January 31, 2026

Yes, it is a cool good morning here in Hewitt Texas. We are looking at another day of doing little and wanting to do more after your nap.

Let's see how this day starts off, Saturday the 31st, it's the last day of the month. Wow, tomorrow we're going into a new month already? We did get up and do our normal things this morning, you know some cereal for breakfast, a cup of decaf coffee for each of us. I set around a little while then I decided I would try to clean my ole body up by taking a shower, which was nice. I even shaved and that felt good.

Then I said goodbye to my favorite wife! Why did I say goodbye, because I was leaving her. I went over to the Star Coffee Place to get me a cup of real coffee. The cup of coffee I had gotten there yesterday was terrible, so I told them that it was bad, thanking they might give me a free cup. The coffee yesterday was as if they had put three times as much cream in it as they did coffee. They said oh, we'll put less cream in it then. Did I get a free one, no, why don't they give free ones when they screw up?

I am back at home sitting here in front of the computer entering data by voice and not by hand, I do have the cup of coffee and it tastes good today. I just turned on the printer as I wanted to try to print something after while and it started printing without me doing anything other than turning it on.

Yesterday I had received some information online, actually it was tax information, and I thought I'll try to print that even though I already had received it in the mail. I entered it in and told the printer to print, and it said you have an error and it wouldn't do anything. I tried to print another page, and nothing would print so I said the heck with it and shut everything down. When I turned the printer on this morning, and it prints, I don't understand it, not at all. I'm hoping I'll be able to print the homework I do for Bible study, if not I won't have anything to take the Bible study because I do it on the computer and then print it.

Allow me to review in my mind if I did anything yesterday; we did have a friend come over and visit for a while; she brought a couple cans of chili beans for us. I had told her earlier that I'd gone to the store and could not find chili beans, I found all kinds of chili with beans in it, but I just wanted the chili beans. Well, she found some and brought a couple cans for us.

After she left, I headed into town I went to the cheap store because I had a 15% off coupon and I was hoping they would have a battery powered vacuum like I use here at the house. They had a couple but not like what I use so I did not buy one. Then I decided I would go to the booze shop and get me a bottle of adult beverage. I thought about it and this is the first time I have bought an adult beverage since October and how do I know that, because my wife hurt her leg in the beginning of November and I had bought my last bottle before she ever hurt her leg. The store that I normally bought my adult beverage from had burnt, so I had to go to another store.

After getting the adult beverage I headed over to a food store where I went and purchased 2 frozen pizzas. They are good, they don't cost a lot but they taste good, I also got some buns from my favorite wife.

On the way home after All that shopping I decided to stop at the chicken salad place and get us both a chicken salad for supper. I also bought a package of cookies from the chicken salad place which cost too much ($5.00 for six cookies) but they are good. I made it home safe and sound, we had chicken salad for supper.

Well, I guess that's it for now, I'm going to try to stop and go do nothing, maybe today maybe I might go look at another vehicle, let's see how the day goes. We hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do, keep all your friends and neighbors in your prayers.

January 30, 2026

We come to you with a good morning from the Fords of Hewitt Texas. We had a good day yesterday with some warm sunny weather.

I was able to water the flowers in the green house. I have a couple photos, and I have noticed that something is getting in the pots and digging in them. I assume it is either mice or rats that probably live under the floor of the green house. One of the plants appears to being eaten by the intruder.

Our dog Tres was barking out near the fence at the ditch and when I looked out back to see what he was barking at, I noticed the shadow of a large bird crossing the yard. I walked out back to see what was flying over and it was a buzzard. I went to the fence to see what Tres was barking at and there was a buzzard sitting on the fence. It flew away as soon as I walked up and that is when I saw something dead laying in the ditch. I could not see what it is, but I have a photo of the dead body.

A friend dropped by yesterday afternoon and visited for a while and as usual the conversations seemed to be all about doctors and health concerns. After the friend left a person from the rehab came by, he was doing an interview with my favorite wife, he was determining if she needed to continue rehab. After a bunch of questions he explained that she should be walking using a walker several times daily. He then asks my favorite wife to get up and take a few steps. He explained that it might hurt and if it hurt to much stop. She took a few steps and he then asked her to walk over to the fireplace and then back to the chair, which she did without any problems. He suggested that she should get out of the chair every hour and walk around the house some. He also suggested that I stay close when she is walking.

