April 21, 2026

It is a rainy good morning here in Texas. This rain is like what I refer to as Missouri rain, slow and all-day long rain.

Well, that is all for now we hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

What? You want more information. We didn’t do anything yesterday, at least I do not remember doing anything. My favorite wife did go to the rehab, we did not go out to lunch, we were at home doing little.

One thing which did occur was interesting to me. I wanted to find the title to the Fords ole Chevy. I could not find the title to the Fords ole van when we were getting rid of it, so I wondered if I would find the title to the Ford’s ole Chevy. As I was going to the safe, I looked down and there was a penny on the floor, and it was heads up. Many years ago, when we were first married, any time we found a penny heads up something good would happen. The penny heads up gave me confidence that I would find the title.

It took a couple of tries to get the safe open and I started looking through the paperwork. We do not have money or valuable stored in the safe but there are a bunch of papers even some ole tax forms. Let me make this a little shorter, I found the title to the fords ole van and I found the title to the fords ole chevy. As you can now see, when you find a penny heads up it can mean good luck, “if you believe”.

Now I will wish you another good day and that you stay safe in all you do.

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

We are having a cool good morning here in Hewitt.

We here at the Fords homestead did very little yesterday. Were we able to have lunch at the cracker store, heck we were even able to get a handicap parking space at the store. The food was good and the service was also good.

Leaving cracker store we drove to the gas station and purchased 7 gallons of fuel for the Fords new chevy. Do any of you remember in the olden days when a gas station was called a service station. In those days they would put the gas in your vehicle for you, yes, you did not need to get out of your vehicle, and they would clean your windshield. I also remember gas at 30 cents per gallon.

Back at home we did very little, I did finish my bible study homework, and we did sit outside later in the afternoon. Our son Dave brought us some homemade Chicken Pot Pie which is much appreciated.

Today, we took Alex to school safely and on time and my favorite wife has a rehab today. I have no other plans currently; I might wash the clothes but that is a lot of work for an ole person.

Thanks for reading these comments, we hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Love your neighbor as yourself.

April 19, 2026

Good morning, the sun is shining but it is cool outside this Sunday morning.

Well Saturday seemed like Sunday to me, and all day I kept reminding myself that it is Saturday. This Saturday was unusual as we did not leave the house at all, not even for a sandwich for lunch as our yard man Alex did not come over and we usually take him into town for lunch on Saturday.

It had been cool all Saturday and it even became cooler in the afternoon. We did get some rain about 5:00pm. Speaking of cool weather, I decided to attempt to create some chili for myself and my favorite wife due to the cool weather. This time the chili was good, maybe not as good as if my favorite wife would have made it, but it was good enough for both of our meals.

I did work on my Bible study and got some of it done. I also set around doing nothing and taking a nap or two. My favorite wife received two packages yesterday, one from Patrick and Karla, the other something she had ordered. I did not get anything.

Plans for Sunday are most likely having lunch at the cracker store and then who knows. We hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

We have a good morning starting here in Hewitt and we are supposed to have a cool rainy day.

I did almost nothing yesterday: I did get a photo of the sun as I was heading to the coffee shop yesterday.

Yes, the sun was behind a cloud.

I decide to try to do my bible study one more time as I was having a problem. I had read the bible verses and then could not answer the questions. I was about to give up when I discovered I was reading from Micah when I should have been reading from Malachi. Yep, I am not that good at studying.

Later I did get the new mower out and trimmed the front yard using the grass catcher. Basically, I was just clipping the top of the grass to see how the mower worked with the grass catcher.

We had some good friends drop by yesterday and we talked about many things and we enjoyed the visit.  Later in the afternoon as we sat outside another friend came over and visited us.

Well, the yards are all mowed and ready for the rain that is supposed to be here today. I should stop for now and let you have some time for yourself. Have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

We are starting with a good morning here at the Ford’s house, we hope your morning is also good.

Due to all the comments, I received from yesterday’s post, I have learned that short posts with less information are not needed.      There were no comments about small posts.

