August 21, 2026

As usual we are starting with a good morning here at the Fords homestead and we hope your morning is also starting off as a good morning.

What were the events for the Don yesterday? We all know he took Alex to school and that he rested for a while before starting his bible reading. After the bible reading was completed and lunch served, the Don decided to go out in the back forty (aka back yard) and remove the dead vines from the number 3 bed. Yes, it was hot (103) as the Don ventured forth to work in the heat, I should note he was working in the shade of the tree.

Now for some reason the Don went to a flower bed and started removing weeds and dead flowers from the bed. This took a while and the Don did take a break to get a glass of cold water to sustain his ole body in the heat.

When he finished the flower bed he then headed to the number 3 berry bed and proceeded to remove dead vines. I should note that there were more small trees and odd plants than there were dead vines, but there were plenty of dead vines too. I was able to clear maybe a fourth of the berry bed before heading into the house to cool down.

I was allowed to take a shower and get dressed so we could go to our early supper. We go early on Thursday to beat the crowds. Food was good and our server was even better.

Back at home we sat outside for a while before walking down to one of our neighbors and good friend’s house. We visited for a while and then we returned to the Ford homestead where a delivery driver from Amazon delivered a package to us that we had not ordered. We sat outside and we opened the surprise package. It was for our dog Tres, and it was natural dog chews, I call them chew sticks. Tres took one and found a place to lay in the grass and chewed away. Tres says thank you for the chew sticks.

Let us see what our plans for today may be. We have a check that came to us and it needs to be cashed; we could use part of that money for breakfast or lunch out. As usual we have no definite plans so we will just wait and see what happens.

I should stop and get started, we hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Let us pray for our friends and families.

August 20, 2026

Good morning, the sun is up, I've taken Alex to school and made it back home safely. I'm sitting here entering data into this computer. I really should be outside pulling some weeds while it's still halfway cool but I'm in here at the computer.

Today is Thursday and our big plan for the day would be, go out to supper this evening. The couple the lives at the end of the street go to supper with us occasionally and that provides us with some interesting conversations about the olden days when we had kids and we used to go fishing and hunting and things like that.

As You may be able to see we have a very interesting day planned, not.

I am going to stop for now we hope everyone has a blessed day that we all stay safe in all we do and that we are nice to at least one person.

August 19, 2026

Is the morning starting off good, I guess it depends on how you look at it. I got up earlier than I wanted to, due to the dog. The TVs are not working, and I have a cup of home-made coffee as I begin to attempt to enter data on this computer. Under normal conditions I would turn the TV off while entering data, so I guess it is a Good Morning, but I don’t like the TV being off unless “I” want it off.

I have drunk my cup of homemade coffee, so I guess I should concentrate on this data entry. I am attempting to see if I or we did anything yesterday. Nope, we did nothing that would be interesting to anyone.

I dropped Alex off at school and then I had an hour before my appointment at the blood taker, (aka doctor). I attempted to turn in across the traffic at the doctor’s office but was unable as the traffic was backed up from a traffic light. I drove down the road and found a place where I could turn around and head back to the doctor’s office. Arriving early, I waited in the car for a while. I did get into the doctor’s office, and they did remove blood from me, that wasn’t very interesting.

Leaving the doctor’s office I did go to the gas station and got gas. In the olden days there were both gas stations and service stations. They both sold gas, but the service station would also work on vehicles.

Gas in the vehicle, I went to the Star coffee place for a cup of coffee. Coffee in hand I drove to the bank, and they were not yet open. I waited for about 5 minutes and they open the doors. I went inside and they could not help me as the computer was messing up. I left the bank and went home.

At home I rested for a while and then I did my bible reading. A little before lunch I went back to the bank, and they were able to help me; the computer was working.

The rest of the day was a do-nothing day. We sat outside for a while. We like being outside as it gets us away from the TV and we communicate better with less distractions.  I did get to water the flowerpots and provide some water for the birds.

Today: I should go to the store and get a few items. Oh, the TV did come back on. I need to get ready to get Alex and take him to school, so I will stop for now. We hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

August 18, 2026

Good early morning to all, we hope all have a blessed day, and that we all stay safe in the extreme heat.