Well, I guess I should get ready to go get Alex and take him to school. Yesterday I got a cup of real coffee from the star coffee place before I picked him up, wow, back to normal things to do.

I should attempt to stop now and let you get on with your day, please have a good day and stay safe in all you do as you are being nice to others.

January 29, 2026

Good morning, it's above freezing this morning and we are happy. I did get Alex to school on time and safely. I have a photo from this morning as Tres, and I went to the front yard I noticed the beautiful sun rise. The sun rise was prettier in real life than it is on the photo.

Yesterday's events: I did get to go to the store, and I bought a lot of things. I did not find any chili beans as I wanted 4 cans. There was a place in one aisle and its sign said Chili. They had various cans of chili, but I wanted Chili beans not chili, I can make the chili if I have the ingredients. Since I did not find the beans, I also did not get any ground beef.  My favorite wife said I should have got the ground beef so we could have used it to make other food items. Wow, I guess I will get to go to the store again. I noticed that a lot of shelves were almost empty. I guess everyone is shopping and maybe not all the employees are coming to work.

I went to George's restaurant yesterday afternoon to get a couple items for supper. I got the orders to go after sitting there for about 20 minutes. I should call the order in and then I would not need to wait as long if I called them in.

Yesterday morning when I went to the store the side streets were partially clear and partly covered with ice. I did not have any problems driving but I did drive carefully. Yesterday afternoon when I went for supper most of the side streets were clear. I was careful this morning when I went to get Alex, there were very few areas with ice on the streets and most of the streets will be clear.

Wow, I did get a real cup of coffee from the star coffee company this morning before picking up Alex.

We were supposed to get 7 pieces of mail and one small package yesterday. The mail man left one letter, and it wasn't important. Where are the rest of our mail and the package? Today we are supposed to get 8 pieces of mail and one small package, we will see if they deliver or not.

The trash people did not pick up any trash yesterday; our trash cart has been on the curb for four days now and they have not come by. A good friend called the city and learned that the trash pickup will not be until next Monday, but they will be picking up the recycling items today. They normally get the recycle on Wednesday.

I guess I should take the kerosene heater and fuel back to the shed, but we have another cold front coming in a couple days so maybe I will wait.

I need to get a new vehicle to replace the van, I need to get busy with this. The van needs to be cleaned and all the items inside it removed and donated. For some reason I think about this but do not get to work on it. If I start talking to a dealer about price, I need to have the van available as a trade in. The van is in good condition with only a couple of small problems, no mechanical problems and it only has 40,000 miles on it. Yep, I guess I am just lazy, or maybe my favorite wife needs to stay on me to not sit around.

I am stopping for now, we hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

January 28, 2026

Good morning to everyone, we hope you all have heat and electricity in your homes. Please be careful if you need to drive in the cold and icy weather. I have a photo of some of the sleet blocks that I had cleaned from the walk.

Speaking of driving in cold icy weather, I will need to do that today. I will be taking Alex to school this morning, but they are starting school 2 hours later than usual. I will attempt to leave the homestead a little early and drive on the slick roads at a very slow and safe speed. I have four reasons to drive today.

One is to get Alex to school safely and on time.

Two is to get me a cup of coffee from the Star coffee place.

Three is to go to the store to get some groceries.

Four is to go to the drug store and get a prescription for my favorite wife, which this year cost twice as much as it did last year. I will ask why?

New notice: I just learned that our schools have changed their minds and instead of starting late, they are not having school today.

Yesterday we did very little, it was cold outside, so I did not want to go outside. We had leftover chili for lunch, and it was as good being a leftover as it was when it was first cooked. Yes, I know how to make chili and that is about all I can cook other than things in the microwave.

Bible study yesterday was not the kind I like. I am not a good student, and I like questions that are easy and do not require me to be intelligent to answer them. A lot of the class are good at providing clear informative answers.