I will comment on some of the things I did yesterday other than taking Alex to school. Speaking of Alex, he will be going to a ROTC competition tomorrow. No, I do not know what the competition is, but I am sure it is something physical.

Yesterday I decided to start the new item I had purchased (aka mower) and see how it mows. I started mowing around a flower bed and then alone the fence then around everything in the back yard. It took about 35 minutes to do all that trimming. I then decided to get on the riding mower and mow the rest of the yard. The grass was very tall and still a little wet, the clippings were piling up everywhere. I also mowed over some of the areas a second time attempting to mulch them, but they are still there. When the grass is that tall you have piles of clippings. There are some areas that need to be trimmed with the string trimmer but that can wait.

While I was mowing, the neighbor’s yard was being mowed by a 6 year old boy. He was using an electric mower, and he was about as tall as the handles of the mower, he was actually doing a good job. The electric mower was self-propelled and would stop as soon as he let go of the handle.

After all that work, I decided to change the oil in the riding mower, so I set it up draining the oil and I went into the house. I needed to get an oil filter for the mower, so I went to the store and spent too much money on the filter ($14.00). I installed the oil filter and almost 2 quarts of oil. Now this mower has new oil, new oil filter, and a new battery but the mower is old. Wow it is like an ole senior citizen who has some new clothes on.

My favorite wife and I went to the restaurant for our supper on date night last night. Food was good and when we returned home, we did sit outside for a while.

Today, we have rehabilitation this morning and there are no other plans for the day. I might get the new mower and mow the front yard with the bagger just to see how that works. The front yard does not need to be mowed but I can consider that as a learning experience.

I will attempt to stop for now, we hope you have a very good day and stay safe in all you do.

Is it morning again? Is it also a good morning? I guess we will not know until it is finished.

Yesterday’s few events: Alex got to school, I saw a new bloom in the backyard,

My favorite wife went to the doctor, then we went to the sandwich shop and had a sandwich, we went to a store and bought one thing, went to another store and purchased one thing, went home and I rested for a while. I went to the store and bought something.

I came home and we sat outside, we looked at the thing I bought and Tres, we had supper and I again rested.

Wow I am tired and I think I should stop and rest some more. We hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

I would like to say good morning, but it is Tax Day so…

Let us try a quick review of yesterday’s events; I did get Alex to school in a safe manner, and I did get the old walk behind lawn mower out and mowed the front yard even though it almost did not start, I have a photo for my enjoyment.

You should look at that photo and consider how it looks almost as good as if our yard man Alex did the work.

I did check on the price of mowers yesterday and found two that I might be interested in. I might need to take out a lone to pay for the lawn mower as they do cost a lot.

Our good friend brought us a cake yesterday and it is very good, my favorite wife and I both like it.

Now this is real news: yesterday evening after dark I was sitting here in the Ford’s ole worn out recliner when Tres and I both heard a sound coming from the backyard. I had not heard this sound since I was a kid, probably 65 years ago. Back then we lived in Missouri out in the country. The sound caught both my attention and Tres. I turned the sound off on the TV and the sound kept coming. It was a whippoorwill which is a bird and it does its hunting at night. Tres and I went out on the back porch, and I saw a bird fly out of the tree and the was no more sounds.

Today’s event will be a doctor’s visit, and we want to go to a store in Waco after the visit, possibly lunch in town. I might attempt to get a loan to buy a new lawn mower.

We hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do

                Good morning

Yesterday was a day of not doing a lot, but we did do some things. When I was heading over to get a cup of coffee, I looked in the rearview mirror and saw a police vehicle following me. I activated the turn signal and made a safe left turn, the police was still behind me. At the end of that street, I made a right turn and the cop continued to be on my tail. At the next corner I turned left, and he stayed right behind me. I had been making sure I did not exceed the speed limit. I turned right which put me on the Star coffee place parking lot. I continued to the drive through and the officer was still right behind me. I got my coffee and drove away, but the police officer stayed at the drive through waiting on his cup of coffee.

I did get Alex to school on time, and I made it back home safely.

