January 31, 2025

Howdy y’all, we are starting this Friday off in an optimistic mood, and we wish each of you a good morning. Why is the Don optimistic this morning, “cause we got 3 inches of rain yesterday and today is going to be sunny and warm.” The weather people are suggesting that we may reach 80 in the next couple days. That is not 80 years old but 80 degrees warm.

Big plans for today: get the kids to school safely and water the plants in the hot house. The rest of the day I plan to wait and see what happens.

Yesterday after the rain: the sun came out and I went outside to mess around with the scrap wood for the bird houses. While I was doing that my favorite wife came out so I put the scrap wood away and sat on the ole swing with her enjoying the nice warm weather. I did check the free rain gage yesterday afternoon and it does have some water seeping out. Now it is not dripping but it is a very slow seep. I guess I will continue the search for another rain gage.

We did go out to supper yesterday afternoon, the food was good the service was a little slow, and a friend was sitting in the booth next to us.

The heavy rain took most of the leaves that was in the street down to the end of the block.

I guess I should stop and get started. That statement is like saying I should turn it on and then off. I think the Don makes some interesting statements, or not. Wow I did it again.

Have a good day, be safe in all we do, be nice to at least one person.

January 30, 2025

Is it a good morning? Well, I think it depends on your thoughts about rain and lightning. It is still dark and it has been raining with some thunder and lightning. How much rain have we received, I do not know but I should be able to enlighten myself and the reading public when I return from taking the kids to school. I have glued all the cracks in the ole free rain gage and it is outside collecting rain. I was able to get out of bed on my own, so I say it is a good morning.

I said it is thundering, so Tres and Molly are both in the ole office with me, neither one of them like thunder. Tres is under the desk and Molly just jumped up on the desk. I think I am going to need an umbrella to get to the Ford’s ole Chevy, and it is only about 40 feet from the house.

Tres and I did go out the front door this morning, but it was raining so hard that Tres did not get off the porch.

I am leaving now; and now I am back. As I left the Fords homestead, I checked the “repaired” free rain gage and it had 2.5 inches of rainwater in it. Now before someone asks how did  the Don repair the free rain gage, I will attempt to explain the repair process. “I used super glue, and glued all the cracks, then after it dried, I put water in it and checked it later and all the water was still in the free rain gage.”

Arriving back at home after safely delivering the kids to school I again checked the free rain gage and I also took a photo, there was 3 inches of rain in the gage. We received an additional ½ inch of rain while I was delivering the kids to school.

            The glue seems to work.

Tax returns; I did work on the returns again yesterday here on the Fords ole computer, and no, I will not say the name of the tax company unless they pay me. I was doing good until I noticed I was going to be needing to pay about $10,000. I quickly started reviewing what I had entered, and I found the error, thank goodness. I don’t owe $10,000, and I am happy if I just break even. I should finish the returns this week.

Big plans for today are, to stay dry if possible. This is Thursday and that means date night, so we may get to go out on a date, aka supper. I have no other big plans for the day, maybe I can do two days of bible study questions.

I guess I should stop for now, we hope you have a very good day and be safe in all you do.

January 29, 2025

Good morning to you and that other person, heck, we wish all a good morning. It is raining and a little foggy, be careful.

I did take the cat “Max” to the vet and got him back home safely. The vet did not determine what was causing him to limp on one of his back legs. He did suggest some more tests and he did provide some pain medicine for the Max.

I was able to take some things to the shed which gives me room in the garage. I also removed some leaves that were on the floor of the garage before I moved the table saw into its storing location.

A friend came over and told me I was making too much noise; I noted that the people who live in his house across the street, could be troublemakers.  We talked or a while about things as I was fixing the hole in the dog’s water pan. My friend asked why I did not purchase a new pan, would you believe, I explained that he has money to buy things, and I don’t.

After my friend went back to his house, I worked on the bird house and I hope to show it to Alex and see if he wants to help build some. This one I put together in an effort to remember what works best, but the roof is not yet attached, it is just sitting there. I like using screws rather than nails but they cost more. Photo of the test unit is available.

