Good morning from the Fords of Hewitt Tx. We hope your day is starting off in a positive manner, we are getting some lite rain this morning.

Let’s see if there were any events yesterday; I did get the Alex to school on time and safely. Later in the morning my favorite wife had a doctor’s appointment. We left the house a little early and headed to the bank teller machine where we got our weekly stipend. Then we headed to the Star coffee place so I could get a cup before heading to the doctor. The Star coffee place had cars in the drive through, all around the building so I drove on by. It was too early to head to the doctor, so I headed to another Star coffee place where I did get a cup of coffee. Now, we were headed to the doctor’s office a little early. My favorite wife said if we got there early, she might get in early.

We did make it early and I sat in the waiting room as she did the mammogram. I should note; they had a coffee machine in the waiting room, free coffee, but I already had a paid for cup. She did get in early and when she came out, we headed for the Ford’s ole truck. When we got into the truck, I noticed that it was two minutes before her appointment time. Yes, she got in and out before her appointment time.

Happy with those results we headed into Waco for a lunch sandwich. The sandwich and fries were good, then we headed to the cheap store. I thought they might have some fire ant killer, but they did not, I did purchase another clock with the president’s face on it.

Back at home I did ride the new trike up and down the street a couple times and I did my bible study homework. All that completed I did take a break for a few minutes, aka nap, and then I went outside where I moved a big flowerpot from the back 40 to the front yard. This pot had fire ants in it when we brought it out of the shed, so I had sprayed it with bug spray a couple times and the ants seem to be gone, so I took it to the front yard and placed it near the sidewalk.

That completed I did get the hose out and water the berry beds and the flowers in the back 40 then I went to the front yard and watered the flowers. I do have a photo of some blooms.

Different subject: I received a photo of a tornado that happened in Missouri this week, so I thought I would post it. This was in Delta Missouri, and it was heading toward Cape.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday afternoon and there was an unusual event, a street sweeper came down our street. Now the neighbor across the street had swept the leaves and debris off the street in front of his house the day before, we got ours removed free yesterday and no work involved, photo of our curb to follow.

Our curb is as clean as the neighbors, and he did all the work.

Different topic: when we were at the cheap store I purchased another clock with the president’s face on it. When our neighbors from down the street was driving by, I flagged them down and presented them with a clock. Our neighbor’s wife seemed to like the clock, not sure about her husband.

I have another photo which shows the pollen that has been in the air the last few days. The yellow on the cement driveway is the pollen that was washed off the top of the car port.

Wow, it seems as it we had several things happen yesterday. I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and we want everyone to stay safe in all we do.

Pollen is everywhere.

April 3, 2025

We think it is another good morning, but that may depend on where you are. We learned yesterday that a tornado had hit part of the town we use to live in back in Missouri. We pray that everyone stays safe through the day.

Our big plans for today are to get Alex to school on time and to take my favorite wife to the doctor for her mammogram. We will go to the same building that I went to yesterday but on a different floor. The doctor that I saw yesterday said I get hoarse do to the fact that I am getting old. Wow, what an evaluation, I am getting old.

We did very little yesterday after returning home from the doctor. I did do some of the homework for bible study and later in the afternoon we did sit outside with a couple neighbors and enjoyed the nice weather. Those neighbors did have a nice tree removed from their yard and it looks bare now, that said, they might plant another tree near the location of the previous tree. Why did they get rid of the previous tree, they did not like to clean up the leaves and acorns that would fall from the tree.

I guess I should get going so I will say have a good day and be safe in all you do.

Storms be bad.

April 2, 2025

Good morning to all, we hope your day is starting off well. I need to get started early today as I will be going to the doctor this morning after dropping Alex off at school.

Let’s see if there was anything interesting from yesterday. I can’t think of anything interesting; the neighbor had his tree cut down from his front yard, I did get to talk with another neighbor who has stage 4 cancer. He has already lived 2 months past the date that the doctor had given him to live, and he is doing pretty good. We keep him in our prayers, and he keeps us in his prayers.

