July 19, 2025

It appears to be a good morning here in Hewitt TX. We hope you're having a good morning or a good day whichever time you read this.

Allow me to explain a few other things that occurred yesterday. Alex did consent to mow our yard, so I went and picked him up. He and I stopped at the star coffee place, and both procured a drink and then headed for the Ford homestead.

Arriving home we immediately went out and started work, I picked up the dog droppings out of the yard while Alex was starting to trim with the string trimmer. When I finished my part of the work I went into the house and as I was sitting at my desk, I noticed that Alex was getting the riding lawn mower out. I saw him looking at it and walking around examining it, so I thought there must be something wrong and I went out to see what was happening. The riding lawn mower would not start. Alex assumed that maybe a squirrel had gotten under it and chewed on one of the wires. We looked at it but could not find the problem, so Alex took the walk behind mower and mowed the entire backyard.

Alex got some exercise from walking and mowing the backyard, it only took a little while longer using the walk behind than riding more and the yard really looks nice. All the work completed I paid Alex, and we started for home, but we decided that he might want to get something to eat so we went by the chicken place and got him a chicken meal to take home with him.

Back at home I was trying to rest but for some reason I wasn't restful. I decided to go out and see if I could do anything with that mower. I had earlier checked the voltage on the battery, and it seemed to be OK, so I assumed the battery was OK. I got down on the ground and looked close for wires and then I decided to jump start the battery. I got my Halo, connected it to it and it started right up, so, yep it was the battery. I removed the battery from the mower and after checking it I found that the water in the battery was almost completely gone. I will add some distilled water to the battery today and then see if it will recharge. If not, I will have to buy a new battery.

My favorite wife and I sat outside yesterday afternoon. It was hot but we had the fans on to keep us a little cooler. No neighbors came by to visit us so it was just a quiet restful time.

Plans for today our son Patrick and his wife Karla are supposed to come to our house, and David Claire Alex and Gabi are supposed to come over, we'll all go out to lunch and hopefully have some interesting conversations. This will be a celebration for my favorite wife's birthday.

I'm going to stop for now. We hope you have a good day. Please stay safe and all you do and be nice to somebody.

Check the battery?

Don the Ford
May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.