I picked up the debris from the front yard which was put there by the storm the night before. I did a lot of relaxing after the yard work. We did go to the rehab in the afternoon, and all went well, they told her she is doing good.

I sat outside for a while and as I was out there, I observed a lizard, photo to follow.

This little green guy hangs around a lot, and we do have several lizards living outside the homestead. In the photo he is hanging on a bell that is hung on the bush.

I was walking with our dog when I noticed a friend drove into their driveway and they had a new SUV, and they still had their pickup truck. I learned they had just purchased the vehicle, and it is like our SUV except that it is not white like ours.

We had a very nice Bible study meeting last night. Well, I should stop and get started so I will wish you a good day and hope we all stay safe in all we do.

We are having a good morning here in Hewitt and we have had a bunch of rain recently. I can’t tell you how much rain we received as I do not have a rain gage.

It stormed last night and our dog Tres does not like thunder, so he jumped on the bed and got between us. He was there until the storm passed.

I do have a photo to provide which shows we have received enough rain to have water standing in our backyard. This photo is taken from our security cameras so you will see more than one area at our homestead.

The lower right-side view is the back yard with standing water. There is much more water standing in the back 40 now due to the heavy rain last night.

Sunday, we went to the cracker store for lunch, and it was good. We returned home and my favorite wife had several projects that she worked on, mostly moving and placing decorations. I did get my bible study homework completed during all the rainy weather. I was allowed to wash the clothes yesterday, but we did not get to sit outside in the afternoon.

Today: I took Alex to school, and my favorite wife has a rehab session today. I will need to go to the grocery store today and get a few items.

The storm and heavy rain last night caused some problems. There are many trash cans that were blown over or washed down the street due to the rain. I have a photo of a trash can that was washed down the street until it hit a mailbox.

If the mailbox was properly positioned, that trash can would not have hit it. Who knows how far it might have gone without the mail box.

April 12, 2026

We have been having some rain this morning, so we wish you a good morning.

Yesterday’s work: after breakfast I kicked back in the ole recliner and took a nap. After a few minutes of rest, I decided that since it was cloudy I should finish trimming the ditch. I knew the grass and weeds were wet and that I would have wet feet and pants.

I decided to get dirty clothes which I wore yesterday and wear them. I went out to the shed and got the trimmer out and I changed the oil before I started working. This trimmer has a four-cycle motor, and it uses about two ounces of oil. That done I filled it with gas and headed to the ditch. When I open the gate, I always let the dog Tres go out to the ditch for a while. Once he was back in the yard, I started the trimmer and ventured into the ditch. I had been trimming for a couple minutes when it began to rain. It wasn’t raining hard, but it was wet and only lasted a minute or two.

I trimmed for a while, and the sun started to shine. I did not have a cap on, and I did not have my sunglasses. The sun was like the rain and only hung around for a couple minutes.

I had trimmed for about an hour when the trimmer ran out of gas, and I had a very small number of weeds (a strip about 4 feet long and a foot wide) that still needed to be trimmed.

The blue arrow points at the remaining small number of weeds that need to be trimmed.

I decided not to fill the gas tank, so I got the ole weed trimmer, photo to follow.

In the above photo we see the hand trimmer and my supervisor Tres. I used the hand trimmer to get the last few weeds removed.

I have a photo of the finished product. You may notice the weeds by the wooden fence and that 4 feet from the fence is not my property.

That is too much work for a 92-year-old person, and too much for me too.

I sat around most of the afternoon and did very little. I did sit outside for a while but my favorite wife did not sit with me as she was doing some rearranging and dusting in the house. At about 5:00pm I decided to go into Waco and get a bottle of adult beverage. Returning home I had a drink and I had supper.

The three stooges are on the TV as I am entering this data into the computer.

I have connected my laptop to the TV screen on the desk, and it is at least twice as big as the laptop screen. Ole people can see it better. I would like to be able to shut the laptop and still have it running and connected to the TV, that would have it out of my way as I enter data.

I guess I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and that you are nice to everyone as you are safe in all you do.