I was at my desk reading from the Bible when Molly, our cat, decided to get on the desk. After some walking around and getting petted, she decided to lay down and take it easy, photo to follow.

We now have a new bike or should I say trike, I do have a photo.

Now you know what was in the big ole box that was shown in a previous posting. As you can see it has big fat tires, it does have a headlight and a taillight, you can pedal it, or you can just use the electric motor to ride around on. I think they said it could go 20 mph, but the fastest I have been able to make it go was 15 mph. It is much easier to ride on the street than in the yard. I did ride the trike up and down the street several times yesterday trying to get use to it.

Other than the doctor’s visit I do not have any big plans for today.

Well, I guess I should stop for now and take it easy for a while. We hope you have a good day and are safe in all you do.

Where did they come up with April Fool’s Day? In years past I remember attempting to fool others with some type of joke, it usually did not work. Now, being an ole person, I guess I am the joke, but at least I am something. Allow me to wish you a good morning and a happy April first day.

Yesterday was a day off from doing much of anything. I did my bible study homework, and I did a little housework like vacuuming, and that is about it. Today I am back on schedule, you know, get Alex and take him to school then sit around and do very little. The weather is supposed to be getting stormy later this week and we should get some needed rain.

Different subject: on the so-called news programs on TV, they occasionally interview someone who has supposedly done something interesting. If you take the time to pay attention you will likely understand that the interview was a commercial. They interview this person and whatever it is they have accomplished, usually turns out to be a book they have written or a business they have established. Now I think it is good that people start businesses and write books, but the commercials should be out right commercials and interviews should not turn into commercials. I see and hear enough commercials every day.

Different subject: Our Moon Plant was recently moved from the hothouse to its outside resting place. Now this plant does not bloom often, and it blooms at night. Well, I guess it likes the outside resting place, because it bloomed. I have a photo showing you a closeup of the bloom.

Well, I need to get started to get Alex so I will say have a good day and be safe in all you do.

Mooned again.

March 31, 2025

This it the last day in March, I use to march when I was in the National Guards. Those two Marchs might be different, so I will stop with that and say, “Good Morning to all”.

Let’s see if anything happened yesterday: Nope, nothing happened yesterday except, we did go out for lunch and after filling our bodies with good food, we went to make sure we knew where to go for my next doctor’s appointment. We found the building where we remembered it being. I will go there on Wednesday to be checked out and my favorite wife goes to a different doctor at the same building the next day.

After locating the building, we headed to the cheap store where my favorite wife purchased a couple things. Returning home the weather was nice so we stayed outside. My favorite wife took it easy in the ole swing while I worked on a project in the garage. As time passed, I also relaxed but, in the shade, while she sat in the sun. Eventually I had to get up and water the plants, but I failed to water those out front, I will do that today.

While we were out there the neighbor girl, and her little brother came over to visit. They both gave Tres a couple treats, and they both went out into the back 40. They like the back yard for some reason.

I do have a photo of the new pecan trees starting to produce some leaves. This tree we believe, was planted by the squirrels in our flower bed, so we left it there. It will take a while for this tree to produce pecans, I assume the new owner will appreciate the tree.

Speaking of trees, the front yard was filled with new red oak trees before Alex mowed. These get planted by the squirrels and by us stepping on them and pushing them into the ground.

Speaking of today, I don’t need to get Alex and take him to school, they have the day off. No, I don’t know why they have the day off, I just know they are off. I do need to double check my bible study homework as we have a meeting tonight. We are getting close to spring break in our studies, yes, we get a spring break like the school kids do.

I guess that is all for today, we hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

March 30, 2025

Well, here we are back at Sunday again. It may be sun day, but it isn’t starting off sunny, there is thunder and lightning off in the distance and there is some lite rain showing up on the driveway.

Now that I think about it, I may have made a good decision yesterday. What was the good decision that the Don may have made, let’s look into that later in this article, but for now we will get started with, “what events may have occurred yesterday”, by Don the Ford.

The day started with me going to get our yard man Alex and after visiting the Star coffee place we arrived at the Ford Homestead where we actually did some work.

