                Is it a good morning where you are? It is a good morning here!

                Let us look at how yesterday started. I did get a cup of coffee from the star coffee place, and I did get Alex to school on time. I did start the Fords ole van and back it out of the garage as it had not been started for a while and then I swept up the leaves from the garage floor. I used the leaf blower to get the small debris out.

                I went through the mail and was able to toss some items out, and I found one bill to pay.  

                I did go through the house with the wheelchair, and I am able to get to most of the places except for the toilets. They are providing us with a seat that will be used for the toilet until she can walk. My favorite wife did very good in yesterday's morning practice and they say I will be involved in the practice today.

                This afternoon we will be heading home. I hope I have everything ready. We tried to get my favorite wife into the Ford's ole pickup, but the seat was too high, and she could not get in. David will come and pick her up this afternoon as his car is much lower. A friend has called and will bring some food on Saturday for my favorite wife and I, that means I do not need to attempt to cook something.  

                Well, I need to get going and get Alex to school, we hope you have a very good day and stay safe in all you do.

                Good morning from us to you, we hope your day will be safe and happy.

                Monday morning after dropping Alex off at school I drove to the post office to get stamps. Stamps acquired I headed to the hospital, and I walked to my favorite wife's room. I opened the door, and she was lying there in a dark room asleep; it was 8:30am. Next to her bed was her breakfast, it had been there for at least an hour, and it was cold. No one had come in to get her ready to eat. I did complain and they have now put a note on the door to wake her when breakfast is served.

                Yesterday they showed her how to get into and out of a vehicle, they said we may go outside tomorrow and try getting into our truck, we are not going home it is just practice. They have loaned me a wheelchair to take to the house and see where we will have problems getting around. My favorite wife will not be able to walk for quite a while.

                I also missed another bible study meeting Monday evening.

                Today I will take Alex to school and then it will be another day here at the hospital. We hope the rehab helps when we do get back home.

Good morning to all, we hope everyone has a good day.  

                Yesterday (Sunday) was a day of doing nothing at the hospital and we were both bored all day. That afternoon I decided to go to the store and get a few things like cat and dog food, and some milk and breakfast sandwiches for me. I thought someone would come up and visit my favorite wife while I was gone but no one dropped by. I did get a few items and took them to the house. I did feed Tres about an hour early and he did not seem to care that it was early. I then went into Waco and got a couple sandwiches and took them back to the hospital where we both ate one. A few minutes later they brought her supper, and my favorite wife did not eat any of it, as she was already full.

                I guess on Sunday the employees at the hospital do not do much, during the week they come in and out of the room at least every hour but they do not on Sunday. I will be glad to get the house ready and then get her home.  

This morning, I need to take Alex to school so I will be a little later than usual to get to the hospital. I also need to get some stamps so I can mail a bill or two.

                I have no idea what the rehab will be today, it is mostly showing her how to get up and sit down and put on her clothes. They have given her some tools to help put on her socks, shoes and pants without bending over. She is not allowed to walk on the broken leg, but she can stand on it when moving from a chair to the bed and so on.  

                Well, I guess I will get going, we hope you have a good day and be safe in all you do. We do appreciate all your prayers.

                The weather is very nice on this Sunday morning, so, we wish you a good morning.

                We have no big plans for the day; we will sit around here in the hospital and do nothing all day while my favorite wife complains about the food. She has been eating it even though it is not tasty.

                I did clean a few things in the homestead this morning and I wish we had a wheelchair at the house so I could push it around making sure I will be able to get her around when she get back home. There are many things that may be a small problem like a doll standing near a door and so on.  

                Tres and I went out to the front yard this morning and he left a deposit while we were out there. I need to get the yard man over to do some yard work, but he doesn't drive so I will need to be home.

                We wish you all a good afternoon and hope your day went well.

                As you may have noticed, I did not send a post this morning. I arrived at the hospital believing my favorite wife would not need to do any PT today, but we were wrong. We spent all morning that is up to 11:00am in rehab. They said Sunday will be a day of rest for my favorite wife.

Our son Patrick arrived and after a short visit I went home to move some items around to make the room accessible for a wheelchair. The work was difficult, and I was very tired when I completed the project.  

                Now when I say completed, I finished the things I wanted to do today and there are several other things I will need to do. The old house will be difficult to access with the wheelchair.

                Dave and Claire also came to visit while I was gone.

                My favorite wife is doing good and there is a possibility she will be coming home this week and that is why I need to get things ready. I also need to wash some items tonight, and I don't really know how to operate the washing machine.    

