            This is the last!

Yes, it is Sunday, and the sun is shining this morning. Yesterday was a nice day, if you like a very windy day. My favorite wife and I went over to the other Ford’s Homestead here in Hewitt, and got Alex to join us for a quick lunch. We went to a sandwich shop where Alex said he had not eaten. We all had a sandwich, fries and a drink and Alex said he like their food.

We then returned to the first Ford Homestead, where we allowed Alex to do some trimming of the weeds and mowing of the yards. Alex is getting much better at the yard work, and it reduces my amount of labor. When Alex had finished the yard work, another neighbor, seeing how nice our yard looked, decided to mow his yard. The neighbor’s yard looks better, but not as good as Alex’s work!

After Alex completed his work and headed for home, I was allowed to take a nap.

Nap completed, I decided to read from the bible, which I do every day. I had worked on the bible study homework earlier in the day. Monday is the last official meeting of our bible study group, as the spring break is upon us, and they are having Pizza prior to the meeting. Maybe they have the food on the last meeting in order to entice us to come back after spring break.

Well, let’s see what else happened yesterday. My favorite wife and I along with a friend sat out side for a while enjoying the nice weather. We also had another friend drop by and she participated in our discussions. Note; there was not a cloud in the blue sky!

Tres did pose for a photo. In truth, he was watching a friend eat.

I did not get to watch any of the three stooges yesterday, I sat outside too long.

Well, I guess that is it for now, we hope your day is good, and that you are a blessing to all, and please stay safe.

This is the last day in April!

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow!

April 29, 2023

Is it time? Wow, how many topics could be discussed starting with the question, “is it time”? My answer would be, it is always time, for something.

As an example, yesterday afternoon it was time for the school system to make a decision to let the kids out 1.5 hours early. Now I assume, it may have been due to the predicted bad weather. They were saying that heavy rain, hail and a possible tornado could take place starting around 4:00pm, that is the normal time for Alex to get out of school.

Well, that would not have been a problem if they weren’t having a track meet. The entire parking lot was filled, and there was no place for those of us to park or wait in line for the kids. If they were letting school out early, why didn’t they stop the track meet? That parking lot can park probably 400 vehicles, and every space was taken.

Where did I park, I parked in front of a drive, you know, where real people are not supposed to park, but us ole people don’t know the difference. Alex found where I was parked, and we attempted to leave the area. To get off the parking lot and get to Hewitt drive, it was bumper to bumper traffic, which took about 15 minutes. I did get the Alex home safely.

Arriving at home the storms were building all around, so I took the Ford’s ole Chevy over to the neighbors parking shelter, just in case the predicted hail came to our area. Another neighbor also parked his pickup under the shelter.

We were blessed and the bad weather missed us again. About 7:00pm I decided to get the Ford’s ole Chevy and bring it back to the homestead (aka across the street). When I was walking over to get the truck, I could hear the PA system from over at the school, the track meet was still going on. I guess weather don’t affect sports!

Topic change: Is it time, yep, it is time! I have a photo which may not be worth a thousand words, but it could be worth a few words. This photo was taken by yours truly (aka me). I was reviewing the berries the other day and the #3 bed has the first berry to start turning.

That is a sign that I will need to begin checking the beds daily. Ouch, ouch, that hurts!

Today is Saturday, I may attempt to get the Alex to come over and mow the front yard. we did not get much rain yesterday, so mowing would be ok. The back 40 needs to be mowed but I am not yet sure it will be dry enough to mow back there.

Topic swap: I need a cover for my ole cell phone, and I do mean old cell phone. My favorite wife suggested I go to the $1.25 store, (the price has gone up), saying she had gotten one there in the past. They did not have the one I need. We went to the Wally world, and they did not have the one I needed. I went to the Wally world online, and they had one. It is a piece of clear rubber that protects the phone when ole people drop them, and it cost, including tax title and license a little over $10.00. heck I doubt that the ole phone is worth $10.00.

I have nothing else planned for the day, well maybe a nap, we hope you have some plans for the day and stay safe when executing your plans.

Plan not, do not!

April 28, 2023

Good morning to my favorite reader, and to you also.

Have you ever thought, “who is the Don’s favorite reader”? Well, I know who it is and I would be happy to enlighten you, if, I thought you wanted to know.

