November 30, 2024

Hello, are you there? Hello, I can’t hear you, are you there. Well, I guess I will just say good morning and hope someone is there.

I want to start out with a photo of the sky over Hewitt taken this morning, and the sky is not on fire.

Yesterday was another do almost nothing day, we did go into Waco to the cheap store and the one item that I wanted which they advertised was already sold when we arrived. We did get a Christmas ornament for Alex to put on his Christmas tree, it had the Marine emblem on one side and the marine song printed on the other side. We stopped at a grocery store at about 10 minutes before 9:00 and it was not open. I guess they did not have any black Friday deals. We then headed for home.

Back at home I did very little for a while other than a nap, but when I woke up, I went to work, or maybe I just started doing some things. I did go to the shed and get the electric leaf vacuum and brought it to the garage to see if it still worked, it did. I know the leaves will be falling soon due to this cold weather we are having (34 degrees this morning). I did practice by vacuuming the leaves off the driveway.

After my practice session I put the vacuum away and got the pecan roller and picked up some acorns. I got a fair amount, that completed I decided to remove the debris from the front yard. It doesn’t take too much wind to have debris on the front yard. As I was picking up the debris, I noticed a bunch of acorns that I missed earlier. Nope, I did not go back and start over with the acorns.

We did sit outside for a short time yesterday; our friend came over and after a short outside time we ventured into the house. I did have a piece of raisin pie; I think I am the only one in our family who eats raisin pie.

Well, we have nothing planned for the day, my favorite wife is still working on decorating the inside of the house, and she has a few more things for the outside. I think all the electric items have been installed, and yes there are less than years past. I need to start putting all the empty cartons and not used decorations back in the shed, but that is really a lot of work.

I guess I will end this and wish you a safe and happy Saturday, the last day of the month. Wow, that means Christmas is coming.

November 29, 2024

Good morning to all, it is cold here as the temp is at 36 degrees. I believe winter is upon us.

We hope everyone had a good thanksgiving; we enjoyed ours at Daves house. There were 13 people present and that did make it a close encounter with lots of lively conversations. I don't think the cats liked the number of people, as they all went into a bedroom and hid. The food was good and there was plenty of it. I have a photo of some of the people who were eating.

The younger participants were in the front room and one of them, "Alex", took this photo. The food and friends were all good, the temperature outside was too cool

My favorite wife and I are going into Waco this morning to see if we can get a Black Friday deal at the cheap store. If we are supposed to have it then it will be available, if not, then we save some money.

Our son Patrick helped me get another of my two emails on my phone. Now I can receive both emails on the phone, and I like that.

Well, I am stopping and getting ready to go into town, we hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

Black Friday! 😊😐☹

November 27, 2024

We wish you a good morning and a happy good day! Wow, that was almost like a song, or was it.

Today is the day before, and everyone is trying to get ready, or traveling. My favorite wife goes to get groceries on Wednesday, but I don’t know if she will go today or not. I assume the stores will be filled with shoppers, and there will be no parking spaces. If she goes, I will offer to drive her, that way she can be dropped off at the door and I can park a mile away. When she finishes shopping, she can call me and I can pick her up at the door.

Ok, listen up, I have olden days stuff to report: my sister in Missouri sent me a text with a photo saying she has heard that they will be remodeling the old Juden School. Along with the text there is a photo of a group of kids that went to school there in 1942. Two of those kids were my sisters Wilda Ford and Shirley Ford and one of my brothers Carl Ford.

This school has a one room basement and a single room above the basement. I went to school there in 1957 / 1958. The basement had 1st through 4th grades, and the upstairs had 5th through 8th grades. One teacher for 4 grades. The toilets were outhouses out back of the school. When I went to school there our teacher’s name was, “Mr. Hurt”. He was also a preacher. The photo was taken on the side of the school near the back, and I believe you can see the outhouse on the right side of the photo. The school got its name from the creek that was across the road in front of the school, Juden Creek.     Lots of ole memories!

Today I have no big plans, I need to go to the teller machine and get our weekly stipend. I guess that is all I need to say for now, so please have a safe day and be nice to others.