I would like to put some paint on it. I like the roof to be a different color than the body. If I paint the body white then I like to draw things on the body like a cat’s face on the front with its mouth open. I do usually write my name and date on the inside of the roof. When the roof is installed, it has areas which allow air to ventilate the house for those hot summer days.

I did pickup things like sticks and acorns from the front yard, and I got a bunch of little things.

Well, I need to get going and get the grandkids, we hope you have a good day and please be safe in all you do.

January 28, 2025

Another cool good morning to you all. My big plan for the day is to get the kids to school on time and then take Gabi’s cat to the vet. Wow, so much for an ole person to do.

Ok I am back at the Ford’s ole desk and I did get the kids to school on time and safely. I did purchase a cup of real coffee on the way to the vet with the cat “Max”. the vet checked him out and gave him a rabies shot and prescribed some medicine for Max. I took Max home and I have all the notes from the vet, saying what they might need to do.

I need to get started on my reading of the bible and then I have a few things I want to do outside today before the rain gets here, and I will be picking the kids up from school today. I am going to start clearing things out of the garage and putting them back in the shed, so I have some room at what use to be my work bench.

I started the income tax forms yesterday; I need to keep working on them too.

We hope you have a good day, stay safe in all you do, and while you are being productive, also be positive, it makes the day better for you and those around you.

January 27, 2025

It is still dark as I start this posting and we hope everyone has a good morning. I will be leaving to get the grand kids and take them to school in a few minutes and I will also get one of their cats to take to the vet this morning. The cat has a hurt leg and they want to know what is wrong.

Yesterday’s events were; go out for lunch which was very good, and then go to the store and try to find a rain gage. Well, I found a rain gage and it was too small, I like the bigger rain gage, so I did not get a rain gage. The rest of the day was doing nothing other than some reading.

I did try to print a few pages on the ole printer and my printer will only print black, and all the colored ink wells are full. I don’t know what to do, I did have the printer clean the print heads and that did not help.

Even though everything did not go as planned it was still a good day. Well, I need to head out to get the kids and cat.

I am back and I got Alex to school on time and in a safe manner, I called the vet and they can’t take him until tomorrow, so we have a 9:20 appointment. I took the cat back to its home.

I need to read my daily bible reading and maybe double check my bible study questions, then take a break. We hope you have a good day; please stay safe in all you do.

January 26, 2025

It is a good wet morning here in Hewitt Tx, but I don't know how much rain we have received as the ole free rain gage is cracked. I will attempt to find the resources to purchase a new rain gage.

I do have a photo taken this morning of our pot hound Tres taking a nap on our bed.

Yesterday, we did have lunch with Patrick, Karla, Dave, Claire and Alex, Gabi was working and could not attend. The service was good, and the food was also good. There were lively conversations, and it is always good to be with family. I have a photo of the cake, and the cake was good.

After the meal we returned to the Homestead and continued the interesting conversations. Later in the day I did mess with the bird house parts and I finally remembered how to best assemble them, even though I did not assemble one I think I have the process in mind. There isn't much room at the bench in the garage where I attempt to occasionally work, due to the table saw being in the area. Now I could have pulled my favorite wife's ole van out of the garage and then placed the table saw back in its usual location, but that would have meant I put out some extra effort, and I don't have much effort to waste on work, so I didn't.

The rest of the afternoon I sat at the Ford's ole desk and watched TV, there was two hours of the three stooges, but I only watched 1.5 hours.

I need to ask my favorite wife if she will take me to the cracker store today for lunch, even though it is raining.

That is another of the short post from me to you. The short post allows you to enjoy doing fun things and not sit around reading this non-interesting post. For anyone who reads these I say thank you, and have a good day while being safe in all you do.

January 25, 2025

We wish you a good morning and a happy Saturday. We do have plans for today and I have noticed that a neighbor has evidently purchased a new refrigerator. I observed the delivery using the security cameras. That is not being nosy, it is being curious.

