April 30, 2025

Well, I guess it could be a good morning, but I am not sure how good the day will be as we may have storms starting about noon. We wish you a good morning and a good day.

Yesterday was a good day for us here at the Ford homestead, I got Alex to school safely and on time, I did get a cup of real coffee, and I did my daily bible reading. I did also mow the front yard and trim the edges; I even swept the excess clippings up from the street. The rest of the day was a take it easy and do very little day. I did read from the chronological bible and that is interesting as it has all the same info from the regular bible but in a chronological order. I guess reading from both bibles is kind of like double dipping.

We had a friend come over yesterday afternoon and we had some lively conversations, some of which were about the bible. She has challenged me to look up a name of a person from the bible that we talked about but none of us remember the name.

I just looked at the security monitors and I see it is now raining a little. I hope I don’t melt when I go outside, you know I am as sweet as sugar.

I had thought about pulling some weeds today but with the rain I guess I will stay inside.

It seems as if we have several flowers that have yellow blooms, and I have another photo of a different flower with a yellow bloom.

We have some plants that are called moon plants, they get that name as they bloom at night. I have seen two buds that may turn into blooms tonight.

Our cat molly has come into the house and is laying on the rug behind me. Molly don’t like storms and I assume she knows that we will likely be having storms as the day progresses, so she is inside and staying close. Tres will do the same thing as soon as the thunder starts, I will likely have Tres under the old desk and Molly on the ole desk staying close to me if and when the storms occur.

Well, I guess I will stop, and get started, that is stop this and get started going to get Alex, we hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

April 29, 2025

Good morning to one and all, we hope your day is starting off in a nice way.

I did very little yesterday, I did get a cup of coffee and this time it was free. I enjoyed the free cup as I was doing my daily bible reading. I did have the bible study homework completed so the rest of the day was kind of a do-nothing day.

This last bible study meeting had food and some time to associate with the other members before the meeting started. The bible study has one more meeting before summer break, it is for the participants to present their thoughts as to what they learned and or how they feel about the bible study. The next bible study class will start on September 8th.

Different subject: My favorite wife was gathering some ole stuffed toys to be donated when she found a camera that looked like a toy.

She noticed that it took batteries, and she put batteries in it and it worked. It had about 250 photos on the camera but about ¾ of them were blurry or just a black screen. It appeared that when the kids were using the camera they may have pushed the button even when they were not wanting to take a photo. There were some good photos, so I connected the toy camera to the computer and removed the non-viewable photos. I did notice that the camera had a button that would allow you to zoom to about three times closer, that is a pretty good toy camera. We plan to show this to the kids and see if they remember it.

Today possible events: I hope to mow the front yard, but I will need to remove the debris before starting. This wind we have been having continues to make small twigs with or without leaves on them to fall to the ground. I might take some items to the cleaners today and if I do, I might get a cup of real coffee.

I need to get started and get Alex off to school so I will say have a good day and be safe in all you do.

April 28, 2025

It is another good morning here in Hewitt. We hope everyone will have a safe and interesting day.

Yesterday was a good day for me, I did not need to work so I was able to rest throughout the day. We did have lunch at the Cracker store and we did sit outside for several hours yesterday. One neighbor dropped by and she sat with us for a while discussing all things. Then after she had left another neighbor walked over to visit. Then after a short while her husband also came over and we had some pleasant time together. The weather was nice and the neighborhood was quiet.

Today I need to get Alex to school safely and on time then I need to take it easy the rest of the day until this evening when we have our last bible study meeting before the summer break. We will be having food and time to associate with each other before the meeting starts.

I do not have any big plans for the day we will see what happens.

That was a short post, we hope you have a very good day and be safe in all we do.

Rest is good.

April 27, 2025

We are starting out with a good morning here in Hewitt Texas, for those not in Hewitt please be patient, you will also have a good morning.

Review of yesterday’s events, or, here is another page from The Don’s journal. Postings are supposed to be interesting things, and a journal is about what someone did.