November 26, 2024

Hello to my friends, and to those other people too. We want to wish you and those other people a good morning and safe day.

Yesterday was a very busy day for my favorite wife, she worked on the decorations in the house most of the day, while I did very little other then get in the way. I did take some tables to Daves house in prep for the Thanksgiving meal on Thursday.

Well, it is cool today and it was cool last night when we had the bible study meeting. It was in the 60s and I did not wear a jacket, heck I had a short-sleeved shirt on. I think I may have been the only one without a jacket. Evidently the cool weather made some people stay home or I guess they may have been traveling. We normally have 15 or more in our group, last night we had 5 in our group.

Tomorrow we are supposed to be in the mid 80s and then back down into the 50s and 60s. I guess fall may have fell. I have no big plans for today, I might go into Waco to see if I can get a couple 45-pound bar bell weights for Alex' Christmas present. Yes, he works out at home and at school.

I might work on a couple decorations in the front yard today, but no big plans to work on more decorations, I think we are basically done outside the house. At some point I will be allowed to take the empty cartons and totes back to the shed, more work for a senior ole person.

I guess that is all for today, we hope your day goes well and that everyone stays safe in all we do.

Cold weather.

November 25, 2024

It is a bright and sunny morning here in Hewitt, we wish a good morning to all.

I started this about 8:30 it is now 11:10. My favorite wife had an appointment at the doctor this morning at 9:00 to give some blood in prep for next week’s appointment. Since we were out and about, we decided to go into Waco to get some sweet potatoes for this coming Thanksgiving meal at our son David’s house. I went into the store with my favorite wife and I found a couple one-pound summer sausages to purchase, and we purchased a pecan pie for a snack.

Leaving that store we headed for home but we stopped at the dollar store to get some mints for our dog Tres, he gets a mint every afternoon. We also purchased a small bag of candy incase either of us needs a picker upper.

Leaving the dollar store we headed to the Chicken store and got some lunch. My belly is full and I should be resting but I am entering this data.

This morning started out kind of bad for me and I had some vertigo when I got out of bed. It wasn’t debilitating but it was irritating. I was able to get on the bed and do the head movements which the doctor told me about, and after a few minutes I was able to do most anything, like take a shower.

We have just a couple more things to put outside and then I have to take all the empty boxes back to the shed. My favorite wife is making progress on the decorations inside the house.

I may be able to have a couple photos in a few days of our decorations. I guess that is it for now, have a good and safe day and be thankful for all you have.

Cool front coming.

November 24, 2024

            Good Sunday morning to everyone.

Our yard man Alex came over yesterday and did some yard work for us. He did receive a Star coffee drink on the way to our homestead, and lunch at the sandwich shop after the work. Alex mowed the front yard, and I trimmed it. After the mowing and trimming, I blew and swept the leaves and debris into piles and then I picked them up. I cleaned all along the curb in front of the house. The reason I told you that; later in the day I walked out to the street to review the work we had completed, and the areas along the curb again had leaves. I guess they were being blown up and down the street.

Alex also mowed the back 40 and we both worked together on trimming the back 40. I told him that probably the rest of the yard work for this year will likely be removal of leaves from the yard and maybe weed pulling from the berry beds.

My favorite wife and I did work on the decorations yesterday, we are not yet done but we have made some progress, photo to follow.

In the first photo you might think I was attempting to show you the manger scene which I was allowed to put together, but I was attempting to show you that Molly the cat had jumped on top of the manger, you need to look close to see her there. The second photo is an overall view of the progress being made on the front yard.

Today, I am hoping for some rest, but I do know there are still some things we need to do. My favorite wife did get one of the trees in the house decorated last night, yep, she stayed up late working on the tree even after a long day of work outside.

We may go out for lunch today, and we will work on some of the decorations, but I hope for some rest throughout the day.

Getting closer to finished. 😊

November 23, 2024

It seems to be a good morning here in Hewitt, it is cool but not freezing. Our big plan for today is to get Alex over and have the yard mowed and trimmed, then continue to attempt to install decorations. We asked Gabi to come and work today but she had other plans.