Now let's review yesterday; I did get the plants in the hot house watered, it was in the low 50s when I headed out back and when I opened the door to the hot house I was met with a warm 80s temperature. Yep, the sun was shining on the house and that provides a lot of heat. I did get a couple photos of flowers that are still blooming, heck even the Christmas cactus is still blooming. One photo is from the inside, and one is through the wall from the outside.

After the watering, I ventured forth and picked up sticks out of the back 40, and during that process I learned that I needed to remove the Poopa-Loopa also. Ole people do one thing and learn they need to do other things. Never any rest for the ole people.

Finishing said projects, the Don decided to see what he could do to finish the patterns of wood for the bird house. The table saw was brought from its place in the garage and sat on the edge of the driveway. After connecting the power cord, I was able to cut the last two pieces for the pattern, then I used the pattern pieces to create all the pieces for a bird house. I was going to put a house together, but my favorite wife arrived home from her shopping in town, so I helped carry items into the house. We decided to sit outside since the weather was nice, and that ended the building of the bird house. Oh, I should note I could not put the saw away since the van was in the garage and blocking the area where it should be set.

What is on today's agenda? We plan to have lunch with Patrick and Karla to celebrate his coming 54th birthday. Dave and his family are supposed to be with us. We do not yet know where Patrick will want to go for lunch, both McDonalds and Whataburger are open and not too far away. 😊

We are supposed to get some rain starting this evening and through Sunday, we need it. If I get the time later this afternoon, I may attempt to assemble a bird house and if it is successful I will attempt to provide a photo.

Well, I will stop for now we hope everyone has a good day and we hope the food at lunch today is good, also please be safe in all you do.

January 24, 2025

Friday is here and we wish you a very good morning and a good day for all. It is still cold outside (22) and I will need to warm the Ford’s ole Chevy up before I head out for the grandkids.

My favorite wife and I did get out of the house yesterday, we went and ordered a cake for Patrick’s birthday which will be next Tuesday, we will celebrate it this Saturday, he will be 54 years old. Since we were out and about, we went into Waco and got a sandwich for lunch. The lady at the sandwich shop said she missed us last Saturday, and she was wondering if something had happened. We explained that we had lunch with our son Dave last Saturday, and we will have lunch with our son Patrick this Saturday.

Back at home I did my bible study homework and then my favorite wife and I did sit outside for a while. It was cool but not too cold and the wind was not blowing. I took a photo of the blue sky while we were outside, and I also took a photo of the free rain gage.

The blue sky was very clear and pretty, the rain gage was not clear and was not pretty. I thought I had removed all the water from the gage prior to the cold weather, I must have been wrong. I need to see if I can clear the gage so I can see the numbers and then see if I can seal the crack.

I need to head out to take the kids to school. I am back and we made it on time and safely.

Yesterday on the way to get the kids there was a medium sized dog run in front of my truck and I was able to get on the breaks enough to slow the truck, so I did not hit him but the car in the other lane coming behind me probably did not see the dog until he hit him. The car was probably doing about 40 mph when he hit the dog, and it made a very loud crash sound. I looked back in the rearview mirror and I saw the dog laying in the street. That event kind of started a day that seemed unlucky.

Speaking of dogs, I was sitting here at the ole desk and on the security cameras I could see Tres running through the back yard like he was crazy. I have no idea what had him excited like that, he does occasionally run like that when I am in the yard with him, usually when he wants to play.

Well, I think I should stop for now, we hope you have a safe and fun day.

January 23, 2025

Good morning to one and all, we are starting off Thursday cold similar to the last couple days. It did warm up some yesterday and my dog Tres and I did sit outside for a while. The sun was shining which made it feel good and the wind was very lite.

Topic of the day: I have a short video for you to review. I am sure you all know that the Big Easy received 8 inches of snow and that is the most snow for that area since 1895. Everything was basically shut down. Now we receive snow here in Hewitt and they did not care about us enough to even show photos on the TV, so I have a video.

