Duo creation 01.16.18

Duo creation is in reference to those unusual creations that are made by a dog and his human. Now I am hoping you know the dog is, “The Tres”, and the human is, “The Senior Ford”.
In the past, this Duo has created several desk top pen holders. They have been valued above $200.00 each, and the on line sales have been very brisk.
Today we had a third Ford, “Mr. Alex”, involved in the forming of these unique articles.
Alex wanted to know how these are made, so I explained that Tres first picks out the piece, then he brings it from the wood pile up to the fence where he, over a several day period, removes the bark from the wood. Then I retrieve the item, and add varnish which seals the piece. I then drill a hole or holes that allow for pens to be kept. These pieces are so unique, each being one of a kind, that they bring hundreds of dollars when offered to the bidding public.
Alex helped by varnishing for me. He picked one that he wanted for his own desk. Alex decided where he wanted the pen holes to be and I drilled them in. He then sealed the unit with a varnish and took it home with him. Sorry no photo.
I did take a photo of a very unique piece, it still has some bark on it, which makes it appear rugged and manly, and is valued at $400.00.

This single pen holder is one of the most unique pieces that the Tres and I have made. Before you ask, there is a friends and family discount! Click on the photo to see an enlargement of this unique item!

Changing the subject to weather, I am writing this on Monday afternoon and we still have fair weather but they say the rain is coming, then freezing rain, then sleet, and then snow. The photo below, was taken prior to the freezing rain, sleet, and ice event, and I will get a photo from the same location, showing the accumulation of winter precipitation!

                Tuesday Morning:
It is now Tuesday morning, and the photo above is what one would see this morning, except for the trash can and the 4 bags of leaves. I moved the trash can after the trash collector emptied it. They did not take our bags. L  I had to carry the bags back away from the street.
No ice and no snow here at the Ford Homestead.
They did cancel all the schools due to the prognosticators warnings of winter weather. It is cold and will stay cold for the next week or longer, not getting above freezing today.

May your so-call weather people, get it right!

Don Ford
