June 15, 2026

Is it a good morning? I asked the question if it is a good morning as we had flooding last night and we hope everyone is safe and dry. I checked the rain gage this morning and we received “5 inches” of rain in a few hours last night.

As usual I got up early yesterday morning, and I did watch one of the church services on the TV. I did get my bible reading done in the morning around the usual time.

My favorite wife and I went to lunch at the cracker store. The food was good and the service was even better. When we left the store, we took the long way home. I drove on some roads I have not been on in years, and I saw things that I did not know were there.

Back at home after a short rest, I started the washing of the clothes.

We sat on the front porch for a while, and we again saw a drone delivery at our neighbor’s house. They did get a video of the delivery and I have a photo.

It was too hot and the humidity made it feel even hotter, so we went back into the house for a while. At about 5:00 we went to the driveway to set for a while with the big ole fan blowing air on us. About 6:30 Dave arrived with our supper. The home cooked meal was very good and we much appreciate it. Our bellies were full.

After supper it started to rain, and it was a hard rain. Earlier when we were sitting on the driveway I had gone across the street and put the neighbor’s trash can out. I set it on the driveway in a position that I thought would keep it away from water running down the street and yet positioned where the trash truck could get to it.

When it had rained for a little while I looked out front and that trash can was moved down the street. I assume the lady who feeds the neighbor’s dogs moved the trash can, to give her more room to get out of the driveway. I went out in the rain and put the trash can back in the driveway. Later I looked out when the rain was very heavy and someone had moved the trash can into the grass totally away from the water.

Then I looked to see our trash cart, and it was gone! Yep, I could not see the trash cart anywhere down the street. The water was running down the street like a river, over curb high.

I have a photo of the water that was in our backyard. That water was un our back patio and our patio is about 8 inches above the ground. This morning the back yard is very wet but the grass is seen and not the water.

Today’s activities: I went down the street before sunrise to the cul-de-sac and recovered our trash cart; it was lying on its back and in a position where the trash had not washed out. I recognized our trash, so I was able to get it upright and push it back home. There was another trash cart lying there also.

I will stop for now and get a cup of homemade coffee, we hope you have a good day and that these floods stay away so we all can have a safe day.

Mr. trash cart retriever, Donnie the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.