This posting will be short, it did not rain yesterday, I did get the Alex home from school safely, my favorite wife and I did go to the Cracker store for supper, I did go and buy a bicycle tire pump, my first wife and I did sit outside after supper, neighbors came over and sat out with us, it was a good day.

Today my plan includes the possibility of going in to Waco, looking on line for a rubber case for the ole smart phone, if they still make them.

They are predicting storms this afternoon about the time I pick up the kids from school, lets hope it holds off until all the kids get home safely. They are talking about rain and hail with a possibility of tornadoes, we hope they are wrong on all accounts.

Allow me to add some color to this posting with a photo.

For that one person, and we all know who you are, that is not the chair that my wife makes me sit on when I am a bad boy, ok, not a bad boy but a bad grandpa.

Well, I will stop for now, may your day be storm free, and always be safe.

My favorite reader?            Me!

April 27, 2023

Well, let us see what has happened. Yesterday it rained off and on, the first half of the day, you know, one of those Missouri style rains. Then it stopped raining long enough for me to get Dave from work and Alex from school. My favorite wife and I did review the effects of the rain and then did sit outside for a while, photo to follow.

As you can see, the CEO is reviewing the front area of the Homestead.

Now yesternight was a different subject. We had storms predicted with possible hail and even tornadoes. The CEO and I watched the Weather which was taking the place of the normal TV shows, and since they were continually talking about large hail, I took the Ford’s ole Chevy to the neighbor’s homestead, and parked it under the car port. Yes, I had permission!

We did not get the hail, but some locations got hail as big as softballs. Lots of vehicles were damaged and windows broken out. We do have water standing in the back 40, and we received 1 inch of rain total in the free rain gage yesterday and yesternight. Today, Thursday is predicted to be a nice sunny day and Friday we have storms again.

Allow me to swap topics; I would like to address a money question if you have the time to sit there and read what I write. I was thinking about money yesterday, and being retired and on a fixed income, we don’t have a lot of money to look at. I do have a jar that I have some pennies saved in, heck there might be as many as 80 or more pennies saved for emergencies.

Now I have not been thinking about our savings jar, but I was thinking about half dollars. When was the last time you saw a half dollar, have you used one to pay for something recently, or have you received one as change when purchasing something? I haven’t seen a half dollar in quite a while.

I am wondering if I was to cut a dollar bill in half and then go to the store to buy something, would they accept the half dollar as payment, or does a half dollar have to be a coin. I have the feeling they would not accept the paper half dollar but why not, it is actually half of a dollar.

Now I have a suggestion, they can make the paper dollar with a line down the middle and either half would show 50 cents. Both halves’ together (50 + 50 = 100) would equal a dollar. If you want to you can cut the dollar bill in half and have two half dollars. Also, it would be cheaper to make paper half dollars than coin half dollars.

Why don’t they come to me for answers? As you can see, I could save them money.

Well, I guess I should stop providing ideas for the world, and go get a cup of homemade coffee. Today is Thursday and we often go out on Thursday for supper, that is if I can get the weekly stipend from the teller machine. We hope you have a good day filled with everything you like, and please be safe.

Paper half dollar!

April 26, 2023

Allow me to start off by saying thanks to everyone who responded to yesterday’s post about the president’s proposal for saving water. Would you believe, all but one of this reading group responded in a positive manner to yesterday’s post. Yes, we know that one person was too busy to take time to read the Don’s article, and we know, you will likely not read todays article which is a follow up to yesterday’s article. Boy, there are a lot of articles in that sentence.

Well, all you wonder filled readers except for that one person, and we know who you are, were in favor of the president’s proposal for saving water. I feel sure you will also be in favor of the second part of the president and his green horn groups proposal for even more saving of water. This part is very simple, and some of you may actually enjoy this new proposal.

Simply stated, all bath tubs will be removed, or deactivated. In short no more baths!

In addition, there will be a robotic device installed on all shower heads that will limit the amount of water that may flow through the device to 2 minutes in a 24 hour period. When the shower is turned on, if it runs for 30 seconds and shut off, it will still have 1 minute and 30 seconds of run time. So, you can get wet in 30 seconds, and then turn the water off, soap up, and then turn the water back on and rinse off.

