                We wish you a good morning and a very nice day. Today is my favorite granddaughter's 19^th birthday, and yes as Alex says, "she is your only granddaughter".

                Today is Saturday and at this point in time I have no big plan. I did a couple things yesterday. I took a list and went shopping for some groceries and there were other items on the list besides food. I did get a couple of frozen items that I thought my favorite wife might like. I guess I could say my wife is picky when it comes to food. I did warm one of the frozen meals and she liked it. I hope the others are also enjoyed by my favorite wife.

                The sun was shining yesterday, and I needed to water the items in the hot house. The temp outside was mid 60s and when I went to the hot house the temp inside was 100 degrees. The sun heats it up better than a heater or heat lamps. I did get all the plants watered even though it was excessively hot inside.

                My favorite wife and I went outside and set for a while in the afternoon sun. It was warm and not breezy, so we enjoyed the quiet afternoon. We returned to the house after about an hour outside and that was when a couple of friends and neighbors came to visit. The ladies sat in the front room talking and I went to the ole office.

                Today, I might go into Waco to get a grocery item, and I would like to go to Arby's and get some lunch sandwiches, but they have done away with the 2 sandwiches for $7.50. The last time I went there each sandwich was $7.50 each.

                I have a photo of some blooms that are in the flower bed in the front yard. Don't look at the weeds, just look at the blooms.

Good morning from us to you, we hope everyone has a good day.

                Nothing exciting happening here at the Ford homestead. We sat outside for a while yesterday afternoon in the warm sun and while we were out there a couple of neighbors dropped by. It was noted that since we are all older people the topics of our conversations were mostly about aches and pains or medicines.

                  Our favorite granddaughter has her birthday tomorrow; she will be 19 years old. We do not know if they have a party planned for her or not but if they do, we will not be able to go.

                I do need to go to the store today and get a few things, I have made a list and hope to be able to find the items.

                Different topic: I get tired of seeing the same things on the TV every day. Now part of this is that when I am doing nothing other than sitting there, I watch too much so-called news and they do repeat the same topics. One channel will show something that is breaking news and later in the day we see the same breaking news. It is only breaking the first time they show it.

                Well, I think I will stop for now and make a cup of coffee then get on the ole recliner and watch the news on TV.

                Good Thursday morning to you, we hope your day is starting off well and that it is an outstanding day for you.

                Big plans for today: I have changed the sheets and pillowcases from our ole bed, I started washing some items in the washing machine, I have vacuumed the floors, and I will need to go to the store for a few items. Wow, who knew The Don could do all those things.

                I took Alex to school this morning on the early schedule. I learned that the school opens the doors at 7:30 and that is the time he is required to be there. He is practicing target practice for ROTC.

                The rehab lady has been here this morning, and she is now gone; my favorite wife seemed to do good with the exercises today.  

                I might go to the George restaurant and get some lunch for us today. I have been thinking some fish for lunch might be good.

                Well, I don't have anything interesting to tell you so I guess I will stop and let you go, we hope you have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

                It is no longer morning here at the Fords homestead, so I will wish you a good afternoon. My day started off kind of badly as I had a small problem with vertigo. I did my exercises that the doctor showed me how to do and I got back to normal in a short while.

                Things I have done today: I went to the bank and checked on a couple things then I went to Ollies and purchased some things for my favorite wife (various batteries). She is working on things that have batteries like candles, angels and other devices. She can do that kind of work without getting out of her chair.

                Speaking of getting out of a chair, she is getting much better moving from one chair to another or getting in and out of the bed.  

I also bought her a soft rubber ball which she can use in her daily exercises, and a box of candy which is now close to her chair.

I vacuumed the floors and then I cleaned the vacuum as it did not seem to be getting everything. This is a battery powered vacuum, and it needed a good cleaning. Yes, I went outside to clean it, I may not be very smart, but I knew it would have a lot of crud inside of it and I don't need it in the house.

I fixed lunch for my favorite wife and myself, and it wasn't great. We have some frozen meals that we can warm in the microwave, and most of them are not that good. I have a pizza in the freezer which I might attempt to fix for supper. Pizza and salad could be good.

A friend dropped by for a short time just to see how we are doing.

                Well, I guess I should get the pizza out of the freezer so I will stop for now. Have a good rest of the day and be safe in all you do.

                We have another cold, good morning here in Hewitt, we hope your day is starting with warmth.

                Yesterday was kind of another day of same things with nothing exciting happening. My favorite wife thought we had some straw that we could put in the manger, but I went and looked and found nothing. Later my favorite wife got in her wheelchair, and I took her out to the garage, and she did not find the straw.

