It is a nice morning and also a burrito morning, so I say good morning to you all. I have been asked to provide the grandkids with breakfast burritos this morning, to be eaten as we drive to school, and I might get one for myself. You guessed it, I will need to leave even earlier as I need to drive to the burrito place to purchase the burritos, and they have some of the best and hottest hot sauce around.

Yesterday’s few events: I did go to the skin doctor and she said all looked good, come back in six months or a year. Wow, since it was my choice, I picked eight months, and I will be 78 years old in that month.

Back at home I did work on the parts to the bird house, I now think I have the front and back angles correct, so I can use these pieces as patterns to make duplicates and eventually put the houses together. I want to use a chop saw instead of the table saw to cut the other boards, I find it easier to use in this type of cutting.

We did sit outside for a while after the bird house work yesterday, the weather was nice. Then we headed out for supper and that was filling.

Today; I need to water the plants in the hot house as this will be the last very nice and warm day for a while. I think there is a lot of cold weather coming and they keep saying we might get some snow. The kids our out of school next Monday and the president will be inaugurated.

I got the kids to school safe and on time, the traffic was crazy. I will stop now; we hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

Snow coming, I doubt it.

January 16, 2025

We think it is a good morning, we were able to get out of bed, so, I assume that is a good morning. I am getting a late start this morning so I will stop and go get the grand kids and hopefully return to continue this posting.

Lest go over the big thing that happened yesterday, and I mean big. My favorite wife went to Wally world and to the HEB to purchase some groceries yesterday, when she returned home, we begin to unload the van and she noticed that she did not have her purse. Yep, she must have left the purse in the grocery cart sitting on the parking lot.

At this point panic was sitting in. I said let’s go back now and see if someone had turned your purse in to the lost and found, or, has it vanished. The drive back to the HEB seemed extremely slow even though traffic was moving at the normal pace. We got on the parking lot and drove past the area where she had parked, no carts with a purse were seen, so I dropped her off at the door and went to find a parking space. I said that I would park and come in as soon as I could. I made two rounds in the parking lot and could not find a spot fairly close to the door. Suddenly my phone rang and I looked at the display on the dash, it was a call from my favorite wife’s phone. As soon as I seen it was her phone, I knew she had her purse back.

They told my favorite wife that one of the employees who brings the carts from the parking lot back into the store, found her purse and turned it in. She wanted to offer a reward to the person that found her purse, but they told her they do not do that.

Varied topics: we did sit outside after returning from getting the purse, it was a pleasant time, for various reasons.

Earlier yesterday I came out of the house intending to replace a security camera. Somehow I became distracted (is it attention deficit disorder) and brought the table saw out of the garage and started cutting the scrap wood to make the pieces of a bird house. I want to have all the pieces cut to the correct size and angles, then I can use them as my pattern to cut more pieces. I may need to put these pieces together temporarily to be sure in my ole head that I have them to the correct size.

Now this ole person sometimes begins to think about things and this time I was thinking about the word, “ours”. I think it means things that belong to us. Then I thought why could one letter totally change the meaning of the word. If we place a “y” in front of the word we get the word “yours”. So, one letter takes our stuff away from us, and it becomes yours. How many hours (wow another letter changed things) did I sit around thinking about this?

Should I stop, maybe I should and let you get back to your daily routine. Please be safe in all you do and have a good day.

Word salad.

January 15, 2025

Good morning to you and to that other person too. We hope everyone will have a good and restful day, if not for you, at least for my favorite wife and I.

Yesterday’s work load for two ole people: I did get the kids to school on time and returned home and rested for a while before heading out into the cold to work. I did layer up and I stayed warm even in the cold. It did warm up outside as the day progressed.

Putting Christmas decorations away.

My first project was to get the items out of the Shed. In the following photo we may see items that I had removed from the shed.

That was not everything I removed from the shed. As I removed items, I did take them to the garage, photo to follow. Empty cartons waiting at the door of the garage to be filled.

I have another photo of the inside of the garage, past the boxes.