We started yesterday off by doing very little. I did get to do my daily reading from the bible and I did venture out into the back 40 reviewing the grass in the yard and then the weeds in the ditch. As I had noted in yesterday’s Journal, while exploring the back 40 I was shocked to find that the winds had removed a panel from the Fords old hot house. Photo to follow.

I did recover the panel from the ditch behind the house and reinstall it on the ole hot house. It is amazing to me that any sun light even gets through the old, stained panels.

My favorite wife and I did keep the usual Saturday schedule, we went into town for a lunch sandwich, then we stopped at the cheap store. Back at home I took a 20-minute break (aka nap) then I called our yard man Alex and asked him to come over and cut the weeds in the ditch. It took him about 1.5 hours to cut all the weeds and then I compensated him and took him back home.

My favorite wife did plant a few new flowers, and I helped a little, but I did not take photos. Speaking of photos, I do have a photo of a flower in the back 40 that has several blooms and more are coming.

Later in the afternoon we did sit outside enjoying the quiet neighborhood.

Well, I guess I should stop and try to get ready to go over to the cracker company for lunch. We have not visited this cracker store for two weeks, we hope they did not go out of business due to our refusal to visit and spend money.

We hope everyone has a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

Be nice today…

April 26, 2025

We would like to say good morning but since you are reading this and we are not talking we can't say good morning, but I can enter with the keyboard.
Yesterday was a quiet day for me, I went to the bank and the lady there helped me with my question. I did get a cup of coffee from the Coffee place and this time it was free. I was able to get air filters for the air conditioner and install one. I then headed out for lunch. There was supposed to be the group leader, me, and two others from the group having lunch yesterday, but it was only me and the group leader. One fellow text that he could not make it, the other just did not show up. Our study group began with about 15 participants; we have lately only had 6 or 7 in the group discussions.
I removed leaves and twigs from the front yard due to the winds we have been having.  I also had some time to sit out on the front porch and read from the chronological bible yesterday.
Later in the afternoon a friend came over and we sat outside for a while. I think it is odd how much we talk about doctors and illnesses and people who have passed away. I guess there were a lot of relatives in those discussions.
This morning, I decided to review the back 40 this morning and also review the black berry beds. The #1 bed has many green berries and the blooms are gone; they will start changing to ripe berries very soon. The #2 and #3 beds still have a bunch of blooms, and they do have green berries also.
I then reviewed the ditch behind the house as the weeds need to be cut down in the middle and other side of the ditch. I saw what appeared to be a board that was about 2 by 4 feet in size, laying in the ditch. I assumed it was washed down there during the rain and windstorms we had. Then I walked over to the so-called hot house and a panel from the roof was missing. I now know what that was I saw in the ditch. I assume the windstorm removed the panel from the roof and deposited it in the ditch.  Will attempt to remove the panel sometime today and see if it is ok. The panels are so old that they are no longer clear like glass, they are made of two layers of plastic.
I do not have the yard man Alex over here today, but we may have him over tomorrow. We don't have any big plans for today, we may go into Waco for lunch but other than that, no real plans.
I am using the new computer, and it is not easy like the ole computer.
I assume that is it for now, we hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.
New and different! 🙁

April 25, 2025

Good morning to all, we did get some rain and wind yesterday, and yes, I will provide a photo of some effects the wind had on a neighbor’s tree.

As you may see, a large limb is stuck into the ground and there are smaller limbs on the ground, there are limbs on top of her house, and I have a second photo from a different view.

We did have a lot of wind yesterday and we received a little more than 1.5 inches in the ole rain gage. The rain is appreciated; the wind and storms are not. The rain did subside and allow us to leave the homestead for our date night (aka supper out).

Returning home from date night we did sit on the front porch and enjoy the quiet neighborhood until, a couple people leading small dogs had the audacity to walked down our street which cause Tres to start barking, I could not make him stop and I became irritated, so I took him into the house. End of our relaxing time, while sitting outside.