The trash is still sitting in the curb; they did not collect trash for the last two days. The mail person has not come by for the last two days; I guess they are on vacation.

I guess I should stop entering data and start the truck to get it warmed up before I head out to get three of the four reasons for driving.

We hope you have a good day, and that we all stay safe in all we do. Keep those people who are without power in your prayers.

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

January 27, 2026

We are still having a cold start to the day, and the streets are still covered with frozen sleet. We still want to wish you a good morning.

Yesterday I did get outside and work my poor ole body to a point of exhaustion. What was it I did yesterday in the cold weather, I cleaned the walk so I could get to the mailbox, even though the mail person did not deliver any mail. The sleet was frozen and about one inch thick on the walk. I broke the sleet and then pushed it off the walk. I do have evidence of the work, aka a photo.

This morning the walk has ice on it at the area where the roof dripped water yesterday. About 5 feet of the walk has ice and the rest is still clear.

I bundled up yesterday and made it through the cold air without any problems. I did not go anywhere even though I needed to get out of the house and go to the drug store. We called the drug store yesterday a couple times and they never answered, so we assumed they were closed. We will try to call them again today.

We were going to do bible study from home last night on the computer. I checked in but for some reason the program was not working. I could see the others as they came on but when someone spoke, I could hear a couple words and then the screen would stop. I tried to say something, but it was as if they could not hear me, as others would talk over me and I was not muted. After a short time, I just disconnected. I will start next week's homework today.

I hope they get some of these streets cleared today, I haven't seen anyone drive on our street. We did sit the trash cans out yesterday, but the trash truck did not come by and get the trash. We did have a lot of sun yesterday and that helped the green house to stay warm all day. The plants need to be watered in the greenhouse, but I can't until the freeze leaves.

Ok, I will stop for now. We hope you have a good warm and safe day, and that you should be nice to at least one person. Keep all your friends in your prayers.

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

January 26, 2026

We wish you a good morning even though the weather isn't good. Everything is covered with about ¾ inch of sleet and when you walk on the sleet it is solid, aka frozen. The streets are still covered with sleet. Schools and some businesses are closed today and the temp this morning is a cool 16 degrees.

We did nothing yesterday other than complain about the cold weather and not being able to go to the store. Obviously, the schools are canceled and that is good as I was not going to attempt to drive on the sleet-covered streets today and probably not tomorrow. Photo looking out the front door.

My favorite wife and I are sitting here in the TV room both with a cup of homemade coffee    in our hands. Yep, homemade coffee, wow, can I make it through the day without a coffee from the Star coffee place? Wait a minute, I went all day yesterday without a Star coffee, now you see how bad it is when you get old and can't enjoy a cup of real coffee.

We have discussed the possibility of a pot of chili for today, but I need to see if we have all ingredients. That means I will need to get out of my chair and look through the canned goods. Never any rest for ole people.

Something that happened this morning. We had just gotten out of bed, and my favorite wife was sitting on the bed, when she got up using the walker and turned toward where I was and she walked over to the wheelchair, which was about 6 steps. Normally I would push the wheelchair to her, but she came to the wheelchair. I think she did it without thinking and she did not have any problems walking. Wow, progress!

With that I will stop entering this data and wish you a good day. Please be safe and very careful in this cold icy weather.

January 24, 2026

We want to say good morning, but it is so cold (17 degrees) I can hardly talk. Ok, you are correct, I am not talking I am entering data so I can state "good morning". We got something white in the ground and roads here in Hewitt. I have not been outside, so I do not know if it is snow or sleet. Look at the photo and you can decide.

At about 11:00am I decided to go to the cracker store and get our lunch yesterday. There was almost no one there. I spoke with the manager and asked if they were going to close early or not. I was asked how the streets were and I explained that they were ok and not icy yet. They said they might close before 4:00pm. The food was good and I used gift cards I received at Christmas, so someone else paid for the meal.

When I was reading from my bible study book it came to me that I should take a break. During the break I thought, I should fill the kerosene heater because it is only ¼ full of fuel. I went into the garage and got the fuel and a hand pump. I filled the tank with Kerosene and then I let go of the hand pump and spilled some fuel. The hand pump works good if you keep hold of it. The smell of the kerosene came into the house. I will be more careful the next time I add fuel.

