                Good morning to anyone who reviews this message.

                Today is June 30, 2025, so we are heading into the fourth of July holiday. For many people the holiday means they have the day off work, for us old senior people we have the day off all the time so it just simply means maybe we'll have something interesting to eat or a friend or relative will stop by and say hi.

                I spoke with my yard man Alex and learned that today he will be going on a hike with a friend and that means that he can't come over and mow my backyard. I assume that means I will be mowing my own backyard, wow. Mowing the backyard isn't too awful bad other than checking the lawn mower out that's the riding lawn mower making sure it's got the right amount of air in the tires gasoline oil and all that as long as that's all working then the mowing is just riding around and driving in circles and so on so I can probably do that hopefully I can do it in the morning when it's cloudy and not too hot we'll see.

                I walked to the front door a while ago and noticed that there is a dove sitting on our front porch and it appeared that it may be in trouble, it did not appear that it wanted to fly away. Now I'm in here at the computer and I'm looking up at the monitor and the bird is still sitting on the front porch so that bird is hurt and with all the cats we have here in the neighborhood one would imagine that he will not make it through the night.

Speaking of the neighborhood I got a note from a neighbor who said that the coyote is back in the neighborhood. Now they saw it on their driveway yesterday and the day before smelling of everything and they assume that it is looking for some of the kittens that the neighbor has, maybe for supper.

                We had a good day yesterday we went to the cracker store for lunch food was good the service was good all that was nice, and the young lady at the checkout counter when I was checking out she looked at me and she said, "you've changed haven't you" and I said what do you mean, and she said no mustache, and I said you're the first one that has noticed that, yes I shaved my mustache off 2 days ago.

We ordered a meal to take home with us for supper, they had a BBQ meal with corn on the cob and potatoes and meat. It is cooked on the grill in a big tinfoil package, and we thought we'd take one home and try it.  We brought it home and when we tried it later that evening we split it in half, half for me and half for my favorite wife. We would not recommend this to anybody, it was not even close to being good and we will be more than happy to tell the people at the restaurant that it was not good.

                My favorite wife and I sat outside for quite a while yesterday for part of the time on the front porch and I did pick up some stuff out of the yard some leaves and sticks and things like that that were showing up and then I moved some potted plants around so that she could be happier with their positioning but as I learned they are not where she wants them so they will get moved a little more.

Later in the afternoon that's about 4:30, we went out to our normal seating place on the driveway, and we stayed out there and watched a few cars go by and talked about a few things until about 6:30. It was just a nice day to stay outside, and stay away from the TV and kind of do nothing

Well, I guess I will stop doing nothing and get myself ready to go in the backyard early this morning and try to get the mowing done before it gets hot. If everything works out all right we hope you have a good day and that everyone stays safe in all we do.

                It is a bright and shining good morning. We hope your day goes well.

                I don't really have a lot to talk about today. We will most likely go out for lunch at the cracker store and that's probably about all we do today.

                As I said yesterday, I was going to buy a new leaf blower just to get the battery. I had checked online at the store that I went to, the leaf blower along with the battery and with the charger was $175.  Yes, that's the cheapest one they had, the battery itself was $199. So, as you can see, I purchased a new leaf blower slash battery slash charger. I have offered to give my son David a leaf blower since I don't need 3 leaf blowers, and yes he has the battery to operate the leaf blower and or an electric chain saw.

My backyard still needs to be mowed but I don't think I'm going to mow it, my favorite wife and I both have had some crud the last couple days with sneezing snorting running nose all that stuff, so I am not planning on getting out and stirring the pollen up.

I do have a photo of some vine that's trying to take over in my Jasmine. We have a little battery powered light with a little sign on it and the vine is covering it up, you might see that if you look at the photo.

                Why are you looking at the milk bucket in the upper right corner of the photo. It's just an ole milk bucket.

                Is it a good morning at your home? It is a good morning here at the Fords Homestead.