Yesterday I put together a couple 7-foot-tall white Christmas trees, then I was allowed to carry them into the front yard and secure them in place in the Jasmin beds. I did not connect them to the electric as I could not get to one of the timers due to too many decoration items in the floor in the front bedroom. I did remove the sticks and debris from the front yard and the back 40 in prep for today’s mowing and trimming. After today we will be removing leaves instead of mowing as the trees are starting to turn colors.

We still have many items to place in the yard, and the trees in the house all need to be decorated. We have a bunch of cartons that trees come in that will need to be taken back to the shed, there is never any rest for ole people.

Two photos, the first is of the garage and the second is of a flower.

In the photo of the garage, you can see one of the white trees along with other items that need to be place. The photo of the flower is a close up, it is a very small bloom.

We hope to take Alex to lunch with us and maybe we will stop by the cheap store to see if we need anything.

I guess I will stop for now, we hope your day is safe and that someone is nice to you.

Mow and decorate.

November 22, 2024

Good morning to you and those other people too.

I don't have a lot to present today, we have worked on some decorations yesterday, mostly inside the house. I did put the scrap wood manger together yesterday. It took way too long to get it together and since it is scrap wood and it had laid outside all year in all weather, it is in bad condition. I plan to take it back apart today and get rid of it.

We did go out to supper yesterday afternoon and then to the high school concert last night; it was good but the music was not Christmas music.

The kids are out of school next week for the Thanksgiving holiday. I guess I will have the week off, now what will I do?

Our garage is still full of Christmas decorations I will attempt to put a couple Christmas trees that we sit outside together today, so my favorite wife and I can install them.

It is getting close to time for me to get the kids off to school, so I will say we hope you have a good and safe day, be nice to someone today, and think happy thoughts.

November 21, 2024

What a day for a daydream, dreaming about no work at all, after all the work we did yesterday, maybe I should just say good morning to you.

Yesterday was a do nothing but work day. The first thing I accomplished was to get the angel reactivated so the neighbor lady would know where she was, when she came home after dark. Then I went to the shed and removed everything that was between me and the Christmas decorations, such as lawn mower, ladder, chop saw with stand and empty totes.

I began the task of taking items to the garage, segregating them in the garage in groups such as, plastic items like Santa Clause, totes with decorations in them, containers with extension cords and stakes, trees, and boxes with decorations. There were multiple trips from the shed to the garage and I did leave some plastic items that go into the manger, in the back 40 next to the fence as the garage was, and is full.

I did have time for a sandwich for lunch about 30 minutes later than usual, then as my favorite wife started to put a Christmas tree together, I went out back and picked up sticks and other debris from the yard, and I also put items back into the shed. I also checked the heat lamps in the hot house to be sure they were working. I brought the four pieces of the manger to the drive way.

As the tree boxes and totes in the garage get emptied, I will then need to take them back to the shed. Never any rest for ole people.

Today I will attempt to clean the two sides, one top and one back of the manger and then put them together. This manger is made from scrap wood. Once it is together I will be allowed to place the plastic Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and some plastic animals in and near the manger.

I am not sure if my favorite wife will be working on decorations inside the homestead our outside today, but I will be available to help after my naps.

I have a photo I took yesterday during all the excessive work; it is of a blooming flower that don’t know it is supposed to be fall.

I need to leave you for a while and go out into the freezing weather to get the grandkids and take them to school. It was 32 degrees in Waco last night, and it is still cold enough for a jacket this morning.

Ok, I am back and I got the grandkids to school safe and on time. Speaking of the kids, there is a concert at school tonight and it will be Christmas music.

Well, I guess I will stop for now so we hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

November 20, 2024

Howdy to everyone, and we hope you are having, or have had, a good morning. We are starting off a little cool this morning with a reported temp of 47 degrees. That might be cool enough for a jacket.