You may need to look closely but it was snowing.

Did I do anything yesterday: I did go to the teller machine and got our weekly stipend. I then went to the coffee place and got a cup of coffee. Returning home I did start the cleaning process in the ole office. I was able to get about one third cleaned, the upper one third. The rest of the cleaning requires a lot of moving of items, mostly small containers and other junk I keep in here.

I am trying to find a location off the floor in the garage to place the cat’s food. Then I can leave it out all day and the Tres can’t eat it. Right now, I put it out in the afternoon and pick it up the next morning. I think I have found a place, but I don’t know if Molley will remember where I put it.

I just got back from dropping the kids off at school.

Plans for Today: we will go in to Waco for a couple items, which could include lunch, but other than that no big plans. It is supposed to warm up to the low 50s today, maybe I will venture outside for a while.

I guess that is all for now, have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

January 22, 2025

It is a clear sky morning which makes it even colder, 22 degrees. Cold or not, we wish you a good morning or good day, depending on when you get up. I got up later than normal (5:30) and I need to get going to get the kids and take them to school.

I am back and I did get them there safe but almost late, due to a late start by one of the grandkids. When you get a late start and the traffic is crazy, it is somewhat stressful.

What I did yesterday: wow, there were so many things that I did not do, and none that I did do. The freezing temperatures cause this ole person to want to stay inside. I did do some of the bible study homework, and I did watch TV which was boring.

Today’s possible events; I need to clean the ole office but I don’t like doing that as it is time consuming (aka to much work). The day time temp is supposed to warm up to the mid 50s this Friday, so I will attempt to water the plants in the hot house Friday if the sun is shining.

My favorite wife goes to the store for groceries today, I will offer to drive her there but she usually drives herself. If I drive, I can drop her off at the door and save her some cold weather walking.

I noticed a neighbor had their garage door open and one of the vehicles was running while it was still in the garage. I don’t know how long it had been running, but it left a few minutes later.

I will stop for now; we hope you have a warm day and please stay safe in all you do. Maybe when spring comes and the weather warms up, I will have more to talk about.

January 21, 2025

It is a good dark morning as I start this soon to be very short post.

Yesterday events: the president was inaugurated yesterday and that seemed to be all that was on TV all day. Now I had intended to watch the inauguration and then stop watching after that but most of the channels continued to show the follow-up events.

We did not get the snow or ice and that is good, I did go to bible study last night and it was interesting. I did leave the house one time during the day yesterday, to go get lunch for my favorite wife and me.

Today: get the kids to school in a safe manner and on time then stay inside the house all day. We don’t like this old cold weather.

Wow, two short postings in a row. Please stay safe in all you do, have a positive attitude, and be nice to someone.

January 20, 2025

Good morning even though it is very cold here in Hewitt. How cold is it, no one asked, it is 21 degrees at this time, and our cat Molly went outside for a minute or two and then decided it was too cold and she came back inside.

Plan for today; almost no plans for today, kids our out of school, I do plan to read the notes for this week’s bible study class, which is cheating. We are supposed to read the notes after the class and lecture but I find the notes more informative than the lecture. The lecture is a review of all that we have studied and discussed in class; the notes have additional info.

We change presidents today and that is all we will see on the TV.

Have a good day, stay warm and be safe as we see the change in presidents.

January 19, 2025

Well, it is a good and cold morning today, 25 degrees outside and I think I will stay inside today. We might go for breakfast this morning, and if we do, I will start the Ford’s ole Chevy remotely and allow it to warm up before our ole senior bodies get inside the truck.

Now let us review yesterday; we did go to lunch with Dave, Claire and Alex, to celebrate Dave’s 50th birthday. The food and conversations were all good, and we all enjoyed the time together. Gabi was not there with us, as she now has a job and will likely work most weekends.

After lunch we went to the cheap store and purchased a few things, one of which is a bed for the Tres. We put it outside so he has something warm and soft to sleep on. We had a 15% off the entire purchase coupon.