                Let's see if we have any big plans for today, we will most likely go out for lunch, we will most likely go to one of the big hardware stores as I need to purchase a new battery for our leaf blower, it also works on our weed trimmer. I have learned, it is usually cheaper to buy a brand-new blower with a battery included than it is just to buy a single battery, I don't know why but that seems to be the case.

                Our neighbors yesterday were mowing their yards, so I decided that maybe I should mow the front yard since our yard man Alex said he couldn't come over Saturday, which is today, so I went out and mowed and trimmed front yard. You know what, it looks almost as good as if Alex had done it, so I'm proud of myself. Ole yard man Don.

                I don't think I have commented on this yet so I'm going to try to make the comment now hopefully I have not previously commented on this. Thursday afternoon we were sitting outside my favorite wife and I, and she said do you know that today is Thursday. I looked at her surprised and said yes. Thursday is the day we do our date night, aka go out for supper. We both forgot that it was even Thursday. Several things happened that Thursday, we took Alex to go on a hike with a friend, we took him with us and had lunch, so it seemed like that day was Saturday. Get off schedule and ole people can forget things.

                I did water the flowers in the pots yesterday and the black berry plants have stopped producing berries but there is a lot of new growth.

                Good morning, we hope your day starts in a way that you will have a good happy day.

                Well, I have no real plans for today other than just take it easy and kick back who knows nothing special no plans at all. My favorite wife usually goes into town on Fridays and does some shopping at another grocery store, and then some other stores that she likes to hit so that's what she'll be doing, I will just be hanging around the house here taking it easy.

I did take Alex out to meet a friend so that he could go on a hike yesterday, they seemed to have had a really good time. When we went back and picked him up after the hike, on the way home we stopped for sandwiches. Alex usually gets 2 sandwiches, fries and a drink but he only ate one sandwich and took the other one home with him, he's trying to lose some weight and gain a bunch of muscle.

My favorite wife and I did go outside yesterday afternoon at our usual time, which is about 4:30. At that time there is shade on the swing that she sits on so she's not in the direct sunlight. I normally sit in a chair which is also in the shade because I don't want to be in the sun. I have a photo of about half of the drink that I had.

The point here is, when I make this drink, the glass is filled with ice, then I put a shot of adult beverage in it, and then the rest of it is Diet Coke. It takes about 30 minutes typically for me to drink a glass. The point of showing you that photograph was that 30 minutes had passed and I wasn't finished with the drink, I may have been talking too much. We go out at 4:30 and usually end up going back in the house around 6:00 PM.

Another couple photos of a flower that has the shape of a heart, or possibly a yellow butterfly on the center. You don't have to like it, but I do.

                I may not have the lawn man Alex over this Saturday, it seems he has some other plans. I might need to mow my own yard!

                It is morning here in Hewitt, I am good, so I guess that makes it a good morning.

                Yesterday was a normal day, I did seem to get up a little earlier than usual and get started earlier than usual at doing nothing. After doing a short post on my so-called blog, I went out and got a cup of real coffee. Returning home and I kicked back into my easy chair and just took it easy for a while.

                After taking it easy I got up and went in and read the Bible as usual, I always enjoy doing that, then I decided that I would go outside and do a few things such as putting the new tarp on the lawn mower after I took the old one off. I did work on the plastic sheet that had blown out of the hot house. This is the second time that I have tried to figure out a way to make it stay in there, so I don't have to replace the hot house. That work was done then my favorite wife came outside, and we decided to wash the dog so we got him all clean and smelled good.

                We then went out on the front porch and set a while because the dog was still kind of wet and we didn't want him in the house, so he laid out there on the concrete porch and kind of dried off a little bit.

                Later in the afternoon at about 4:30 we went outside and set as usual near the driveway and as we were setting out there a lady that lives down the street stopped by. She came up the driveway and of course Tres had to bark at her, because he didn't know her but once he met her, he said oh OK she's all right. She wanted to tell us that she thought our yard looked nice and then she wanted to know if we knew somebody that could work on her sprinkler system. I provided her with the name of a company that does that type of work. We sat and talked for a little while and then she headed for her house down at the end of the street.