Yesterday was a normal day with no exciting activities. I did a couple small projects in the yard, and we did set outside with the big ole fan blowing on us as the heat was 103. We did allow ourselves to get a to-go supper from a local restaurant and it was good.

Today I need to take Alex to school on time and then drop by the doctors office and let them remove some blood from my ole body. They are not vampires, at least I don’t think they are, the blood is to be reviewed prior to my visit with the doctor next week. I am not supposed to eat before the blood removal. After my visit to the vampire office I mean doctor’s office, I will attempt to drop by the Star coffee place and get a cup before heading to the bank. I have a couple things I want ask them about.

Wow, I am done with this article and now I will rest or maybe I will get dressed. We hope you have a wonder filled day and that you are blessed in all you do. Please stay safe in all this heat.

August 17, 2026

We seem to be having a good morning here in Hewitt, we hope other locations are having good morning too.

I did get my favorite grandson Alex to school on time this morning and as I see it, he will have 7 days before he goes for his driver’s test. This is his 4th day of school this year and he has an English test today.

Let’s look at yesterday’s happenings; we went to the cracker store, and we had to wait to be seated. Then we placed our order and we waited too long to get the order. When they brought the order to our table, we saw that it was not what we had ordered. The waitstaff then removed it from our table and put it on another couple’s table. They were not happy with that and a manager was called; they received fresh orders. We continued to wait and finally we spoke with a manager and then our orders came to the table. Food good, service bad!

Back at home we did very little, I did get my bible reading accomplished, and about 4:00pm when we went outside to sit. I started washing the clothes about the same time that we went outside. It was hot and the big ole fan was providing a breeze. As usual it was a quiet afternoon in the neighborhood.

The first load was washed and put in the dryer and the second load was inserted in the washer. I could sit outside for a while and then go check on the washing process. It was determined that I should water the potted plants that were near the driveway, so Tres and I went out back and got the water hose then I watered the potted plants. Never any rest for the old people.

I have a photo of a bloom that is from the Moon Plant. This plant blooms at night and when the sun gets on it the next day the bloom goes away. There is a bee on the bloom.

At one point I was unloading the dryer when a friend pulled into the driveway. We all sat around and talked for a while, most of the conversation was about their car and all the things the car could do. Oh, they also brought my favorite wife and I a red velvet cupcake and they were better than good, they were great. I guess we will need to learn where they bought the cupcakes.

After our friends left, we went inside and had our leftovers from the cracker store for lunch.

                Today’s plans…

Since I have no plans, I guess I should stop entering data and do nothing. We hope you have good plans for the day and that we all have a safe and blessed day.

August 16, 2026

                Good Sunday morning to all.

We had a very good day yesterday; the family all came to our house for a while then we all went into Waco for lunch. It is always good when we can all get together. The food and service were good. After lunch Dave, Claire, Alex, Gabi and Bryce had things to do so they did not come to our house while Patrick and Karla came to our house for a while.

I should note that after eating if I get in my ole recliner and sit still, I will become sleepy, and that happened while Patrick and Karla were here yesterday. A lot of good conversations keep me awake but if the room gets quiet for a few minutes I get sleepy.

My favorite wife and I sat outside yesterday afternoon, and the neighborhood was quieter than normal. I did notice something that has been on the door of the garage for many years. And I have a photo for my enjoyment.

The Texas flag has been on the door for at least 20 years. I attached it with a couple magnets, and it is always hanging there. But I usually do not pay any attention to the flag but for some reason it caught my attention and I took the photo.

Today’s big plan is to go to the cracker store for lunch and then return home kick back and do nothing.

Wow, that is a short number of words. We pray you have a blessed day and that we are all safe in all we do.

August 15, 2026

Our morning is starting off as a good morning; I have put a water sprinkler on an area of the yard that does not get enough water from the lawn sprinklers.

I had a breakfast sandwich, you know, the sandwich that needs to be put in the microwave and heated. Well, this sandwich had cheese and sausage but no egg, yep, they had forgotten the egg. What a way to start my day.