First, we headed to the hot house where we, I mean Alex began removing the flowers. Some of the flowers went to the front yard while others were located in the back 40 and still others were located near the ole swing where we sit in the afternoon. We did leave a couple flower near the hot house as some were not in good condition and one nice flower with blooms all over it had fire ants in it. We did spray it a couple times with bug killer, and we will check it later today. Alex did notice a bug that we have a photo of.

That work completed, Alex started the weed trimming in both the front and back yards while I removed debris from the back 40. There were again small limbs and Poopa-Loopa in areas of the back 40. With the weed trimming completed, the flowers move, and the debris removed, we considered the work done. Now we would normally head out to Waco to get a sandwich for lunch but since someone needed to stay at the homestead to sign for an expected delivery, my favorite wife volunteered to go in to Waco, get the sandwiches and bring them to the homestead where we had our lunch.

The grass in the yard was still wet from the rain, and I do not like to mow in wet grass, so after eating I took Alex back to his house. We had agreed that he would come over Monday an do the mowing.

Arriving back at the homestead I noticed the delivery truck was on our street. As he drove toward our house, I motioned to the driver to stop at our driveway, and he did. We unloaded the carton and I signed for the delivery. The carton was kind of large and I do have a photo of me next to the carton.

Why are you looking at all the stuff in the garage around me when you are supposed to look at the large carton.

Now let’s return to the good decision that the Don made yesterday afternoon. It was about 3:00pm when I noticed that the grass was dry and ready to be manicured. I decided to call the Alex and see if he would be willing to return to the homestead and mow the grass. He was working with his dad in the yard when I called so he decided to finish working with his dad and then he would come over and mow. I must say he did an excellent job of mowing, and I did not get involved at all. Why I say it was a good decision to get him to come back and mow, it is raining again today, and it might tomorrow.

As for today events, we may be able to afford lunch out and we might drop by the cheap store to see if they have anything we might need. It the weather allows us to get outside later today we will probably be relaxing outside this afternoon, all are welcome to visit with us.

Well, I guess I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and as usual, be safe in all you do.

Rain be good!

March 29, 2025

It is a good Saturday morning here in Hewitt TX. We did get more than ½ inch of rain yesterday but not quite ¾ inch. Every plant is saying thanks for the rain.
Speaking of rain, I have a photo I took yesterday morning prior to going to get Alex for school. This bloom was standing big and bright even though it was cloudy and raining.

I was not sure which photo you would like, so I posted both.
The big plan for today was to do the yard work, but due to the rain and wet grass, we will only do a couple things. First, we will get the flowers out of the hot house, and properly position them, then we will use the string trimmers to trim the front yard and the back 40. Our yard man Alex does not have school on Monday, so we will probably have the grass mowed then.
Speaking of Alex, I need to go get him and bring him here so he can do all my work.
I have ordered an item for my favorite wife, and it is supposed to be here today. They say we must sign for this item, and it will be delivered by FedEx. The item will be in a large carton, and I have the two-wheeler in the garage for easy handling. Since we must be here to sign for the item, that might delay us from going into Waco for our usual sandwich lunch.
Topic change: when Tres and I went out front this morning I could feel some mist in the air. I hope the rain holds off for a little while, so we can do our yard work today. We need more rain, but maybe it will hold off for a couple hours.
I guess I should stop for now, we hope you have a good day and please be safe in all you do.
Spring blooms are starting.

