            Good cool morning to all, we are supposed to stay cool all day today but in a couple days we should warm back up into the 70s.

            Alex was here at our house yesterday for most of the day after a visit to the doctor, he has bronchitis and now he has some medicine to help him get over this coughing. Speaking of Alex, I need to get out of here and go get the grandkids and take them to school. I am back now and Alex was not coughing at all, the meds must be working.

            Fall may be here, the neighbor’s trees are turning red and a lot of the trees are dropping leaves, photo to follow. 

             Yesterday’s events by me, “The Don”; we noticed that the so-called hot house had a temp of 100 degrees (yes, I am able to sit at my desk and see the temperatures on the back porch, in the hot house, in the garage, and in the office where I sit) so I decided to go out and open the door to the hot house and allow it too cool down some. Opening the door, I saw a mouse trap had been tripped, but no mouse in it. Evidently, we still have varmints that can get into and out of the hot house.

            Different topic; Alex and I had some interesting conversations yesterday about the possibility of time travel, aliens from other worlds and many other subjects. 

Today; I need to go to the bank and see if they will give me some money and I need to drop off some shirts at the cleaners. Heck, while I am out and about, I might possibly get a cup of real coffee.

One last photo of the front of the Ford homestead, I do not have any plans to add anything else to the decorations.

            The sky is still dark as I start this posting, I have just learned that I do not need to get the grandkids and take them to school, Alex is going to the doctor because of a cough, so Clair will take Gabi to school. Alex will come to the Ford homestead after visiting the doctor. Oh, I still want to wish you a good morning.

            I have learned that they are expecting a lot of work at DIB for the next few weeks, and that means there may be overtime. Dave and Claire working longer hours means I may be needed to pick the kids up from school a few days each week.

            Yesterday’s events; we did go to the cracker store for lunch, assuming that we would need to wait probably 30 minutes to be seated. Arriving at the store the parking spaces were full, so I dropped my favorite wife off at the door and drove around looking for a place to park. I was lucky as a vehicle pulled out and I pulled in, I then walked back to the front of the store.

            They said it would take 15 minutes to be seated, it took maybe 3 minutes and we were seated. We ordered pot roast and if you haven’t tried it, you should as it is good.

            Leaving there we went to Wally world as I wanted some car wax. I did not find what I wanted so we left there and went into Waco to the cheap store where we purchase some spray wax for the vehicle and a blanket for the bed. My favorite wife has been saying that she was not warm enough when sleeping so we got the blanket. It worked she was warm enough last night.

            I did go to the hot house yesterday and the rat trap was tripped but no rat. I was able to place a piece of wood over the hole and I nailed it in place, hoping to keep any varmint’s out. Other than that, I did very little yesterday. I did watch the movie King of Kings yesterday afternoon with some popcorn and peanuts, and later I realized that I did not have supper. I guess the snacks took the place of real food.

            Well, I guess that is it for now, we hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

            Sunday morning but no sunshine this morning. Even though there is no sun this morning we still wish you a good morning. I checked the free rain gage, and we have over ½ inch of rain again, that makes the total here at the Ford Homestead to be almost 1.5 inches in the last couple days.

            We went into Waco for a quick lunch, and it was good then we went to the cheap store and there were a lot of people in the store. During our visit we picked up a couple small items as we went through the store. As we were finishing our shopping, we noticed how long the line was for checking out, it appeared to be 20 to 30 minutes to check out, so we put the two items back and left the store.

            At home I took a nice nap as it was still raining outside. My favorite wife had two items that she wanted to hang on the front porch. I removed a couple items yesterday afternoon and we hung the two lights about 6:00pm. They are on timers and will come on when our other lights come on at 6:00.

            The rain is appreciated by most people but some ole people appreciated it even more, as the rain keeps the ole people inside and resting. Ole people are sweet as sugar, and if they get out in the rain they will melt.

            Sunday plans: do almost nothing other than go to the cracker store for lunch and hopefully check the hot house to see if I have eradicated any rodents.

            Wow that is a short post and that should make you happy, a post with few words and no photos. Oh, I see that one person who needs to see a photo so I will add one.

Good rainy morning to you and to that other person too. It is 43 degrees and there is a lite rain this morning, we are thankful for the rain. 17 days till Christmas eve.