                Other than that, the rest of the day was kind of quiet. We hope everyone has a very good day and that everyone stays safe and all they do.

                Good morning to me, good morning to you, good morning to us, good morning to all.

                Well, it seems to be a really good morning this morning, the sun's not shining too much there's some clouds around. I'm not going out this morning to pull weeds out of the flower bed this morning.

Let's talk about pulling weeds. Two days in a row I went out early in the morning to pull weeds out of the flower bed, yesterday morning it was about 7:00 when I went out. I removed the last part of the weeds from that flower bed, I got my shower and was all cleaned up but my favorite wife has not one time went out to see the work that I did. No appreciation for me being on my knees out there on the ground.

                Today's Wednesday no big plans for today my favorite wife usually goes to the store and buys some groceries and we'll probably sit outside in the afternoon if it's not raining. I did see some small debris out in the front yard that needs to be picked up and I do have a new tarp to put on the riding mower. I have thought that I need to go in and check the air filters on the furnace and make sure they're all clean, so I have a few things to do but I'm not going to be too busy today

                I will call it quits and stop for now, maybe I will try to do something for myself that would be interesting. We hope you have a good day and that everybody stays safe and all we do.

                Well, I normally say good morning at this point but is it a good morning or not. I'm not on my normal schedule this morning and since I'm not on my normal schedule is it a good morning or not? I'll tell you a little more after a while about why I'm not on my normal schedule, but for right now I'm going to go ahead and say good morning to you.

                Let's talk a little bit about yesterday and see what may have happened and how this old body was allowed to work out back. The sun was up but it wasn't shining on that flower bed so I went out and got on my old hands and knees, yes, I had my knee pads on, and I pulled a bunch of weeds so that my wife would quit complaining about the weeds in the back flower beds. I got about 2/3 of the weeds pulled from the flower bed when I said, "that's it, I'm hot sweaty my shirt and shorts and everything that I have on is soaked," so I dumped the weeds into the trash can got undressed took a nice shower.

                After all that work, I went and got a cup of coffee then I came home drank my coffee crawled onto my old recliner and took it easy, I stayed off schedule yesterday most of the day and that's weird.

We set outside yesterday afternoon it was nice and warm and usually a light breeze. We didn't have any visitors, just a kind of a normal afternoon or what we call our happy time. I do have a photo of blooming flowers to share with you.

                Last night I was lying on my bed, (I do go to bed early) I was watching TV when I got a call from the neighbor's daughter. The neighbors are on vacation, and she asked if I would go over there and check to see if she turned the hose off. She had been watering the flowers, and she couldn't remember if she turned the hose off or if she left it running. I got out of my bed and went over there and checked it for her, the water was not running.

                That was yesterday, this is today.

                I again this morning went Outback got on my hands and knees and after praying I began to pull weeds finishing that flower bed. The one problem today was that the sprinklers had run so everything was wet which means it's harder to pull weeds when they're wet, they slip out of your hands easier. Yes I've had my shower, yes, I'm clean and yes I'm sitting here at this new computer trying to send you all this message. I have not had my cup of real coffee yet!

                I will attempt to stop for now. We'll see how this day goes. We hope you have a really nice day and that we all stay safe and all we do.

            It seems to be another good morning here in Hewitt, so, we wish you a good morning too.

            We had a good day yesterday which started off with going to lunch at the Cracker store. Even though it was lunch time, we had breakfast. For the last few weeks, we had been having the Pot Roast for lunch and it is very good, but having the same things several weeks in a row gets a little tiring so we switched to breakfast. The food and service were good.