March 28, 2025

I would like to say good morning to all, and I hope it is, but I am using the new computer, and I must think about what I am doing to make anything happen. Hay, we did get some rain yesterday and overnight, I do not know how much but there was one eighth inch at 5:30 yesterday. It does correct my grammar mistakes, so I guess that is good.
Yesterday was another do-nothing day for me. After doing my daily reading of the bible and my bible study homework, I did go out to the front porch to read from my chronological bible, but the wind was blowing a lite mist, and it was getting on the pages of the bible. The paper is very thin, and a drop of mist would show up, so I returned to the house.
My favorite wife and I did go out for supper last evening and the food was good as usual.
This morning, I did break a habit, I did not go out to the front yard with the Tres. We have been in the habit of going to the front yard every morning since he was a puppy. In the olden days we would get the newspaper and Tres would get it and bring it into the house after he checked the yard and watered the grass. We continued going out even though we no longer get the paper, and this morning I decided to stay inside, Tres looked at me like I had forgotten what I was doing. He even went to the front door, but we did not go out. Ole habits are hard to break.
Nothing planned for today, we hope the rain continues as we do need it. I hope it is dry enough tomorrow for the yard man Alex to do some yard work s I want to get all the flowers out of the hot house and the back 40 needs to be mowed.
I put the photo in just to see if I could do it on this new computer.
Well, I guess that is it for now, we hope you have a good day and that everyone stays safe in all we do.

March 27, 2025

It is still dark outside, and we hope you have a good morning. It is said to be cooler today than recent days with a temp of about 70 degrees.

I am writing this with the old computer even though the new computer is working. I haven’t been able to make a mailing list with the names and email address for each of you, so it is easier to use the old computer until I can create the list.

Yesterday was another do-nothing day for me, but even though I did nothing, I do have a few photos to provide for the non-reader in this group.

The first photo is of the first bloom I have seen this year on the black berries.

The next photo is of the rose bush which has several white blooms.

The last photo is of a new tree that is attempting to start next to the dog’s water bowl.

Yes, you must look closely to see the tree, and we will have many of them in the yard due to the Red Oak trees.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday afternoon, and the neighborhood was very quiet. There is a good chance we will go out for supper this evening, you know, date night.

The prognosticators started saying we would have rain today and tomorrow, but now they are reducing the amount that we might have, and I would bet that we get almost nothing, but we do need the rain.

Well, I need to get the Alex and take him to school so I guess I will say have a good day and be safe in all you do.

March 26, 2025

Good morning to all and Happy birthday to my sister in Missouri, I think she is 21 years old, “again”?

I did very little yesterday, but my favorite wife did a lot of work. I did move a couple items from the garage to the shed, I did move things around in the garage, heck I even swept some of the leaves and dust out of the garage. My favorite wife went through some cabinets in the garage and was able to toss out some items. One item she found is a heat gun, still in the original box, and it looks like brand new. I would like to give it to someone, but I guess I will put it in the trash as I don’t know anyone who needs a heat gun.

Everything put back in place in the garage we did rest outside for a while in the warm afternoon heat. I was able to get the plants in the hot house watered and as usual I did water the black berry plants. I think I had said there was 2 new berry bushes growing outside the #1 bed, and yesterday I found 5 new black berries starting outside the #2 bed.

Big plan for today, put the recycle bin out for the trash truck.

Photo of the day…      Molly has a tendency to get comfortable anyplace I am. I can take a nap in the Ford’s ole recliner and she will often jump up on the chair and lay on my lap.

Well, I need to get my mind focused on getting Alex to school on time and in a safe manner. We hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

March 25, 2025

We will start off with a good morning to one and all, we hope everyone has a good day.

I did very little yesterday, I did remove the small limbs that were left over from the tree limb removal Sunday. And I did get one flower out of the hot house. I will need to water all the flowers in the hot house today, and I hope to get them all out of the hot house this Saturday, if I can get Alex over here to help (aka do all the work).

We are supposed to have a record high for today of 92, and the record as I understand it for this date is 91.

          Politician’s verses leaders.

I understand that politics is how these people get into office, but once they are in the office, politics should go away and leadership should take over.

Leaders should do what’s right for the country and the people, not for their own “political power”. True Leaders, would not make decisions based on helping their supporters so they can stay in office.

We have the two main parties and they stay divided on most things. We need them to stop the divisional politics after the elections and get to work as a team to make things better for the country. There should be term limits on all elected positions.

Wow, I got that off my chest. Oh, I should note, the clock that I showed a photo of in yesterday post, just began to speak at 7:00am saying, “Make America Great Again, Make America Great Again”.