I called my yard man Alex and asked what he was doing yesterday afternoon. He responded with nothing so I asked if he would come over and rake some leaves and mow the back yard. He said he did not think so as the grass was all wet. I noted that the grass was not wet, it was frozen. The temp was 25 degrees, and I noted I was just kidding him.

At 5:00pm we did not have any rain, snow, or sleet and we hope it stays away. The three stooges start at 5:00pm and I watched some of the ole crazy shows.

We will stay inside today and try to stay warm, we hope you have a good and warm day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

January 24, 2026

I woke up this morning and after I got dressed, Tres and I went to the back door when he went out to do his business, which means urinate. He stepped out on the back porch and stopped as it was raining. He looked around and decided not to go out in the rain as he returned to the house. The rain is heavy this morning and at this time 7:00am it is not yet freezing. I guess I should wish you a good morning and we are praying that this weather will not be as bad as predicted.

Yesterday: we had some lite rain all day and it was also foggy. I went to the store and purchased some decaf coffee. While I was out and about, I did stop at the Star coffee place for a cup. While I was driving, I learned that the power had gone off at Daves' house, but it was just for a few minutes and the bad weather had not yet started. I made it back home safe and before the rehab lady arrived.

My favorite wife's exercises seemed to go well. While the lady was here, I told her of a text I had received which appeared to be from the company she works for. I noted the first text said I owed $75, and they wanted me to respond, but I did not. If I owe money they can sed me bill. Later I received another text that said I had 1 hour to respond, and I did not respond. The lady said the company she works for doesn't do that, and I should not respond.

Later I did get the kerosene heater out of the carton; it has about a quarter tank of fuel in it. I put a couple batteries in and attempted to light the unit, but it would not lite. I then removed the batteries and got some matches, and I ignited it using a match just to make sure I remember how to light it. It does heat up quickly. I have fuel but I hope we will not need to use the heater.

I also do not want to need to use the generator as it is a lot of work to get it out and get it started. When we run the generator, we only use it for a couple of lights and the refrigerators and deep freeze. We have several flashlights in case things get dark. I am hoping and praying that the bad weather isn't as bad as they predict.

Different topic: Thursdays note I think I had noted that the Ford's ole printer would not print and there was a message that indicated and error, but I had no idea what the error was. Yesterday I was here in the office, and I was working on my bible study homework and I thought, my homework is on the computer and if the printer isn't working, I can't print my homework to take to the meeting. I turned the printer on. As I was sitting there the printer started printing the two pages I had tried to print on Thursday. Wow, it worked without me doing anything other than turning it on. Was it divine intervention? I am going to say yes, divine intervention.

Well, I am stopping now so you can get going. We hope you can stay safe and warm today and don't drive on the ice-covered roads.

Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

January 23, 2026

Good morning from the Ford house on this foggy morning. We are having a very lite drizzle this morning, and I do not need to get wet as I am not taking Alex to school. I might leave the house this morning for a few minutes to see if I can get more Decaf coffee (Eight O'clock). This brand is what my favorite wife drinks, and it isn't easy to find.

Car dealers: I did take some time and went to two dealers yesterday afternoon at McGregor Texas. I stopped at the Ford dealership and parked, I walked around looking at a few vehicles, but no one came out to talk with me. I walked back to the truck and left. I went to the Chevy dealer and as soon as I got out of the vehicle a salesperson came out and talked with me.

Weather: I received a notice from the bank saying they were going to be closed on Saturday, due to the possibility of winter weather. I guess the possibility of freezing rain and sleet has caught their attention. It might be bad on Monday morning and if so, the schools will likely delay the start.

Another subject: my printer is acting crazy; it will not print and is states there is an error. What error and how do I fix it? The printer is probably 8 years old so I may need to just replace it. The printer had stopped printing most colors, so I guess it had served it time and needs to be thrown out. Where would I get enough money for a new printer.

Computer time: I was attempting to move some items off the computer yesterday and put them on an SD card, and in doing so I deleted the original version of this document, now I am rewriting it. When I am working on anything I should stay focused and not have the TV on, or any other distraction. I do get distracted easily and that often causes errors.