            After eating we drove into Waco where I purchased a new tarp to cover the Ford’s ole riding mower. Returning home, I did very little other than rest. My favorite wife and I did sit out on the front porch for a while and when I returned to the house I did have some ice cream, and yes, I fed the dog and cat. As happy hour approached, we did return to the outside, this time near the drive way. It was very warm but there was a little breeze so it was not too uncomfortable.

                Good morning one and all, we hope your day is starting out well ours seems to be really nice.

                I really don't have a lot to put in here this morning since I did my blog posting yesterday afternoon and it covered everything; we did yesterday except for the fact that we did sit outside yesterday afternoon. The weather was pretty nice, about 91° and there was a good breeze most of the time, so setting outside was relaxing. There was very little traffic, no noise in the neighborhood so everything was quiet.

                Our big plan for today is to probably go out for lunch and come back home and do a little bit of nothing although, I might want to drive to the hardware store and get a new tarp to cover the riding lawn mower, we'll see how things go.

                I don't have any photos to post so I will stop for now and wish you all a good day and hope that we all stay safe in all we do.

                I normally say good morning on these posts but since it's no longer morning and its afternoon, I guess I will say good afternoon. We hope you have been and are having a good day.

                We did set outside yesterday afternoon, a good friend came over and she brought a small pizza, so we had pizza to eat before we sat outside, and yes we had some good conversations about the Bible.

                We did get our yard man Alex over here today. He first started cutting the weeds in the ditch, and then he mowed the backyard. All that was completed he then mowed the front yard and did the necessary trimming; he did excellent work.

                I have a photo of a blooming flower and the interesting thing about this bloom is, we did not plant this flower although we did plant two similar flowers in a different flower bed.

The yards and ditch looked good and then we all, Alex, myself and my favorite wife, headed into town for lunch. The sandwiches were good and there were three police officers eating there so we felt very secure.

                After lunch we went to the adult beverage store and at the drive through the lady came to the window and before I said anything she said, "you what …" and I said yes.  Maybe I have gone there too many times in the past since she knows what I want before I say anything.  We stopped at the cheap store and purchased one item, then we dropped Alex off at home and came back over to our homestead where I got in my recliner and relaxed.

It is a nice warm windy day, and it was cloudy this morning during a lot of the work. Maybe I should say it is hot even though it's only 91° and we still have not yet had our first 100° day this year.  We have no big plans for this afternoon other than set around take it easy and when happy time comes sneak outside and sit there in the heat, maybe with a fan blowing on us although there does seem to be a good breeze out there right now.

                Let me start out with a good morning to you and to that other person too, we hope everyone has a good and safe day. It is sunny and bright here today. It's supposed to be back in the lower 90s today. Tomorrow is the first day of summer. It feels like we've been having summer here in Hewitt for quite a while.

                Yesterday we went out for breakfast and after breakfast we went to shop for groceries and other items. We shopped together, which is unusual in that I usually stay home. It was okay as we found the items we needed and returned home. The rest of the day was kind of do nothing as my old body is still sore and tired from crawling around there in the yard and pulling weeds. I have decided that I should be more active every day so when I do get down to pull weeds and stuff it doesn't hurt so much the next day after.

                Today must be a restful day and let my old body kind of get back to normal. We will most likely go out for supper tonight as this is our so-called date night and when I say night I mean late afternoon, we are at home at night.

                I might attempt to re-pot a plant or two today, I guess it depends on my work attitude, do I want to work or not. I do have a couple photos for my entertainment.

                                                               

                The average person will see some blooming flowers in one photo and a ripped tarp which covers the Fords ole riding mower. I would say the wind has damaged the camouflage tarp, more money that I will need to spend.

                As usual we start off with a good morning to everyone. It seems like we've got a nice morning with the sun coming up, so we say, have a good day.

                I guess we can talk a little bit about yesterday. It was kind of a normal day with one exception, I was on my knees in the front yard, and I was not just praying, but pulling weeds out of the flower beds. It was not easy for an old senior person, but I got the work done fairly well. My favorite wife and I sat outside yesterday afternoon, it was a quiet afternoon except for some of the birds calling out quite a bit, and very little traffic in the neighborhood.