My favorite wife worked her tail off in the house yesterday as I worked my tail off in the garage. I was able to clean some items and I did toss some items, and there are a lot more to clean and toss. One of my projects was to reset the timer on the angel which is in the front yard. Now I don’t have a photo of the angel, it is at least 6 feet tall and is lit up totally with rope lights, in other words it is big and bright at night.

To get to the timer I had to move the tool chest and before I could move it, I had to move a table that the drill press is mounted on. It was a bunch of moving and then cleaning up under and around the things I had moved. I then reset the timer and replaced everything. Now the timer lays connected to a wire in the floor next to a wheel on the tool chest.

To make a short story longer, the angel did not come on last night, so I assume that when I pushed the tool chest back in place the wheel may have unplugged the timer. Yes, I will need to move everything again today and reconnect the timer.

Now why did I tell you all the above, last night as we had been sitting outside with some neighbors, a vehicle that looked like another neighbor went down the street faster than normal, then it turned around at the cul-de-sac and went back up the street. Then a minute later the vehicle came back down the street much slower. I was putting things away when the neighbor lady came over and said “your angel isn’t lit up”. She went on the say, “I look for the angel when I am coming down the street, then I know I am almost home, but tonight I drove by my house since I had not seen the angel”. I explained that I would have it back on tonight. In the past there have been others comment that the angel let them know they were nearing home.

Ok, I am back, I did get the grandkids and take them to school.

My favorite wife wants to get the Christmas decorations put up in the house and outside. That means I will need to be bringing many items from the shed to the garage today along with the other projects I have in mind. Since it may be close to freezing tonight, I will likely be allowed to bring the plumeria plants into the garage. Christmas decorations and plants in the garage, wow, no rest for an ole senior person. I had better get my bible reading and bible homework done this morning, as I will be working the rest of the day.

Lite the angel.

November 19, 2024

Good Tuesday morning, we hope everyone has a very good day.

Yesterday was a do-nothing day, I did pickup sticks out of the front yard and also removed a few more acorns and that is about it.

My favorite wife did do some more cooking yesterday and we did sit outside for a while yesterday afternoon. Since it was bible study night, I did not have an adult beverage. Speaking of bible study, in our group there are a bunch of smart people. They have excellent answers to the questions. I do occasionally learn from their answers and discussions.

My big plan for today would be to check to see if the heat lamps work before it gets cold and pick up the debris from the back 40 that was deposited there by the heavy winds we had. I should note that we received about 1/4 inch of rain. That is better than none, but we need more.

I have another plan for this morning, after dropping the grand kids off at school (kids equal both Alex and Gabi) I may drop by the star coffee place and get a cup, then on the way home stop at the burrito place for a breakfast burrito.

Well, I guess that is all I have to report, we hope you have a very good day and that everyone stays safe in all we do.

Cool clear morning.

November 18, 2024

We hope everyone is having a good morning, it is windy and the possibility of some rain with storms. I have no big plans for today, as I worked too hard yesterday.

I did purchase a new set of lights yesterday and put them up on the house and around the jasmine bed. There was a lot of moving the ladder and going up and down to get them on the house and then I was on my knees not only praying but installing the lights around the jasmine bad. I did have kneed pads and I was glad of that as there was acorns on the ground where I was working. I did get them connected to the timer and they worked, they came on at about 6:00pm. I did not leave them on, but I do know they work.

After putting the ladder away my favorite wife and I did wash the pot hound Tres. After the washing we went outside to rest and shortly after we sat down it began to sprinkle some needed rain. We decided to head for the front porch to be out of the rain, as of course, the sprinkles stopped and we did not get any rain.

I will be heading out to get the grand kids in a little while, hopefully I will get them to school safe and on time and before the rain starts, if it starts.

We need the rain very badly but we do not need the storms.

I just noticed that I have posted the same photo of the moon as seen through the tree, on two different occasions. Ole people can’t remember what they do.

Well, I need to get going and get the grandkids, so I will say, so-long for now, we hope you have a good day and be safe in all you do.

November 17, 2024

Good morning to everyone. I hope to put three photos in this most excellent detail of our day yesterday.

