April 12, 2026

We have been having some rain this morning, so we wish you a good morning.

Yesterday’s work: after breakfast I kicked back in the ole recliner and took a nap. After a few minutes of rest, I decided that since it was cloudy I should finish trimming the ditch. I knew the grass and weeds were wet and that I would have wet feet and pants.

I decided to get dirty clothes which I wore yesterday and wear them. I went out to the shed and got the trimmer out and I changed the oil before I started working. This trimmer has a four-cycle motor, and it uses about two ounces of oil. That done I filled it with gas and headed to the ditch. When I open the gate, I always let the dog Tres go out to the ditch for a while. Once he was back in the yard, I started the trimmer and ventured into the ditch. I had been trimming for a couple minutes when it began to rain. It wasn’t raining hard, but it was wet and only lasted a minute or two.

I trimmed for a while, and the sun started to shine. I did not have a cap on, and I did not have my sunglasses. The sun was like the rain and only hung around for a couple minutes.

I had trimmed for about an hour when the trimmer ran out of gas, and I had a very small number of weeds (a strip about 4 feet long and a foot wide) that still needed to be trimmed.

The blue arrow points at the remaining small number of weeds that need to be trimmed.

I decided not to fill the gas tank, so I got the ole weed trimmer, photo to follow.

In the above photo we see the hand trimmer and my supervisor Tres. I used the hand trimmer to get the last few weeds removed.

I have a photo of the finished product. You may notice the weeds by the wooden fence and that 4 feet from the fence is not my property.

That is too much work for a 92-year-old person, and too much for me too.

I sat around most of the afternoon and did very little. I did sit outside for a while but my favorite wife did not sit with me as she was doing some rearranging and dusting in the house. At about 5:00pm I decided to go into Waco and get a bottle of adult beverage. Returning home I had a drink and I had supper.

The three stooges are on the TV as I am entering this data into the computer.

I have connected my laptop to the TV screen on the desk, and it is at least twice as big as the laptop screen. Ole people can see it better. I would like to be able to shut the laptop and still have it running and connected to the TV, that would have it out of my way as I enter data.

I guess I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and that you are nice to everyone as you are safe in all you do.

Don the Ford

May today be better than your best day, but not as good as tomorrow.