                Today we're going to go out for breakfast this morning at George's restaurant and then I will go with my favorite wife to buy some groceries. Normally I do not go with her on grocery day but rather than sit home by myself, I decided I would go along with her. Yes, we have a list of things that we need and then we'll see what else we happen to decide to buy.

                I know that isn't much but for a tired ole person it is enough. We hope you have a good day and that we all stay safe in all we do.

                Allow me to start out with good morning to you. I hope you have a good day.

                We had a good day yesterday and didn't do a lot since the yard was still wet. We did make it more wet and how did we do that, they asked, we bathed the dog yesterday afternoon a little before 4:00 PM. Now we sit outside each afternoon and by bathing the dog a little before 4:00pm since he is outside with us, he would have an hour and a half which would help him dry off before we let him into the house.

                I will provide you with a photo of our sunflowers in the back 40.

                We went into town for a while to do some shopping, we got some special kind of dirt for re-planting a couple of flowers. We also went to the nursery and looked at flowers but did not buy anything.

Our outside time yesterday was restful, and the birds were making a lot of noise.

I don't have any plans for today, I might consider pulling some weeds from the flower beds in the front yard, but that is a lot of work for a senior person.

                Good morning and before you ask yes, we had a really good day yesterday with the family out for lunch, all went well. There are always interesting conversations when the Ford's get together.

                No big plans for today, we did get some rain yesterday which caused water to be standing in the backyard again, and with the rain yesterday the wind was blowing hard, and the rain was actually going sideways.

                After the rain had left yesterday, I noticed that our neighbor next door had a limb that was broken. This limb is probably 30 feet long and it's hanging in the tree. This morning, I was putting out my trash and she was putting out her trash so I pointed it out to her so that she would know it was there.

                We need to wash the dog today but as wet as the backyard is I'm not sure we'll be doing that

                I have no photos for today so I will say have a good day be safe in all you do.

            Good Sunday morning to you all, and happy Father's Day to all the fathers, we hope everyone has a good and safe day.

            Our plans for today are that Patrick and Karla are coming to Hewitt, and we hope that Dave Claire and their family will also come over so we can all go out to lunch together. We usually have some lively conversations with each other. We understand that going out to lunch with eight people will mean we'll have to wait to be seated for quite a while.

I have several photographs that I'm going to post, and I'll try to describe them as I post them. First, we have a photo of black berries and there are three large berries together on one small vine.

Then we have a photo of some voluntary flowers blooming on the fence at the ditch.

Then we have some mushrooms that seem to be everywhere due to the extremely wet weather we have been having.

Then I have a photo of a green lizard on the wall above the garage door.

            I had an interesting event the other day when I was out riding the trike. In a different neighborhood I saw a road runner. Now I am not talking about a person running on the road, I am talking about a bird known as a road runner. This is the first time I have seen a road runner in several years. When we first moved here many years ago, there were not many houses around and there were many road runners. Nice to see them still in the area.  

            We went out for lunch with some friends yesterday to celebrate one of our friends' birthdays, we're not sure whether she was 80 or 81 because she said something about 79. I guess when we get old, we don't want to brag about how old we are, we had a good time.

                We are starting another good morning here in Hewitt, it's not raining right now but there's a slight possibility this afternoon of some rain. I've checked the backyard and most of the water that was there is gone so I'm going to call my grandson in a little while and see if he wants to come over and mow. We will not be able to take him out to lunch since we have been invited out for lunch today for a birthday for one of our friends so we're going to go have lunch with a bunch of friends.        

                I received a comment on my blog posting yesterday from an unknown person who indicated he will be happy when that day is over, I assume indicating Friday the 13th would be over. I have a friend who would stay home from work on Friday the 13^th, yes, he would take the day off. I don't know if that's who sent the message or not.

                Well, I need to get going and see if our yard man Alex is willing to come over and work or not. We hope you have a good day and that everyone stays safe in all we do.

