It rained 04/09/2021

We had a storm last evening, and it started just after we got home from the cracker food place. The rain started in a lite fashion and grew to a very heavy downpour. Yes, there was hail in this event, it was small possibly dime size. We received almost an inch of rain in about 45 minutes.

I had considered getting the lawn mowed today and I was considering turning the sprinkler system off so the grass would be dry enough to mow early in the day. The rain took care of that. I might get to mow the front yard later today, if the next storm system doesn’t happen. Yep, they are predicting the possibility of another stormy afternoon. Mowing the back yard is out, there is water standing in it from the storm. I had planned on watering the black berry gardens yesterday, but the rain kept me from that.

Our neighbor fertilized her yard yesterday. They then ran the sprinkler system to help get the fertilizer into the ground. Then the rain came and again helped get the fertilizer into the ground. This morning their sprinklers are running again, I guess they may have forgot to turn them off, or they really want the fertilizer deep into the ground.

I did some wood butchering yesterday. I am attempting to make a rack providing some shelves for the garage. I did the initial listening to my first wife as to her; I mean our needs for the shelves. I measured the area in which a rack would set, and that was where I made an error.

I then drew up some plans to scale, and recorded my bill of materials. I wanted to use the scrap wood if possible. I then got the chop saw out and did a bunch of adjustments in order to make the first cuts. I basically put in most of the day measuring and cutting the scrap wood.

After butchering the wood, I brought it to the garage and temporarily place some of the parts together, so my spouse of 52 years could get an idea of what it should look like. She looked at it and said it is too big for the area.

I then secured a tape measure and check the amount of room for the rack. My first measurement was incorrect. It was off by 6 inches.

After the tears subsided, that means reduced for that one reader, I began to get out some of the needed tools to correct this error. It wasn’t too bad, I only had to remove the 6 inches from 6 boards. I then stopped for the day.

Tired, almost unable to walk or talk, I drug myself into the homestead, where I was reminded that we were going out for the evening repast. I sprang into action washing some, not all the dirt and dust off me, and putting on some clean clothes.

Photos 04/08/2021

I have a few photos; each photo is said to be worth a thousand words. Let us reduce the expectations, and in this setting say, each photo is worth a few words.

Moon this morning, ditch weeds cut, squirrel stealing bird food.

I have things to do, I can't sit here and enter data all morning, and I need coffee!

If you water the lawn, you will need to mow!

Got some things done 04/07/2021

I did get a few things done yesterday, but I will not bore you with comments like, “I got the bushes all cut down and caried to the trailer”, or, “That I replanted a cactus for my spouse”, or, “That I dug up and replanted a small pecan tree which the squirrels had planted”, so instead of filling my blog with that kind of topics, I will try not bore you, and not make any of those comments.

Let’s see if I can move to a different subject. Allow me to comment on the virus.

As I see it, I have not been thinking about the virus very much lately. Yes, we have had our shots, but I do not think that is why I am not thinking about the virus.

I have observed, that the so-called TV news has not been reporting on, or showing videos of deaths due to virus. Since they are not continually telling us that people are passing away due to the virus, and not talking about needing ventilators, instead they are talking about giving away money, we are less likely to think about virus. I don’t want to be thinking about the virus, but I don’t want anyone to get the virus.

I am not changing the topic, I don’t want to bug you with a comment like, “I may cut the weeds in the ditch behind the Homestead today, before I go to pick up Alex from school”. I do have a photo of the flower that I had shown earlier, the flower is now in bloom!

Be quiet and listen 04/06/2021

As the reading public should know, I do pick the grand kids up from school in the afternoon. I would like to say, “Yesterday was interesting!”

As usual I had gone to Alex’s school and waited in line for the school to get out. He came out in his usual cheerful spirit, and as usual his first question was, “Did dad call” to which I replied, “No”. That no response means, Alex and I would go and get in line waiting on Gabi to get out of school. This wait in line is about one hour.

Shortly after getting in line Alex began to tell me about a game he played at home on the computer. He started explaining and then stopped. He looked at me and said, don’t tell me your stories, I want to tell you mine.

Now I took that to mean, when he tells me something he has done, I have a tendency to tell him something I have done. Talking about computer games, I don’t have much of a response since I don’t play them, but if he talks about the boy scouts, then I do have stories I can tell.

I listened and asked questions, not interrupting his explanation of the game. We both enjoyed his presentation.

Topic change; I may be allowed to build some shelves in the Ford’s ole garage. These would not be the type you hang on the wall; we have those already, these would be heavy duty, able to hold all the junk, I mean great items we have. Yep they will likely be built from scrap lumber.

But, before I can have fun with the scrap lumber project, I need to remove some dead stuff from the back yard. These limbs will go on the trailer and the items already on the trailer will need to be positioned properly for easy unloading.

My sprinklers ran this morning and the grass is growing. I guess I will need to mow both front and back yards again this week.

