October 18, 2024

It is another cool good morning here in the great town of Hewitt. It is said that we will get to a high of 80 today, I guess that is still fall weather for us in Texas.

In just a few minutes I will leave the homestead and go to the Burrito emporium and attempt to purchase a couple burritos. Arriving back at home I will attempt to cut the burritos in half. I get half of one and my favorite wife gets half of one. The other two halves go to Alex and Gabi when I pick them up to go to school. Yep, they will need to eat theirs while I am driving.

Ok I am back and have the two burritos, I cut them in half, and I have eaten my half, my favorite wife has her half, the other two haves are wrapped and ready to go.

Let us move to yesterday’s events: I did attempt to rake a path through the front yard to see how many acorns I could retrieve. This path was about two feet wide and at least 30 feet long. I raked them to the street. I then got the leaf blower and blew away the dead grass. There was another small pile in the street that I had raked a week ago. I put both piles together and have a photo.

Either I am not good at raking, but I am good, or there aren’t as many acorns on the ground yet. There are three oak trees in the front yard and the middle tree still has small acorns on it. I would like it if we did not get any acorns off these trees.

During the raking process I had visitors from both homes across the street from us. We discussed the recent 2-week vacation that the first neighbor took. He and his wife got on a ship and went to Hawaii, and the second neighbor commented on the fact that he and his wife had gone to Hawaii in the past also, then the first neighbor noted that this was their second trip to Hawaii. Now me and my wife have not even been outside of the state of Texas together for probably 8 years. Rich retired people can go on all those nice trips and ole retired people on a fixed income get to stay at home.

Changing the topic, we did go out to supper yesterday afternoon and the food and service was very good. After supper I stopped by Daves house and dropped off a couple shirts for Alex. Both shirts have the name FORD on them and Alex likes caps and shirts that has Ford on them. He had one of them on when I took them to school this morning.

Back at home yesterday afternoon we did sit outside for a while, it was cool but not cold, and we enjoyed the neighbors’ grandkids visiting. The boy is the youngest and he is learning how to ride a bike and the girl who is a little older was being a big sister to the boy, you know annoying him. They were both afraid of Tres.

I need to get going to get our grandkids off to school.

I am back and I gave them their half a burrito with hot sauce, and this hot sauce is hot! I did get them to school on time and in a safe mode.

Well, I guess I should rest for a while before I start my daily reading and homework, we hope you all have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

Plan not, do not.

Senior ole person who hasn’t been to Hawaii or out of the state lately, Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow!