We worked together about 4 hours to get things packed up and returned to the shed. In the next photo we see the shed which is now filled. I have the Christmas items at the back, then the fall items, then the easter items, them my tools. That allows me to get to the items as needed.

I did get the Ford’s ole van back into the garage.

We were and are both tired and need a few minutes or maybe a day to rest. I should note, that after we completed yesterday’s tiring work, we remembered that there are two Christmas decorations on the front porch. We did not attempt to remove them yesterday, maybe today we will have the energy. I should also note, that my favorite wife has removed, packed and put away all the decorations that were in the house, and there were many more in the house than outside.

This morning our ole bodies are still tired and aching as we attempt to get started moving. As usual I need to get the grand kids to school this morning and my favorite wife will do the grocery shopping. Never any rest for the ole senior people

I will stop for now, we hope you have a restful day, and that we all stay safe in all we do.

Is it almost over? That is, Christmas over?

January 14, 2025

It is a cold and dark good morning. Yep, it is 26 degrees outside, and it is still dark as I start this short post.

I have very little to present this morning as I did very little yesterday. We are starting another cold day and I will not want to go outside and work. We did have a good bible study last night; a good friend and neighbor came to the study, and he was in our discussion group.

I did see a bright star or something in the sky last night when I arrived home from the bible study. It was not moving, and it was very bright. The photo isn’t the best, but it gives you an idea of the star.

            T
he full moon was also very bright last night, but not in the photo.

I just got back from dropping the kids off at school and it is still cold outside. Well, I guess I will head outside as soon as it warms up a little and unload the shed then start bringing the cartons and totes to the garage. We are hoping to get the garage cleared of the decorations today and the shed re-stacked withal the items. It will be a lot of work for two ole people.

We hope you have a good day, please stays safe and try to be happy in all you do.

January 13, 2025

Good morning it is cool outside but not freezing. The Don is back on a normal schedule this week, I will be taking the kids to school and we restart the Bible study tonight.

Now I need to get started on getting the decorations out of the garage and into cartons, so I can put them back in the shed. I need to do that this week; not sure I will start today.  We are supposed to have fair weather this week so I need to get going, the weather next week is predicted to be very bad. I just thought I have a doctor’s appointment this week for a checkup.

I did get a photo of the full moon this morning while the Tres and I was out front, so I thought I would present it to you.

There is a small cloud next to the moon and I see a star high up in the sky.

We did very little yesterday, we did go out for lunch, I took the decoration off the mail box and I work on a couple list that I have in the computer.

Yesterday I talked about the door lock replacement and now the lock on the door that goes into the garage is acting bad. It is the same type lock as the other one was, and they were probably installed at the same time. I need to review all the door locks before I start replacing them.

I need to get started so I will say, have a good day, be safe in all you do, and think good thoughts all day.

Mooned again.

January 12, 2025

It seems to be a good morning for most of us, but I have already been working.

The story of my early morning work goes like this. The senior ole person was awakened from his sleep by his sometimes friend, Tres. Yes, it was almost 5:30am when I was brought out of my deep sleep by the feeling of a dog rubbing against the side of my bed. Naturally I assumed that this sometime friend wanted to go out back for a short time then he wanted to be feed.

I was able to get my ole senior body to roll out of the bed as I was looking for my house shoes, and I headed to the toilet for a little relief. After a rest period in the rest room, I was able to drag my ole body to the back door where I found it was locked. Now the door lock had not been working for a while and I was too lazy to change it, so we have been using a device that pushed against the door knob and went to the floor to blocked the door from opening. Well, I found the door was locked and the device was against the door knob. I removed the device but I could not unlock the door. I tried again and again but could not unlock the door.

Tres was standing there watching me become frustrated as to why the door was locked. I then decide to attempt to remove the door knob so I went out into the cold garage to get a screwdriver. When I began to attempt to unscrew the two screws, I found that I did not have enough light to see properly, so I then went and procured a flash light. It was very difficult to unscrew the screws and hold the flash light at the same time, and Tres would not help me.