Well, it is here 04/05/2021

If you are asking, what is here, then you either haven’t been reading my wonderfully informative postings, or, you can’t recall what you have read. Either way, what is here is, “The 52nd anniversary of my first wife and my wedding day”, which occurred in 1969. Back then the number 69 often had more than one meaning.

When I got up this morning there was a anniversary card next to my chair. I looked at the envelope and it was exactly the same size and color as the envelope of the card I had gotten for my spouse. I thought, what if we got the same card. The cards were different.

We had a good Easter; our family was here and we all enjoyed good food and lots of discussions. The grand kids have grown passed easter egg hunting, but Granny gave them some eggs that were filled with confetti. They were breaking them on anyone who went into the back yard. Tres was trying to eat the egg shells.

Now that easter is over, I guess my favorite wife will be pulling the Easter decorations from the yard, and I will have to find a place for them in the shed. We need two sheds, one for the decoration junk stuff, and one for my stuff.

I have a photo of a flower that is growing behind the #2 black berry garden and next to the Ford’s ole shed. My present spouse calls them surprise lilies. They are usually a surprise when they open up.

For the one person who can see the water droplets on some of the leaves, it had not reined. I was allowed to go out and water some of the plants.

May your day have much kindness in it!

I went to town 04/03/2021

Well, it all started when I was mowing the front yard. As usual, at the beginning of the mowing season, our front yard had many new trees, and they are attempting to take over. These trees are mostly planted by the squirrel population, although the human population also helps plant these trees.

The squirrels take the acorns and dig a hole and hide the acorn for food later, but they do not find all these hidden acorns, and trees start growing. The human population have a tendency to step on the acorns pushing them into the ground.

Mowing will knock the top off the new trees but they come back. I usually end up pulling them out of the ground. I have found over the years, that pulling by hand often breaks the baby trees and the root is still there. If I use a plier and get a grip close to the ground, I often get the root.

I wanted to see if I could get a longer plier which could reduce the amount of bending over to get the baby trees. I bought a set of pliers that are about 18 inches long and they work.

Now that I have the tool, I have no excuse to not work.

Speaking of work, it seems as if I will be cutting down the bushes at the back of the house, they are totally dead. That is a lot more work.

Work hard and get tired!

Biblical thought 04/02/2021

Mark 9:23      All things are possible, to him who believes!

The statement came from the American standard bible. Most people, even those who go to church on a regular basis, do not believe that statement. I have a tendency to consider things probably in different ways from most folks. In this article I present some thoughts that milled around in my mine.

Could it be part of our DNA, that if we truly believe, we could move a mountain?

In the bible we see where God said, “Let us make man in our own image. According to our likeness…”. Man being made in God’s image could also mean, man has built in to his DNA, the ability through belief or faith, to make all things possible.

Consider, how much Belief, also known as Faith, does it take to move a mountain! If one could conjure up enough faith to move a mountain, one could make anything happen!

As we consider the statement, most of us are thinking, no one can have that much faith. We just provided the negative attitudebelieffaith, to keep the mountain from moving.

If we could reverse that, “Cannot do thought, belief, faith,” to be equally as positive as we are negative, all things would be possible!

It seems as if we have total faith that all things are not possible! How do we reverse that faith to, All things are possible, to him who believes”?

                                          How do we do that?

Yellow rain 04/01/2021

Well, this is the first time I have posted anything this month! Yep, it is a different month, and for those of us who are almost able to read, this month is known as April, and today is one of my favorite holidays!

As we get started in this soon to be non-exciting, and very low interest article, I would like to show a photo of a topic from one of last month’s postings. In all actuality, it was last month and it was yesterday, they are both the same.

No one asked about the yellow rain comment from last month, so I decided to photograph a small pile of the yellow crap rain, which the wind has created at the Ford’s ole garage door.

Now I am sure that at least one of you in the reading public may be observant enough to notice, “this pile is more orange, or maybe a rust color, and not yellow”. If someone actually cared they might ask, “Why is it not yellow”, to which someone would reply, “Because it turns a darker color when it lays around on the ground for a while”.

            Please allow this ole senior retired person to alter the topic;

They are now talking about having a vaccination passport, and they are saying one would need to present it to access various venues. So, if you want to get on a plane you show the vaccination passport, to go into a restaurant or store you would show the vaccination passport aka ID.

As I see it, this is another step (we are already using IDs such as drivers license, state IDs, school IDs, and most everyone has a debit or credit card) in the process of getting everyone ready for the Mark of the Beast. They get us use to having an ID and showing it everywhere we go, then it will be easier to convince us to have an ID (chip inserted in your hand or forehead) the consists of 18 digits (6 digits, 6 digits, 6 digits).

Look how crazy every thing is now, do you think it will get better?

*          *          *          *          *          *          *          *

The holiday that you did not ask about, is only for a few of us non-real people. It is April Fool’s Day! Nope, I am not inviting you to join the rest of us…

I took the grand kids to school this morning and as usual the traffic was almost overwhelming. Being the outstanding driver that I am, I was able to get them both to school before their class started.

May your thoughts be positive!