The president and the green horn group have suggested that two people should take their shower at the same time. This way one person will not get less time in the shower than the other, and maybe our backs and back sides will be properly washed.

As with yesterday comment, these rules will not apply to the president, his green horn group, his doners, or to any politician on the left.

Your president and his green horn group have some very good ideas, consider all this when you vote in the next election.

Topic change; we did very little yesterday. My favorite wife did get a couple new flowers which she planted in pots in the front yard. A neighbor and good friend and I got together and cut up a limb in a neighbor’s yard yesterday. We both knew that the person who lived there could not cut the limb up so we offered our service. The two of us were able to get the big limb made small enough that the pieces can be placed in trash containers. It may take a few weeks to get rid of all the now small pieces, and yes there is a pile in the yard near the street.

I did get the Alex from school yesterday and get him home safely. My present wife and I did sit outside for a while yesterday afternoon.

It is raining again, but as for now it is light rain. We may have some storms this afternoon and evening. Well, I guess that is it for now, we hope you have a good day, stay safe and be nice!

April 25, 2023

Good day to everyone except that one person, and we all know who you are, we hope today will be filled with fun activities, or at least a good ole nap!

What did I do yesterday, very little as everything outside is still wet. I did get Alex Home from school safely, and that transportation being completed, I did sit outside for a few minutes before going to Bible study. I do have a photo of some clouds which I like.

I still wonder why clouds come in all types of shapes and sizes, why don’t they just stick together like a fog?

Topic swap: would you believe, the president has come up with another way to save water. Now his way of saving water does not apply to him, or any of his rich political friends, and it does not apply to people who live in big cities like New York. Yep, it only applies to those people who live in communities where they have yards.

The truth is, this plan would save water, but I don’t think most people will be willing to go along with it. Before any of you who have yards ask, one part of the new plan to save water would not be to stop watering your yards. It seems as if the grass in the yards is a good thing.

I know some of the younger people, and those of you who have been wealthy all your life, will not even understand how this proposed system will work, but I will attempt to explain. Basically, your president and his green horn team has decided, “To ban all indoor toilets” for people who live in communities where they have yards.

Are you starting to get the idea, that means these people, “us”, will have out houses. The president and his green horn team are allowing us to have one of those porta potties, that a company would bring out to your house for a fee, and they would come back monthly to remove the Poopa-Loopa.

The second option is an outhouse that you build yourself. Outhouses are kind of portable in that you dig a hole then you slide the outhouse over the hole. Then the family can relieve themselves, depositing the Poopa-Loopa into the hole. After a month or two the hole will be full and you then dig another hole and slide the outhouse onto the new hole.

The third option is to have your outhouse raised about 2 or 3 feet above the ground, this is known as, “the raised platform”. With this option you do not dig a hole for the Poopa-Loopa, but after making your deposit, you will rake up the Poopa-Loopa and put it into the trash container. This raised platform works well unless one has diarrhea, that is more difficult to rake up.

I do not have a photo of a real out house, but I have a replica which is used as a bird feeder.

In the olden days the outhouse often had a couple seats so more than one person could go at a time. The president’s plan for saving water will work, but it might smell of politics!

Well, I hope we all think before we vote, and I hope you are not forced to use the outhouse, and please stay safe.

Out houses save water!

April 24, 2023

Ask and you shall receive. Now I know I have heard that in the past, and I believe I have read it somewhere. I could ask my mom or dad for something, and if it did not cost anything, I had a chance of getting what I had asked for.

I assume that one person is now thinking, “The Don has lost his mind, making the above comment”. Nope, The Don has not lost, he has gotten what he asked for, and it did not cost him or his favorite wife anything. The Don has commented several times in the past, “we need to have some of those ole Missouri type rains here in Texas”. Well, I think that is what we were having yesterday, a Missouri type rain. It started around 3:00 that morning and all morning it had been lite rain, off and on. The back 40 has some nice water standing in it, and the front yard does also. Let us hope this Missouri type rain continues all day, and then a little later in the week we would like another. Oh, I just asked for it again, and we will get it.

As I sat here on the Ford’s ole chair, at the Ford’s ole desk, looking at the Ford’s ole security cameras screens, enjoying the Missouri type rain, I saw a cat on the Ford’s ole front porch. I naturally assumed this cat was attempting to get out of the rain. I have no idea whose cat it is, but we occasionally see him or her around the neighborhood. Some cat, probably this same cat, sleeps on one of the chairs on the front porch. We know this due to the hair the cat leaves in the chair.