Yesterday, aka my birthday: the day started with a free cup of coffee from the star coffee place. I also took Alex to school and upon returning to my home, I kicked back in the Ford’s ole recliner for about 10 minutes enjoying the free coffee.

Coffee ingested; I headed out back to remove the dog Poopa-Loopa from the back yard. I then decided to go ahead and mow the back yard as about half of it needed to be mowed, while the other half does not get watered and it did not need to be mowed. The yard mowed I then decided to get the string trimmer and trim the back yard. I should note that there was some clouds that reduced the amount of sunlight and there was the occasional breeze that help this ole person to work.

As I was working a friend from down the street came to the fence and got my attention. I walked over to talk with her, and she wished me a happy birthday. She also gave me a birthday card and asked why I was working on my birthday.

Back at work I completed the work and then dragged my ole body into the house in an attempt to cool off before taking a shower.

Shower taken and clothes put on I then forced my ole body to head out to the Wally world store for a couple items. While on the way I decided to go to the hair stylists, also known as barber, to get my hair cut. I was the only customer at that time, and it took about 5 minutes from the time arrived to the time I left.

Hair trimmed I then continued to the store and I will note, “One should avoid all grocery stores on Friday as too many people are there shopping”. There were plenty of shoppers and almost as many employees in the aisles of the store. I did find the things I needed and was able to make it back to the homestead.

Groceries put away I asked my favorite wife if she wanted to go with me into Waco to get a bottle of adult beverage, to which she agreed. We left the house a little after 3:00 so school was not out and traffic was not too bad. I was able to get the bottle and on the way home traffic was terrible. At one traffic light in Waco the line in front of us was so long the light changed four times before we got through the light. We were lucky when we got back to Hewitt, school was not yet out so traffic was not too bad.

Back at home we decided to sit outside with the big ole fan blowing on us. Our friend came over and visited with us as usual on Friday, we had many conversations about our kids and many of the olden day events.

Well let’s see what might happen today.  Patrick and Karla are coming up and Dave and Claire along with Alex will come over. We do not know if Gabi and Brice will come or not, but we will go out for lunch together.

The rest of the day we do not know what might happen, we will wait and see. I am now stopping this too long article, and I hope to get a little rest. We hope everyone has a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Prayers help!

August 14, 2026

Good morning to you and happy birthday to me. I am 29 years old again for the 50th time. If you know how to add and if you were to add 29 + 50 = 29 and that is how old the Don is today.

Birthday events may include a free coffee from the Star coffee place as it is my birthday, take my favorite grandson to school, possibly pick up items from the back yard and maybe mow the back yard, go to the store for a couple grocery items and…

Yesterday we did very little. We received a bid for replacing the two storm doors and it was over $3,000.00, I told him no and he got up and left the house. We do have better bids, and we will use one of them. We did go to an early supper at the George’s restaurant with friends, the food was good and the conversations were mostly about olden days as we have both lived in the neighborhood for more than 45 years. Our kids grew up here and we use to get together a lot.

Back home we did not sit outside as it was 102 degrees and that was too hot.

Well, that is it for now, we pray that you will have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

August 13, 2026

Good morning or good afternoon depending on when you read this article.

Let’s look at yesterday’s events. I did get the grandson to school for his first day yesterday, and I plan to do it again today. I received a call yesterday wanting to know if I had a birthday, and I have not. This person noted that we had received a cake, and we have, and it is very good. Photo to follow.

I have the cake positioned so you cannot see how much had been eaten, the cake is good!

I received a text from a different friend who said there would be a drone delivery in their front yard. If we wanted to watch they would let us know when it was on the way. I got a couple photos for those who have not seen the drones.

Photo one is of the drone as it arrived and was lowering; the drone stays about 10 feet above the ground, and then drops the box to the ground, and then goes back up and fly back to the distribution center.

Photo two is just a closer look at the drone.

Our friends did come over after the drone delivery, and we sat out on the front porch talking for a while. We should have gone inside as it was very hot. Lots of discussions about the olden days, past jobs and the motorcycle that has at times hot-rodded on our street.