                I received a call today from an ole friend of mine. When I say ole, I mean a friend from when I was a teenager. It was a good conversation, and this was not the only call an ole friend.

                This morning is starting to look good, so we will offer you a good morning.

                What has the Don done this morning? Well, he got up and made a cup of coffee and watched the TV for about 15 minutes. He then got dressed and checked the cat's litter box; someone has to do it. Knowing that the flowers in the hot house needed to be watered, he proceeded outside and watered all the plants. Since he did not sit at his desk this morning, he did not get a breakfast sandwich and put it in the microwave for his breakfast. Yep, he forgot to eat breakfast! Leaving the homestead for the hospital he decided to stop at the Star coffee place and get a cup. Arriving at the hospital he went to the check in, and the lady looked at him and said, "you are here to see Donna". Wow, I guess she has a good memory, and I have checked in many times.

                Yesterday: My favorite wife was not happy with the rehab workout, as her sciatic nerve was irritated and that caused a lot of pain. The broken bone in her leg isn't causing pain at this time.

                We do not know what the schedule is for the day, they bring us a schedule each morning for that day's schedule. They do not do any rehab over the weekend.

                I had been trying to determine where I will move a cabinet that is in the way when we have the wheelchair at the house. I had commented that I did not know where to put it after I removed all the items, and my favorite wife suggested that I could move the exercise bike that is in the bedroom and put the cabinet there. She has a good idea so I will attempt to do that.

                Good morning to all, our day is starting off nicely and we hope yours is also.

                Yesterday's rehab went well, my favorite wife did good, and we started again today. On a slightly different subject we were talking about our dog and my favorite wife said I bet he misses me. We decided to make a short video of her talking to the dog. When I showed him the video he had an odd look and he was kind of looking around like where is she at, as he heard her voice.

                Different topic: There are Several things I need to do here at the house before my favorite wife comes home from the hospital. But spending the day at the hospital with her keeps me from doing things here at the house. I did get Away from the hospital yesterday for a while, I came home and fed the dog and then went back and sat with her.

                We are very thankful for all the calls and prayers from our friends.

                I guess I should get going, I am taking Alex to school before I head to the hospital. We hope you have a good day and please be safe in all you do.

Good morning to all.

                Donna has gone through her first physical therapy session, and it was very tiring for her. She went through a second therapy yesterday which will include taking a shower and that was good.

                I have been very tired and sleepy due to the long days here at the hospital. 7:00 am to 9:00 or 10:00 pm. That is a lot of hours, and I haven't been getting any naps.  

                My favorite wife received another very pretty flower, and I will provide you with a photo.

 

                 Well, I am back at the hospital, and I had a good night's sleep for a change, and I feel much better. This morning, I took my time getting ready to go and that helped me. I did some measuring areas like doors and hallways to make sure my favorite wife could get through the house in a wheelchair. We will need to move a couple of items to make room for a wheelchair. Never any rest for an ole senor person.

               There are fall decorations in the house and I know my favorite wife will want them removed, and some Christmas decorations in their place. Finding the correct place to put the fall decorations is one thing and then I will need to bring Christmas decorations from the shed to the house.

                They have scheduled today's rehabs, and she is in one now. Donnas seems to be in a good mood this morning, a very positive mood. She suggested that I get a video of her speaking to the Dog Tres and then show it to him tonight. I wonder how he will respond.

                Odd note: for some reason I feel as if I am out of town when I am here at the hospital. It is that I am inside and not seeing any of the usual views and driving home in the dark. I said it was odd.

                Here we are starting another good morning in the hospital, we hope your morning is bright and shiny.

                Yesterday's events: I went to the Hospital early morning to see how my favorite wife was doing, and she was still sleepy. They did come in and do some rehab with her and later a lady came in and said they were working with the doctor and the insurance to get her started on rehab three times a day.

                On a different subject we have received calls from many friends and some that we have worked with in years past. It is nice to hear from all these people.

                Topic change: a friend came in and stayed with my favorite wife while I went home. Back at the house I did have a sandwich to eat, and I also took a shower. After the shower I went to the hair stylists and allowed her to cut my hair. While I was in the chair I almost went to sleep as she was removing hair from my head. Yes, I needed a nap, and the hair removal felt good.

                Back at the hospital I decided to start on this posting. They will probably be moving my favorite wife to another area of the hospital (aka rehab).

                My favorite wife received a very nice bouquet of flowers yesterday and I will provide a photo.

                 Bible study was on Monday night and it was the first one during this study period that I missed. I guess we can't make them all.  

                They moved my favorite wife to the rehab area of the hospital yesterday afternoon late and she is not happy. There are some changes that she will need to get use to.

