October 15, 2022

It is Saturday, and again ole people have little or nothing to do. I am going to go over to Dave’s house and help with some tree trimming, but I am not sure what time I am supposed to be there.

Tres wants to go for a walk, I have not yet agreed to that. Yesterday during the walk, I observed the spoon was still near the mail box. Maybe I need to look near my mail box and see if there is a spoon close to it.

I do need to go into Waco today, in order to procure a bottle. I hope I have enough money for this purchase.

As you might know, my favorite wife and I sit outside most evenings, and yesterday evening we got a call from a friend asking if we were going to sit out. This person said she would get some cheese sticks and potato skins and bring them over. She did as she said and they were good. Also, another neighbor came over, and we had even more fun conversations, yes, there was some refreshing beverages available.

I need to see if I am able to walk with the Tres, maybe my ole body can make it up and down the street.

We hope you have a good day, be safe.

Well, we are at Fry day again, (did you pick up on the Fry day comment)? Why do I even try?

Let’s see if I can write something that might be interesting or at least understandable. Yesterday, I became aware of how blue the sky was. Now I know the sky is blue, but I did not see a cloud anywhere. I was driving and every time I stopped, I looked around, and there were no clouds to be seem. Maybe that is an indication of rain?

I was able to get my hair trimmed yesterday, and it cost the same as a haircut. After spending money at the hair shop, I went to the bank to get our weekly $5.00 stipend. I have noticed that the stipend doesn’t last too long now that the prices of everything is going up.  I had lunch with my wife and some friends yesterday, we discussed everything. It was a good time and good food.

My wife’s van is making an odd clicking noise when you go out and open the door. It doesn’t’ happen every time the door opens, it seems to happen after the vehicle has set for a while. We open the door and a few seconds later there is a clicking sound that comes from the dash near the steering wheel. I have an appointment with the mechanic next week.

It seems as if Alex isn’t feeling too good today, he will be here at the homestead until his dad gets off work.

I need to water the potted plants in the front yard, and I would like to wash the Ford’s ole Chevy today if time allows. So, I guess I will get off here and start doing things, hope your day is excellent!

October 12, 2022

Well, it is dark thirty and I am not getting out to walk until I can see what is around me. Tres and I did go out and get the news paper this morning and we heard a dog barking unusually loud, and from an area where we do not normally hear dogs, so I asked Tres to get the paper and we went in the house. I did look back and observed a female person with a flash light out walking in the dark.

I did not do much yesterday; I did pick up some sticks and other debris out of both yards. There are leaves falling from the pecan trees and they are sticky like glue. These leaves have been dripping some kind of sap for several weeks and the leave stick to my feet and to Tres, then we unknowingly bring them into the homestead and get, “chewed out”, by my favorite wife.

I have considered what would happen if I got the ole lawn mower out and tried to mulch these leaves, would they clog the mower up, since they are sticky? I think if we were to get a good rain it would wash the sticky off the leaves and make things better for us all.

Speaking of rain, they are saying we have a chance of rain Sunday and Monday. I will hold off on the mulching until we see if we get a rain.

The fair is in Waco now and they said on TV yesterday, that you could get a ticket for $25.00. Now that would get you into the concert and into the rodeo and you could walk around looking at things that you could spend more money on. Prices were less expensive when I was a kid and went to the fair. Back then, most rides were 10 cents.

I just looked at the cameras, and it is still dark outside. I don’t know if I am required to get a burrito this morning or not, I will go an ask my first wife, be back in a few.

Ok I am back. My present spouse allowed me to go to the coffee place, and to the burrito place, and I am back. I left the homestead at 6:45am, I drove to the Star coffee place and was impressed with the low amount of traffic on the roads. When I pulled into the coffee place, I noticed that there were no vehicles at the pickup window, usually there are several. I then drove around the building and there were no vehicles in line, I got to the back of the building where we place our orders, and there was no one in line. “I was the only car, no one ahead of me!” That has never happened before, I wondered, am I dreaming? Would you believe, I pinched myself to see if I was dreaming, I was not, it happened just that way!

I then proceeded to the burrito place and again, there was no one ahead of me, is this my lucky day? Why did I have it so good this morning? I arrived back at the homestead about 7:05am. Wow about a 20-minute trip to get a coffee and burrito!