                I decided to see if I could buy some straw, so I went to Wally World, and they did not have any straw. Then, after stopping at the Star coffee place and purchasing a cup I headed into Waco to the Hobby store, and they had some straw. They had about 6 or 8 check-outs and the lines were very long, it seemed as if everyone was there shopping.

                Heading home I stopped and purchased a gallon of unsweet tea for my favorite wife. Back at home I put some straw in the manger, and I think it looks better now.

                We had sandwiches for supper, and the meat was left over from the food Dave and Alex brought to us Sunday.

                I decided to not go to Bible study last night as I do not want to leave my wife home alone at night. I will leave her alone for a while during daytime but not at night. If there was an emergency she would not be able to do much, maybe she could move around a little in the wheelchair but that isn't easy on the carpet. I have been doing my bible study homework, and I would like to go to the meetings. As I have stated before, I can see the lecture on the computer the next day.

                I need to get Alex and take him to school this morning and the person from rehab is supposed to be here about 11:00am.

I have a photo showing that the trees in the front yard are starting to turn color.

December 8, 2025

                We wish you a good morning and hope it is warm wherever you are. It is 33 degrees according to the Alexa, and that is too cold.

                Yesterday was also a cold day and my favorite wife and I did nothing, literally nothing. We sat here in the house hoping to find something interesting on the TV and we found nothing.

Now I did at lunch time go to the cracker store and purchased two meals for us, and that place was full of people. If we had gone there planning on eating inside, we would have had to wait 30 minutes or more to be seated.

                Yesterday evening Dave and Alex came over with food for our supper, and it was good. We had pork chops with green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy along with some very nice rolls. I now have some leftovers for lunch today.

                We have no plans for today; I did not need to take Alex to school so I am just sitting here in front of this ole laptop computer wondering what I might do. We need some straw for the manger, and my favorite wife believes there may be some in a box in the garage. I will probably move the van out of the garage and see if I can find the box. If not, I might need to drive in to Waco and purchase some straw.   

                We have bible study this evening and I am considering going to the class but not staying for the lecture. I can see the lecture the next day on my computer, if they send me the address. I do not like to leave My favorite wife alone as she can not answer the door if someone comes to the door, but our Dog Tres can let anyone who comes to the door know he is there guarding my favorite wife.

                I have made a cup of home-brewed coffee, and it is rather strong, and I will take it to the ole recliner and see if I can get some rest after all this strenuous data entry (aka Nap).

            We want to wish you a good morning this Sunday from us here in Hewitt, Texas. I hope to post a photo in this post.

            What did The Don do yesterday, nothing much. During the day he was allowed to wash some clothes which are mostly his as his favorite wife has been wearing mostly PJs (aka Pajamas). During that time, he was allowed to go and purchase some food from a drive-through restaurant. After eating The Don was allowed to remove the items from the washer and put them in the dryer.

The Don asked his favorite wife if she wanted to go outside and sit in the sun as he was going to work on the manger. While she was sitting there and he was working, a friend dropped by and visited his favorite wife, as he attempted to work. The neighbor kids came over and visited for a while. There were a bunch of questions as to what I was doing and why I was doing it, by the kids.

It took longer than I had expected, but I got most of the manger done. We still need some straw to put in and around the manger. I had a couple photos taken after the lights came on.

            I was able to get everything put away and push my favorite wife's wheelchair back into the house. We did receive food for our supper from Dave and family yesterday evening, and it was good!

                Good morning to all even though mine started out good but suddenly went to not so good. I had done my morning duties and was heading to the ole desk in the so-called office area. I had a glass of milk in hand and a breakfast sandwich in the microwave. I placed the glass of milk on the desk and then knocked it over. Milk was on the desk and on the floor and it took some time to clean it up. I now know that my computer mouse had milk inside it. The computer was safe, and I am now using it. This must mean I am going to have a day filled with interesting events.

                Yesterday I ventured out to the shed and after moving items out I was able to get a few Christmas decorations that go in the manger seen. Photo of the shed and items that needed to be moved to get to the back.

                I did put the manger together and I was assuming that Alex would be here today to help put up a few decorations, but he is not. He had something he needed to attend and I think it had to do with ROTC.

                I guess if anything gets done today it will be me alone doing it.

                I need to get a cup of coffee, not from the Star coffee place and see if there is anything my favorite wife wants me to do.

                Again, we wish you a good morning. I do not need to take Alex to school this morning as his friend is going to pick him up on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I get him on Tuesday and Thursday. I need to ask him how he is doing in the ROTC target practice.

It was cold here again yesterday and I needed to get outside and water the flowers in the hot house but without any sun it would be cold and wet.

