The date in the title line is Sunday but the comments are from Saturday.
It rained again here in Hewitt Texas, we received about ¾ inch of rain. I should note that there is no standing water as the ground is still quickly absorbing all the rain. Although they have not been talking about a drought of late, on the TV, we are still behind in rain fall some half foot.
Yesterday afternoon was somewhat interesting in that we had a tornado warning on the TV. The sirens were going off and they were telling residents of Hewitt and surrounding areas to take cover. Hearing the warning I immediately went outside to look for said tornado. You know we can’t trust the media to report things correctly!
I walked down the walkway from the homestead to the street, and what did I see! There was four neighbors out in the street looking for said tornado. After viewing the sky and then talking with the neighbors I returned to the Homestead and secured a walkie talkie. The storm spotters (Hams) were on the air looking for and reporting weather conditions. I listened until they decided that the bad weather had passed our area.
My present spouse and I were invited to a neighbor’s home for supper Saturday night. This neighbor, knowing our kitchen was totally out of commission, was nice enough to invite us for a free meal. We had a good time gossiping, and the food was very good! It is nice to have friends.
Changing the subject, I have determined what the original reason for the live wire was. This wire was attached to the outlet near the ole stove top. There was a range hood over the stove top. I believe someone was going to get the power for the range hood using this wire, it was the correct length. I believe another someone dropped a wire from the attic down through the wall for the range hood. Now there were two wires, one hood. They used the wire from the attic and someone decided that they were not going to remove the other wire. Some brilliant north end of a south bound horse, nailed this hot wire to the 2X4 and the wall was covered with sheet rock. 40 years later it was discovered.
There are still north ends of a south bound horses!