Weather: for the last week the big news is the nation-wide bad weather. I know they need to keep us all informed but after hearing the weather news hundreds of times it gets irritating. I know what you are thinking, ole people sit around too much with their TV on. If I don't want to hear the weather, I could turn the TV off.

Talking about stopping, I will try to stop now and get started doing nothing, we hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

Thursday, January 22, 2026

January 22, 2026

Well, the cold weather is on its way, but it has not arrived yet, so we wish you a good morning.

Yesterday explained: I was allowed to vacuum the floors before going to the store for a few needed items. I found everything except the natural tears. My doctor has told me to use these natural tears and not to use any of the eye drops that reduce the red in your eyes.

We sat outside for a while yesterday afternoon and one thing I noticed is the oak trees seem to be getting ready to bud out. The small branches seem to be swelling a little. I assume the freezing weather that is coming this weekend will bring a halt to any possible blooms. Also, while sitting outside, I did sweep and rake some leaves.

Back in the house my favorite wife and I both had leftover chili for supper. It was still good and as my favorite wife said, it was not cooked in the microwave. It was cooked on the stove, and it was reheated in the microwave.

Today I might go and again look at vehicles. Also, I do not need to take Alex to school as his mother will take him.

Different subject: I do have a 4 gallon can of gas in the garage and the generator is always there. I have brought the kerosene heater and some kerosene to the garage all in prep for the possible freezing rain and possible power outages. Our supervisor Tres gets in many of my photos.

I will attempt to stop for now, we hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

January 21, 2026

Good morning to you and that other person too. By good I mean, the temperature last night went all the way down to about 54 degrees here in Hewitt Texas and the night before it was cold outside. Starting Friday, the temp is supposed to drop below freezing and stay that way until Sunday sometime. Warm one day and cold the next, how do we ole people adjust to the change.

I had decided to see if I had two gas cans full of gas in the shed, and I did not. I took the empty can and headed to the gas station. but on the way I stopped at the hair stylists, aka ole persons barber, and I now have my hair shortened. In the olden days my mom would give me a dollar and tell me to get my hair cut. I would walk to the barber shop alone as it was only about three blocks away from where we lived. I am sure at some point one of my parents took me to the barber, but I don't remember ever being taken. By the way, a hair cut for a senior person is now 19 dollars and they expect a tip too.

Monday, I went to the hair cut place and sat there for about 30 minutes thinking I was in line for the next stylists. I then learned that some people who came in after me had checked in online and they got to get the hair cut before me. Once I understood that, I got up and left. Yesterday (Tuesday) there was no one ahead of me.

Different topic: When I was out back getting the gas can from the shed, I decided to check in the greenhouse to see if there are any new blooms coming on the Christmas cactus, and I have a photo.

I hope we get through the coming freezing weather without any problems in the green house, and all the blooms on the cactus open for a photo.

I was attempting to keep my favorite wife from starving yesterday I decided to cook some chili. Now this is not Texas chili, it is Missouri chili, that means "it has beans in it". Texas chili does not have beans in it. With the cool weather I thought a hot bowl of chili would be good. Yes, I asked my favorite wife about the ingredients.

The chili turned out to be very good. We always have a peanut butter sandwich with chili. I think I learned to have a peanut butter sandwich with chili when I was in grade school with would have been about 70 years ago.

What happened or happens today, not a lot. I did not need to take Alex to school this morning, his mother is off work and took him. When we got up and after getting my favorite wife in her chair, I did vacuum the floors and straightened up the bed. After providing my favorite wife with some breakfast cereal I asked if she wanted a cup of decaf coffee, to which she responded yes.

I then told my favorite wife that I was going to get a cup of coffee from the star coffee place, and I would be back in a few minutes. To be honest with you, I think it is odd that I want a cup of expensive coffee and that I drive a couple miles one way to get the cup. I do usually get the cup when I am on my way to get Alex, and then when I am not getting him I still want the cup. Habits influence us daily.