April 11, 2026

It appears to be a good morning, but it isn’t raining yet.

Yesterday we did go to the rehab at lunch time. Yes, instead of eating my favorite wife was stretching and exercising. I was alone in the waiting room and there was a bible laying there so I did some reading. The rehab finally ended so we went int to Waco where I drove to a deli, but it was too crowded and there were no parking places close to the door. We then went to the sandwich shop, and they were busy, but they had some parking spaces. The sandwich was good and we then headed home.

I was able to do some of my bible study homework before we went outside to enjoy the afternoon weather. I did take the laptop outside with me and I was able to order an item for my favorite wife while we sat outside. The item is to help with her rehab at home. No, they did not offer to deliver by drone. We see the drones fly over but I can’t find something to order that they would send a drone.

A friend dropped by and enjoyed the nice weather with us as we sat outside. Later another friend who was out for a walk stopped and visited for a while.

ALL that completed and we headed back indoors I was allowed to go get some chicken salad for our supper.

Today, I left the homestead to get a burrito for our breakfast, and I did get a cup of real coffee too.  Now I am attempting to put this article together.

I have considered the possibility that I might finish the ditch trimming if the rain stays away today, but I would need to get all dirty again and that would mean another shower. If I keep taking showers to be clean, I might use all my soap.

Thanks to all who commented on the photos on yesterday’s post, wait a minute, no one commented on the late afternoon post. Wow, if my posts aren’t on schedule, no one reads them.

That is it for now, have a good day and be safe in all you do.

Yesterday I worked in the ditch for about 3 hours. I have a ditch photo showing I was able to get about 2/3 of the ditch cleared.

In the following photo you might see that the front yard looks better than the ditch.

We hope you are having a very good morning I mean having a very nice day.

yesterday: I wanted to cut weeds in the ditch, and I got some of my tools ready but  a friend provided me with some info about insurance. I have wanted to get some less expensive insurance on the vehicles and house. I began gathering the info I needed to provide for the insurance estimate, like how old the roof on the house is. It took me some time to get all the info and then my printer was not working. It seemed as if everything was taking too long. I finally got the printer working and was able to provide all the info and sent it to the agent. I was told I would get a reply today, and they have but I have not had the time to review them yet.

I did get to water the flowers in the pots and the berry beds yesterday. I was also able to watch the bible study lecture on my computer, but I still have a bunch of bible study homework to do.

After sitting outside with my favorite wife for a while it was decided that I could go and get some to-go food for our supper. Supper finished I have started on this soon to be uninteresting posting.

Today: my favorite wife had two doctor appointments, the first starting at 8:45 and the second 9:25, they are both in the same building and on the same floor. We made it to both and the second was supposed to start at 9:25 but we had finished the appointment and left the building at 9:25. We then went to the store where I purchased an item. Back at home I rested for a while then I went out to the back ditch where I worked my old body for too long. 92 years ole people should not cut weeds and I should not either.

We have just returned from supper and both the food and service were good.  We are now sitting outside, and I have the laptop here finishing this morning’s report.

We hope you have had a good day and have a safe and good night.

It is a good morning, and the sun is bright and warm.

After getting Alex to school in a safe manner and returning home, I took a short break and then I headed to the store to get some groceries. Groceries acquired I headed for home and put the groceries away. Yes, I did get some ice cream.

My favorite wife went to rehab yesterday, and I was allowed to sit in the waiting area for an hour while she having fun working out. As I sat there, I realized that I did not have my cell phone. When the rehab was over, we decided to go into Waco for a couple items. We headed for home to get my cell phone and then we went into Waco.

First, we went to the cheap store where my favorite wife purchased some batteries.  Then we headed to another store where I purchased a couple frozen pizzas, then we headed for home. Back at home I decided to go to the dollar store and get a couple of batteries for our dog’s shock collar. I do not need to shock him to get his attention. The collar makes a noise before it shocks or, it just makes a noise. The noise caused Tres stop doing whatever he was doing and listen to me.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside for a while yesterday before I was allowed to make supper for us. I do know how to use the microwave so yes, I can keep us from starving.