The rain let up at some point in the day, but it was drizzling a little about 5:30 yesterday afternoon. According to the, “donated rain gage”, we received a half inch of rain yesterday.

Photo time: I have two photos of flowers that the Missouri rain has helped.

The little yellow fellow seems to be hiding behind a cement angel.

I do know where the comment, “Ask and you shall receivecomes from. I am silly grandpa, not crazy grandpa, at least not yet.

We hope you have a good day even though you have read this posting. Please stay safe and enjoy the cool weather. We might get more rain Tuesday and Wednesday.

More to come!       Rain that is.

April 23, 2023

Ok, it rained again last night and it is raining right now (7:00am). I did go outside and check the rain gage this morning; it has 2 inches of water in it. You should understand that I had not emptied the water from the free rain gage, from the previous 1.75 inches of rain. Now I will do the math, as I understand that you are mathematically challenged. So, we have 2 inches, we had 1.75 inch, that means we have received ¼ inch of rain over night. It is raining right now, nice. We need a bunch of rain to fall in areas where it can drain into lake Waco. Lake Waco is very low.

Keith, Karla’s brother, came by yesterday to drop off a flower that Pat and Karla were supposed to take to someone near Austin. He also gave my first wife some fertilizer and instructions as to how and when to use it on a couple of her flowers.

Swap topics: The rain has caused a bird to find a dry place to wait until the rain stops, he /she is next to a security camera. Yep, I can see him / her.

Another subject; Patrick and Karla were here yesterday; Karla’s mother is in the hospital so they came up to see and help her. We did get a chance to go out for an early supper along with Claire, Gabi, and Alex. Food was good, and service was also good. My favorite wife asked Gabi why she didn’t bring her boyfriend. Gabi said she did not think about it. Wow, I saved a few dollars.

After supper, everyone headed for their homes, and my present wife decided to sit outside for a while. We both noted that it was very quiet in the neighborhood. Heck, there wasn’t even a breeze, it was super quiet, we enjoyed the time together.

Our cat Molly jumped up here on the desk so I had to stop entering data. There isn’t enough room on the desk for a cat and a key board. She wanted to be petted and then she just got comfortable and kept me from my work. She only took about 10 minutes and then she jumped down.

I guess that is it for now, we hope you have the right amount of rain for your area, and we want you to stay safe.

Take it easy day!

Rain, rain, don’t go away, please stay here all day, big ole Donnie don’t need to play.

April 22, 2023

Well, we got through yesterday ok, friends came over yesterday afternoon to sit and talk a while, they even brought a Pizza to snack on, NICE! As usual, we had lively conversations about all things.

Prior to their arrival, I had reviewed videos from our cameras, as a neighbor had asked if I could find something that occurred recently. I reviewed some videos of the street but did not turn up anything. I did see a lot of squirrels, birds and a black cat several times. We have a very quiet neighborhood.

With all the rain we had, the flowers, grass and weeds seem to be doing good, I have a couple photos to follow.

The photos aren’t that good, but the rain has caused things to start up.

We learned that Patrick and Karla will be up later today, it is always good to have family around.

At this point in time, I do not have any real plans for the day, but I will try to be nice to at least one person today. we hope your day is filled with good things and please stay safe.

Nice guy the Don

April 21, 2023

Well, I think we made it through the stormy weather last night. One neighbor has a tree limb down in her yard, Me and another neighbor who do not have car ports for our trucks, took them to the neighbor across the street and parked them in the shelter at his house. There is enough room to park both trucks side by side and that protects them from the possibility of hail. We have good neighbors!

I checked the rain gage and it has 1.75 inches of rain in it. Now I do believe the gage could have had more rain in it if the wind had not been blowing so hard. During the storm the rain was being blown sideways, so if it would have been falling down, and not sideways, we might have had more in the gage.

The back 40 was standing in water last night, due to the rain, and water that come off the roof. This morning the ground has soaked the water up, no more standing water in the back 40.