At this point I decided to take Tres out the front door so he could have some relief, aka water the grass. Returning to the work I was able to get one screw out and the other was unscrewed a little, and then it pushed through and the door knob came off in my hand. I was still unable to get the door open so I thought, “I should go outside and see if I can get the door open using the outside knob”. I went through the garage to the outside and around to the back door but I still could not get the door open.

I then returned to the garage and came back into the house where I was able to get the other screw to unscrew. I was then able to remove more parts of the lock and eventually able to get the door open. I finished removing the other parts to the lock, and by the way I have replaced locks in the past so I did know what I was doing, even though I was not enjoying it.

Door knob all removed I headed back out into the garage and the work started again. I had to move two carts away from the cabinets that in years in the past I had installed. I then needed to move a coat rack that I made years ago and a container that was on wheels that had some walking sticks that I had made in times past. The two push brooms had to be moved before I could get to the draws where I believed I had a door knob set.

Well, I did find a door knob set even though it was not for entrance doors (no key), it was an inside door knob set. I was happy with the fact that it installed fairly easy, and now we can again open and shut the door.

At this point I began to clean up and put items back in their places, including the items in the cold garage. All in all, it took about 1 hour to complete this process. Wow, what a way to start the morning.

Yesterday’s events: we had plans to have lunch with our son Dave and his family but we learned that he was not feeling well and had a slight fever, so lunch was postponed. My favorite wife and I went into normal Saturday mode with very little if anything happening that would be interesting to you, oh I did water the plants in the hot house yesterday afternoon, and according to the thermometer it was over 90 degrees inside the hot house when I was watering.

After watering the plants, I did remove sticks from the back yard, I did cut up the big limb that was out back and I did remove a few sticks from the front yard.

Not sure what we will do today; we may go to the cracker store for lunch. We hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

January 11, 2025

It is freezing outside (26) and we are inside, so we wish you a good morning. Saturday means I don’t take the kids to school. I guess we are on the Saturday schedule, you know, things that should be done, but are not done. The decorations are still in the garage, and need to be boxed up, but it has been cold and we don’t want to go into the garage while it is cold. We are missing out on our sitting outside due to the cold weather.

Friday, I did drive my favorite wife into Waco where she did some shopping, we picked up the cookie for David’s birthday and I will attempt to provide a photo.

We are planning on lunch to celebrate Daves birthday, I am not sure where he will want to go for lunch.

The cold weather should warm up later today to about 50 degrees and the sun is supposed to be shining. That should make it warm enough in the hot house for me to water the plants. When Tres and I went out to the front yard we could see that all the houses in the neighborhood had frost on their roofs. I just looked at the security camera monitor and the sun is starting to shine.

I wish I had something to talk about but I don’t so I will say have a good day, be safe in all you do, think positive thoughts.

January 10, 2025

Is it a good morning? Yes, it is, it is not below freezing outside and the roads are not slick, so yes, it is a Good Morning! Oh, I should say my sister in Missouri sent a text saying it was snowing this morning. Another weather-related item, we have 1.25 inches of rain water in the Ford’s ole free rain gage.

What kind of day did we have yesterday, he asked. Well, it started out ok, I got the kids to school on time and safely, there was no bad winter weather at that time. I returned home and did very little except watch TV and they were showing the same stuff over and over. It is really bad what has happened to those people in California who lost their houses in the fires, but I get tired of seeing the same stuff over and over. It is like seeing the political crap over and over. I know what you are going to say, “then don’t watch it!” You are correct, but there is nothing that I want to see on TV, and very little for an ole person to do, so I sit there and get irritated.

A totally different subject: Two power drops yesterday 113V and then 115V. I was sitting here at the Ford’s ole computer and the lights blinked, the battery backup system made a sound which caught my detention I mean attention. The power dropped to 113 volts, then back up to 121 volts, then it dropped again to 115 volts, then back up to 121 volts. I thought, well here it comes, “a power outage”, but luckily the power stayed on.