Today’s possible events are, I need to go to the bank and get our weekly stipend, and I also need to talk with one of these people. I should purchase a couple air filters for the Ford’s ole air conditioner, and I plan to have lunch with some of the fellows from the bible study.

I need to leave and go get Alex and take him to school, hopefully I will return and complete this post. Well, I did make it back and I am finished with this post.

We hope you have a very interesting day filled with good happenings and please be safe in all you do.

April 24, 2025

Well, I have started the day off a little odd. I was going to use the new computer, and I could not enter any data into the new computer. After several tries, I switched to the old computer, and I could not enter data on it either. Then, I remembered, yesterday when I was cleaning the office, I turned the keyboard off while I cleaned it with a wet cloth. I now have it turned on and as you can see, I can again enter data.

Yesterday’s main event was, cleaning the ole office area. I removed a bunch of stuff from the office placing it on a table in the garage. Then I used a damp cloth and wiped everything down. As I returned items to the office I would dust each item, like the keyboard, and then replace them in the office. This process took a couple hours, and the office is much nicer now that it is clean. I did miss one area, and I will clean it today.

I have gotten a late start due to the keyboard being turned off, I will go get the Alex and I will return in a while.

Ok, I made it back and I did get him to school on time. They are having one of the star tests today at school, I now understand they call them star tests due to the star on the Texas flag.

I do have some photos from yesterday, the first is of flowers blooming near the shed behind some black berries. Speaking of black berries, I have a photo of some green berries. The third photo is of first-time blooms for this flower. I guess the rain is helping everything.

Well, I have no plans for today other than finishing the office cleaning and then resting a lot. We hope you all have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

April 23, 2025

What a good morning, it is raining, and the lightning has moved away. I have not been outside yet to see how much rain we have received, but it is appreciated.

I was doing almost nothing yesterday, so I decided to take a ride on the trike. I rode around for about 20 minutes, and it was enjoyable. Back at home my favorite wife allowed me to drive her over to the nursery, no not for kids, for flowers. She purchased a new rose bush and 4 small cactus type plants.

Back at home I was allowed to dig a hole and then plant the new rose bush. That would not have been too bad if, I had not needed to get on my knees on the sidewalk to do the planting. Oh, I should note that I had a mask on as my allergies were at the high level, and when the work was complete the mask was totally wet, due to this ole person’s perspiration.

I did sit outside with a new dry mask on, and at one point my favorite wife offered me money to go get some chicken for supper. I did venture forth to procure the nourishment for supper.

Photo available now: of flowers here at the homestead.

The rain has helped make the homestead yard pretty.

I guess I will get started and go to get the Alex off to school. We hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

April 22, 2025

Good morning again, we hope your day is starting peaceful and bright.

Yesterday was a calm and quiet day at the Fords, well we did have the yard man over and he did mow the yards so it was a little noisy. After the mowing I did drop Alex off at one of his friend’s home. I did go to the hardware store and purchased an item and I did take it easy for most of the day. we did remove the easter decorations from the front yard yesterday, and my favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday afternoon prior to me heading to the bible study meeting. The bible study meeting was interesting and full of lively discussions.

Today I need to get Alex and take him to school, I think they have four more weeks counting this week, before summer break.

That is all for now, we hope you have a very good day and stay safe in all you do.

Rain maybe today?

April 21, 2025

Good morning to all, we hope your day is starting off in a good manner.

We did very little yesterday here at the Ford’s house, my favorite wife did cook a small meal for just the two of us and it was good, yes, I did wash the dishes after eating. We did sit out on the front porch for a while yesterday afternoon, the weather was nice, and the neighborhood was quiet except for the birds. Where we were sitting on the porch, there is a bird residence hanging (aka bird house) and we know there are baby birds in the house because we could hear the chirping. Both mom and dad birds were not happy with us sitting that close to the residence and they made a lot of noise. After a while the father bird would bring food to the baby birds in the house trusting that we would not bother him.