Yesterday: I went out to the DIB center as one of the ladies who I use to work with was leaving, yesterday was her last day. They had cake, but the best part was seeing some ole friends, people I use to work with. It is always good to visit with friends, but in truth, there were more people there that I did not know, than I did know.

I heard from several people that they seem to have trouble finding new employees. I guess things have changed over the years, in the olden days we did not have trouble finding employees, they found us!

Today is Friday, and I do not plan to do much of anything. I will get the kids from school and maybe Dave from work. I said maybe, as Dave has worked OT every day this week, and I have not picked him up from work one time, his wife Claire gets him after she gets off work.

Well, I guess that is it for now, I had gone to the coffee place and to the burrito place before I started putting this article together, so I am not hungry and I do not need a cup! We hope your day is safe and fun, and may at least one person be nice to you!

It has rained!

April 20, 2023

Where do I start? Should I start with the police cars arriving, the fact that I mowed the front lawn yesterday, or that there was a small opossum in a flower bed? What a question, well, let us take them in order.

First, I did mow the front yard yesterday, even though I did not trim the front yard. I wanted to get it done before the possibility of rain and storms arriving today. The front yard looks good, even though I mowed it, Alex was in school. I think I have a photo to show you, the photo is basically of the front yard, and it looks toward the house where the police later arrived.

Mowed or manicured, you can decide.

Second, after I had completed the above work, and had put the tools away, I proceeded to get in the Ford’s ole recliner in hopes of a nice, and may I say, well-deserved rest. I had been in the recliner for a short time when I noticed two police vehicles drive in front of our house very slowly. I got up from the ole recliner and went to the front door, where I observed the two police vehicles stop in front of the next-door neighbor’s house.

The officers dismounted their vehicles, one officer went to the front door and the other was looking at the vehicle in the driveway. The second officer who was looking at the vehicle, then turned and went to the front door too.

Then a fire truck arrived at the scene, where two firemen dismounted the vehicle and walked to the house. I, being very observant, notice that the firemen did not take any first aid equipment with them.

It was a couple minutes before the ambulance arrived at the scene, where two first responders dismounted the ambulance and entered the house, also without any first aid items.

As all this was taking place, I noticed another police vehicle parked just around the corner. This vehicle was completely black, with no identification on it, and the windows were very dark so one could not see who was inside the vehicle.

Then a second fire truck, this one was a ladder truck, came down the street but it stopped at the corner and after a few seconds it left.

Why the police, firemen and first responders were there, we do not know.

Third, my favorite wife and Tres discovered an Opossum (aka Possum) in the flower bed yesternight. Tres had taken my first wife outside so he could water the flowers (aka urinate) when he pointed out that there was a baby possum in the flower bed, where our cat Molly often lays. I told my present spouse. “Where there is a baby possum there will probably be more possums.”

Topic change; photo of the coming berry rush.

It will not be long before we have red and black berries!

Well, that is the news from the Ford homestead, we hope you have a good day, and please say something nice to someone today, we herd that you failed to say something nice yesterday! As always, be safe.

Interesting day?

April 19, 2023

Well, the allergies are still with me, not too bad, but not gone.

My favorite wife and I did transplant two flowers yesterday, she did one, and I helped with the other. We did reposition four plants during the process. I did not mow the front yard yesterday due to the fact that the sprinkler system ran early that morning and the grass still had some drops of water at 1:00pm. Later in the day I was sneezing, so not mowing. I might mow today, we are supposed to have rain and storms tomorrow, so today might be my best bet. Yes, I will have a mask on to reduce the amount of pollen I would receive.

Speaking of pollen, my grandson Alex noticed that the Ford’s ole Chevy has both pollen and bird droppings on it, I guess he was saying, it needs to be washed.

I was allowed to water the flowers that are in pots and other recently planted flowers yesterday. During the process I got a photo of a big rose, “everything is bigger in Texas”.

That rose is in a flower bed in the back 40.

Then I have another photo, which I believe was taken while sitting outside in the afternoon with my present spouse, this rose has many white blooms on it.

The white rose is located behind the swing that we sit on, so we only get to enjoy them when we are out of the swing. I guess I could change the swing and have it face the rose bush, but then we could not see the street, and if friends came over to sit with us, we could not see them either.

Well, I am not going to create a story about cement animals today, but I will say, each bird house on the Ford Homestead property, which we can get close to, has the sounds of babies in them. We see the parent birds working hard to provide for the new born.