Let's see if the Don did anything interesting or productive yesterday; he did decide to water the plants in the hot house and in doing so he found that there are unwelcomed creatures in the hot house. Some of the plants have been eaten partially and one small plant is totally gone. I also found a bunch of dirt on the floor under a flower pot. There are ants in the flower pot moving dirt from one side to the other and then some dirt over the top of the pot.

I assume there are either mice or rats eating the plants, as I found a small hole dug under the side of the shed, and there is a small hole that I have in the floor so I can bring the electric wire into the hot house. I did set some rat traps and mice traps to see if I can get some answers as to what is doing this. I did block the outside hole to stop entry from the outside, I have a plan to block the hole inside the house with a movable board. The ants I hope to eliminate with some bug spray.   

            I did go to Dave's house yesterday and get the tables and chairs that we had taken there for the Thanksgiving meal. Back at home I had to put all these items back in their original locations, and that was a lot of work.

I called Alex to see how he did on his test yesterday, and he did good. I also helped my favorite wife install the new decoration on the front porch next to the three crosses. I even got the electric connected so the church would light up with the other items a 6:00pm.

            Tres did have something in the back 40 and he was digging a hole and burying the thing. We thought it was either a rabbit or a squirrel. Later he dug it up and moved it to another location and was going to bury it again. I went out and found that he had a squirrel so I took it from him and tossed it in the trash can. No, he had not tried to eat it, he was just hiding it, probably for a later meal. 

Today being Saturday, we will attempt to go into town for the sandwich and the cheap store if the rain doesn't rain too hard and keep us from getting into and out of the Ford's ole Chevy.

 I will stop for now; we hope you have a good and safe day while you are being positive in all you do.

            Good morning to all, I have just returned from getting a couple burritos for breakfast and I will take some to the grandkids to eat on the way to school this morning. It is so cold outside that I must wear a coat and hat to keep my ole body warm.

            Speaking of cold, in the olden days when I rode my motorcycle we would ride even when the temps were in the 30s. I did have special clothes to wear to keep the cold out.

            Yesterday was a slow and mostly boring day for me, I did get Alex to school on time and that is about all I did for the day. Looking for something to do, I did take the leaf blower and blew some leaves off the driveway. The wind is blowing, and the leaves are starting to fall, it will not be long before I will be vacuuming the leaves.

            I did decorate my office for the coming Christmas celebration. I did take a photo, and I will share it with you today. The lamp is from a movie, Christmas Story, and in that movie, it reminds me of what it was to be a kid back in the olden days. There was a store in Cape Girardeau that had Christmas decorations in their windows at Christmas like those in the movie.

            You may also notice the oil can next to the light that has the name of Ford on it, this photo is revealing a part of the Ford’s ole little office. 

            It was cool and windy outside yesterday, so we did not sit outside.

            Well, I guess I need to get ready to get the kids off to school, have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

            We wish everyone a cool good morning. It did rain yesterday, and we got a little over ½ inch of rain, the ground is saying thanks. Please check the following photo to see the free rain gage as proof of the rain.

            I believe I had mentioned that I had put a Garlin on the swing frame where we sit in the afternoons, so I have a better photo for my enjoyment.

             The lights come on at 5:00pm and run for 6 hours, but they are difficult to see in the photo as it was not yet dark outside when I took the photo.

I have another photo of a T-shirt that is at least 73 years old. It belongs to my favorite wife; it even has her name on it when she was an Owen. The shirt might fit a child who was 2 years old.

            The Bunny reference on the shirt was about, “Bunny Bread”. Bunny bread was popular in Cape Girardeau in the olden days.

            Let’s see how the day went yesterday; I did get the grand kids to school safe and on time, it was raining when they got out of the vehicle, I offered them a folding umbrella, but they declined the offer. I went home and did my daily bible reading. I decided to get my hair cut so I went to the stylists, (aka barber). I did not have to wait I was seated as soon as I got there, she did a good job. When she was finishing, I asked the young lady, “where did all the gray hair come from that was around my chair”, she said it wasn’t from her, and then she laughed.

            I left the hair stylists and went to the Star coffee place where I sat in line for way too long. The coffee was lukewarm, so I headed for home thinking I could put it in the microwave. On the way home I decided to stop and get a couple spicy chicken sandwiches. The last time I bought them they were two for $6.00, this time they were $6.00 each. At home the spicy chicken sandwiches were extra spicy!   