Today’s plans: I should go out back and mow the back yard but I might postpone that until tomorrow. We are supposed to have someone come this morning and give us a bid on replacing the two storm doors. Today is Thursday and we usually go out for supper on Thursday afternoon late, also known as date-night.

I stopped at the Star Coffee Place to get a cup before I picked Alex up for school. I had enough points to get a free cup of coffee.

I guess that will be it for now, have a blessed day, stay safe in all you do, keep family and friends in your prayers.

August 12, 2026

                Good morning

Yesterday was another wonderful day at the Fords homestead. It was a take it easy morning for us, with only a couple things that needed to be done in the house. I did finish reading Judges in the bible yesterday, I had wanted to re-read the part about Sampson and I read the entire Judges. When I take the time to consider various events in the bible it can be thought provoking.

My favorite wife and I went out shopping for a while and we purchased three items. Shopping was done and back at home I was allowed to rest a little. We set outside yesterday afternoon in the heat with the big ole fan blowing on us. I have a photo of the leaves that are falling on our yard, all three of them, is Fall here?

We do not discuss things all the time we are out there, but when we do it is interesting and very often it has to do with past events even back to our childhood days. One topic yesterday was when and how we first met. It is to us an interesting story.

Back inside I prepared some food for our supper and then I went out into the back yard to water the potted plants and the berry beds. I was surprised to see a few Black berries still on the bushes. About halfway through I received a call from a neighbor and good friend wanting to meet me in front of our house, so I stopped watering and headed out front. I was presented with a cake and a birthday card. I told him to say thank you, thank you, thank you to his wife for the cake and card.

Yes, my favorite wife and I do enjoy the cake as it is a Rum cake, and it is good.

Today’s main event: take Alex to school as school starts today. I guess I should stop and get dressed so I can head over to his house and get him. We hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Let’s keep all our family and friends in our prayers.

August 11, 2026

Good morning to one and all, I have left the homestead and purchased a cup of coffee and the sun isn’t even up yet. At the Star coffee place, they said I was early and I explained that my dog woke me up at 4:00am this morning.

Yesterday was another do-nothing day. I did read from the bible as usual, the cleaning lady did clean the house, and we did eventually get out of the house in the afternoon. We went to a couple stores where we purchased a couple items and most things cost too much.

We were on our way home at about 4:00pm when we decided to stop at the restaurant for some supper. Neither of us had any lunch so we decided to have and early supper which made up for no lunch.

Back at home we did sit outside and there was a nice breeze, but we still had the big ole fan running.

Wow, old people have a lot to do. I am stopping this article, and I wish you a blessed day as we all stay safe in all we do. We should all continue to pray for others.

August 10, 2026

Well, I hope you are having a good morning, the day seems to have started off nicely except for my sleep time. It seems as if I was awakened at 4:00am and at that time I did allow the dog to go outside for a while. I sat on the Fords ole recliner and waited for him to return to the door.

The dog back in the house, I attempted to go back to sleep but that did not happen. I kept hearing the dog make noises and he came back to the side of my bed, so I got up thinking that he wanted to go outside and stay. I staggered into the front room and went to the door, but he just lay down on the floor and looked at me. It was 4:30 so I just sat there in the ole recliner attempting to dose off to sleep but that did not happen. I later assumed that the dog was wanting me to feed him, so I did.

I had a cup of homemade coffee and sat there in the ole recliner with the so-called news on.

At about 6:30 I woke my favorite wife and told her I was going to get Alex to do the yard work. I have a photo of something that is trying to grow at the stump of the pecan tree that we cut down. I asked Alex to mow it down.

The yard work was completed and Alex helped me wash the dog.

I did get Alex home safely and we discussed school starting this Wednesday and what time I will need to pick him up. Also, On the 25th he goes to take his drivers test and when he passes it, he will then drive himself to school.

Todays big plans: we want to go into Waco to a grocery store and get a couple items but we will need to wait until the cleaning lady gets done cleaning, probably about 2:00pm.