In the cold morning air (temp in the 40s) Saturday morning, I ventured forth from the Ford’s homestead and hopped into the Ford’s ole chevy, trailer attached and headed for the dump site. Usually when I arrive at the dump site there are vehicles ahead of me possibly as many as 30 or more. Yesterday, there was one vehicle ahead of me. They removed the limbs from my trailer, and I was on the way home at 8:08am.

Back at home I was able to get the trailer parked in the back 40 and then I called Alex to see if he was ready to work. It was a very cool 50 degrees when I picked Alex up.

A photo of a cloud which Alex took with my phone while I was driving yesterday morning as we were going to the star coffee place prior to working.

As you might see there was a cloud off in the distance and the sun was shining through some fluffy clouds.

Let’s now see a photo which was taken Friday afternoon when we were sitting outside just before dark.

Yes, you were just mooned. I know, only us older people know what mooned means. I also have a photo showing that fall is here.

What? You can’t see the leave on the oak trees turning brown, that means fall is here.

Yesterday’s workload: Alex and I moved the big, heavy, flowerpot into the hot house. I should say, Alex moved the big and heavy flowerpot into the hot house, as I watched. We went to the big pot and determined that we would pick it up, put it on the ole red wagon, pull it to the hot house and then determine how to get it inside. Alex was able to lift the potted plant by himself using his legs. He knows proper and safe lifting.

One problem was I need to be able to water all the plants weekly, and the big flower can’t restrict access to the other flowers. We also placed 2 heat lamps to help keep it warm in the cool weather, we have a heater that we have not yet placed, which is for the real cold weather. The heater has a fan which helps move the air around on those cold nights.

Then Alex and I headed to the front yard and started installing some Christmas lights on the house and around the flower beds. Alex did most of the work including the work from the ladder. We were about two thirds of the way done when we decided to go into Waco for lunch. lunch was good and after lunch we headed for the harbor store as I wanted to get an item.

Returning home we continued on installing the lights. We were almost done when one half of one string of the lights stopped working. We could not fix it so I took it down. this string covered about 12 feet of the roof and some of the Jasmin’s bed.  Alex finished the lights around the other Jasmine beds. We could not finish the work as we did not have another string of lights, so we compensated Alex and took him home.

Everything put away we decide to go to the Wally world and see if we could procure another string of lights. Luckly we were able to get another string of lights which I hope to install this afternoon.

During what was to be our rest period, aka sitting outside, my favorite wife wanted to drain the nasty water that was in the wishing well. this nasty water was stagnated and black in color. I used a small bucket to get most of the nasty water out and I poured it out on the street. Then we were able to clear a hole that was in the bottom of the well so future water would drain automatically. My favorite wife puts flowers in pots in the well and when we water them some dirt drains with the water and eventually blocks the drain hole.

I did have some rest time after the unclogging of the drain, for rest and an adult beverage.

Today, we would like to wash Tres and I want to get the last string of lights on the house and around the flower bed. I guess I am done presenting, we hope you have a good day and be safe in all you do.

Mooned the nice way.

November 16, 2024

Well, it is cold again this morning (49 degrees) but we still wish everyone a good morning. I will need to get out in the cold in a few minutes and hook up the trailer to the pickup in prep for going to the brush day in Hewitt.

Hewitt has a brush and bulk day once a month and a bunch of people like me get in line to get rid of our limbs or bulky items to the trash. Usually, I wait 30 minutes to get the limbs removed from my trailer, and they do the work I just watch. I did check the air pressure on the trailer tires yesterday so I will not need to do that today.

Yesterday’s events: I did move 8 potted plants into the hot house and it is basically full. I have one more big plant to move in, and Alex is coming over today to help with that. While I was moving pots into the hot house, I noticed that the squirrels have been going into the hot house and digging in the pots. I have been leaving the door open to help it stay cooler during the sunny parts of the day, I will need to keep the door shut if I want to keep the squirrels out.

I did pick up acorns and debris from the front yard again, there always seem to be a lot of debris but the acorns were few.