Back from the coffee place with my cup of coffee in hand, I walked into the front room where my favorite wife was sitting. The first thing I noticed was, "I had not made a cup of decaf for her before I left." I felt bad and immediately made her the cup of decaf. Ole people "me" get distracted easily.

I will say, after having a cup of coffee from the Star coffee place I am more awake as caffeine energizes me.

Well, I will stop for now and see if I can do something such as get the mail from the mailbox. We hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

January 20, 2026

We are having a cold good morning and we are not looking forward to the coming winter weather. Patrick and Karla are supposed to come to our home this weekend as their anniversary is the 21st, and Patrick's birthday is the 28th.  Well, the weather people are predicting freezing rain and sleet this weekend, with temperatures down in the 20s, so I assume they will probably not want to drive on roads that might have ice on them.

With the bad weather probably coming, I need to go to the shed and see if the gas cans are full and maybe bring the kerosene heater with some fuel to the garage in case we have a loss of power during the freezing rain. Darn it, I will need to go outside in the cold.

I did get Alex to school this morning on time and in a safe mode this morning. On Tuesdays he wears his military uniform (ROTC) and he always looks good in the uniform.

I need to put some of our pain cream on my knee, as my knee is hurting today. Well, I guess I should stop and get started doing something, we hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.

Monday, January 19, 2026

January 19,2026

Well, we are having another cold good morning, it is 33 degrees as I create this soon to be boring word document.

Let us see what happened yesterday. The day started out cold about 27° outside, and that afternoon I looked at my thermometers, and it was 95° in the greenhouse. Yes, the greenhouse warms up when the sun shines on it and the heater doesn't have to run.

I did go out to the greenhouse and check on the Christmas cactus as one of my good friends suggested and there are going to be many blooms on it if nothing bad happens to it. I had provided a photo of 1 bloom on the Christmas cactus but the tips of a lot of the leaves are red meaning they're going to bloom.

Yesterday morning I wanted a cup of coffee from the star coffee place, so I came up with a plan to get a cup. I made a list of a few things that we needed from the store, and I went to the store to purchase the items that I needed and then I went over and got the cup of coffee and headed home. I would note that at the store at 7:30 in the morning there was almost nobody there, the people that were in the aisles were stocking the shelves, so I had a building to myself almost.

An exciting day for me here at the Ford homestead I was able to vacuum the floor which I do most of the time anyway, I did wash 2 loads of clothes and dry them.

My wife had commented that our dog did not smell good, and she suggested that we spray him with some of that spray and rub it in that helps take the odor away. I being the fine husband that I am, did exactly as she wanted, I sprayed the dog and rubbed it in and then he wanted to go out back, so I let him out back for a while. With all that spray on him the first thing he did Outback was to lay on the ground roll over and over in the leaves and dead grass.

A little later when he came in the house and laid down on the floor the carpet was again needing to be vacuumed because it had grass pieces on it. There's never no rest for an old senior person and a vacuum cleaner.

My favorite wife has been wanting to take a shower for a while, but she's not been able to. Since she got home from the hospital, she has been using a washcloth to wash her body as it is difficult to get in and out of the shower. Well, Saturday we did a practice run to see if we could get in and out of the shower and yesterday morning I took some time and thought about it and came up with a plan. My favorite wife and I went in where the shower is and were able to take her thoughts and my thoughts and make one plan. Yes, she was able to get in the shower, take a shower, rinse off, dry off, get back out of the shower all safe and sound. We are both very happy now that we know that we can get her in and out of the shower safely.

Sunday afternoon a good friend brought us some food for our supper. He brought Smoked Ribs, Beans and a Rum Cake. Now I am here to tell you the ribs were excellent, they had a sweet sauce on them and there was a lot of good spicy meat. The beans were very good with some spice in them also. When I finished eating the ribs I had to wash up as I had the sauce on my hands and face.

My wife also said the Food was very good and she was glad that we had food that was cooked and not something I made in the microwave. We were both full after eating so we had to wait for about an hour before we got some of the Rum Cake. Now we have had the Rum Cake before, and you can't beat the Rum Cake.

There was also a card with the food, and it had a reference to the bible, "Jeremiah 30:17". You can look it up if you like, it was a reference to healing of wounds.