Subject swap: I did take my favorite wife to the store as she needed to get something and then to the pharmacist to get a prescription. It got me out of the house for a while. We did decide to go out to supper even though it was raining. We agreed that if we did not get a parking space close to the front door we would just drive on back home as we did not want to be walking in the heavy rain. Well, we did get a parking space at the front door, it seems that no one wanted to get out in the bad weather to eat supper.

The lady who is a waitress there, talks with us every time we go, came up to us and said, “I did not expect to see you here tonight with all the bad weather”. We told her we were going to not stop if we did not get a parking space near the door. Then she asked, “do you want the usual drinks”, to which we responded, “yes please”. There were very few people there when we arrive and when we left.

Since it was cold and wet outside, we left Tres inside the house while we were gone. I did turn the radio on so he had some voices to hear while we were gone.

Today is Friday and I have no plans for the day. I may ask my favorite wife if she will let me drive her around town today, that would get me out of the house for a while. Our youngest son will be 50 years old this Saturday, so we will be going out to lunch to celebrate.

Well, I need to get going and take the kids to school.

I am back and they got there on time and safe. There did not seem to be as many students as usual going to school today, were they late or staying home because of the old wet weather?

I guess I should stop and then get started doing something, so I will say have a good day, be nice to at least one person and try to stay safe in all you do.

January 9, 2025

Good morning again, I have gotten up later than usual for the last couple days and it throws my schedule off. I do get my breakfast sandwich eaten, but I did not get to do much toward the soon to be uninteresting posting. I have already taken the grand kids to school. We have not yet received any of the winter weather and it is above freezing this morning.

Yesterday’s uninteresting events; drove my favorite wife to two stores so she could purchase some groceries. She only met one friend this time while in the store shopping. Leaving the first store I stopped at the gas station and purchased some gas for the truck.

Heading for the second store I first stopped at the Coffee shop for a cup, the drive through was almost empty, then I stopped at the cleaners and dropped off some items to be cleaned.

Arriving at the large parking lot for the groceries I told my favorite wife that we would get a parking space near the door of the store. My prediction was correct, there was a handicapped space very close to the entrance. I stayed in the vehicle and watched all the people going and coming to the store. I was able to enjoy the cup of coffee while I waited for my favorite wife’s return.

On our drive to the homestead, we stopped at the Chicken place and purchased some chicken for lunch. Back at home we ate our lunch and after a short nap I proceeded out into the cold back 40 to the warm ole hot house, where I learned that I did not need to water the plants as they still had some damp dirt in the pots.

Work completed I decide to start the Fords ole van in an effort to charge the battery as the van has not been driven for several days and it is still sitting outside. I also added some windshield washer liquid to the van.

It was later in the afternoon before I sat down and read the bible. It was too cold to sit outside again yesterday.

This morning as I was taking the grand kids to school there was a few drops of rain on the windshield but not enough to use the wipers. If it stays above freezing all day we should only have rain and not any ice.

Stay indoors today!

January 8, 2025

Good morning to you all, I am getting a late start as I have just returned from dropping the grandkids off at school. I did get up a little late and I guess I was not in a hurry getting dressed.

I am trying to think if I did anything yesterday, and it doesn’t seem as if I did. Oh, I did go out to the shed and get the kerosene heater along with a two-gallon jug of kerosene. I have two heaters the one you will see in the photo is the small heater, the other is about twice as large.

Now one might wonder why I brought the heater to the house, since our furnace is working properly. They have been talking about winter type weather, aka snow, freezing rain, sleet and regular rain, for the next couple days. If we get the winter weather we could be without power, and no power means no heat. I keep the heater in the original carton in the shed and when I removed it, I found it had half a tank of fuel.

Not having seen the heater in quite a while, I decided to see if I knew how to light it. It doesn’t take long for the heater to provide a lot of heat. We hope the winter weather isn’t too bad and that everyone keeps their power on.

Today I need to get gas in the Ford’s ole Chevy, I need to drop some clothes off at the cleaners. My favorite wife will be going to get groceries today, she may allow me to take her and even help her, maybe not.