Well, I need to see if the Tres wants to go for a walk this morning, so I will call it quits for now, hope your day is lucky and safe.

Recycle day, get it out!

October 10, 2022

We are starting another week and as usual, too much work for an ole senior person. It is not light enough for me and Tres to go out for a short walk, so I am here at the keyboard attempting to enter information for you.

The school is out today due to Columbus Day, and I have a question. They are removing a statue of Columbus from a couple places, so should we also not acknowledge Columbus as having found North America? Maybe the kids should be back in school. Maybe there should not be Columbus Day parades.

Ok, I am back from our walk and this walk was very interesting. For one thing, the spoon is still there. Maybe they do not go to their mailbox very often.

There was a very inspiring situation which occurred during the walk, and it caused me to recall a passage from the bible. "Love your neighbor as yourself".

As the Tres and I were walking, we observed an ole senior man who uses a walker to get around. This ole fellow using the walker, coming from his home down the driveway, he was also trying to push a trash cart, and he was moving very slowly.

A vehicle drove past the ole fellow, then it stopped and backed up, then a female person got out and walked up to the ole fellow, where she took the trash cart and pushed it to the street. I do assume that the lady did not know the ole fellow, and she was being a nice person, it is good to have nice people around!

Alternate topic: after the walk I did go to the coffee place and to the burrito place, I got both, coffee and a burrito. After I ate my burrito, I thought maybe I should make a cup of coffee. Then my ole person brain thought, "what did you do with the coffee you purchased?" I looked around and no coffee in site, I had left my cup of coffee in the Ford's ole Chevy, all alone. I then rushed out to the vehicle where I was able to rescue the cup, and I now have it here with me on the Ford's ole desk. It is still hot but a little lighter, if you get the drift.

Today I need to get the Alex to school at 3:00pm, he has a football game today, and it is a home game. That means I should make it to the Bible study group on time this evening.

Home games: let me tell you what I think about home games. The 7th grade games cost $4.00 per adult, and when we go to away games we pay with cash. The home games we are required to buy the tickets on line, and they are also $4.00 each, but there is an additional $2.30 charge. As I understand it, we can't pay with cash at the gate, I think this is unacceptable!

New topic: I found a rock the other day when I was pulling weeds. This rock is interesting to me as it is black and white, and it has what appears to be flakes of glass in it. I have a photo in case anyone has an idea of what it is. Maybe it is a part of a meteorite? Photo to follow.

Well, it is time for a quick senior person nap, so we hope you have a good day!

Home games cost more!

October 9, 2022

Let us review what happened yesterday. It was a normal day with nothing out of the ordinary. Tres and I went for a walk.

Dave Clair Gabi and Alex came over and had their school photos with them, the grandies were both beautiful and good looking in the school photos! Patrick and Karla arrived; we all went out for lunch. The food was good but the service was a little slow.

Later in the afternoon I was able to get an ole persons nap of at least 15 minutes. at the end of my nap a friend arrived. My favorite wife and our friend were conversing in the front room, so I ventured to the Fords ole office where I then did a little reading for my Bible study group, I even answered a couple of the questions. Wow, ole people can answer questions.

After the study period, I went out to the driveway and arranged a couple chairs. As soon as the shade had provided protection from the sun, I made a cold drink and invited my present wife and her friend to join me outside.

As we enjoyed the afternoon outside along with a cold drink, another neighbor came over with some fish (they were flayed Blue Cat) he gave me two Ziplock bags of fish, and asked if I could give one to our neighbor across the street. I said I would. I then called the neighbor across the street and she came over to get the fish.

When she arrived at the Ford’s homestead, my first wife invited her to sit, talk, and have a cold drink, which she did. As we sat there sharing thoughts about most everything, we observed another female subject walking down the street toward our group meeting, yep, it was another friend and I found another chair for this person.

As we were conversating (and that is a real word) our neighbor again came over with another zip lock bag, this time he had crappie flays, they went directly into the refrigerator. Good neighbors bring good food. After a few conversations, the last arriving guest departed saying, she needed to finish her walk.

Then Patrick and Karla again arrived at the homestead, they were getting ready to head for their home and wanted to procure some black berries to take to a friend. Black berries were removed from the freezer, and goodbyes were again shared, they headed for their home.

