Another day… 12/09/2020

As the title line states, it is, "Another day", but what day is it? In the olden days (in this case, olden days was a year ago) we here at the Ford Homestead had somewhat of a schedule, and the schedule helped me understand what day it is. There were days that we regularly went to the grocery store, or possibly mowed the yard, we would go out to eat on certain days and with those events we knew what day it was. Now days, I have to look at the calendar, or look at the somewhat smart phone to know what day it is.

Part of my regular schedule was happy time, that has changed, heck sitting inside the house with a cold drink is not fun. There were certain so-called news programs that I daily watched, now they just irritate me, so I turn them off. I would regularly watch TV in our bed room after supper, last evening I went into the bed room and didn't even turn the TV on. Actually, it wasn't bad, I enjoyed thinking about things and sleep came easily. 😊

Yesterday I talked with a neighbor and the subject of leaves in the yards came up. I noted that I have vacuumed my yard 4 or 5 times. The neighbor said that he was going to do his yard one time. I didn't tell him, vacuuming the yard keeps me busy, and it provides some exercised.

Christmas this year, isn't even close to what it had been in the past. Heck, my spouse only put up three trees this year. 😊

Topic change; yesterday I started a scrap wood project, and I messed a part of it up, but instead of throwing things, I just stopped the project and put things away. I was not happy, but I did not blow up! 😐 Maybe, just maybe I will start it again today.

We were supposed to get a package delivered yesterday; it did not come. I stayed home all day as the package is heavy and big, I want to be here when they deliver it, so it could be taken to the garage. I tried to track it this morning but no luck, the site just said it should be delivered December 8th. I think that was yesterday. Now, do I stay home again today, I do need to go to the Wal store for a couple items.

It is supposed to get close to 80 degrees here today, Tres needs a wash job.

80 + Tres, that sounds wet to me.

Mask not, and ye will get sick!

Stair way to 12/08/2020

Before we get into today’s topic, please allow me to make a couple comments. Yesterday morning I was required to go to town and get a heat lamp. Do you know what a heat lamp bulb cost, well I do, and let me tell you, it took all our savings to purchase said lamp, “$10.00”!

I thought the above was bad, then my favorite spouse of more than 50 years went to the $1.00 store. We can’t afford to go to the stores that real people go to, and when she returned home, she said the check engine light is on. I went to the local parts store, “O’Reilly’s, where they checked the computer for free. The vehicle needed a new battery, they installed it for me. We will not be able to eat food here at the Homestead for two months. The old battery was 4 years old.

My scrap wood project is done, and I don’t know what it is! I have been referring to it as the Stair way to, but I don’t know where to “what”. It isn’t a stair step, maybe you can identify it.

I guess it could display something, as seen in the above photo, maybe a flower. It is 16 inches tall at its highest point. I have another photo to consider.

As one can see, there are storage areas inside the scrap wood project.

New thought; I have an idea to make some saw horses from scrap wood, and two cat houses, one for Charlie and one for Molly. (Did cat house have a different meaning in the olden days?)

I did reposition the bird feeder in the back 40, and filled it with bird seeds, but haven’t seen any birds eating their yet. If you build it, they will come!

Words, what? 12/07/20

This morning, when I had the so-called news on TV, obviously, I had nothing on my mind, a thought from the past came to me. Should I make a, B line to the kitchen for a cup of coffee? Now I know a, B line means getting to some place quickly as in, "He made a B line to...".

What is a b line? A B line refers to the direction in which a bee flies, after gathering nectar. Bees use the sun to navigate their way around and when they are ready to return to the hive they fly in a straight line back. This is why when someone is trying to get to their destination quickly they are said to be "making a B line".

I did get the cup of coffee, but I used an S line, you know, the walls were in the way!

We shall now swap topics; I have thought about the word, "At". Hopefully you know how to read the word at, and I find it interesting how it sounds. At, if you put another letter in front of it you can get, "bat, cat, fat, mat, sat, eat! Wow, wait a minute, why does eat sound different, it has at, in it?

They should always come to me before making a word!