                We will see what happens on this first day of rehab. We have been told that she will receive three hours of rehab, one hour at a time, and this rehab as I understand it is to make her able to do small things enabling her to be able to go home and get back to her almost normal life.

                I learned that our bible study group are praying for here complete recovery. We appreciate any and all prayers from anyone.

                The doctor is here and asking all types of questions. I guess it all starts now.

While I am here, I am unable to do small things at home so I hope to be able to get away for a couple hours each day to do things like by a few groceries or learn how to use the washing machine. Wow things can change.

            Good morning to one and all on what was to be a freezing cold day. We did not get to freezing we did get to 40 in Hewitt. I did wear a coat to the hospital this morning.

I haven't eaten much for the last few days; I have a normal breakfast but nothing at the hospital.  

            Being at the hospital we do not get to sit outside so I have not had an adult beverage since Wednesday evening, and we have not waved at any friends. Speaking of friends, we have received a bunch of calls from neighbors and friends, even friends we haven't seen for a while. We are thankful for all the kindness being shown to us.

            Having the computer here gives me something to do when my favorite wife is sleeping. One thing I did while she was sleeping was a photo of me just for you…

            Our dog Tres is wondering what is going on with us, both gone all day and most of the night. Dave has been feeding the dog every afternoon and we appreciate that.

             Sunday, we have visits from a neighbor and her daughter and from Patrick and Karla.  

            I need to get my hair cut; I was going to get my hair cut last Friday but that did not happen. I might be able to get away from the hospital today and go to the hair stylists. I do not like to leave my favorite wife here all alone, even though the meds they are giving her seem to make her sleep a lot.

                Let's see if it is another good morning, it is cool and windy outside this morning and the sun isn't up yet, but we are still wishing you a good morning and a good day.

                Well, we were in the hospital yesterday and we had a couple of visitors. I should note, a visitor who came Friday brought some very nice flowers.

                My favorite wife will be staying here at the hospital for a while; they will be doing rehab trying to get her back to normal body functions and improve her strength.

                I did get away from the hospital for a couple hours yesterday to do some things at the homestead. There were two friends who stayed with my favorite wife while I went to the house. Not being at home during most of the day right now and half of the night means nothing gets done. Heck Tres the dog is wondering what we are doing.

I was able to water the flowers in the hot house, and I shut the door getting ready for the upcoming winter weather. I checked the heat lamp and made sure it would work. They have said we will be close to freezing in a day or so.

                I vacuumed the floor in the house, not the hot house but the real house. I did write some checks for some bills that needed to be paid, which my favorite wife usually does. I got a couple things that my favorite wife wanted me to bring to the hospital, and I got the computer to bring with me to the hospital. Bringing the computer allows me to work on this post while my favorite wife is sleeping.

                We have had calls from many friends, some of them we have not talked with in a long time, you know real friends from the past. We do appreciate prayer from everyone. We are expecting Patrick and Karla to come up and visit today.

November 8 2025

                It is a good morning here in the hospital, my favorite wife is eating her breakfast, which consists of fruit and apple juice. The doctor was here, and he said things look good, we will be here for a couple more days, and maybe longer. Longer if we get her to take the rehab.   

                For that one person who doesn't know, we are in the Scott and White Hospital and my favorite wife has broken her leg and has had surgery which they said was a success.

                What happened: My favorite wife and a friend had gone to a rest home with a bunch of stuffed animals which they were donating. The nursing home was excited to get them. Donna and Nellie were walking down a hall when one of Donna's shoes stuck to the floor as she was attempting to take a step. As her foot pulled out of the shoe it kept her from taking a step, she tripped and fell on her right knee. Broken femur and knee cap. She was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Now we are praying for a quick recovery.

                We have had several friends and family come to visit and we have had many calls from friends; we are thankful for all our friends!

                I will attempt to change the topic and show you a photo of a bush that I have seen, and it reminds me of a mummy from Egypt.

            Good morning to all and we hope you have a good day.

            Yesterday was a do-nothing day, I did get Alex to school on time and my favorite wife, and I went to the mechanic shop, we both needed to know where it was as it had moved since the last time we used it. I did my bible study homework, and I did sit outside on the front porch with a cup of coffee and enjoy the afternoon.

            Later in the day my favorite wife and I had discussions about Christmas decorations, I may go to the shed today and see if I can find the ones we were talking about without needing to move too much stuff.

            The weather was warm, so we washed the dog in the back 40. He seemed to like it and he smells much better now. I have a photo of Tres before his bath.

            A friend did come over yesterday afternoon, and we all sat outside discussing many things including a couple bible topics. As usual, most of the topics were about family and things from our past.