I did break up a limb that was in the back 40 yesterday as I did not want to be outside in the cold today or tomorrow.

A friend came over yesterday but we did not sit outside, as it was warm and not windy inside the Ford’s house. Good conversations and coffee or tea were had by the attendees (aka us and our friend). I did get to watch some of the ole Three Stooges shows yesterday afternoon, one which I did not remember from years past.

We wish you a happy and warm Sunday, and hope that we all stay safe in all we do.

January 18, 2025

I will wish you and that other person a good morning, but for you know who, I say, well, I guess I wish everyone a good morning, even you know who. Do you know if who, is a male or female. Did you notice I listed the male before the female. Does that mean I have a prejudice against females. I hope not, cause my favorite wife is a female.

What did Reverend Ford do yesterday? What, you did not know that The Don is an ordained minister. Back in 2013 The Don went on line and got ordained as a minister through the Universal Life Church, but that has nothing to do with what he did or did not do yesterday.

After the watering of the hot house, and I should say the hot house was not hot, I decided to go to the shed and see if I had nails and screws that could be use to put some bird houses together. I found the nails and screws, now I need to cut the boards and then put the houses together.

I had thought about doing some sawing yesterday, you know, cutting boards for the bird houses, but it was too windy, so I sat inside and was bored all day.

What will we do today: we hope to be going to lunch with Dave and his family to celebrate his birthday in a belated manner. He was filling ill last Saturday so it has been postponed until today.

Patrick has a birthday coming up on the 28, so we assume we will have a lunch for him around that time. Another bit of information, Patrick and Karla have an anniversary on the 21st of this month. Many things happen in January.

The weather was not good for sitting outside yesterday so I stayed inside. I did do my bible reading and my bible study homework, and after that, I was again bored.

We are trying to get our ole bodies ready for the extreme cold that is coming. Faucets are covered outside and the heater is ready in the hot house.

I assume that is it for now, we hope you are ready for the weather and that we get a little snow but not any on the roads. Have a good day, be nice to old people or at least don’t be mean to them, and please stay safe in all you do.

It’s coming!

January 17, 2025

It is a nice morning and also a burrito morning, so I say good morning to you all. I have been asked to provide the grandkids with breakfast burritos this morning, to be eaten as we drive to school, and I might get one for myself. You guessed it, I will need to leave even earlier as I need to drive to the burrito place to purchase the burritos, and they have some of the best and hottest hot sauce around.

Yesterday’s few events: I did go to the skin doctor and she said all looked good, come back in six months or a year. Wow, since it was my choice, I picked eight months, and I will be 78 years old in that month.

Back at home I did work on the parts to the bird house, I now think I have the front and back angles correct, so I can use these pieces as patterns to make duplicates and eventually put the houses together. I want to use a chop saw instead of the table saw to cut the other boards, I find it easier to use in this type of cutting.

We did sit outside for a while after the bird house work yesterday, the weather was nice. Then we headed out for supper and that was filling.

Today; I need to water the plants in the hot house as this will be the last very nice and warm day for a while. I think there is a lot of cold weather coming and they keep saying we might get some snow. The kids our out of school next Monday and the president will be inaugurated.

I got the kids to school safe and on time, the traffic was crazy. I will stop now; we hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

Snow coming, I doubt it.

January 16, 2025

We think it is a good morning, we were able to get out of bed, so, I assume that is a good morning. I am getting a late start this morning so I will stop and go get the grand kids and hopefully return to continue this posting.

Lest go over the big thing that happened yesterday, and I mean big. My favorite wife went to Wally world and to the HEB to purchase some groceries yesterday, when she returned home, we begin to unload the van and she noticed that she did not have her purse. Yep, she must have left the purse in the grocery cart sitting on the parking lot.

