A nice good morning to you, we hope your day is filled with warm sun shine and nice people. This will be another short posting as I have not been feeling good and it has been to wet to get outside and do anything.

Now that I said it was too wet outside to do anything, I did do something yesterday and it was outside. I got tired of sitting in the house so I decided to pick up debris out of the front yard. That is not too much work for a senior person. There are leaves on small twigs that fall from the trees and there are small sticks. I filled a five-gallon bucket with this debris. Some of the sticks were left over from the tree trimmers when they work in the front yard.

A while later I sat on the front porch reading from my book on revelations when I noticed more twigs with leaves on the ground. I don’t know why these twigs fall but they do.

Since I have not been feeling well, I have done a lot of sitting around. My favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday afternoon and enjoyed the birds making noise.

Well, I said it would be short and it is, we hope you have a good day and as always be safe in all you do.

April 11, 2024

Hay, we are starting a new day and it isn’t raining. I did go out and check the free rain gage this morning, and over the last 3 days our free rein gage has accumulated almost 3.25 inches of water. Almost 3.25 inches of rain is a lot of rain and the back yard still has some water in it.

To say I did not do anything yesterday would be more or less the truth. It was raining and I felt crummy, so doing nothing is the right thing. Heck I even went to the doctor even though I did not have an appointment. I was lucky, they were able to work me in. She, that is the lady doctor checked me out, they did a blood test. I have seen the results of the blood test and everything looked good. They will schedule me to see another doctor, and then I get back with my doctor in a month. My doctor told me to stop drinking coffee and anything with caffeine in it.

I would like to see a few days without rain so I could get my yard man Alex over here to mow and trim the yards.

I usually have a breakfast sandwich (cheese, egg, and sausage sandwich) while I am sitting here at the computer. I warm it up in the microwave and enjoy it while creating my posting. This morning, I got the sandwich out of the freezer, took it to the microwave and warmed it up. To my surprise it did not have sausage on it, just egg and cheese. It was not very good without the sausage. I went back to the freezer and check the others in the box, and they all have sausage. I guess the robot who makes the sandwich, made a mistake, or, it just wanted to cheat a real person!

As I sit here, I often look at the security screens, this morning I am seeing a bird accessing the bird house that is located on the front porch just above the chairs where I sometimes sit to read, and if it is raining, we can often sit on the porch and stay dry. If that bird claims that house, will my sitting out there cause him / her problems. I could sit on the back patio to read but then I can’t keep an eye on the neighborhood. My favorite wife and I did sit outside for a while yesterday afternoon, it was cool and windy.

Well, this is another short posting but short is sometimes nice. We hope you have a good day, and please stay safe in all you do.

The sun is shining!

April 10, 2024

A nice wet good morning to you all. I have very little to discuss today, so get ready for a short presentation. As I have already mentioned, it is wet this morning, our free rain gage has 2.5 inches of rain in it this morning, and the day before it had ½ inch of rain in it. For that one person, that is a total of 3 inches here at the Ford’s homestead.

Since it rained yesterday, the tree trimmers did not come to the homestead and trim trees in the rain. I said trees, there is only one large tree that needs to be trimmed in our back 40. The neighbor lady needs to get her tree trimmed; another limb from her tree fell during the storms. I assume we will get another call today saying, the trimmers will not be here again today due to the light rain. Personally, I think they should wait a few days and let some of the ground dry up before they start again.

Yesterday was actually a do-nothing day; I did get the Alex from school and Dave from work. My favorite wife and I, along with Tres, sat outside on the front porch yesterday afternoon, as the chairs on the porch were dry, the cushions on the swing were wet. I did get a photo of a squirrel that was finding the left-over acorns and eating them while at the same time irritating Tres.

I think Tres would have liked to have annihilated that squirrel, as it kept running from tree to tree aggravating the Tres.

What do I plan for today, nothing much, but I might drive to the teller machine and get our weekly stipend, and if I do that, I might get a cup of real coffee at the star coffee place, I do have a free cup coming.

On days like this I have the time to read from my Revelation book. Yes, I do still read from the bible daily and I also attempt to do my bible study homework. I think we only have 3 more bible study meetings for this year.

I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day, think some nice thoughts and please be safe.

Nothing doing.

April 9, 2024

Greetings from us to you, we have the possibility of severe storms today, with heavy rain, large hail and even the possibility of a tornado. We got some rain yesterday and the Free rain gage shows almost ½ inch of rain. I think we are back on our normal schedules for today, you know, picking up the kids from school and doing nothing.