                The cleaning lady came to our house and has been cleaning each room. Also, the lady from health care (aka rehab) came to our house and showed us some of the exercises my favorite wife will need to be doing in order to recover.

                Lunch time came and the cleaning lady had brough her lunch and she started eating. I decided to go to the chicken salad place to get our lunch. After eating we were talking with the cleaning lady and we noted that we were from Missouri, so she asked what part of Missouri, and we said Cape. She was surprised and she said she was also from Cape. We talked about Missouri for a while then she got back to work. She did a really good job and will be back in 2 weeks.

                I did get outside and watered the flowers in the hot house. I had just started watering when I received a call from a neighbor who had some Chili for our supper. I stopped watering and headed into the house to receive free Texas style chili. Texas chili does not have beans in it. There were also some muffins, and supper was all good.

                No big plans for today I may go to get some groceries today and if it isn't too cold I might go to the shed and see if I can find some things.

                There will not be many Christmas presents here at the Ford house this year, we bought the gifts from Gabi's list, and we have not received any list for anyone else, so we will give money, and they can get what they want. I do need to go to the bank to check on a couple things next week, maybe I can get some money to use for gifts.

                I do have a photo of the Christmas tree that is in the Ford's ole homestead.

                This may be a good morning, and I hope it is better than yesterday morning, which was good but odd. Now I have your attention, I will attempt to explain what was odd about yesterday morning. It had nothing to do with getting Alex to school, but I do have a comment about Alex. Alex is in ROTC, and he got a promotion yesterday. He is now a Sargent in intelligence. In ROTC they have ranks and jobs, so Alex is Sargent Ford in the intelligence area.

                Now let's get back to the odd morning; my favorite wife had an appointment at the doctor, so we loaded her up in the car that we had borrowed from David. We arrived at the doctor's office and my favorite wife got onto the wheelchair, and I pushed her inside. At the check-in we learned that the appointment was for today (Wednesday) not yesterday (Tuesday). Yep, I read the appointment day wrong. If it had not been for my favorite wife getting in and out of the wheelchair several times it would have been funny.

                Today I do not need to take Alex to school, he has a ride with a friend, but tomorrow he needs to be at school an hour early,

Big plan for today, we do need to go back to the doctor this morning. Also, today may be recycling day as I see some recycle bins are being placed by the curb, my recycling bin is full.

December 2, 2025

                It is a cold good morning here at the ford homestead. It was 31 degrees according to Ford's ole temp gage. We are supposed to warm up to the 50s today with a lot of sun lite.

                I was able to take Alex to school on time this morning and I learned that he will be promoted today in his ROTC class. I think he will be a Sargent. He will need to be at school earlier than usual this Thursday, as he has some shooting practice. They use BB guns in their rifle range.

Taking him earlier makes it difficult for me as I must be here to get my favorite wife out of bed each morning. I will need to leave the house no later than 7:00am to get him to school by 7:30am.

Well, I missed bible study last night even though I had completed the homework. My focus was on getting supper for my wife and making sure she was comfortable, when I remembered that it was Monday and the meeting.

I guess I should stop now as we need to get dressed for the doctor's appointment which is this morning. We hope you all have a good day and stay safe in all you do.

                We are having another cool and rainy good morning. I did get Alex to school on time.

                As you should know my favorite wife has a broken leg and now, we have another leg problem. Yep, the Tres has hurt his back leg. We are not sure what happened, but he started limping a little yesterday and now he is limping a lot.

                Doing nothing if you are not hurt can be fun and restful, being hurt and doing nothing is aggravating and no fun at all. My favorite wife goes to her doctor tomorrow I guess for a review of all that has happened.  

                Plans for today are to possibly get some containers out of the closet and see if they have Christmas tree decorations in them. We have the tree up but no decorations just the lights that come with the tree.

                The cleaning lady is supposed to be here at noon to clean the house. My favorite wife is not happy about having someone other than her or me to clean the house. We will see how this goes.

                Well, it is a good cold morning here in Hewitt Texas. We are in the low 40s this morning and they say we will be in the 40s all day. Has winter now arrived? I do have the hot house shut up and the heat lamps ready to help keep it above freezing. Speaking of the hot house, the other day when I was watering the potted plants I got a photo of a small bloom.

                We did not do much yesterday; we were able to sit outside for a while yesterday afternoon as the sun was shining and it was not cold. Last night I practiced using the washing machine and dryer. Today I hope to go to the Cracker store and get lunch for us, I also need to get gas in the Fords Ole Chevy. I think we will be making a list if items we may need from the store. I don't mind shopping, but I don't always know where to look for the items needed.