I might need to water the plants in the hot house, I think I did it last week on Thursday, and I try to water once a week. Tomorrow being Thursday and the most likely day for bad weather and or rain all day, maybe I should try to water today.

Well, I need to stop for now, please have a good day and try to be safe in all you do, as you are being positive about many things, even the weather!

Heater ready.

January 7, 2025

It is another cold morning and I have to go outside in the cold to get the grandkids off to school. Yesterday was the coldest day we have had this entire year, and I do not like cold weather. Photo of the frozen water.   (this year is 7 days long)

Both the cat and dog water were frozen yesterday, the coldest day this year!

Cold or not, I will still wish you a good morning and a good day.

What did the Donald do yesterday? Well, he did get the hair on his head trimmed and he was able to procure a cup of coffee from the Star coffee place. Back at home he did his daily reading of the bible, but he did not do any homework for his bible study class. When he had completed the reading his favorite wife allowed him to take her shopping with him.

The Don needed some antifreeze for the Ford’s ole Chevy and some windshield washer liquid. We needed a couple other things so we went to the Wally world. We found all but one item so we headed into Waco as we wanted to see the new E-bike store. On the way we stopped at the Harbor store and I purchased a box of vinyl gloves.

I tried to find a way to down town Waco on some roads that I was not familiar with, where the e-bike shop is located. We drove around but did not find the shop, I did not know the actual name of the shop, and I did not know the address.

We started back to our home and on the way, we stopped at the sandwich shop and got a couple sandwiches and drinks to go. The sandwiches were for supper and the drinks were for the trip home.

Different topic; while I am sitting here at the desk, I can see that a couple of the cameras have some spider webs around them. It is easy to see them when the cameras are in night mode, during the day I can’t see them. I have been watching the temperature in the hot house trying to see where it will level off at. I would like it to stay in the mid to upper 40s, even though the outside temp will likely be in about 27 degrees.

When Tres and I went out to the front yard this morning it was cold. I did get a photo of some interesting clouds pre sunrise, which I will present to you.

While I was looking into the sky, I saw some lights moving over head. These lights I am sure were from a plane but there was no sound of a plane, and it went in a straight line, I can see how people would think it was a drone, I could see the lights but not the plane.

Well, I guess I will stop and go get the grandkids and take them to school, we hope you have a very good day and please stay safe in all you do.

January 6, 2025

Cold morning to you, I guess it is good, even though it is too cold to do anything. It is 24 degrees outside, and it is "the coldest day of the year!" Think about that comment for a minute.

Yesterday, we went to the cracker store for lunch and that is about it. My favorite wife worked all day at removing a bunch of our granddaughter stuffed bears from a closet and then placing Christmas decorations in the closet. I have a photo of the bears and other things on the bed. These items consist of Care Bears, Cabage Patch Dolls and My Little Pony's.

I sat around watching TV most of the day.

I did cover the back faucet and that was a real problem. On the faucet I had a device that would allow me to connect up to 4 hoses at the same time. Well, it has been there since last winter and it did not want to come off the faucet, even when I used a pair of pliers. I used some WD-40 and after a while and some straining, I did get it off.

There was a fairly large limb down in the back 40, due to the very heavy wind we are having, so I did move it over by the trailer. I have noticed the wind is blowing the leaves from one person's yard to another person's yard, many of our leaves have left, and many have arrived.

Different topic: the grandkids start school again on Tuesday so I will be taking them to school again, that means I have one more day off, then I will be back on a daily schedule again.

I need to get my hair cut if I can find enough money. When I was a "children" a haircut cost $1.00, now the hair cut cost $20.00, but seniors get a discount, and it is only $17.00.

It was too windy and cool to sit outside yesterday, so I watch mor TV.

Well, I have nothing else to present, so we wish you a good day and hope everyone stays safe in all we do.

Too cold for me.

January 5, 2025

Good warm morning to everyone, yes, even you get a good morning. As I stated it is warm outside but the prediction is for very cold weather starting this afternoon and going on during the week.