I guess I have presented enough this morning so I will say, “have a good day and please stay safe in all you do”.

March 24, 2025

We made it through the weekend, and we wish you a happy and good morning.

We had a good day yesterday; we did have lunch at the cracker store and after we went to the cheap store in Waco. At the cheap store we purchased several items one of which I have a photo for your enjoyment.

It is a 10-inch clock with the president's photo on it, and he says “Make America Great Again” twice, every hour. I have is set up to not say anything after 10:00pm through 5:00am.

Back at home I changed clothes as I needed to work in the back 40. Yes, I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt as it was hot. We have a tree that I had cut most of the way down, several years ago. Yes, I have a photo of the tree, but I had already removed some of the limbs before I took the photo.

When I had originally cut the tree down, I left about 8 feet of it standing, and even though the stump appears to be dead, limbs grow on it.

The other morning during one of our windy sessions I heard a sound which sound like a tree limb rubbing against another limb, so I started looking to see what was happening. I learned that this tall stump with limbs growing on it was cracked in the middle. I was afraid that it would break and fall on the #3 berry bed, so I decided to cut the limbs off.

After I had cut the limbs off, I pulled them to the trailer one at a time and cut them into pieces to put on the trailer, saving the heavier pieces to top load. The trailer appeared to be very full until I strapped it down which compressed the limbs.

There doesn’t appear to be much on the trailer with it all compress down.

Well, I have no real plans for today, maybe attempt to learn more about how to use the new computer, there are several things that are somewhat different from this ole unit, yes, I am using the old unit.

We hope you have a good day and be safe in all you do.

Sunday, March 23, 2025

March 23, 2025

Good morning to one and all, it is Sunday, and we hope you have a good day filled with love and kindness.

We had a good day yesterday, I don’t remember doing any work so it may have been an excellent day. Our son Patrick and his wife Karla came up for a visit yesterday, so we went out to lunch together. As a group we had decide to go to a Mexican restaurant, so I directed Patrick to a restaurant that my favorite wife and I use to go to when we first moved here some 40 plus years ago. Now my favorite wife and I drive past this restaurant almost every week and we often say we should come for a meal. Well yesterday we did go there. The lunch was good, and the service was good.

Returning home I was too full of food, and I wanted to take a nap, but with family there I did stay awake. I think I had explained that I have a new computer, and I allowed my son to get it set up for me. Now I could have probably set it up ok, but it would have taken me a lot longer than it took Pete (Pete is short for Patrick and a nick name). Oh, I am using the ole computer for this posting, and I will go to the new computer in a little while.

It is now a little while and I have turned the new computer on, photo of the desk to follow.

Yep, there is a bunch of stuff at, and on my desk.

Our son Dave and the family did not go to lunch with us yesterday as they had planned to do some work in their garage. As I understand it, they cleaned and reorganized the garage, they will be painting it soon and then installing some shelves.

We did sit outside for a while yesterday the weather was nice and warm, but it was still windy. I did remember I needed to water about five plants that are now sitting close to the ole swing, so I had to stop enjoying my adult beverage and get the hose to water the flowers. Wow, little rest for the ole people.

Today my favorite wife and I will probably go to the Cracker store for lunch and then do a lot of nothing the rest of the day, although I do need to take a couple items out of our garage to the ole shed.

Well, wish me good luck with the new computer as you have a good day, and please stay safe in all you do.

March 22, 2025

“Sat all day is here”, he said, as he sat all day the day before Saturday. Yesterday was a good day and we hope this is a good morning for you and that you and I have a good day.

I am sitting here attempting to remember what if anything, I did yesterday. I gave the birds out back some water, I did get my new computer, yep, they delivered it, and it isn’t broken. My neck and shoulder have been hurting some, and I think that is due to me being on my hands and knees pulling weeds at the #2 berry bed the day before. When I get on my hands and knees I should be praying and not pulling weeds.

My favorite wife and I did sit outside yesterday afternoon with a friend, we had some good discussion about the bible. The weather was good, and I thought the neighbors with the new convertible would have come over to tell us about the vehicle, maybe they will come over this afternoon.