            Today I need to take Alex to school and then take the truck to the mechanic, my favorite wife will pick me up from the mechanic. Then later in the afternoon, hopefully I will have the truck back, I will need to go to the skin doctor for a checkup. Assuming I have any money left after all that, we might be able to go out for a date night (aka supper).

            We are starting a good morning here in Hewitt and we hope you are also.

            Yesterday I ordered some items that will be Christmas gifts and this morning one of the cartons was lying on the front porch. That was an overnight delivery.

            I am sitting here attempting to think of anything that I may have done yesterday other than sitting on the front porch with a cup of homemade coffee and enjoying the nice weather. I often think about things that are in the bible during these restful periods. One thought from yesterday was, "the Tree of Life". Why was there a tree of life in The Garden of Eden and why would there be one in New Jerusalem.

            I can see that you are thinking what is the Don going to come up with as a reason for the tree of Life. Let's see where I go with this, at this time I do not have a reason for the Tree of life, but I might come up with one. I know that some have never heard of the tree of life as they have never been to church or have not read the bible. I will not attempt to explain to those who have no knowledge of the bible about the Tree of Life, and I will not attempt to explain about the Tree of Knowledge.

            My intent is to ask the question, "why was there a Tree of Life in the garden of Eden". As I understand it, there were all types of plants and trees in the Garden of Eden, and they were all available to Adam and he was to cultivate and take care of the plants. Adam was not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge, if he did, he would surely die.

            I wonder if the idea was that Adam would eat from the tree of life and live forever in the garden.

            If you were to eat from the tree of life one time, would you live forever, or do you need to eat from the tree on a regular basis. Do you age when you eat from the Tree of Life or stay the same age for ever.

Some people in the Old Testament lived for hundreds of years. Example, Methuselah lived for 969 years, and Noah lived 950 years. Were these people who lived extremely long lives allowed to eat from the tree of life? Evidently the fruit from the tree of life was able to keep all diseases and illness away from the person.

If at some point in their life they would no longer be given the fruit from the tree, would their bodies begin to show their actual age and then they would die?

The tree would provide 12 kinds of fruit and have fruit each month. That would point to the fact that there is only one season for the entire year where the Tree would grow.  

In another part of the bible there is a statement that the leaves on the tree of life are said to be for the healing of the nations. (Genesis 3:22 -24      Revelations 2 and 22)

Well as you can see, I have not answered my question as to "why was the tree of Life there". I will just stop for now and wish you a good day and hope that we all stay safe in all we do.

                It is a good morning again here in Hewit and we hope you are having a good morning also.

                Yesterday's events: I was able to get Alex to school safely and on time and after I returned home and took it easy for a while, I headed out to the car dealership where I was astonished. Now I had called the dealership and had an appointment for 10:30 yesterday, and I arrived a couple minutes early. I walked inside and said my name and I had an appointment. He looked in the computer and he said "you do" and then he asked "has anybody talked to you about the amount of time it's going to take to fix this", and I said "no", and he said "it would take five days or more to fix your car, he noted that they were very busy". I said no my car's not staying here for 5 days or more and I turned and walked away.

                If it was going to take that long to do something, why would they not have told me when they made the appointment. Why did I have an appointment to show up and leave my car for five or more days? That is stupid!

                I returned home and after a while I called a local mechanic and told him what my problem was, he said that his wife's vehicle, which is one year newer than mine, had the same problem, and he replaced the screen in it. He said they would get the price and give me a call and tell me what it cost.

                The rest of the day I kind of took it easy waiting for time to go to Bible study I did read the notes ahead of time which basically is cheating, you're not supposed to read the notes until after the lecture. Personally, I find the notes very interesting, but the lecture is not.

                Today's events: other than getting Alex off to school hopefully on time and safely I have no real big plans for the day we'll just have to see how things go.

            Good morning to you as we see the sun coming up. The time change means it is brighter outside earlier in the morning.

            I have a couple comments from yesterday and some photos. Allow me to start off with a photo of something that I made. No, it is not a bird house that comes later. This item, like many items I have made, comes from left over wood. It has been a bunch of years since I made this set of dominos.

            In the photo we see the set of dominos and the wood box that I had made probably 15 years ago. I have a couple out of the box so you can see there are two layers in the box. This is a one-of-a-kind item, handmade by Don the Ford and probably worth thousands of dollars, or not. An item like this is something you make for the fun of it, as it takes time and effort.