What we did yesterday; I picked Alex up about 9:00am and we went to the coffee place for a cup, then we headed to the Fords' Homestead. Arriving back at home Alex went to the shed and got the ladder and brought it to the house where he removed the lights from along the roof and then around all the flower beds.

Once the lights had been removed and marked, (they were marked so we would know which one to put up first, second and third, next year), we dismantled the manger. Now I took it apart and there were 4 pieces, "top, back and two sides". We then used battery powered drills to remove the screws. I should note the screws were mostly ole screws that had been used before, and many of the heads were stripped, making it very difficult to remove the screws. We put the usable wood on the ole wagon, and the unusable wood int the trash can. Alex did use the hand saw to cut a couple boards into smaller pieces for the trash can.

Work completed we put the tools away, washed up and then headed into Waco for lunch. the prices of the sandwiches have changed but the sandwiches were good. We did stop at the cheap store but did not purchase anything, then we dropped Alex off at home.

We were on the way to our house when we received a call from Dave asking if we could pick them up at the tire store. They had found that one of their tires had a problem so they decided to replace the tires on their vehicle. We drove back in to Waco and picked Dave and Claire up from the tire shop, and took them home.

Back at my home I took a well-deserved nap.

About 3:30 Dave called and wanted me to take them back into Waco to the tire shop to get their vehicle. I drove them back into Waco to the tire shop and dropped them off and I returned to my home.

As you can see, yesterday was another nothing to do day.

Today's plans: cover the water faucet out back, maybe go to lunch, take a nap or two, sit around and complain about nothing being on TV.

Well, we hope you have an interesting and fun day, please be nice to old people and that other person, you know who I am referring too, then be safe in all you do.

Cold coming.

January 4, 2025

We are having a good Saturday morning here at the Homestead, we hope you all are too. Saturday is a day of rest for us here at the Ford’s homestead, so we will get our yard man Alex to come over and do some work for us. We have some Christmas lights that we will allow him to remove from the house and yard, we want to allow him to take the manger apart. Some of the boards on the ole manger may be used to create some bird houses. If there is any time left, we may allow him to remove some leaves from the front yard.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside with a friend yesterday afternoon, the weather was nice until the sun started going down, then it cooled down.

I assume that Alex will need a drink from the Star coffee company when I go to pick him up this morning, and we will likely take him out to lunch with us after the work is completed.

Different topic: I started going through some of the things I had written in years past and I found several that are interesting. There is one that is titled “Hell on Earth”. I read through it, and I got to the third day, and I learned the story was not complete. The story is a fiction story, but it could be a real event and if so, we would all agree that hell was on earth. Before you ask, it is not a bible story.

Other thoughts: have you ever thought about feeling lonely, well I have a photo of what I think might be considered as lonely.

Now if might be difficult to see, but there is a black bird on the top limb of that tree and he / she is all alone, aka lonely.

Well, I guess that is it for now, we hope you have an interesting and fun day, please stay safe in all you do.

January 3, 2025

Well, it is still dark outside as I begin this soon to be uninteresting article about things I do, don’t do, or have thought about. But first I would like to wish everyone a good morning and an interesting day.

Now, allow me to comment on the retirement meeting that happened at my ole past employer. Both of the people retiring were people that started while I was manager, and both seemed happy that they were retiring. When a person retires from my ole employer the company gives them credits for each year they worked. Now the credits are for purchases from the distribution center after they retire, and these two received $50 for each year they worked, so 25 years equals $1,250.00. Things have changed; when I retired, they credited me with 40 years of service and I received $10 for each year I worked or $400.00.

It was a good meeting and we were able to visit with some retirees that we had not seen in several years.

Now allow me to alter the subject; yesterday I proceeded to remove decorations from the front yard, and placed them in the garage. In this process I decided to take the wooden manger and destroy it as it is in bad condition. Now in making this decision I determined I could take the boards apart and possibly use them to build bird houses. So, I took a couple photos of the ole manger and did some measuring, I even made a note of the dimensions and a quick drawing.

