I am awake and it seems as if it is a good morning for us here in Hewitt, and we hope it is also a good morning for you.
Yesterday: I did not get on my hands and knees and pull weeds from a flower bed as I remember that the lawn sprinklers had sprayed water yesterday morning and the grass was wet. I decided to get the string trimmer and trim the back yard. I have a photo of some odd growing grass.
The photo is of a traffic cone that is about 30 inches tall and has been in the back yard for many years. This is the first time I can remember having seen weeds growing up through the top of the cone. I removed the cone and cut the weeds. The trimming took some time and then I decided to prune a couple plants including removing a few lower limbs from the live oak tree. I need to do some serious trimming on the tree but that will be another day. I put the tools away and headed into the house to get a shower.
I was able to wash my ole body, shower taken I decided to get a short rest and a cool down period, then get some clean clothes on as we were planning to go to town for a couple of items. It was 11:00 when I was dressed and ready to go to town but there was a different plan occurring. My favorite wife was going through her desk and removing items that did not need to be there and then reviewing the items that she would keep.
I went outside to the front porch and puffed on the cigar for a few minutes, as usual there is a photo to see. Two things about the photo: first the cigar is not from Cuba; it is from the Dominican Republic. Yes, I know both countries are out in the ocean. The cigar is still handmade and good. Second you can see a ring that was given to me for 35 years working for the same company. Actually, I worked there 39 ¾ years, nope I did not get a 40-year ring.
Back in the house my favorite wife was still going through things at the desk, so I just got onto the Ford’s ole recliner and did nothing for a while. After a rest period I came in here to the Ford’s ole computer and started putting this post together. At 2:45pm I went in to see if my favorite wife was going to stay home or go to town. She was going to town with me but not yet. She continued her desk work, she was going through cards she had received in years past, ole photos and other paper work.
At 3:45pm we did leave the Ford Homestead and head into town. It was a Friday afternoon, and every vehicle was on the road. I have no idea why that many people were out and about, maybe they were also wondering why we were out and about. Went to the first store and got the item my favorite wife wanted. This store had all kinds of fourth of July decorations, but they did not have a flag.
Went to the second store and got more items for my favorite wife and I purchased a new American flag. This flag is 3 X 5 feet, and I do have a photo.
I do have another flag, but it is larger and I think it is too heavy for the flagpole. You may have noticed in the photo that the wind was blowing.
We arrived back home at about 5:00pm. We did sit outside for a while yesterday afternoon and as usual the neighborhood was very quiet.
Today’s options: we may go to a different store today as there is still an item we would like to get, and we might go to the cheap store just to see if we need anything.
I am stopping for now, we hope you have a blessed day and that we all stay safe in all we do.
Donnie the Ford
