Well, we have Another cool morning although it is not as cold as it was yesterday, but it is jacket weather. I have gone and taken Alex to school this morning I did get him there on time and this week is their finals tests week.
For some reason, I have been thinking about the use of nicotine and tobacco. In the olden days and I'm talking about 30 years ago I used to smoke a pipe. That was during the time when we could still smoke in the office at work. I quit smoking the pipe and switched to chewing tobacco which means I was addicted to nicotine.
I find it odd when I see somebody smoking a cigarette, I do occasionally see somebody smoking one of those electric cigarettes or whatever they're called and blowing a puff of smoke or steam out but when I see somebody with a cigarette in their hand, I think boy that's odd.
Anyone who is using tobacco on a regular basis is an addict. Addicted to the nicotine is just like other people who are addicted to different drugs. Now I quit more than 20 years ago and I'm glad that I did. I know that it is difficult to get out of an addiction even intelligent people have trouble getting out of an addiction.
First a person must truly want to change, and the addiction keeps them from wanting to stop.
If they decide that they want to stop, they should set a date to stop. It isn't easy to stop.
When the addict decides to stop and have set a date, they should tell all their friends and family. There are a couple reasons for others to know. The addict will be in a bad mood, madder at times than a mashed cat, others need to be expecting this anger.
The fact that others know, they will ask how this person is doing and encourage them and also not get upset if the person is angry. It really helps when others are on your side and asking about your progress.
When a person tries to stop the addiction without informing others, most likely says "I doubt if I can stop" and they will possibly go a day or two then back into the addiction.
It isn't easy! I said when I quit, "if they tell me I have a couple months to live the first thing I will do is go buy me some chewing tobacco." You think I wasn't addicted!
I will stop preaching for now, we hope you have a good day and stay safe In all you do.