            Yesterday we went to the cracker store for lunch and upon returning home I did very little as my favorite wife went through a bunch of clothes that she no longer wears. As for me, after a rest period and that rest period was not a nap as I was not sleepy, I then decided to go to the garage and put together the rest of the bird houses.

Speaking of bird houses, we have a couple hanging on the car port that were in the pecan tree that we cut down. These houses have nest in them and there have been birds using them, I assume they are getting ready for winter.

I did get the other 5 bird houses put together and I think there are now 9 bird houses hanging on the carport, photo to follow.

            Yesterday afternoon we were able to sit outside as the weather was very nice. The neighbor's grandkids came over and the girl had made a drawing for us. She had it wrapped in a plastic bag, and it was tape shut. I have a photo. 

I asked if it was a school project and she said no she did it at home and she did it for both of us. I think she is going to be an artist. Jaelyn is her name, and I guess she is 10 years old. Her and her little brother come over and visit with us sometimes as we sit outside.

Different subject, I did get a photo of what was almost a full moon coming up.

            I know everyone has seen the moon but I find it interesting when they are in the sky while the sun is still in the sky.

            Today I need to take the truck to the dealer for some repair. We do have bible study this evening and other than that no big plans. I will stop for now, we hope you have a good day and please stay safe in all you do.

            The time has now changed back an hour, and I will be thinking about the time change all day. Even with the time change we want to wish you a good morning.

            Yesterday's small events described for you. Basically, we did nothing yesterday so this will be a short comment. I will start out with a comment, "Saturday was seeming to be Sunday all day long". The fact that we had Alex over doing yard work on Friday when he normally works for us on Saturday was one reason.

I did get my bible study homework completed and I truly wish I was a better student. I have never been a good student, but I do like our bible study classes.

My favorite wife and I went out to lunch at the usual location and after lunch we drove to the Harbor store as I had a 25% off coupon. I need a new tarp to cover the Ford's ole riding lawnmower. They did not have a tarp the size and color I wanted, as a matter of fact they had very few tarps.

Leaving the no tarp store we then stopped by the booze store where I purchased a bottle of adult beverage. Then we went to the cheap store where my favorite wife purchased a couple items and then we headed home. Back at home I went into the rest mode for a while (aka took a nap).

Once the rest period was over, I decided to make a cup of coffee, Tres and I went to the front porch where we sat in the cool air drinking hot coffee. It was too cool and there was a lite breeze so as soon as the coffee was finished, we went into the garage.

I decided to work on the bird houses as I need the area where the pieces were stored. I did need to saw a little piece off a couple of the boards, and I did drill the holes for the front door and the dowel that the birds stand on. The one hole for the front door was messed up a little, but I don't think the birds will mind. I put one house together and I might put more together today. Usually, I don't have any problems giving them away.

After I became tired of working on the bird houses, ole people get tired easily, we decided to sit outside for a little while even though it was cool. I got the chairs ready on the driveway, and we both walked out there when it started to sprinkle. Not knowing if it was going to rain a lot or just these little sprinkles, we decided to go to the front porch. It sprinkled for a while but nothing of any amount.

There is a fellow and his family who have been living at a friend's house down the street from us and every time he goes by, he will roll his window down and wave at us and we return the wave. Well, he and his wife and kids are moving out. Who will we have to wave at now, wow a friend leaves the neighborhood. You don't think it was something that I said, do you?  

As for today, even though the time has changed we may still go to the cracker store for lunch.

                We are starting over today; it is the first day of the month and now you understand starting over. I wish you a good morning on the first day of the month.

                I am sitting here with a banana in hand and in my mouth as I start this day. Bananas are good for ole people as we do not need to waste a lot of energy chewing on them. I will attempt to enlighten you as to yesterday's events, if my memory provides me with necessary information.

                I did get my favorite grandson and bring him to our homestead to help with some yard work. First, we started moving the flowers that are in pots to the ole hot house. There were between 15 and 20 pots that were moved and all were heavy. I do have a photo of some of the flowers in the hot house.

                Then we move the plumerias into the garage. They take up too much room wherever you place them. We have one very large plant (moon plant) that did not get moved. It is too large for the hot house and there is no room in the garage.

                After all the pots were moved Alex mowed the front yard. As I see it, he was vacuuming it as it had not grown very much. He was able to get the leaves off the front yard, and it looks very nice. The leaves will be turning soon, and they will be falling.  

                We did not receive any trick or treaters here at the ford house, we did shut the door and window blinds early and we assume that kept them away.

                Today's plan: if we stay on a Saturday schedule, we will have lunch out and do very little the rest of the day. I might put some bird houses together as the parts that are in the garage do take up some room, and we don't have much room. Wow, another exciting senior person day.