Later I decided to see if I could find the drawings and instructions for building a bird house, yes, I make notes of things I create. Scans to follow.

While I was looking for the drawings I went through several other notes and drawing I had made in the past such as the time I built the fort for the grand kids. One of the things that caught my attention was a short story I had written back in December of 2020, titled “The Watchers”. Now the story is only about 7 pages long and if you have read the bible, you may be aware that there is some info about The Watchers.

Now when I found this story I started reading it and even though I had written it 5 years ago, it was still interesting to me. How can someone as silly as me write something like that. Yes, I have written other stories too.

Today; it is wet outside due to some fog and drizzle, so I don’t have any outside activities planned other than maybe water the plants in the hot house. We are told that after this Sunday we will be in a period of cold weather, so I probably need to connect the heater in the hot house instead of using heat lamps.

Another ambition for the Don today is to look through more of my notes and see if I can find some of the other short stories I have written.

Well, I have bored you long enough, I will say good day and please be safe in all you do.

January 2, 2025

Did you make it through the first day of the year, we did, and we wish you a good morning and we hope your whole year is a happy new year.

Nothing to report from the Ford homestead, we did very little yesterday. My favorite wife went to the store and purchase some groceries and other needed items, while I stayed at home attempting to remove some of the wiring that was connected to the decorations out front. I was able to get all the decorations disconnected and some of the wires removed, this evening none of the outside Christmas decorations should come on.

I did put the leg lamp away and, in the process, I found several sweat shirts and jackets that I had forgotten that I had put away. One of the sweat shirts had 4 cents in the pocket, wow I have money to spend.

My wife and I did sit outside for a while much earlier than usual, it was nice but a little cool.

I did speak to the neighbor lady and she told me all about her husband’s condition and that he is doing better now. I told her we were keeping them in our prayers.

I don’t know when we will start to remove the outside decorations, when we start, I will need to get the cartons and totes from the shed so we can repack the items. It will take a while and now that the weather is cooler it will probably be very uncomfortable work.

We are planning on going out to work this morning for a piece of cake. They will be celebrating two staff members who are retiring. I worked with both of them and I want to wish them the best in their retirement.

I guess I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

New year, old people.

January 1, 2025

This is my first good morning this year and I hope to have many more. We are starting out a little chilly and the day is not expected to warm up.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday afternoon for about an hour, the weather was nice but a little cooler than we normally like.

What did the Don do yesterday; Well, he did go to the bank to deposit a check, now we have $5.00 in the account, wow, we have money in the account, again! After stopping at the bank, I also went to the star coffee place for a free cup. When you get a gift card for Christmas to the coffee place, you can enjoy a cup of free coffee.  I then came home and tried to rest but for various reasons, my attempts at resting were being interrupted, so I decided to go out and remove leaves from the back 40. Before I got started, I hung the flag at half-mast honoring the past president, Carter.

Yes, Tres has to be in every photo I take.

Back to the removal of leaves from the back 40. There were 4 piles that I had made using the riding mower on Monday, along with leaves that had not been blown into piles. In the photo to follow we can see some of the leaves piled up, they do not look like a lot but there was enough that I worked about 2.5 hours and filled 8 large bags.

I have an after shot of part of the area vacuumed.

Different topic: this is the first day of the new year and many people have certain foods to eat which are to provide good luck in the new year. Here at the Ford homestead, it is black eyed peas cooked with a ham hock.

Speaking of the new year, my favorite wife and I were both in bed before 10:00pm. And a couple minutes after midnight we were both woken up with the sound of fire works going off in the distance. Tres does not like fireworks so we stayed awake attempting to help him stay calm. It was after 1:00am before I was allowed to return to my sleep.

Today, I will attempt to disconnect the power cords to the outside decorations and I might move a few from the front yard to the garage, that all depends on how much energy I can muster up.

Well, I guess I will say so long for now, please be safe in all you do, and try to be nice to ole all people.