A friend from two houses down the street came up and said our dog was chasing her cats in our back yard. I was surprised at that comment but she said she had seen the cats in the back yard and our dog was chasing them. Now Tres chases squirrels in the back yard but I doubt that he chased cats. This lady said they have three young cats, one gray and two were orange in color. The lady and I went into the back yard and looked around but there were no cats. I have the feeling, she may have saw Tres chasing squirrels, and thought it was the cats.

Today I hope to get the lights hung on the edge of the roof and around the flower beds with help from Alex, if I remember how. I plan to pick him up on my way home from dumping the tree limbs.

If all goes well, we will have time for lunch at the sandwich shop with Alex. I don’t have any other plans for today, we will see what happens. Well, I need to stop and then get going, we hope you have a very nice day and please be safe in all you do.

November 15, 2024

Good morning to everyone. I have the TV next to my desk on and I looked at it and saw some advertisement where they were flying kites. The advertisement reminded me of the olden days when us kids, would get a kite and then go to the field behind our house and fly the kites. The kites back then cost a dime, and you would need string, the more string the better, and we would put a tail on the kites which was strips of ole rags tied together. The tail was important as it helped keep the kite up right which allowed it to fly. We would fly the kites each of us wanting to have our kite fly further away than the other kites.

Topic change: our dog Tres and I go outside to the front yard every morning, that is a habit that started when we use to get a newspaper daily. Tres would check the yard out and then he would get the paper and take it into the house and drop it at my favorite wife’s chair. We still go out each morning but now he seems to like to drop some Poopa-Loopa in the front yard each morning.

Yesterday’s events: I did toss out some items yesterday that were in the garage, more need to vanish. I did bring the trailer from the back 40 to the gate in prep for tomorrows limb haul off. The trailer has a lot of limbs and I wanted easy access for tomorrow morning.

I had a 2x4 foot sheet of ole plywood that needed to be tossed out but it would not fit in the trash container so I took it to the shed and cut it into smaller pieces. As you know my shed has a solar panel that powers a 12-volt battery that is connected to a power inverter. The power inverter provides 120 volts of electricity, for power saws and other devices. That makes it easier when I need to use a power tool.

While I was at the shed, I retrieved some Christmas lights and brough them to the garage. The lights go across the front edge of the roof and on the ground around the flower beds. Later I remembered I need the hangers that we use to put the light on the roof and the stakes that we use around the flower beds. I will need to see if I can find them in the shed.

My favorite wife was making cookies most of the day yesterday, so I help by washing up some of the dishes and tools that were used, then we headed out for supper. The food was good and the service was also good. Back at home I did sit outside for about half an hour as it was getting dark.

Today’s plans: normal schedule of getting the kids to school, then I need to get the rest of the flowers into the hot house as the weather people said it was 37 degrees in Waco this morning. I need to find the items to put the lights on the house and around the flower beds, maybe I can get Alex to help me.

Well, I need to get going, I will finish this later. We hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

November 14, 2024

Did we work too hard yesterday, well, we did enjoy sitting outside yesterday afternoon, and yes, we did remove the fall decorations from the front yard, and I had to put them back into the shed along with the items I had taken out of the shed. Oh, I almost forgot, Good Morning!

Let’s start this post off with something amazing. We have a photo of my latest walking stick that I have manufactured. We decided to get a photo of the walking stick while we were sitting outside yesterday.

In the photo we see a senior citizen with his recently manufactured walking stick, yes, he has his boots on which he has mentioned in the past postings, and this senior person’s ankle was not hurting while he wore the boots. How are ole people able to look so handsome? I seem to do my best work when I am working with scrap lumber or broken tree limbs.

Speaking of tree limbs, we had the trees in the front yard trimmed yesterday. They were able to get the tree limbs off the roof of the house. I wish I had taken a before photo so you could see the difference. I do have a during and after photo.

After the limbs were removed and hauled away, I did pick up the small debris that was left from their work. We, then began to remove the fall decorations, we being my favorite wife and me. I also picked up some acorns that had come off the tree limbs as they cut them down.

Sitting outside yesterday was very comfortable, but we understand that it may be very cool this afternoon with temps at 71 degrees. By the way, it is 49 degrees this morning. Fall may be coming.

