have an adult beverage. Wow, I am a forgetful ole person.

Well now you know how our Saturday went. I guess I will stop for now, we hope you have a pleasant Sunday, be safe and think nice thoughts all day long.

March 16, 2024

Good morning to you, good morning to me, good morning to all, good morning to? Well with all the rain we had, I still did not get to use the windshield wipers, cause, it did not rain! When the Tres and I went out this morning we could feel a lite mist but we could not see anything on the sidewalk.

The wind was blowing yesterday, I thought the neighbors broken tree limbs would be blown out of her tree, but that hasn't happened, yet. Now I have a photo of some tree limbs that are downed in our back 40. These limbs did not appear to be dead but they are on the ground now.

Yes, that is our pot hound Tres scratching himself near the tree. The wind was, and is still strong, and these limbs were brought down by a saw, and an ole person named The Don, was the sawyer. They were not blown down, I cut them.

Now I might have another photo that at least one person might find interesting. This photo is of a new pecan tree that is now in its second year. This tree was planted we believe by a squirrel, and is in a flower bed. We have decided to allow it to grow there.

You may need to look closely to see the small growth, as it does have some leaves budding out on top. This may be the only time that we appreciate a squirrel.

As I was wondering around the back 40, actually I was watering the plants, I observed a rose bush that has a couple new blooms starting. The rose has a couple colors in its bloom.

The wind was blowing too hard for me to activate the lawn sprinklers, so I used the hose and watered the potted plants and some of the Jasmin beds.

I had planned to ask Dave to help me get the heavy flower pots out of the hot house yesterday. When I picked him up from work, we began talking about the coming safety inspection that should occur next week, and the fact that all he did yesterday was clean and straighten up product. I did not think about him helping me with the flower pots until we were at his driveway, and it was too late.

I did water all the plants that are still in the hot house, I have removed 11 plants from the hot house and the last 4 are big plants. I will get help this coming week to get them out.

I did venture to the Harbor store this week to get a couple things and I supposedly save $10 on the two items. I wanted to get a cup of real coffee but the line around the local shop was too long, so I did with out.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside for a while yesterday but the wind was blowing and it was kind of cool. When a friend arrived, we all went inside where it was a little more comfortable. After a short while another neighbor came over and had her granddaughter with her. The granddaughter's name is Paisley and she is fun to be around. She has continual questions and comments.

If it doesn't rain soon, I will activate the lawn sprinklers. I have no real plans for the day, we will likely go out for a lunch sandwich in Waco, stop by the cheap store, then return home and do my bible study homework. After that, do nothing but rest and relax.

Well, I guess that may be all for now, as always, have a good day, be safe in all you do, and show some kindness to ole people.

Our POT, is not the kind you have.