When we came back inside, I noted that I needed to finish my bible study homework. It took a while, but I did finish it and then I went out into the garage and worked on the little scrap wood crosses. There is nothing fancy about them, but I like trying to make them.

Later in the afternoon since there was nothing that we want to see on the TV, we went outside again, this time to the swing set on the driveway and relaxed.

This morning early; as usual, Tres and I went out front so he could look the front yard over. He has a tendency of finding some grass growing in the Jasmin beds and he eats it. I guess it is good for his belly, but that isn’t why I am commenting on going out front each morning. For the last couple weeks there has been a bright star or planet in the eastern sky. Over the last few weeks, I have noticed this star or planet increasing in height and it is so bright that it is easily seen when the sky is bright just before sun rise. I did get a photo but it is too difficult to see it on the photo so I will not post it. I do have a photo of some clouds that appeared to me as a “V” in the sky. Yep, clouds sometimes are interesting to me.

I will attempt to stop for now, I need to get the Yard man Alex over here to do our yard work today, yes, they are out of school today. We hope you all have a very good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

April 20, 2025

Is it a good morning? Yes, it is a good rainy morning! I did check the Ford’s ole expensive rain gage and it has ¼ inch of rain. I am sure we would have liked to have more rain, but we are thankful for what we have gotten.

I will attempt to briefly explain what the Fords did yesterday. Yesterday morning we drove over to Daves house to give some Easter cards to Gabi and Alex. We did get to talk with everyone for a while and during the conversations Alex asked if he could go to lunch with us.

We approved his joining our venture in to Waco for a sandwich, and lunch was good. We did go to the cheap store where I bought a charger for rechargeable batteries. It cost less than $5.00 and it came with 4 batteries. My wife purchased something that cost $1.00 then we headed to our homestead and Alex was with us. His mother and sister were going to come over to use my printer so he said he would ride back home with them.

Back at home, I got on the ole recliner and kicked back, while Alex went outside and sat on the swing waiting for his mother. After a while I went out to Alex and asked if he wanted me to take him home since his mother had not yet arrived, he said yes.

Back at the homestead I decided to install the new flag. It has not been flown prior to this, and since it was breezy I thought it would be a good time to fly it. Yep, I have a photo.

As you may see, the flag was being moved by the wind and Tres was sitting there looking at my favorite wife. The main reason he will sit and stare at someone is if they have something to eat. I think my favorite wife had some nuts to eat and Tres likes nuts.

Later I was asked to do some carpet work. Now I have never really work on carpet so I was not sure that I could accomplish the task my favorite wife had proposed. It did not take too long after I determined how and what to do.

I do have another photo taken while we were sitting outside yesterday afternoon. We did have a visitor drop by for a while; she lives down the street from us. It is always interesting when a friend stops by, but I also note that many conversations are about aches and pains and doctor visits. I guess that is because we are all getting old.

Well, I guess I should stop for now but first let me post the photo of the carpet work I did.

The carpet was the item my favorite wife purchased Saturday for a dollar at the cheap store, and it has been installed on the leg of the swing set to keep the cat Molly from scratching in it. Miss Molly has a tendency to scratch the leg of the swing set. after anyone would pet her, and since the swing set has been painted my Favorite wife decided to try and keep Molly from scratching the leg.

Today, we are not going out for lunch, my favorite wife is cooking a small meal just for the to of us.

Ok, now I will stop, we hope you have a good Easter and stay safe in all you do.