That is all we have for now, have a blessed day and be kind to all old people and stay safe in all you do.

August 9, 2026

             Good morning

Yesterday I did the following; as I stated yesterday, I finished the removal of grass and weeds from the number one bed. This is an ole bed and the plants that are left are small. It looks empty once the weeds and grass is removed.

Let me show you the number three berry bed as it needs to be cleaned out.

I have another photo showing X marks the spot and the X was over Hewitt, TX.

My favorite wife and I went into Waco and had lunch at the Deli. It was ok but not anything exciting.

After lunch we just drove around out in the country for a while just looking and enjoying being out of town.

Back at home we rested inside for a while then we went out to the front porch. It was very hot. The drones were flying back and forth very often. We did not stay outside too long due to the heat.

Today: big plan is to have lunch at the cracker store and then do very little.

I am stopping now, we are praying for a blessed day for you, and that we all stay safe in all we do. Keep family and friends in your prayers.

August 8, 2026

We seem to be starting out on a good morning here in Hewitt.

Allow me to start with my early morning workload from yesterday. I did go out back to the number one berry bed with the intent to remove weeds from the bed. I had my knee pads and a cutter along with some gloves. One doesn’t want to work around these berry plants as that have many stickers on them.

Well, I got down on my knees and this time it was to work and not to pray. I was very thankful for the shade of the tree and the occasional breeze. I quickly noticed that there were a lot more dead vines that I had not expected. The berry plants produce the berries and then the part of the plant that produced the berries dies. When one is trying to remove the grass and weeds one needs to remove the dead parts of the plants as they grow up from the ground and are mixed in with the grass and weeds.

To make a short story long, I put more time in removing the dead parts of the plants than I did removing the grass and weeds. I did get about two thirds of the bed cleared and then the sun came over the top of the tree, and it was too hot to work.

I put the tools away and dumped the cutting into the trash container then I headed into the house to cool off and then get a shower.

After the shower I headed to the cleaners where I picked up my clothes and then headed to the grocery store where I purchased a few items. Friday is not the best day to go to the store as too many people are there shopping.

Back at home I put everything away and I allowed my ole body to get on the ole worn-out recliner and rest (aka nap time).

After a rest period I then headed int the office as I call it and started my reading of the bible. (you might want to read John 21:18, if you are over 50) Reading completed I had lunch and it was leftovers from last night’s meal at the restaurant. The leftovers were good as usual.

Later in the afternoon a friend came over and brought a couple items with her and one of them was cookies. As we sat outside it was suggested that I should water the potted plants in the back yard which I did, as I was supposed to be sitting outside and resting.

Now you know I had another do-nothing day.

Today’s events: no real plans, I did finish the grass removal from the berry bed and I will rest and enjoy the rest of the day.

I guess I should stop and let you get started. We hope your day is filled with many blessings and that one of them is that we all stay safe in all we do.

August 7, 2026

It is another good morning here in Hewitt Texas, and we hope it is also good in your hometown.

Yesterday started off a little odd. I brought a container with water in it to my favorite wife’s chair, and I dropped it and there was water and ice on many things. The morning was not starting out good. After everything was cleaned up and my favorite wife was comfortable with the clean up, I went to get a cup of coffee at the star coffee place. My old gold card now has about 20 cents on it. Wow, what will I do when I need another real coffee?

Back at home I tried to rest before starting reading from the bible. I also vacuumed the dog hair from the floor before starting the reading. Reading went well and was enjoyable as usual.

Then my favorite wife and I went to the store for a couple of items and on the way home we stopped at a hamburger place to get some take home food. It was ok but not excellent.

We also stopped at the drug store on our way home for a prescription for me. It was free so I could afford these pills.

Later in the day we went to supper and the food was good and the service was very good. We made it back home safe and we sat outside for a while with the big old fan blowing air on us. When we came into the house I turned the portable sprinkler on at the number one berry bed. I might pull weeds from the berry bed in the morning before it gets hot and if the ground is wet the weeds come out easier.