Today's possible events: I did remove the ring doorbell, and it is being charged as I attempt to enter this data into the Ford’s ole computer. Noticed I mentioned the ole computer, but I did not say new computer. More about that in a minute or two.

Patrick and his lovely wife Karla are scheduled to come up today and we will likely have lunch together. It just happens that I have the new computer, and I have not yet attempted to use it. Possibly I will be able to get some help in getting the new unit working from our son Patrick.

Changing the topic a little; we do not know if Dave and his lovely wife along with their children will join us for lunch today, as he had noted that they were planning on cleaning and organizing their garage today.

I have a photo of the pot hound Tres; this time he is on his own bed.

Well, I guess I should stop for now and allow you to have some time doing something interesting. We hope you have a good day and that you stay safe in all you do.

March 21, 2025

It is a cool 43 degrees this morning but we still wish you a good morning. Plans for today, do nothing other than get the grandkid to school on time and safely.

Did I do anything yesterday, yes but even though I needed to, I didn’t want to, that is pull some weeds from the #2 berry bed. Now I did not get them all, and yes, I was on my knees attempting to remove these weeds, and I did fill the trash can I had with me with these weeds. Why did I pull these weeds, because my favorite wife was pulling weeds from a flower bed so I did not want her to feel as if she had to work alone.

We did go out for supper and later we did sit outside for about one hour enjoying the quiet neighborhood. Since you did not ask what I had for supper, I will inform you anyway. I had the chicken fajitas and they were good as usual. There is a thing that happens when I have the fajitas, as one may know, they are delivered to the table very hot and they have steam coming off them they are so hot. Well, the smell of the fajitas gets into my shirt and when I get home, I can smell the fajitas, so does Tres.

Different topic, our neighbors all seem to be wealthy as they do things like cruses several times each year, and most have really nice vehicles to drive. One neighbor had a camping trailer that he can pull behind his really nice big pickup, but he has plans to sell the trailer now that he has purchased a convertible. Wow neighbors who can do and have all these really nice things, I am glad I live in this neighborhood.

Well, I need to stop for now and get started over to the grandkids house, so I will say, “have a good day and please stay safe in all you do”.

Interesting neighbors.

March 20, 2025

It seems to be a good morning here in Hewitt, and we assume the sun will be coming up soon. I am making a late start this morning as I woke up later than usual. I will stop soon and then restart this soon to be boring, I mean interesting posting.

Did the Don do anything yesterday; he did take a short nap before heading out to get gas in the Ford’s ole Chevy, and while out he got a free cup of coffee from the star coffee place. Yes, he had enough points for a free cup.

When he returned home, cup in hand, he did his daily reading from the bible. When that was completed, he decided to water the plants in the hot house. You probably know, after watering the things in the hot house he started watering the berry beds and the flower beds. He even brought the plants out of the garage where they have been stored all winter in hibernation, and he also watered them.

As usual, there was debris in the back 40 from all the crazy winds we have been having, so he picked up as much as he could find, and he also trimmed some dead from the #3 berry bed. Mr. Ford also distributed bird food to some locations in the back 40, the birds seemed to appreciate that. The Don also went to the front yard where he filled the two bird baths with water and watered a few flowers. Speaking of flowers, we had one blooming and I have a photo.

We did sit outside for a while even though it was very windy, and it was a little cooler than usual. When we decided to return to the house, I was allowed to bring the flowers back into the garage as the temp last night was going to be down into the upper 30s.

Well now you know, the Don did nothing interesting again yesterday.

Different topic: allow me to define the word “Habits”, as I see it a habit is, “doing the same thing, the same way, at the same time, every day”. Now some of us don’t think that we are habitual creatures, but we are. For that person who does not believe, try eating a meal one hour earlier or one hour later, or don’t watch the TV show that you usually watch, or just turn the TV off for a couple hours and read something at a time when you normally watch TV.

I was thinking about how changing my daily routine is very difficult so I thought I would comment in this posting.

We hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do, and I will stop for now.

IS Spring springing?