April 19, 2025

It appears to be the start of a good morning here in Hewitt Texas. As far as I can see, it has not started raining yet, and so far, we have had no storms. I just checked the weather radar, and the rain is still off to the west of us.
Our big plans for today are to do as little as possible, you know naps and sitting outside in the rain, getting soaking wet, or maybe not. We will likely go into Waco about lunch time and possibly the cheap store after having lunch. Yes, we have a great schedule for Saturday's.
The Don worked so hard yesterday that it is difficult for him to get around and do anything today. First, he did his daily reading of the bible and then his bible study homework and a short nap. Then he went outside and began working by watering the flowerpots. He then decided to follow his favorite wife's instructions and paint a table and box with the brown paint. The painting was difficult and seemed to have taken hours, but finally I was done, and it was time for another rest period. Oh, I have photos to follow.
We had brown paint, and we used it. The box has some stuff inside like pieces of wood, yes, the tops come off. You are also correct, both or inventions of mine.
We did sit outside yesterday and while I was sitting there, I was visited by a friend. He came down the wall and waited for me to get a photo.
I guess I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

April 18, 2025

I assume I will consider this day, "a day of vacation". I do not need to get Alex and take him to school as school is off today and Monday. Wow, it is a good morning.

When I went to bed last night, I was thinking that I could sleep in this morning, but that did not happen as the Tres came to the side of the bed saying he wanted to go outside. Now I did not know if he wanted to, our if he needed to go outside so I got up at 5:00am and allowed him to keep me from sleeping in.

Yesterday workload: my favorite wife wanted to paint the ole swing set as seen in the previous posting. We gathered the pain brush and paint can and moved a few things around for easy access to the swing set and she started painting. There were two seat boards that needed to be replaced, and I went out back to search for some scrap wood.

Why did I look for scrap wood, because I don't have any new wood. I was able to find a couple pieces of wood, I got the table saw out and cut the boards to size, I removed the ole damaged boards and installed the new boards. After putting the table saw away, I then helped by paining the remaining part of the swing set. It was a lot of work, and we were both tired.

We had received the new solar powered lights for the yard, and I did remove the old lights and installed the new lights. I did get a photo of some of the lights this morning when Tres and I went out front for his morning review of the yard.

Yes, it was still dark when we went out this morning.

After a couple showers and some resting time my favorite wife and I went out for date night, aka supper, the food was good, and the service was good also. Back at home we sat outside enjoying the nice weather and the fact that the swing and ole rocking chair had been painted. I have a photo of my favorite wife enjoying the ole newly painted swing set.

You are correct, she was looking at her phone and totally ignoring me.

Today plans, rest and relax. 😊

We hope you all have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

April 17, 2025

Good morning. It seems to be a nice morning starting here at the Ford’s house. I am getting a late start here at the computer as I watched the last part of an old black and white silent movie about Jesus crucifixion and resurrection.

Yesterday I did paint the ole rocking chair that sits on the driveway, and I have a photo.

Yes, it is painted in a flat brown color, and it took several hours to paint. It was not easy to get to each place to paint, sometimes the chair was on its back or laying on its front or just sitting upright. It was not easy to get to all the spots, and I have found a couple missed places.

My wife has a plan to paint the ole swing today and I have a before photo.

I did use the pressure hose to wash the stuff off the ole swing frame, but I have seen birds on it this morning, so there may be more items to remove before the painting starts. We discovered that two of the boards on the seat need to be replaced, and I will see if I have some scraps to make the replacements. We did not know that were in bad condition until we removed the cushions.

I need to stop for now and proceed to get the Alex and take him to school.

Ok I am back, and I did get him to school on time. My favorite wife has started painting the ole swing set this morning, and I intend to help her in a little while. First, I need to see if there is any scrap wood that I can use to replace the two seat bords on the swing, and if so, I need to cut them to size and then remove the old and install the new.

I will stop now and get started, we hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

April 16, 2025

We want to say good morning to one and all, we are now starting Wednesday as the week continues to progress.

What did the Don do yesterday, absolutely nothing, at least we think he did nothing. The Don and his favorite wife did leave the homestead in the Ford’s ole van yesterday morning with two goals in mind. First, get some gas in the Ford’s ole van, then get some brown paint to paint the ole rocking chair that sits on the driveway and the ole swing set that we use when sitting outside most afternoons. The first gas station was full of vehicles, so we drove on by. The store we went to did not have paint, it is a country-based store, and they had a lot of things but no paint.