Let’s see what happened yesterday. The tree people did come to our homestead and they did remove some dead limbs from our front yard trees. Also, they did remove the dead limb which was over the neighbor’s driveway. They went from our front yard to the other neighbors back yard where they cut down and removed an entire tree. We had the gate open so they could pull tree limbs from the back 40 to their chipper, photo to follow.

We assume you can see the tree limbs on our driveway under our carport. Those limbs were from the neighbors back yard. They tossed them over the fence and pulled them to the car port when they back the chipper in.

They did go into our back 40 and cut a couple tree limbs but not all that needs to be cut, they decided to leave I think because of the coming eclipse. They said they would be back tomorrow if it isn’t raining. They left their ladders in the back 40. They did clean up the excess debris before they left.

Topic change: It started to rain about 5:00pm yesterday and I have a photo of something on our driveway that only shows up when it rains.

I used a water sealer on the dry driveway a couple weeks ago, after it dries it will show up when it rains. My favorite wife said I was crazy for doing that, I think I am just silly.

Topic solar eclipse: Let’s talk about the eclipse. My wife and I sat outside and watched it develop, but when it started to decline, we headed into the house. I have a photo of a cloud that was covering the sun a little before the eclipse maxed out.

The clouds were moving and moved away a few minutes before entirety, yes, we had a blue sky during the main part of the event. It was dark enough that the outside lights came on. I have another photo showing the eclipse multiple places on my side walk. The sun was peeking through the leaves over the sidewalk and we could see the eclipse without looking up. It is like punching a hole in a piece of paper and holding it over another piece of paper.

Another subject: I sat outside for a while reading my book about Revelations, and as I sat there something caught my attention in the neighbor’s yard across the street. I saw a bird attacking a cat in his yard. The bird would dive out of the tree and buzz the cat. I thought possibly the cat may have had a baby bird and the momma was after the cat. The cat would get as low as it could, lying flat on the ground. Then it would try to move and it would be attacked again. I did see the cat leave from under the tree and it did not have a baby bird in its mouth.

Well, I guess that will be all for now, we hope you have a good day, please stay safe in all you do.

Silly not crazy!

April 8, 2024

Good eclipse morning to those of you in the line of the eclipse. We hope you get to see the eclipse, but here in Hewitt the chance is very small as we have clouds and a warm front moving in. We have chances of strong storms this afternoon, evening, and tomorrow. Wow, I sound like the so-called weather person.

The only thing we have going on here today is the possibility of the tree trimmers coming. They are supposed to be here if it isn’t raining, and it isn’t raining yet. We hope when they do come, they do all the work correctly, without any damage to anything, and they stay safe in all they do. I guess I will need to move the truck out of the driveway as they will need to go through the gate to get into the back 40.

Topic change: my favorite wife did some yard work yesterday, she was moving and planting some flowers. I did get to help a little, I moved a couple flowers to the front porch, yes it was strenuous work for an ole senior person. We did sit outside after all the work was completed and enjoyed some time for rest. I did get to do some reading from my book on Revelation. This is my second book and I find it very interesting.

The kids are out of school today and Dave has the day off so I will not need to go anywhere until this evening. As of now the bible study meeting will be at the Church, they have advised that it could be over the computer if traffic from the solar eclipse turns out to be as bad as they have been predicting.

I have a couple photos, one of some clouds that I found interesting, you might notice 4 bubbles of clouds, one of the scrap wood projects that I started. small wooden crosses that could be carried on a key chain or on a necklace.

Well, I guess I will stop for now, we hope your day is nice, and that everyone, even you, stay safe.

Cloudy day.

April 7, 2024

We want to wish you a good morning, we hope your day is filled with blessings!

Now to get started: what did you do yesterday? Wow, no response. That can only mean that whatever you did, you should not have done, or, that you did nothing, which means, “you are either lazy, or old, I guess you could be both”.

Since we have no comments from the group as to what you did yesterday, then I will take over and enlighten you as to what my favorite wife and I did. We did go to the Boy Scouts car wash, and the Ford’s ole Chevy was exceptionally cleaned. They did a nice job, and we were proud as we drove around Waco.

Speaking of driving around Waco, we did go to Arby’s for lunch. We walked in and the lady started placing our order without us saying anything. We do usually get the same thing each time we go there. The food was good. Leaving there we decided to go to the Cheap store even though we were not looking for anything in particular. We shopped for a while and my favorite wife did find a new can opener to purchase.