Today’s big events: I need to get a few groceries today and I need to get the clothes from the cleaners. Wow, never any rest for an old person. I will stop for now so I can get going. We hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

August 6, 2026

Good morning to one and all, we hope we all have a blessed day!

As usual yesterday was another do nothing day for the Don, we did go to a store and get a couple items, and I now understand I need a couple more items. I should be making a list of needed items, especially those my favorite wife may need.

Now that I am on the subject of remembering, I will provide a true statement about remembering. Yesterday afternoon as my favorite wife and I sat outside it was determined that I should make an adult beverage for myself. I was able to get my old body out of the chair on the front porch, and I did make it into the house where I made my drink. (my adult beverage consists of a glass full of ice, one ounce of booze and the rest diet coke) I did top the drink off with diet coke as usual and was able to get back onto the chair on the front porch. It took a couple minutes and a taste or two of the drink before I realized I had not put any adult beverage in the glass; it was all ice and diet coke. I forgot the booze.

Different topic, In the olden days I use to look things up when we needed information but now days, I just ask my cell phone, and AI gives me the answer. I had an old hose that was 100 foot long and I was wondering if it could be recycled. I asked the phone and it said no, do not put the old garden hose in the recycle bin. It even gave me a reason why it isn’t recycled. Wow, people do less and AI alone with the robots do more.

Well, I will stop bothering you now and allow you to have a blessed day. Please stay safe in all you do. We will keep you in our prayers.

August 5, 2026

Well, it is morning, and I can get up and do a couple things, so I guess that makes it a good morning. I went out into the back yard and worked before 7:00 this morning and a 92 year ole person should not need to work that early, and I shouldn’t either.

What Was the Don doing before 7:00 AM this morning? I had some limbs that I had trimmed yesterday from our neighbor's tree which were hanging over our side of the fence. This is in the opposite corner from the tree that Alex and I had trimmed last week.

I had estimated that it would take me 30 minutes to cut up the limbs into small pieces and bring them to the trash container. I was correct, it took almost exactly 30 minutes.

I am now back in the house sitting here at the computer trying to enter some data for this soon to be non interesting posting.

Yesterday I took the new hose out back stretched it out in the sunlight so it would be nice and flexible. I connected it to the faucet and ran some water through it. Since I had it connected and the water running through it, I watered the number 2 and a #3 BlackBerry beds but I could not water the number one since it was in the broad sunlight.

While I was watering the number 2 berry bed I got a picture of some red blackberries. That is odd as this time of the year we do not usually see any new berry on the vines, and we are usually trimming the old vines.

I did remove the temperature gage from the so-called hothouse, and it needs batteries, so I will need to go to the store today and purchase a couple batteries. I have one of these temperature gauges in the garage and on the back porch and obviously in the hothouse so I can keep track of temperatures in different places.

Before my favorite wife and I went outside to enjoy the heat, and it was hot, we got in the Fords ole Chevy and went to get ice teas, these were to help us survive the heat when we set outside. We also got some chicken salad meals for our supper.

Back at home we did sit outside with the big ole fan providing a good breeze for us. As usual while I was resting outside, I had a couple projects that I did. First, I replanted a cactus plant that was in a broke pot, then I set up a lawn sprinkler in an area that does not get enough water from the lawn sprinkler system.

It was a quiet afternoon with almost no traffic on the street but there were some drones making deliveries. The birds seem to have abandoned all the bird houses that hang on the car port.

Not that it means anything, but we did have several discussions about the olden days, you know when we were kids and teenagers.

Big plans for the day, take a shower, go into Waco for a couple items and then rest.

Well, that is it for now, we hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. We will keep you in our prayers.

August 4, 2026

Good morning to you, and to that other person we say hello.

Yesterday we had a couple events: first I decided to get a cup of real coffee so I left the homestead and went to the coffee place for a cup. Back at home I kicked back on the Ford’s ole recliner with the coffee in hand and rested (aka nap).

Rest completed I started to go read the bible, but I decided I had better vacuum the floors. Work was done, I then began the reading process, and it was interesting. I am trying to read slower and think more about what I read.