Topic swap; this morning as the Tres and I were outside getting the so-called newspaper, there was a photo of this senior retired person. In the photo, you may be able to see some Christmas decorations, and that the senior retired person had his Christmas tie on! I know you always appreciate seeing such a hansom senior retired person who needs a haircut.

Who takes these photos, he must be a professional photographer! 😊

I usually try to tell you to stay safe, where the mask, wash your hands. I am not doing that today; you should know to be safe!

Try some clam chowder, it is good!

What's going on 12/06/20

Lets see, there must be something going on at the Ford homestead. Lets attempt to inform you, the only reader who can see this posting, with photos.

I have been working on a scrap wood project.

My favorite wife has been making cookies and candy for Christmas.

Tres has been watching one of the Christmas trees.

The decorations come on at night as seen in the security cameras above.

The mask states, “Don’t stand so close to me”!

Thank before you act, stay safe!

December 4th 2020

An actual Christmas star? An astronomer at Rice University, told Forbes, “You’d have to go all the way back to just before dawn on March 4, 1226, to see a closer alignment between these objects visible in the night sky.” Forbes notes that some believe that the “Star of Bethlehem” in the story of the “Three wise Men” could have been a rare triple conjunction of Jupiter, Saturn and Venus.

The planets will appear low in the western sky for about an hour after sunset. They’ll be closest on December 21, 2020, but you can see them each evening that week, and it will be bright enough to be seen, even during twilight. All you need is an unobstructed view to the southwest. To see it, look to the southwest about 45 minutes after sunset.

            Subject change:

Since all we hear on the so-called news is about the virus, I guess that is why it was on my mind again when I woke up this morning. Let me suggest that you stop reading this post now.

What if, this virus was intentionally turned lose on the planet, not by humans, but by a higher power.

What if the reason was to intentionally eliminate the week, sick, and diseased?

What if for some reason, having only the strong and fit people alive, was the reason for this virus, also known as, “Survival of the fittest”?

What if there is something coming in the future, some type disaster, where the human population will be fighting for something to eat. A disaster would require humans to be strong and physically fit, how many would survive?

What if this disaster came in the form of an asteroid, which after impacting the earth, caused a chain reaction of earth quakes?

What if the earth quakes caused volcanos, like the Yellow Stone volcano, worldwide to erupt?

What if the sun was blocked for 7 years, causing plant life to parish?

            What if?

I told you to stop reading! Negative thoughts, or prediction, who knows?

Share your positive thoughts!

December 3, 2020

How did you like that title line? Wow, one does not need to think to create a title line anymore.

Today, this posting is just for you. No one else can read it, and it is totally confidential between you and me. As I was doing little or nothing yesterday, when I say little or nothing Tres and I did go for a walk, and I did work on the scrap wood project a little, it came to me, “I should make this posting for you alone! Would you believe, I have found a way to post articles that only you can read. It is so neat to be super confidential, having only you be able to see and read this posting, I should have thought of it sooner!

I might be able to make some money with this process, if I am able to patten the process. Surely, if anyone else knew how to do this, it would have been on the news!

I want to call the process, “Ford and You”.

I assume you want to know how this works. I need to keep the process confidential until I get a patten, but I can tell you that it is based on the email address. Others can go to the blog and see a posting, but this part of the posting is for you only. Yes, others may also have private parts to this posting which only they can see.

Will I be a rich retired person in the future?

Tres and I were walking yesterday when we heard someone in a small building in their back yard playing a set of drums. It must have been the first time that Tres had heard drums, he kept stopping and looking in the direction of the drum sounds.

I worked on the scrap wood project yesterday, and I learned that I needed to get back to the drawing board. This time I worked with a scale drawing. My first rough drawing gave me a good idea of what I was going to do, but I soon realized that I needed some very accurate measurements. Now I need to cut a couple boards (cut them down to proper size) and create two more boards. The hardest part is getting the saw out.

Did you enjoy reading alone?

Something to do 12/02/20

My mind was actually working a little this morning, and I came up with another scrap wood project. I do enjoy drawing the new project on paper and putting together a bill of materials. Heck, the planning is at least half the fun of any project, at least it is that way for me.