At about 6:00 pm I excused myself and went into the ford’s ole office where I watched a couple three stooges shows. My lovely wife and a couple friends continued discussing various topics for a while longer.

Now you see how our Saturday went, maybe Sunday will be just as nice.

I do have a photo of an acorn, we are getting a lot of them falling and the squirrels are eating a lot of them, they leave the chewed-up shells on the walkway, and I have to sweep them off.

We hope you have a good day!

October 8, 2022

Today subject is spooning! It seems to me that in the olden days the term spooning meant something, but my ole senior brain refuses to assume that the term still means the same now days. I guess you could say that the Don is spooning right now. I have a bowl of cereal and I am using a spoon to eat the cereal, so that is spooning.

There is another method of spooning that I have indulged in this morning. Yep, the Tres and I did go for a walk, after it got light enough to see, and as we walked, I became a spooner.

Now before you come up with any odd thoughts about me spooning, my favorite wife does have access to this blog posting, and she does read them. So, my spooning is not a secret.

Now I will enlighten you, and the rest of the reading public, as to my spooning experience. As the Tres and I walked, I observed a spoon laying near the curb in the street. I walked past it at first, but then returned and picked it up. It was not damaged; it had not been run over, so I assumed it had not been there too long.

I started to walk away with the spoon, you know, “Finders keepers, losers’ weepers,” but then it came to me that it was part of a set and it had probably fallen out of a car after a child had used it. I then decided to place it near the mail box, which I believe would allow the owner of the house to find it and put it back with the rest of the set.

You are right, I am a good person, sometimes.

Swap of the topic: Patrick and Karla are coming up today as it is Karla’s dad’s 81st birthday. We assume that David, Claire, Gabi, and Alex, will come over also today. There is the possibility of lunch with the Fords!

Well, I guess that is it for today, hope you have a nice day!

October 7, 2022

Yesterday I just sat around doing nothing again. Well, I did get on my knees in the front yard yesterday, after praying, I then pulled weeds from the newest Jasmine bed. I did successfully get the grand kids from school and take them home. My favorite wife and I did go out for some Turkey and dressing for supper. After supper we sat outside for a while enjoying the weather and solving all kinds of national problems.

There was an incident yesterday which started at the concert that Alex was in. When we arrived at the concert I turned my somewhat smart phone to mute, no sound if the phone was to ring. Yep, I failed to turn the sound back on. David tried to call me, and I did not know he called. Oddly enough, he tried to call the home phone and the phone in the front room had a dead battery, so I did not know he called.

Failing to contact me, he called his mother who was out shopping, and she was able to get him from work and take him home. I have decided to not mute the phone in the future, I will instead set it to vibrate.

I hope to move the trailer from the Ole Fords homestead to the young Fords Homestead this morning. Dave will be cutting a tree down and he can load the excess on the trailer.

I need to remember to water the berry beds and flowerpots today, wow no rest for the ole people. Speaking of plants, I have a photo to share with everyone but you, I know you don’t like my photos, but the others do like them!

It is still dark so I am not walking until I can see who or what is around before Tres, and I head out for a walk.

I am back, I went to get a cup of coffee, and yes, a burrito, both locations had long lines even though it was early. The hot sauce for the burrito is nice and hot today. the burrito and coffee is good, now I need to go for a walk.

Well, that is all for now, have a good day.

October 6, 2022

This ole senior person did nothing yesterday, well, he did get a burrito and a cup of coffee, he did pick up some clothes from the cleaners, and he did get gas in the Ford’s ole Chevy, ($2.99 per gallon), he did pick up both grandkids after school, he did sit outside for a short time in the afternoon, and he did attend Alex’s concert last night.

Speaking of the concert, we have a photo of the group that Alex plays in, he is center of the photo. There were three different groups who played last night, and they were all good. You might notice that there are a lot of girls in the group.

I do have another photo, this photo was taken through a window over the kitchen sink, so it isn’t perfect. If one looks closely, you could see a hawk on the ground, and he has a bird. He first pulled all the feathers out of the bird, and then he decided to eat it. Later, after the hawk had left, I went out to pick up any leftovers, as I knew Tres would eat them, and there were only feathers on the ground. The hawk either eat it all or, took some with him.

It is now day light outside so Tres wants to take me for a walk, so I got to go! We hope you have a wonder filled day and stay safe!
