Let’s discuss work since it is labor day weekend, or maybe I will present my opinions, and you can read them or ignore them.
Probably the main reason for having a job is income and benefits. Everyone needs to have income as we need to pay the bills, and hopefully have a little left over to set aside for unforeseen needs (aka emergencies). Jobs that provide benefits such as insurance, vacations, personal time off, and possibly annual bonus, are highly sought after.
It does not make any difference which job you have; you should make every effort to help that business prosper.
The person/s in charge is the boss, you do not have to like him / her, you do need to respect them.
You are a positive influence when you, “work in a highly productive manner”, when you “keep safety in mind at all times”, when you “help others”.
Do present suggestions!
If you have a suggestion, and you understand that the person you will present it to, is sometimes not receptive to new ideas or suggestions, try the following.
Write the suggestion on a 3 X 5 card, and take the card with you to the person in charge. Make your verbal presentation in this manner; I have been thinking about something, but I am not sure it is workable. I was hoping I could get you to consider it, and let me know later what you think. Then verbally present your idea, give the person the 3 X5 card, and say thanks for considering this.
As you can see, your idea is presented. You have made the other person feel important, asking for their consideration, you present the 3 X 5 card which helps assure that the idea may not be forgotten, you have given them time to consider and get back to you, with their opinion.
In short you make the other person feel important, because they believe, you respect their consideration.
You may be a leader and not show it. You may know all the procedures; you may be a safe and productive employee, but if you are not positive in your actions or comments, you will likely not be considered for leadership positions. Take time to review your actions, comments, and thoughts, evaluate yourself, you may be surprised.