                My favorite wife is doing good for someone who can't get up and walk. Her major pain is still due to the sciatic nerve pain. If that went away, she would be much happier.

                It is a good cloudy morning here at the Ford's homestead, and it appears that we may have had some rain over night.

                We were able to accomplish a few things yesterday; Alex came over and mowed the back 40. We also removed some of the remaining fall items from the front yard. I was able to get a Christmas tree from the shed, and we brought it to the house where Alex and I sat it up. This tree has lights on it so we now have a tree in the front room. It does not have the decorations that my favorite wife usually put on it, they are in several totes in the closets and it would be a real job to get them out, then choose the ones needed for the tree and then put all the others back. My favorite wife not only decorates one tree but several trees and most of the house.

                I can't say there is any change in my favorite wife's condition, her leg is still broken her sciatic nerve pain is still there.

                Different topic: during the week the morning TV shows are somewhat news orientated, but they talk about many topics' news and otherwise. I do not like the advertising they display, attempting to get you to buy these items. Those parts of the show are nothing more than a commercial. I turn the sound off when commercials come on both on the TV and the car radio.  

                Today's events: I think my favorite wife wants me to go into Waco and do a couple things for her, and I assume there will be a lot of sitting around and doing nothing.

                It is a good cool morning here in Hewitt Texas.

                We had a good Thanksgiving celebration yesterday and we hope you did also.

                There is nothing new here at the homestead today although I might have Alex come over and do some yard work. Part of the back 40 is still growing, so we may have him mow. There are other projects that we need to get done like some, not all, the Christmas decorations could be set up. Finding the needed items is a challenge. I know the Christmas trees are in the very back of the shed and there are many items in front of them that would need to be moved out of the shed and then replaced. Since I know where things are located I would need to do the work. Also, I know how I want the not used items placed back into the shed.

                I do know that the decorations that go on the Christmas tree are in a closet, but where in the closet I do not know.

Is that too much work for a senior ole person?

                It is Thanksgiving Day and it is also a good morning. I am sitting here at the computer at 11:00am, so it is late morning. We are waiting for the family to arrive currently.

In prep of the families' arrival, I did use the leaf blower to remove some leaves and debris from the driveway and the front sidewalk. I also went to the grocery store for some sweet tea and a gallon of milk. Returning to the house, I took a short nap and then I vacuumed the floors. The table is set with the plates and eating utensils. We had decided to use paper plates and throw away utensils so there would be much less clean up after the meal.

My favorite wife is dressed and sitting in the wheelchair waiting for things to start. As usual the pain from the sciatic nerve problem is the most debilitating. Any time she attempts to get out of a chair onto another, there is pain. If we could get rid of the sciatic nerve problem things would be a lot better.

Our families did make it here and we had a very good meal with a lot of interesting conversations. They brough all the food and they did most of the clean up after the meal was over. A good day with our family.

                Good Wednesday morning to all, I might put a photo of a flower in this post.

                In review of yesterday, we took my favorite wife to the doctor's office yesterday. When I say we I mean my son David and I, since my favorite wife can get into and out of his car with a little help. We did not see the doctor, but we saw his PA, which means Physician Assistant. We saw the leg with about 50 staples in it. They did not stitch the leg, instead they stapled all the cuts. The staples were removed and there is no infection. The leg is doing ok but it will be a while before she will be allowed to walk on it.

                Different topic: we have talked with a lady who will clean our house for us while my favorite wife is in recovery mode. This lady can't start until Monday, so I vacuumed all the floors today. I did get a bunch of dog hair as Tres does shed a lot.  

                I probably should go to the store today but since it is the day before thanksgiving, I assume there will be no parking up close and too many people there shopping.

                Speaking of Thanksgiving, we will be having the meal here at our house, but we are not doing the cooking. Dave and his family, along with Patrick and Karla, will be cooking and bringing the food. I believe there will be 10 people here and the house will be overflowing with people.

                Thinking about the possibility of food, my favorite wife could not come up with something she wanted for breakfast this morning, so I went and got a breakfast burrito. She said her mouth was burning due to the hot sauce.  

                Another subject: I did water the plants in the so-called hot house yesterday afternoon and while I was in the hot house I took a photo of a pretty bloom.

                Good morning to all, we hope everyone has a good day.

                Yesterday was another day of sitting around for my favorite wife, as she still can't walk on the broken leg. She will be going to the Doctor today and we hope the news is good. We do not know if they will be removing any of the staples today, but they will be removing the dressing from the injury, and we will get to see it for the first time.