Today there are no big plans, I might pick up some clothes from the cleaners, I might check on price for car insurance, I might cut some weeds from the ditch, I did get Alex to school on time and safely even though the road was blocked by fire trucks and police vehicles.

I hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do. Lets try to be nice to at least one person today. Yep, I am stopping dictating and taking a break.

                Good morning to all.

Yesterday we did get the yard work completed. I still want to clear the weeds out of the ditch behind the house. Alex our yard man, does good work. My favorite wife and I did sit outside for a while before I went to bible study.

We had a good bible study meeting last night, but we only had 7 in our class. The small group meant everyone needed to participate and there were many good comments.

Note: I have sent a check to the IRS on the first of March. I used USPS certified mail hoping to know that the check had made it to the IRS. I went to the post office twice over a three-week period trying to get delivery information, but no such information. Yesterday I got a bank statement showing that the IRS had cashed the check.

I did get Alex to school this morning without any problems; he had his uniform on as they wear the ROTC uniforms on Tuesday. I need to go to the grocery store this morning, and my favorite wife has rehab this afternoon. Wow, I need a rest before I do any work so I will say have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

I just Looked outside and it appears we are having a good morning here in Hewitt TX.

Yesterday's events: really did not do a lot yesterday we did head over to the cracker store for Launch. There were plenty of people there ahead of us the wait time to get seated was supposed to be one hour it was actually about 40 minutes before we got seated. I did see an old friend as we waited to be seated. A fellow that used to be in the Volunteer Fire Department with me. His name was Jerry and he seems to be doing really good even though he said he was 82 years old he still gets around just fine.

We had a real good server, the food was excellent, we both enjoyed our lunch and our time there together. Back home it was an easy and relaxing day. A friend dropped by and she brought a couple pieces of cheesecake with her which turned out to be really good later after supper.

A young lady whose grandmother lives next door to us came over with a gift for my wife and me. This young lady is 11 years old, and she does a lot of nice artwork, and I have a photo of the gift that she gave us. This young lady will likely become an artist. The sun set is very pretty, and I do note this photo isn’t as good as the drawing in real life.

Even though it was cool 72° outside, we decided we'd go sit out yesterday afternoon late in the day. While outside we had another friend sitting outside with us he seemed to be attempting to warm himself in the sunlight.

Today we plan to get our yard man Alex over and do some yard work.

I will stop and take a break from all this dictating, we hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

April 5, 2026

It is Sunday morning, Easter. Please consider the meaning of Easter and how it can alter your life.

Today is April 5th, and 57 years ago my favorite girlfriend became my favorite wife, and she has put up with me all that time.

Yesterday: Patrick and Karla came to our house, and we all went into Waco for lunch. It was raining but we made it to the restaurant, the food was good and the service was good.

Back at home I took a short nap before Patrick and Karla arrived, but it seems as if I should have taken a long nap. As we sat there, I would just drift off to sleep for a minute or so. Finally, I got up and got a cup of coffee and then I was able to stay away and focused on discussions.

Later when they left, I looked out in the back yard and saw a limb that had broken out of the tree and was lying behind the hot house. Photo to follow.

As you can see it was large and near the hot house. I cut the small limbs off the log and then cut the log in half and put them on the trailer. A 92-year-old man should not be required to do that kind of work, and I shouldn't either.

I have another photo of a black berry that is starting to grow outside the #3 berry bed. It is about 8 feet away from the #3 bed and against the ole tree stump. I doubt that we can dig it up so that it may be the start of the #4 berry bed.

After all that work and taking photos, my favorite wife and I did venture outside and enjoyed the cool windy afternoon. There was no traffic and the neighborhood was very quiet.

Today: we have no big plans for today we may attempt to have lunch at the cracker store if we can find a parking space. The rain is supposed to have stopped and if it stays dry all day, we will have Alex to come over Monday and mow.

We hope you have a good Easter, and that we all stay safe in all we do.