We hope all is well with you and your family today, be nice to ole people and stay safe.

April 18, 2023

Well, I hope it is a good morning for you, I still have allergies to some extent. Itchy eyes and some sneezing with nose blowing. Wow, I just runed someone’s breakfast, sorry!

Allow me to comment on yesterday’s posting, before that one person asks. The ghost bag comments were true, the cement rabbit did not hop out of the flower bed, cement rabbits can’t move, that was a fictional story. I felt I should explain about the cement rabbit before someone from the TV new shows up, wanting to question me about the rabbit.

What did the Don do yesterday: in truth, almost nothing. It was more or less a day of rest for me. I got Alex from school, I have no idea what time Dave got off work, he never called me to come and get him. Heck, I didn’t go to the bible study class last night, I can watch the video of the lecture part of the meeting on the computer this morning.

I did drop by my previous employer yesterday to wish one of the ladies in the office good luck on her new job. She had been with the company for many years and is now changing jobs.

If the allergies will allow me, I might mow the front yard later this afternoon.

I did put a hanger on a flower basket for my favorite wife yesterday, I think I will be allowed to go to the store and get some more potting soil this morning, she has a couple more flowers to transplant.

We have a small chance of some rain today, we need it. We could use a few of those ole slow all day Missouri rains. You know the kind, it rains off and, on all day long, getting to a point that kids complain because they can’t go outside and play. Wait a minute, kids don’t go outside and play anymore, heck do kids even know what rain is?

Well, I guess that is all for today, we hope your day is filled with fun things to do, and as always, please be safe.

April 17, 2023

Ghost or not, that is the question. I was setting outside on the front porch enjoying a cup of homemade coffee and a cookie, yes, my favorite wife allows me to have a cookie at least once a week. I was noticing that the neighborhood was quiet, by quiet I mean I was the only person that was outside enjoying a sweet treat.

From the neighbor’s yard came what appeared to be an empty plastic bag. Now this empty plastic bag appeared to be filled with air, but it was not shut, it was wide open. Yes, the wind was blowing, but how did the plastic bag stay filled with air, and basically rolling and bouncing like a balloon, from the neighbor’s yard, into our yard.

I watched as it was rolling through the grass in our yard, but when it got to the walkway it made a right turn, went down the walkway about 10 feet, to the street. Once in the street, it turned again and started down the street.

For some reason I lost sight of the bag, later I learned that it stopped before it got to the other neighbor’s driveway, it must have deflated. I sat there, coffee in hand, with the cookie in my belly, wondering if the bag was controlled by a spirit (aka a ghost) or was it just a plastic bag that did unusual things?

Possibly 5 or 10 minutes went by and I again saw the ghost bag (as it is now known) going down the street. Interesting neighborhood!

Topic swap: I was again sitting on the front porch, when I observed a white rabbit sitting in the neighbor’s flower bed down the street. Now I assume that we all have seen these cement animals that people placed in flower beds. Well as I considered this white rabbit I thought, “why don’t people paint these cement animals, so they look like real animals in the flower bed”. Then I thought, if they painted the cement animals, they would be more difficult to see, as their natural color more or less helps hide wild animals.

I again looked at the white counterfeit, when it hopped out of the flower bed, and went around the end of their house. That is the first time I have ever seen a cement rabbit hop around. Odd things happen in the view of ole people.

Topic swap; Sunday I had been allowed to go out in the back 40, and front yard to water flowers, which my present spouse had planted. I also watered the berry beds. As I was watering the plants, I noticed that both neighbors’ yards on either side of us, had been mowed, and they looked better than our yard. I decided to get the gas-powered weed eater and trim all around the back 40.

Now I felt as if I had strained something in my lower left side close to my hip. I think I strained something on Friday when I was planting a rose bush, I did get down on my knees and then back up several times. Going and helping Dave haul the tree limbs away on Saturday did nothing to help the strain, and now it was Sunday and I was using the string trimmer while still hurting.

I got the entire back 40 trimmed, and that was not easy, then I went to the front yard and trimmed a small area. Trimming completed I then decided to mow the back 40 which meant removing items that were laying around, and then checking and adding air to the tires on the riding mower. The mowing seemed to go well, and when I was finished, I noticed I had missed a spot about 20 X 30 feet. I had already put the riding mower away, so I got the walk behind and mowed that spot.