                Speaking of doctors, I did go to the eye doctor yesterday and they did all the tests and as usual, they took some photos of my eyes. The Doctor said everything seems to be normal and I will go back in 9 months. They dilated my eyes, and it took several hours for my eyes to get back to normal.

                We had some friends come to the house today and they brought food for us. The food was a Mexican Cornbread Casserole, this was the first time we had it, and it is good. It seems as if all our neighbors are good people. I will also say when they bring food, they bring a lot of food. We have not been without food since she got out of the hospital.

                Speaking of food, I have a photo of our dog Tres as he was watching my favorite wife eating. He was very focused on her hoping she would drop something.

                We did get more rain yesterday and it was about ¾ inch. I have not needed to run the lawn sprinklers for a few days now, maybe I am saving some money.

                It is a cool good morning here in Hewitt, with a temp of 50 degrees.

                We did get some work done yesterday as noted in yesterday's post.

                We had a visit from another neighbor and good friends yesterday afternoon, and they brought food. The soup was known as steak soup, yes it had pieces of steak in it and it was good; they also brought other items such as cookies. We are blessed with neighbors who are also good friends.  

                Since my favorite wife can't get up and walk, we have been doing very little other than sitting in the chairs and watching TV. We both tend to drift off into sleep while sitting there.

Good day to all, it is after 2:30 before I start this short post.

                Today's activities: I did get Alex to come over and do some yard work; he did pickup sticks from the front yard and then he mowed. The mowing was with the grass catcher on the mower, so he removed most of the leaves in the yard. He then trimmed the front yard, and it looked very nice. Alex then removed most of the fall decorations from the yard and took them to the shed.

                At the shed we did get some Christmas lights out, these lights are the lights that go on the roof edge and around the flower beds. We verified that we had the supplies needed to install the lights, but we did not install them, that will be done in a day or two.

                Yesterday our good friends and neighbor came to our rescue with some taco soup. It was good yesterday evening and again today at noon. They also brought some corn bread to eat with the soup, and it was outstanding. They also brought a dessert that had a flavor like lemons, but it had no lemons in it. It is a blessing to have good friends.

                My favorite wife is still having pain in her back from the sciatic nerve problem. The leg with the broken bone hurts at times, but the back pain seems to be the worst pain. It is most prominent when we help her move from one place to another. She can't walk so her movement is in the wheelchair.

                We are having a good rainy morning, and we needed the rain. We only got a little over 3 inches of rain and there is water standing in the back 40.

                We are learning to adjust to this new way of living, it is sometimes difficult when a person cannot get up out of a chair and do the things they have always done. We are adjusting to this situation and hopefully it will not be too long before we are back to normal or at least close to normal. I am learning new things daily.

                Another good friend brought us some chicken and tea yesterday afternoon for our supper. All of our neighbors are friends, and some are like family. Big thanks to my good friends.

                Plans for today, I do need to go to the store for a couple things for my wife, other than that just be here for my favorite wife.

                Good day from our home we are not at the hospital.

                When I arrived that the hospital yesterday morning my favorite wife had finished her breakfast and was very happy. She was laughing and kidding around as a lady was there discussing her medicine list with her.

                I just learned that I would need to remove the wrap that covers her bandages and replace it every other day when at home. This wrap goes from her foot to above her knee. I have watched them take the wrap off and put it back on several times, and they gave me a paper with instructions. It sounds like I will be doing a lot for a while. They gave me some new wrap to use.

                We have learned that she will need to go to the doctor (surgeon) on the 25^th at 11:00am. That will be the first time we have seen the area of the incision. David will take her there in his car as the seats in the truck and van are too high for her to get onto. Luckly, Dave is on vacation next week.

                They brought us a knew wheelchair a little before we got ready to leave yesterday afternoon, the insurance covers that.

                At home things are very difficult for me as any time we attempt to move Donna she has very bad pain. The pain has very little to do with her leg, it is her back and the sciatic nerve pain. If we could get rid of that we would be way ahead.

                My favorite wife is not allowed to walk on that broken leg but she can stand on it.

                Today I have been attempting to do my normal things and do her normal things too. I do not know why but as soon as I begin to work here in the house I start to sweat and yes, the air conditioner is on. Today I have divided out pills by morning and evening I need to go to the store and get some vitamin D pills, and a few other items. I washed two loads of clothes and dried them, I vacuumed the floors, and I watered the potted plants in the hot house, I took Alex to school, and I helped my wife in and out of the chairs. I could say I made lunch, but I just warmed up leftovers from last night's supper. A neighbor brought us a shepherd's pie, salad and breakfast. Neighbors be good!

                I am tired and I am not done.
