Good morning to you, and almost everyone else. It is almost 9:00am when I start this posting, and yes that is later than usual. Why am I starting late, no one asked, I was asked to meet Claire at the VW dealership this morning at 7:00am, as they need some repairs to the vehicle. Arriving at 7:00 I learned that they were not open yet. I waited a few minutes thinking someone was late getting to work and opening the gates.
After some waiting, I called Dave and learned they do not open until 8:00 on Saturdays. I decided to not sit there at the gate for 45 minutes so I was able to turn around and leave, even though there were two vehicles behind me at the gate. Nothing to do I drove to the Star coffee company and got a small cup of coffee. I then pulled into the Wally world parking lot and waited.
A few minutes before 8:00 I headed back to the dealership where I picked up Claire and we headed for her house. They said it would not take too long and Claire will call us when they are finished with her car. I did explain, if we are at the sandwich place when she called, she will just have to wait until I finish eating.
Yesterday’s events were almost normal: my favorite wife went to town and shopped for a while and I was left at home all alone. After the tears stopped flowing, I decided to pick up sticks from the front yard. While I was “playing pickup sticks,” I spoke to a neighbor and learned that they were going on a short cruse (2 weeks) to Hawaii. He wondered if I would put his garbage container out Monday, and then put it back after it was empty, I did agree to the extra work.
After contact with the neighbor, I then completed the “pickup sticks game”, in the front yard and proceeded to the back 40 and picked up sticks there, along with some of the Poopa-Loopa.
I decided to check out the small generator, so I brought it from the shed and set it on one bench and I sat on the other bench, no I do not have a photo. I wanted to be sure I had removed the gas from the unit after the last time I used it. There was no gas in the tank so I turned it upside down and took the bottom off the carburetor and it was also empty. Then a pin came out of the float, and I had to put it back, which was not easy. After a couple try’s I got the pin back in and put the parts back together, I did also check the spark plug.
That project completed, and the generator back in the shed, we washed the pot hound Tres. After a wash job, I decided that since I had the hose in my hands, why not water the flowers in pots, and two of the berry beds that were not in the direct sun. All that strenuous work completed, I staggered back into the homestead and rested for a good 15 minutes. During the rest period I did set up my chair on the driveway in preparation for our get out and do-nothing afternoon rest period.
We did have a friend come over, she usually comes on Friday afternoons and sits with us and we have lively discussions. Quite often the discussions are about our olden days.
Well, I guess I should stop for now, we hope you have a nice day and that you are safe in all you do.
Sandwich day.
Senior ole person who needs a nap before lunch, Don the Ford
May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow!