The Don then drove to the next gas station where we were able to get some gas. We then headed to the home store where we were able to get the Brown paint. It was lunch time, so we headed to the sandwich shop for a sandwich, fries and a drink. Food eaten; we headed for home where I rested for a while.

Rest completed, I went out to the back 40 where I procured a shovel, and I then dug up two black berry plants that were growing outside the berry bed. I never know whether they will survive the digging and being put into a flowerpot, it takes several days of watering to see if they will live.

I should note; I did pick up some little limbs from the back 40 again, you would think if someone paid $4,000.00 to have the limbs removed and carried away, they would not have little limbs still falling on the ground. I did not pay $4,000.00 to have the limbs cut and removed, but I should not be picking up the little limbs either.

I then pulled weeds from the #2 berry bed, no I did not get them all, but I got several. I do have a photo of the green, black berries. Yes, we have new berries now on the vines, and it will not be long now…

As I was pulling weeds, I noticed a flower which was attempting to bloom, and it grows under the black berries.

Before the weed pulling, I did water the berry beds, it helps when pulling weeds if the ground is a little wet. I have another photo of some blooming flowers, but the photo isn’t very good as the sun was shining on part of the flowers.

All the work completed, and the tools put away, we did sit outside for a while. The birds were flying in and out of the garage, we assume they were clearing out some bugs. I have a photo of one of the birds as he was on a bucket next to the garage door.

We did not have any friends over yesterday afternoon, but we discussed the topic of “Revelations” several times. I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and please be safe in all you do.

The end times will come.

April 15, 2025

The sun rise will be at 7:00am this morning but it is still dark as I start this short report, we hope you all have a good day and an even better Good Morning.

This morning when the Tres and I went out front it wasn’t breezy, it was windy. Usually, even when it is said to be a windy day, the wind usually isn’t blowing that hard that early in the morning. Wow, what kind of day will we have?

Yesterday was a day of doing very little. I did get the oil changed in the Ford’s ole Chevy, and I have a small wood working project that I started, and I did pick up some sticks from the front yard and I did go for a ride on the trike, but other than that and going to the bible study yesterday evening, I did very little.

Wow, nothing for the Ford to talk about, so I will wish you a good day and ask that you stay safe in all you do.

Nothing doing.

April 14, 2025

We are back at the start of the week, so we wish all a good morning and a happy day. We had a good day yesterday; I will provide some input in this posting.

My favorite wife and I had decided that we would go to the Cracker store in Bellmead since we use to go there every Sunday, and then they built one here in Hewitt which changed things. We were wondering if any of the people who worked there when we use to go, were still there. We arrived and did not have to wait too long to be seated. Shortly after we were seated one of the people we knew came to our table and gave my wife a hug and shook my hand. We could only talk for a few minutes as they were busy. Then a couple minutes later a lady we also knew from the past came tour table and gave us both a hug.

During our conversation she commented on the little wooden cross that I wear, she said she liked it. I asked if she would want one, and she said she would. I reached into my pocket and pulled one of the small wooden crosses out of my pocket and gave it to her. I did get a big hug and a thank you.

Prior to going to the cracker store it came to me to take an extra cross with me just in case someone would want one.

Other events for the day: arriving back at home after lunch I was able to rest from all the strain of eating all that good food. Then it was decided that we would attempt to wash the dog, and he seemed to like it. After the washing of the dog my favorite wife pulled some weeds and trimmed a bush in the back 40, while I cleaned the hummingbird feeders. I also filled them with a red sweet liquid and rehung them in their places.

I also picked up sticks from the back 40, yes there was sticks on the ground again, never any rest for ole people, and I have a photo.

I believe these were cut and left hanging in the tree when the tree trimmers were here, and they were blown out due to the heavy wind yesterday. I did get a photo of a rose.

We did sit outside yesterday afternoon enjoying a restful time and the very nice weather. I guess I should stop and go get Alex for school, we hope you have a very nice day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

Pretty blooms.