I did water the black berries yesterday, since we have not had any rain, and speaking of water I need to check the sprinklers to see if any were damaged by the tree limb removal.

We have no big plans for today, get the kids to school on time and safely, maybe take some clothes to the cleaners, and stop by the teller machine for the weekly stipend.

We hope you have a good and safe day in all you do, and if you want an 8 X 10 photo of my walking stick let me know, it will only cost $40.00.

November 13, 2024

It is the 13th, but not Friday the 13th. I got up late this morning due to having a very good night of sleeping, it is nice to be comfortable all night. Oh, I guess I should say good morning to you all.

Now I was late getting up and I am late starting this soon to be uninteresting post, and I need to sneak off and get Alex to school. I would like to start off with a couple photos, one taken yesterday afternoon of a rain cloud as we sat outside resting from the grueling days’ work, the other taking this morning of the beginning of a sun rise.

If you look close at the first photo, you might see the rain cloud that had no rain in it, where is our rain.

I did very little yesterday, I did get another flowerpot into the hot house, and I picked up a few more acorns. My neighbor down the street usually has more acorns than I do, but this year he said there were very few, so he hasn’t tried to remove them from his yard. I do need to water the pots in the hot house and try to make some more room for a couple more large pots with big plants in them.

I think I had noted yesterday that I had a pair of boots on that I had not worn for years. Well, I wore them all day and my ankle which usually hurts did not hurt yesterday. I am not sure if it is the boots that are helping or if I just had a good day. I have them on again today to see if I have another day with out ankle pain.

When we sat outside yesterday it was very quiet, even the birds were being quiet. In truth we did not talk very much as there was not any traffic on the street and not much to discuss.

I might go out to the shed and get some totes out and bring them to the garage, as we might remove the fall decorations from the front yard in preparation for the Christmas decorations. I might be able to get the Alex to come over and help with the Christmas decorations again this year.

Well, I guess I should stop for now, we hope you have a good day and as always be safe in all you /we do.

November 12, 2024

Hello to you, but not to that other person, ok, hello to all and a good morning to all. We had a good day yesterday but there were some problems with the tamale preparation. We think the problem was with the masa but who knows. The tamales are bigger than normal, yes, I will have tamales for lunch today.

Next let’s discuss shoes. What type shoe do I wear, well most of them have rubber or very soft soles on them. That makes each step soft and comfortable. Well, for some reason I began to think about a pair of boots that I have not worn for years and they were in the closet taking up room. I use to wear these boots when I rode motorcycles, no they are not cowboy boots I think they were called engineer boots. They are leather and have hard soles on them, there is no softness to the soles of these boots.

I thought that being an ole person I would not even be able to get them on my feet, well I was wrong, I have them on and they feel so different without the soft soles. Walking in them seems odd, but I kind of like the feeling. Olden day memory, I wore these type boots when I was in high school. I had heel taps on the boots and they would click on the floor when I walked. I thought I was cool back in the olden days.

Let’s talk about honesty for a moment. If a person went to the store and purchased several items which were put in bags and if that person took them home and after emptying the bags that person found an item they had not purchase, what would they do?

My favorite wife had that happen to her. There was a package of batteries that she did not purchase, so she checked her receipt to see if she was charged for it, and she was not. She took the package of batteries to the store. Honest people be nice

Another topic: as we sit outside, we see some things that get our attention. Recently the birds seem to be occupying the bird houses as if they are getting ready for winter. Yesterday, there was a lot of birds and noise coming from the tree with the bird houses. I have determined that the parents who raised several babies in the houses were telling the younger generation to go find their own house, and the younger birds were not wanting to leave.

I did get three more flowers in pots put into the hot house; one was very heavy. All the easy ones have been moved in now the hard work begins and I will need help. That reminds me that I will need to water the potted plants in the hot house today.

The latest problem: there are neighbors who have put up their Christmas decorations, and we have not started yet. Wow, behind again.

Well, I need to get going an get Alex and take him to school. I hope you have a very nice day and that we all stay safe in all we do.