Now I have a message for you.

A few weeks back, this senior person was allowed to wash the dishes, and a couple pots too. One of the pots has an off-white interior. In this particular pot there has been some stains in the bottom. I had thought these stains were permanent, as each time I had washed the pot, those stains did not come off. Heck we had even tried soaking the pot.

The last time I was allowed to wash this pot, I used a yellow sponge type thing, it looks like a smiley face. I thought to myself, those stains should come off. I used some elbow grease and after several minutes of severe scrubbing, the stains began to come off. Now it took several minutes, and I was able to remove all the stains. The pot looked new! I carried the pot to my wife and showed her. She asked how I did it, and I explained what I used, and that it was hard work. My favorite wife did not say the magic words, “Thank You”!

The point to the above essay, the magic words, please and thank you should be used, even when talking to a family member. Everyone you know, will value being appreciated! Treat others, even family members, the way you would like to be treated, or, the way they would like to be treated!

Today’s lesson is now concluded, Thank You for reviewing the above.

November 30th there was a full moon. I have a photo, taken with my phone so it isn’t as good as one, had it been taken with a real camera.

This morning the moon, which is still full, caught my detention, I mean attention. As I stood outside in the cool morning air, I noticed that the leaves on the tree were thick enough to block the moon, but if I moved a few inches, the moon would show through. Photo to follow.

Today is Wednesday and I plan to work a little more on my scrap wood project. What will I do when the scrap wood runs out? Being on a fixed income (unless there are some donations from real people) I guess I will just sit in the ole rocker and rock.

Today, I should begin receiving items that we have ordered for Christmas presents.

Well, I guess that is it for today, I might leave the homestead later and try to get a cup of coffee from that star coffee place. The last three (3) times I had tried to go, there were vehicles in line at the window that wrapped all the way around the building, I went on past all three times. Heck, the reason I go is to get out of the house for a few minutes, their coffee is ok.

Is it ok to drink and drive, if the drink is coffee?

December is here 12/01/20

I guess that title line means, the year is getting close to an end. That being the case, if you would like for these annoying emails to stop, just send me a note saying, "STOP", and you will be removed from the email list, as of December 31st.

If you know someone who is silly enough to want to get on the mail list, have them send me a note saying, "Start".

Changing the topic; I believe that since the election is over, most of the stuff on TV, at least to me, is, "Less than interesting"! Well, that is the way I see it! Being more or less confined to the Homestead, has been more or less depressing. Now that there seems to be nothing on the TV that I am interested in, it is more depressing than it was, and the less has gone away.        😊 😐

I need to come up with something to keep me busy. I do like to write, but my hand writing isn't worth a darn, I do like to enter data into the computer, that is my way of writing. Maybe I need to come up with another story to write, or maybe I could add on to the story I wrote, about the beginning of time.  Something for me to consider.

I did receive a package from my Nephew yesterday. My nephew is 73 years old, he has a PHD., I guess that makes him smart. He sent me an ole Bible that was my mothers, which she had received as a gift in 1973. When Mom passed, the Bible was given to my sister, now I have it. My mom, like me, had a tendency to write in or mark items in the bible.

The front yard was vacuumed yesterday, someone, possibly me, did the vacuuming. It was cold yesterday, but the Tres and I went for a walk. Then we went to the vet and the vet charged us, an arm and leg, to tell us that Tres' ears, are now ok.

I have ordered items for Christmas presents, and they are supposed to start arriving this week. We will need to find places to put these items, and my favorite spouse will need to do the wrapping.

We were supposed to have freezing temperatures last night, I had the heat lamp turned on in the Ford's ole hot house. The Ford's ole hot house is hot when the sun shines on it, and it is warm with the heat lamp on.

Side note; I Have brought my computer from the so-called office, into the Fords ole front room. Not being confined to the Ford's ole office, makes the virus confinement a little less stressful. It is kind of nice to sit in here, but leaning back in the recliner makes it difficult for this ole senior person to enter data. I do not have control of the TV volume, and I do like to turn the volume down when I am writing.

Social distance is 6 feet, that is two arm lengths!