We are thankful for all our neighbors and friends; we appreciate their kindness and prayers.

Today being Monday, it is a holiday and my grandson does not go to school today. That means I'll have to come up with another reason to go get a cup of coffee from the Star coffee place this morning if I decide to do that.

My last thought and then I will do nothing: I did trim my beard, and it looks and feels good. Photo to follow. If I was to feel lucky today I might go and get my hair cut.

Wow, I show you a photo of the reduced amount of hair on my face and all you can see in the photo is the cowboy hat hanging on the wall.

Right now, we have no big plans for the day, we will see what happens.

I will attempt to stop for now, we hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

January 18, 2026

                It is a
cold good morning here in Hewitt.

I went out to the greenhouse yesterday morning a couple times to adjust the heater. I needed it to come on when it was getting cold but going off when it is warm enough. I have moved the device that shows the temperature from four different thermometers. One is in the greenhouse, one is on the back patio, one is in the garage. The device also shows the temperature where it is setting. Photo of the device.

I can look at the screen and easily know what the temperatures are. The dog in the background with the broken glasses was a gift to me at Christmas, so he gets to stay on the table next to my chair.  The heater in the greenhouse is working, it is in the low 50s inside while it is about 27 outside, we assume the plants are ok.

I went into Waco yesterday and bought a tarp and some rubber gloves. The tarp is camouflage in color and will be used to cover the riding mower. The rubber gloves make it easier to put the pain cream on my knee, my favorite wife's knee and her backside.

It was way too cold to sit outside yesterday so we had a boring day inside the homestead. Speaking of homestead, I did send a check to the tax people, and I hope it doesn't bounce. The city should not be able to tax us ole retired people.

I went to the chicken salad store yesterday and got some chicken salad for our lunch. We had Pizza available for supper, yes it was a frozen pizza and all I had to do was read the instructions, preheat the oven and insert the pizza. Well, I needed to remove it from the oven and cut it into pieces. Yep, there is always a lot of work for us ole people.

Today, Sunday, we are told that we will have some ribs for our supper. A good neighbor and friend will be smoking the ribs, and they will bring us some for supper. Wow, we will not starve today because there are good people who are willing to help ole people.

I guess I should stop and allow you to rest after all this information. We hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

January 17, 2026

It seems as if we are starting another morning here in Hewitt Texas, and with that in mind we will wish you a good morning.

Events performed yesterday: these events are not in any particular order. I took an electric heater to the greenhouse. I want to be ready for some very cold weather that the weather people have said is coming. I have the heater set to come on if it gets cold inside the greenhouse and I have a small light that will be on when the heater is on, which lets me know it is working.

I have been out to the greenhouse twice this morning in the cold air. I am attempting to adjust the heater to come on and shut oof at the correct temperatures. While in the greenhouse this morning I observed a couple flowers blooming. The Christmas cactus is blooming and the bougainvillea.

Another thing that I was able to accomplish yesterday was to get some groceries early in the morning. When you go early there are not many shoppers, but there are a bunch of people stocking the shelves. I did get a couple filters for the furnace, and I have now installed said filter in the furnace.

I got a call from a good friend who is going to be smoking some ribs and will give us some, Sunday afternoon. It is nice to have good neighbors who are also good friends. We will attempt to compensate them for the ribs.

Yesterday, my favorite wife got into a wheelchair, and she removed and put away some Christmas items. She wants to do a bunch of things, but they are not easy to do when in a wheelchair.

I will not have our yard man here today as they are going to visit family members near Dallas Texas. Heck, it will probably be too cold for me to be outside working. You know old people don't like it to be too hot or too cold.

I have been considering what to do with my beard. I am not sure if I want the entire beard and if I want to have part of it removed. My favorite said go to the barber and let them trim it. I have decided that when I go back to the barber, I will not let the fellow cut my hair again. The last time I was there the male barber cut my hair, and he did not do as good as the female barbers.

I did not do any vehicle shopping yesterday. I need to get started on this and decide on a vehicle that we like and then start negotiating. I do want to get the van cleaned and then either sell it or trade it.

Well, I guess ai should stop for now, we hope you will have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.