My favorite wife was getting ready to go to the store for some needed groceries and I offered to drive her saying, I could drop her off at the door and then I could go to the bank as I needed to talk with them. After dropping my favorite wife off at the store, I went to the bank and was able to get the needed info from a lady at the bank. I headed back to the Wally world where I gave a donation to the salvation army, when I entered the store where my favorite wife was shopping. I found her about halfway through the grocery aisles. After the groceries we went to the male clothing area and I purchased a jacket, then we headed to the Christmas decoration aisle where my favorite wife purchased a Christmas decoration that is a church.

Then we drove to the other grocery store and this time we got a handicapped parking space very close to the door of the store. I stayed in the vehicle, and she went shopping.

Back at home I unloaded all the items we had purchased then I went to the vet to get some drugs for Tres. The dogs’ drugs cost more for one month, than I pay for my medicine in a year.

It was too cool and wet to sit outside yesterday so we stayed inside.

Plans for today, I have no plans for the day, so I will say have a good day, get some rest and be safe in all you do.

            As I start this soon to be boring post, it is still dark outside but only 53 degrees; so not as cold as yesterday, and we wish you another good day.

            Yesterday; we went to the druggist to get some pills and as my favorite wife was getting out of the vehicle someone drove close enough to the Ford’s ole Chevy to leave a mark in the back fender. I did not feel and impact but there is a mark, I hope it isn’t a scratch.

            We went to the restaurant for breakfast and it was good. Eating done we headed to the homestead. I got my bible reading done and then I started the process of getting the empty cartons and decorations that we did not use, out of the garage and into the shed. As usual, I removed items from the shed to make room for the items in the garage, then I removed things and carried them to the shed. I carefully positioned items in the shed so I would have room for all the items. The project took a couple hours but I did get it done and my favorite wife’s van is now back in the garage.

            After all the work I made a cup of coffee and got a oatmeal raisin cookie and sat outside on the Fords ole swing for a rest period.

Rest period over I then put a Garlin across the top of the swing. This Garlin is battery powered and it has flashing lights on it that come on automatically. I usually watch a fox news program at 4:00pm but sitting outside I don’t have a TV, so I listen using my phone and some ear buds.

Not sure what I will do today other than getting the kids to school safe and on time, I might get my hair cut and I could stop at the teller machine and get my weekly stipend.

Wow, molly was laying on my desk and suddenly we received a heavy down poor of rain and it could be heard in my little office, she jumped off the desk as if she was scared. It only took a couple seconds and the drive way was totally wet. I may need to take an umbrella with me this morning, I still need to put the recycle bin out before going to get the kids. Now I hear some thunder so both Molly and Tres will be wanting to stay close as they don’t like thunder.

Well, I need to stop and get going. Wow that sounded odd, “stop and get going”? aren’t they the opposite, I guess I can stop and start up again. Tres just came and got under the desk. We hope everyone has a safe and good day, maybe someone will be nice to you today.

            It is another cold good morning her at the Ford Homestead, I will need a coat when I take the kids to school this morning.

            Speaking of cold, last night after the bible study meeting when I got into the Ford’s ole Chevy and started the motor, the heater was blowing warm air. I find that interesting as the vehicle had sat outside for 2 hours and the motor had not yet cooled down. How long does it take for a motor to cool down.

            We did very little yesterday, my favorite wife did go to the doctor for her annual physical and after that I drove her to a store. She went inside and I stayed in the vehicle, for over an hour. Heck I even took a nap waiting on her to come out of the store.

            This morning when the Tres went out front to get a breath of fresh air, we found a box on the front porch, that had been delivered after dark last night. We knew the box was coming as it is a Christmas present for Alex. I had brought the two-wheel carrier from the shed yesterday so I could carry the heavy item when it arrived. Alex wanted two 45-pound barbell weights that have a rubber coating on them, so they have less of a chance of damaging the floor. Yes, he has a barbell set and bench, this just adds to it. A 90-pound package is difficult for an ole senior person to handle, but I did get it into the garage, I want to see my favorite wife wrap the 90-pound package and put it under the tree.             Before that one person comments, yes that carrier has 4 wheels, it is a convertible, but since I was only using the two wheels, that is why I referred to it as a two-wheeler.

            I have offered my wife the opportunity to go have breakfast this morning at the Georges, but if we don’t then I will go get my hair cut.

            I would like to get all the stuff out of the garage today and back into the shed as it is predicted to be rainy tomorrow. Who knows if it will rain or not, we need it bad so it will probably pass us by.

           I guess that is all for now, have a good day, be safe and say something nice to someone today.