Topic change: I have a photo that was taken of the moon in the dark, which I will attempt to post.

I wish it would have been clearer, I like the moon between the trees.

Last topic: my favorite wife and I sat outside yesterday afternoon for about an hour on the Ford’s ole swing. I was hurting when I sat down on the swing, so I prayed for relief of the pain. An hour later when I got up from the swing, the pain was gone. You don’t have to believe me, but I believe!

Well, I think that is it for today, we hope you have a good day filled with love and kindness, please stay safe.

April 16, 2023

Wow, I allowed you to have the day off yesterday and not one of you thanked me! Do you know how hurtful that is to a senior retired person? I would have just sit at home and cried all day, but instead, I found a couple things that would keep me occupied which reduced the feeling of, “being forgotten by you”, my favorite person in the reading public.

So, what did the Don do yesterday, well let’s see if I can recall any events of the day.

At 7:00am the Don decided to leave the Ford homestead and proceed to the gas station, and the gas cost $3.37 per gallon. After getting the gas I then proceed to the Star coffee place to get a cup of over priced coffee, the coffee was just verily warm, they can’t even sell me a cup of hot coffee. I then headed for David’s house as he was wanting to have some limbs and debris hauled off.

We connected the trailer, which was loaded and ready to go, to the Ford’s ole Chevy and hauled the load to the dump site. They unloaded the trailer for us and we headed back to Dave’s house, where we backed the trailer into the drive way. Dave and I then began to load the trailer a second time, this time with limbs. We were able to get the entire stack of limbs on the trailer and secure it down. Then we again headed back to the dump site where they unloaded the limbs and clean most of the debris off the trailer floor.

Unloaded and cleaned we were heading back to Dave’s house, where we again back the trailer into the drive way and we loaded a second pile of limbs onto the ole trailer. Yes, that is a lot of work for an ole senior person’s body. Again, we drove to the dump where they unloaded the trailer, this time using a backhoe. The backhoe operator was able to get all the limbs off the trailer in one try, which meant the other workers did not need to do anything. Yes, we again drove to Dave’s house, this time I let Dave out and I headed for home.

Arriving at home I was able to back the trailer into the drive way, where I put the seat cover on the back seat so Tres could get into the truck and not leave too many hairs. When I open the gate to the back 40 Tres runs to the pickup and jumps in the back seat, he likes to ride in the truck. I then backed the trailer into the back 40 and was able to park it in its usual parking space.

All that done and the ford’s ole Chevy back in the driveway, it was time for a wash job for the Don. After the cleanup the Don and his favorite wife hopped into the Ford’s ole van and drove over to where Alex and the boy scouts were having a car wash. It took a while but the van did get washed and dried.

Van washed, we went and purchased gas for the van. My first wife wanted to find a couple empty hanging flower pots, to put some of her flowers in. We stopped at two stores and there was none to be found. It was decided that we would try a hamburger place that we had not been to but we had received some good reviews.

We had our choice of sitting at the bar or sitting outside, we took outside. I should note that it was a lot quieter outside than inside. It took a couple minutes of us looking at the menu and getting our drinks. The young lady took our order and we sat there for 30 minutes waiting on the food. The food was good, not great, the service was too slow.

Leaving the slow food place, we stopped at a nursery where we looked for the hanging baskets. They had one that my present wife liked, but she did not like the price, so we headed for home. At home I finally get to take a nap.

When I awoke from my nap I found that my wife was out back replanting a couple flowers. I did carry one of the repotted flowers for her.

I then went back into the homestead where I reviewed the homework for the bible study class. In truth, this lesson is not getting all my attention, it is kind of like school home work which I never was good at.

At about 5:00pm I headed outside with a cold drink. A few minutes later my favorite wife came out and as we sat there resting a couple neighbors came walking down the street. Yep, we had friends to sit and talk with, and yes, we offered them drinks.

It was only a few minutes later when another neighbor arrived at the homestead. We had lively and varied conversations until about 7:00, and that is when the group began to break up. I did not get to see any of the three stooges tv shows.

That is what happened yesterday and why I allowed you to rest from my posts. We hope you have a good day, get some rest and please stay safe.