At this point panic was sitting in. I said let’s go back now and see if someone had turned your purse in to the lost and found, or, has it vanished. The drive back to the HEB seemed extremely slow even though traffic was moving at the normal pace. We got on the parking lot and drove past the area where she had parked, no carts with a purse were seen, so I dropped her off at the door and went to find a parking space. I said that I would park and come in as soon as I could. I made two rounds in the parking lot and could not find a spot fairly close to the door. Suddenly my phone rang and I looked at the display on the dash, it was a call from my favorite wife’s phone. As soon as I seen it was her phone, I knew she had her purse back.

They told my favorite wife that one of the employees who brings the carts from the parking lot back into the store, found her purse and turned it in. She wanted to offer a reward to the person that found her purse, but they told her they do not do that.

Varied topics: we did sit outside after returning from getting the purse, it was a pleasant time, for various reasons.

Earlier yesterday I came out of the house intending to replace a security camera. Somehow I became distracted (is it attention deficit disorder) and brought the table saw out of the garage and started cutting the scrap wood to make the pieces of a bird house. I want to have all the pieces cut to the correct size and angles, then I can use them as my pattern to cut more pieces. I may need to put these pieces together temporarily to be sure in my ole head that I have them to the correct size.

Now this ole person sometimes begins to think about things and this time I was thinking about the word, “ours”. I think it means things that belong to us. Then I thought why could one letter totally change the meaning of the word. If we place a “y” in front of the word we get the word “yours”. So, one letter takes our stuff away from us, and it becomes yours. How many hours (wow another letter changed things) did I sit around thinking about this?

Should I stop, maybe I should and let you get back to your daily routine. Please be safe in all you do and have a good day.

Word salad.

Good morning to you and to that other person too. We hope everyone will have a good and restful day, if not for you, at least for my favorite wife and I.

Yesterday’s work load for two ole people: I did get the kids to school on time and returned home and rested for a while before heading out into the cold to work. I did layer up and I stayed warm even in the cold. It did warm up outside as the day progressed.

Putting Christmas decorations away.

My first project was to get the items out of the Shed. In the following photo we may see items that I had removed from the shed.

That was not everything I removed from the shed. As I removed items, I did take them to the garage, photo to follow. Empty cartons waiting at the door of the garage to be filled.

I have another photo of the inside of the garage, past the boxes.

We worked together about 4 hours to get things packed up and returned to the shed. In the next photo we see the shed which is now filled. I have the Christmas items at the back, then the fall items, then the easter items, them my tools. That allows me to get to the items as needed.

I did get the Ford’s ole van back into the garage.

We were and are both tired and need a few minutes or maybe a day to rest. I should note, that after we completed yesterday’s tiring work, we remembered that there are two Christmas decorations on the front porch. We did not attempt to remove them yesterday, maybe today we will have the energy. I should also note, that my favorite wife has removed, packed and put away all the decorations that were in the house, and there were many more in the house than outside.

This morning our ole bodies are still tired and aching as we attempt to get started moving. As usual I need to get the grand kids to school this morning and my favorite wife will do the grocery shopping. Never any rest for the ole senior people

I will stop for now, we hope you have a restful day, and that we all stay safe in all we do.

Is it almost over? That is, Christmas over?

January 14, 2025

It is a cold and dark good morning. Yep, it is 26 degrees outside, and it is still dark as I start this short post.

I have very little to present this morning as I did very little yesterday. We are starting another cold day and I will not want to go outside and work. We did have a good bible study last night; a good friend and neighbor came to the study, and he was in our discussion group.

I did see a bright star or something in the sky last night when I arrived home from the bible study. It was not moving, and it was very bright. The photo isn’t the best, but it gives you an idea of the star.

            T
he full moon was also very bright last night, but not in the photo.

I just got back from dropping the kids off at school and it is still cold outside. Well, I guess I will head outside as soon as it warms up a little and unload the shed then start bringing the cartons and totes to the garage. We are hoping to get the garage cleared of the decorations today and the shed re-stacked withal the items. It will be a lot of work for two ole people.

We hope you have a good day, please stays safe and try to be happy in all you do.

