January 24, 2026

We want to say good morning, but it is so cold (17 degrees) I can hardly talk. Ok, you are correct, I am not talking I am entering data so I can state "good morning". We got something white in the ground and roads here in Hewitt. I have not been outside, so I do not know if it is snow or sleet. Look at the photo and you can decide.

At about 11:00am I decided to go to the cracker store and get our lunch yesterday. There was almost no one there. I spoke with the manager and asked if they were going to close early or not. I was asked how the streets were and I explained that they were ok and not icy yet. They said they might close before 4:00pm. The food was good and I used gift cards I received at Christmas, so someone else paid for the meal.

When I was reading from my bible study book it came to me that I should take a break. During the break I thought, I should fill the kerosene heater because it is only ¼ full of fuel. I went into the garage and got the fuel and a hand pump. I filled the tank with Kerosene and then I let go of the hand pump and spilled some fuel. The hand pump works good if you keep hold of it. The smell of the kerosene came into the house. I will be more careful the next time I add fuel.

I called my yard man Alex and asked what he was doing yesterday afternoon. He responded with nothing so I asked if he would come over and rake some leaves and mow the back yard. He said he did not think so as the grass was all wet. I noted that the grass was not wet, it was frozen. The temp was 25 degrees, and I noted I was just kidding him.

At 5:00pm we did not have any rain, snow, or sleet and we hope it stays away. The three stooges start at 5:00pm and I watched some of the ole crazy shows.

We will stay inside today and try to stay warm, we hope you have a good and warm day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.