After reading I talked my favorite wife into going with me to get gas in the vehicle and we also got a couple ice teas from the chicken place. We then drove around in Waco to see where a certain restaurant was located. We found the restaurant but did not go in, and then we headed to the cheap store.

At the cheap store we purchased a new 100-foot-long water hose. Our ole hose is broken. Back at home we did nothing for a while. We did go outside and sat on the front porch for a couple hours. As we sat there, I decided to put some water in the bird baths and while I was doing that a drone came over very slowly. I watched it lower down in the neighbors back yard and dropped off the carton then it went back up and flew away.

I had a fan blowing some air on us while we sat outside and after an hour the battery went dead. While we sat there, I received a call from the people who we have been talking to about installing a couple of new storm doors. They were not cheap.

Today we need to take Alex to ROTC even though I believe he told me, “he had this week off from ROTC”. My favorite wife will go with me to get Alex and then after dropping him off at school we will go to George’s for breakfast. At this point in time, we have no other big plans for the day.

Please stay safe in all you do today and we pray you have a blessed day.

August 3, 2026

Good morning to all as we start the day with no humidity, so maybe the heat will not be too bad.

Yesterday’s main event: as I was in the house reading some info about the upcoming bible study class, I receive a call from a good friend asking me to come outside and meet him near the mailbox. I proceeded out front and I was presented with a Banana Pudding. I thanked him and asked him to thank his wife as she made the pudding. My favorite wife and I both enjoyed the Banana Pudding after our supper. It has been a long time since I had Banana Pudding, and it was excellent! Wow, we have very good friends.

The rest of the day was ok, we went to the cracker store for lunch, then we went to a store to get a battery for my favorite wife’s watch and while we were there, we also purchased a new watch. It was good that we purchased a new watch as we have been unable after replacing the battery to get the back put on the old watch.

We sat on the front porch yesterday enjoying the afternoon. Most of the time there was a breeze, but I did have my hand made fan too. The drones were very busy yesterday afternoon as there was probably more than 12 fly over. If you haven’t been around the drones they fly a direct path to their destination, they stop at the destination, get close to the ground and drop the package, then go back up to a safe height and then fly a direct path back to the Amazon. Their propellers make a buzzing sound.

Today’s big plan hasn’t come to me yet, so it may be a do-little day. I guess I should stop for now, we hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Keep family and friends in your prayers.

August 2, 2026

It is a good morning here in Hewitt, it is in the low 70s outside and that makes it a good morning.

Our big plans for today would be to go out for lunch, rest a lot, do our bible reading and set outside as we would again be resting. Wow, that sounds like we rest a lot.

Yesterday was a good day for us, we had discussed a trip to the Blue Bonnet Café for lunch just to get us out of the house for a while, but there seemed to be things that kept us home. For example, my wife was going through some things, I am not sure what she was looking for, so I went out back to finish cutting up the limbs that Alex and I had removed from the live oak tree. I finished the project which took longer that I had thought and that may be why we did not go out of town yesterday. Photos to follow.

In the container you may see that I cut things into very small pieces and that is done to get more in the trash can.

It the wagon are the larger pieces and our son Dave said he would take them to burn in the fireplace.

I have one more photo and it is for that one person who looked at the photo of the tree in yesterday post and said, “it did not look as if it had been trimmed”. I have a photo from a different direction with no other trees behind it. Yes, our work supervisor Tres is in the photo too.

I was able to talk my favorite wife into going to the George’s for a late lunch and when we arrived, they were crowded. We did get lucky and got a handicap parking space at the front door. Food and service was good even with the large number of people who were there.

Back at home we decided to sit on the front porch as there was a breeze and the temperature was not 100 degrees. After a while my favorite wife decided to take a walk down the street which we did and we did stop and talk to friends who were in the yard working. We have good friends and good neighbors. As we were talking, I noticed a vehicle pull into our driveway. It was another good friend who comes to visit on Friday or Saturday afternoon. We walked back to the house, and we sat outside on the driveway with the big ole fan blowing on us.

Well, I need to stop so I can get started, so have a blessed day and stay safe in all you do. Please keep your family and friends in your prayers.