All that completed we headed for home. My favorite wife was spreading some flower plant food and then she pulled some weeds. I need to pull the weeds from the berry beds, #2 is really weedy, the others aren’t too bad.

Note: I had earlier told you we had gotten the Ford’s ole Chevy washed, well, the neighbor decided to mow his back yard and his big riding mower stirred up a lot of dust next to where the Ford’s ole chevy was parked. The truck is still clean, but it is dusty.

We did sit outside yesterday afternoon and a good friend came over to sit with us. As usual, the conversations were lively, and yes, they did evolve into discussions about the Bible, most of it about the tribulation and the millennium, there were comments about the new Jerusalem and the new earth. We did not have all the answers, but we did have questions. There is no charge to anyone who wants to join in on these conversations.

I did get a photo this morning before the sun was up, of the white rose bush. You don’t have to like it, but I do! You are correct, I have posted a photo of this bush before, and there are even more blooms on it now.

Today’s plans: we will likely go to the cracker store for either breakfast or lunch. Yep, we will be required to wait to get a table. Other than that, no real plans for today.

Monday’s eclipse plans: we expect it to be cloudy and they are calling for the possibility of rain in the afternoon. We need the rain and if we do not see the eclipse due to the clouds, we should still experience the darkness during the total eclipse

Well, I guess I will stop for now, we hope your day is safe and fun.

Breakfast.

April 6, 2024

Good morning or good day depending on when you look at this posting. Thanks to everyone who wished us a happy anniversary. Speaking of happy anniversary, we had supper out last night and at the end of our supper they brough us a large plate with Happy Anniversary written on it. Also, there was a bowl of ice cream that my favorite wife and I shared. Wow, I just thought, we are now starting our 56th year.

Note: we expected to see the restaurant filled with people who were in town for the coming eclipse. They had a bunch of wait staff, but the restaurant was not close to being full.

We did sit outside yesterday afternoon when we got home from supper, and I will say, we had a good 55th anniversary. I have a photo of the two of us on our anniversary.

Today I guess we are back on our normal Saturday schedule. I have thought about normal schedules and that they are kind of like an addiction. When you are addicted to something you can’t do without it, and when you are off your normal schedule you feel like you are missing something. Heck for ole people, if you’re not on your normal schedule, it is as if you are missing something, and often when your schedule has changed, you are not sure what day it is. Schedules are addicting especially to ole people.

The scouts are having another car wash today, so we will probably get the Fords ole Chevy washed. I do want to get the table saw out, and by out, I mean, out on the driveway away from the garage, if it isn’t too windy, Using the table saw in a windy situation means dust everywhere. My project is small and what I have in mind may not even work. If I accomplish what I am trying I will tell you later, if not you will not be notified.

Our neighbor had a tree cut down yesterday which was very close to his house. One half of the tree was over the back of his house. They were able to get it removed with no damage to the house.

I have gotten a bid on the tree work that we did not get done before. If the weather is good, they will be here Monday. Most of our work is in the back 40, but there are a couple small dead limbs to be removed in the front yard. The neighbor has a limb hanging over their driveway near the street, the fellow giving us a bid saw the broken limb and said they would remove it for free.

Well, I think I am going outside and see if the wind is blowing, if not I may get the saw out. We hope you have a good day, be productive at all you do, and please be safe.

Schedules are addicting.

April 5, 2024

We wish everyone a good morning, and we hope the entire day is good for you.

Actually, I will be talking about April 5, 1969, a day that lives in the history of the Ford Clan. We hope some of you know what happened on April 5, 1969, it was the wedding of Donna Owen and Don Ford. In an effort to help that one person with the math, we have been married 55 years as of today. I thought about this for a while, and decided to see how many days that would be. 55 years times 356 days, plus 13 leap years equal, 20,088 days married to my favorite wife. Wow, time passes quickly. Our big plan for the day would be to go out for supper together and celebrate the 55 years.

Just think if we would have gotten married on April 8th, there would have been a solar eclipse on our anniversary, and everyone would be celebrating our anniversary and forget about the eclipse.

Topic swap: I did trim the front yard before picking up the grand kids from school yesterday, and returning home, my favorite wife and I went out for supper. I did mow the yard after returning home from having supper. Yes, my favorite wife and I did sit outside for a while yesterday evening. The front and back yards look good right now. I do have a photo of one of my favorite plants.

It is an onion that started growing in the bin where we keep onions. I decided to put it in a pot and let it grow rather than tossing it out.

I guess I will stop for now, I know this is a short post, but sometimes short is good. We hope you have a good day; stay safe in all you do.