Friday the 13th, 2025

                If you looked at the date above you would notice that it is Friday the 13^th, we would like to wish you a good morning on Friday the 13th and we hope you have a good day this Friday the 13^th.

                Yesterday was pretty much a do-nothing day, I just took it easy and sit around. I did read from the Bible, and I drank some coffee. We did go out for supper yesterday afternoon, the food was good, and the service was good. Back home yesterday afternoon we sat outside until it was almost 8:00. The weather was nice it wasn't raining so a nice time to be outside.

                The backyard is still standing in water, so that makes it kind of nasty. I do plan though today to get out there later today and try to weed eat as much as I can because it needs it, and if I get enough of the weeds cut down it will make it easier when we get Alex over here to mow, if the backyard ever dries up. Our front yard needs to be mowed too, but it still looks pretty good since it is not standing in water.

                Are there plans for today? I do need to venture over to the bank and talk to them for a few minutes and then while I'm out I will hopefully get a cup of real coffee from the Star coffee place. Back at home I hope to do my daily Bible reading. I have changed my way of reading the Bible, instead of just reading straight through it I pick whatever I want to read. I'm studying what I read, and not just reading. Many times, when reading, I learn new things from what I have read previously.

                We did not have any rain last night and no thunder, so Tres was able to sleep without being afraid.

                Good morning, I'm sitting here in front of the new computer attempting to eat my breakfast sandwich as I try to think of anything that might be interesting to say in today's blog, which isn't much of a blog and more of a ledger for me. We did get a little rain last night and when I say a little rain, the gauge has not quite 2 ¾ inches of rain in it, which I assume, or should I say believe is a lot of water.

                We had storms come through several times last night with a lot of Thunder and as usual trace was not happy, so he was on the bed in between us, trying to stay safe from the Thunder.

                Yesterday was a do-nothing day for me, I sat around and did a lot of nothing, I did of course read my Bible as usual. I didn't do any yard work of any kind obviously the ground is so wet that we will probably not be able to mow for days, or until it quits raining. I harvested the Black Berries yesterday, and yes, I was bleeding when I completed the task.

                Today's plans are nothing really, I will goof around and take it easy, I may try to stay dry. The water is standing there in the backyard so I will not be harvesting any black berries today. We will probably go out for supper on our "Thursday date night" or should I say date afternoon as we go to supper before dark like a lot of old people do.

            Good morning, I will try to make this post as short as possible, maybe not, I actually have a photo or two I'm probably going to put in, so hang on, here we go.

            Didn't do too much yesterday was a nice day. My favorite wife and I sat on the front porch for a little while yesterday. I saw our neighbor backing out of the driveway and I know our dog barks at his truck when he drives by. I had a cookie, and I showed it to our dog, the dog was more interested in the cookie than barking at the truck. Later, when the neighbor was returning home, he called and said, "I am on my way home if you want to distract the dog again". I showed the dog a cookie again, and the truck drove by without any barking. We then went inside the house and fed the dog and cat, then we went out to the driveway and sat. Sitting outside is a lot better than sitting in a house trying to watch that silly TV.

            We got some rain last night not a lot just a little, but it did rain. About 3:00am Tres woke me up and I thought, this is early why is he waking me up at 3:00am. I got up and went to the back door to let him out, just as I got at the back door, I heard the Thunder then I knew why he woke me up, he don't like thunder so we went back to the bedroom, I crawled on the bed, and he got on the bed between me and my favorite wife. We both petted him because he was afraid of the Thunder. The Thunder came and went several times early this morning, so I was awake petting the dog a lot this morning.

            I have a photo taken yesterday of some flowers blooming in one of the flower beds in the backyard. There are white and pink blooms, and they are big blooms.  The next photo is of some clouds in the sky, and it seemed to be a dividing line between what appeared to be the end of the rain clouds and the beginning of a blue sky with just a few white clouds in it.
