November 5, 2024

Good morning to all, we did get some rain last night and I thought we might have received a lot more them we did. listening to the wind and rain during the night I assumed we had more than an inch but when I checked the ole free rain gage this morning, we only receive ¾ inch. Now ¾ inch is better than nothing. I would like to see a couple days of slow easy rain to help get the ground and all the plants back to normal.

Yesterday was a little odd for us, we, being my wife and I, decided to go into Waco and see if we could find some masa. Now masa is what is used in making tamales. My favorite wife wanted the premixed masa but the store where she use to get it did not have it, so we decided to find a Mexican store to see if they had it.

I drove to a location where I thought they had a Mexican store but there was not a store there. I then decided to drive down Waco Drive and we found a large Mexican store. We went in and I asked the lady at the cash register if they had masa. She did not speak English. She called another lady over and this lady spoke both English and Spanish. They pointed out the masa and it was what my favorite wife wanted. We got three packages and paid for them. Each package cost $4.50 and the lady put them in sacks. I picked up the sack and we headed for home.

On the way home we decided to stop at the chicken place and get some chicken to take home with us for lunch. When we arrived at home, I learned that there were only 2 packages of masa in the sack, we left the third package at the store. After eating my lunch, I went back into Waco to get the third package of masa. I walked into the store and they were busy, evidently, they also serve lunch in the store as there was several people entering and leaving but not carrying bags of groceries. When the lady had a break from the cash register, she looked at me and pointed at the bag which I had left there with one package of masa in it, I picked it up and headed for home.

Back at home I did very little for the rest of the day. My favorite wife and I did sit out on the front porch for a while enjoying the breezy weather and at some point, I needed to get ready for bible study. Now they were predicting the possibility of some severe storms and I did not want to go if there was going to be severe storms. I did get ready and I headed out. A couple blocks from the house I learned I did not have my drink with me and since we were to have pizza prior to the start of the study I needed to take my drink. I turned the old Ford’s Chevy around and went home to get the drink. Then I again head out to the church. I arrived at the church and it was raining. Now were I park is near the door where we come out after the meeting, but we cannot go in through that door as it is an emergency exit. I would need to walk to the main door which was not close to where I park and I thought, “I will get wet in this rain’. I stay there a few minutes and then decide to head for home.

Back at home I found something to eat for supper and that was my day.

Today I again have no real plans to do anything, it is supposed to clear off this afternoon so I might go out and pick up any sticks that may have fallen out of the trees due to the heavy winds.

I did again get up early this morning as I have not yet adapted to the time change. I do need to get the Alex and take him to school this morning. I did learn that the freshmen have their last foot ball game this week and it will be on Wednesday instead of Thursday.

Today is voting day, we hope the right person gets in as president.

Have a good day, stay safe in all you do, and as always be nice to ole people.

President?

Senior ole person who don’t need to get going, Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow!