January 13, 2025

Good morning it is cool outside but not freezing. The Don is back on a normal schedule this week, I will be taking the kids to school and we restart the Bible study tonight.

Now I need to get started on getting the decorations out of the garage and into cartons, so I can put them back in the shed. I need to do that this week; not sure I will start today.  We are supposed to have fair weather this week so I need to get going, the weather next week is predicted to be very bad. I just thought I have a doctor’s appointment this week for a checkup.

I did get a photo of the full moon this morning while the Tres and I was out front, so I thought I would present it to you.

There is a small cloud next to the moon and I see a star high up in the sky.

We did very little yesterday, we did go out for lunch, I took the decoration off the mail box and I work on a couple list that I have in the computer.

Yesterday I talked about the door lock replacement and now the lock on the door that goes into the garage is acting bad. It is the same type lock as the other one was, and they were probably installed at the same time. I need to review all the door locks before I start replacing them.

I need to get started so I will say, have a good day, be safe in all you do, and think good thoughts all day.

Mooned again.

January 12, 2025

It seems to be a good morning for most of us, but I have already been working.

The story of my early morning work goes like this. The senior ole person was awakened from his sleep by his sometimes friend, Tres. Yes, it was almost 5:30am when I was brought out of my deep sleep by the feeling of a dog rubbing against the side of my bed. Naturally I assumed that this sometime friend wanted to go out back for a short time then he wanted to be feed.

I was able to get my ole senior body to roll out of the bed as I was looking for my house shoes, and I headed to the toilet for a little relief. After a rest period in the rest room, I was able to drag my ole body to the back door where I found it was locked. Now the door lock had not been working for a while and I was too lazy to change it, so we have been using a device that pushed against the door knob and went to the floor to blocked the door from opening. Well, I found the door was locked and the device was against the door knob. I removed the device but I could not unlock the door. I tried again and again but could not unlock the door.

Tres was standing there watching me become frustrated as to why the door was locked. I then decide to attempt to remove the door knob so I went out into the cold garage to get a screwdriver. When I began to attempt to unscrew the two screws, I found that I did not have enough light to see properly, so I then went and procured a flash light. It was very difficult to unscrew the screws and hold the flash light at the same time, and Tres would not help me.

At this point I decided to take Tres out the front door so he could have some relief, aka water the grass. Returning to the work I was able to get one screw out and the other was unscrewed a little, and then it pushed through and the door knob came off in my hand. I was still unable to get the door open so I thought, “I should go outside and see if I can get the door open using the outside knob”. I went through the garage to the outside and around to the back door but I still could not get the door open.

I then returned to the garage and came back into the house where I was able to get the other screw to unscrew. I was then able to remove more parts of the lock and eventually able to get the door open. I finished removing the other parts to the lock, and by the way I have replaced locks in the past so I did know what I was doing, even though I was not enjoying it.

Door knob all removed I headed back out into the garage and the work started again. I had to move two carts away from the cabinets that in years in the past I had installed. I then needed to move a coat rack that I made years ago and a container that was on wheels that had some walking sticks that I had made in times past. The two push brooms had to be moved before I could get to the draws where I believed I had a door knob set.

Well, I did find a door knob set even though it was not for entrance doors (no key), it was an inside door knob set. I was happy with the fact that it installed fairly easy, and now we can again open and shut the door.

At this point I began to clean up and put items back in their places, including the items in the cold garage. All in all, it took about 1 hour to complete this process. Wow, what a way to start the morning.

Yesterday’s events: we had plans to have lunch with our son Dave and his family but we learned that he was not feeling well and had a slight fever, so lunch was postponed. My favorite wife and I went into normal Saturday mode with very little if anything happening that would be interesting to you, oh I did water the plants in the hot house yesterday afternoon, and according to the thermometer it was over 90 degrees inside the hot house when I was watering.

After watering the plants, I did remove sticks from the back yard, I did cut up the big limb that was out back and I did remove a few sticks from the front yard.

Not sure what we will do today; we may go to the cracker store for lunch. We hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.
